Wine and Beyond

Worth the drive.
Well attended. We were invited to sample some wines as we entered the store. It was fabulously clean and well stocked. We watched many staff busy at work.
We got 10% off our purchase for buying more than 6 of anything. We signed up for the free discount card and are entered into their monthly contest to win a $ 100.00 gift card.
They carry really cool selection of beers from Belgium that we miss so dearly.
I was very satisfied with this shop.

Great selection of pretty much everything, even hard to find drops & varietals. Staffing does not seem to be trained well, and that goes to cashiers and floor personal. Still, as a whisky enthusiast, this the place to be.
Pricing is a totally different matter: W&B is outrageously expensive, and that is throughout the board. Expect to pay up to 25−30% more than elsewhere, specially superstore liquor. Granted, W&B has the selection, but I pretty much stopped shopping here just because of pricing.
Example: a specific bottle of single Malt Scotch was $ 35 more at W&B than at SS
As a side note, we went for a whiskey tasting here a while ago, it was the most disorganized event I have ever attended to. Even the rep who conducted the tasting was embarrassed by the lack of professionalism.
Since W&B is owned by the same group who operates Liquor Depot, I wonder how they managed to have to of their stores in such close proximity?

This may be one of the few places you can go where people actually understand different types of liquor/​wine/​beer. And the chance to sample is always a benefit.

This place is massive. Somewhat like the huge liquor stores found in the United States; unfortunately the prices aren’t like they are there. Quite expensive compared to other liquor stores but amazing selection of wine and everything else (spirits, beer, cider…). Be prepared to spend a bit of time there because of the selection.

This place is the best if you are trying to find anything! Great service, excellent prices, wide selection and always in stock.
I tried some strawberry beer (Fruli) from a Unilocal!event last year and I headed right to this place and sure enough they sell it! I heard about flavoured vodka and checked out their section, they carry so many different brands and flavours.
Lots of staff working no matter what time of day you are shopping. If you can’t find something, someone will direct you and will even look in their computer to see how many bottles they have.
Many choices, in fact too many and there is always sampling as well. The sampling staff are super friendly and knowledgable. Looks like a fun place to work too. Too bad there aren’t more locations as this one is tucked away in Windermere and the other location is in Sherwood Park.

They have everything! Staff is very helpful, they seem very well informed and able to give good recommendations. You can get anything you need here!

Wine? Check? Liquor beyond wine? Also check. If you want some sort of booze or booze related item (corkscrew, bottle opener, etc) then Wine and Beyond is your store. This is a pretty big store, but that just means more to choose from. They have a great selection of wines, and often have samples (hello), but there are lots of other liquors here as well. They have beers on tap that you can try before you buy (within reason, I think they limit you to two or three samples). Plus they sell growlers and kegs to fill up, which is great in theory, but I’ve never actually gotten a full growler or keg of beer (I like beer, but not quite enough to have an entire growler or keg worth).
My friend and I stopped here to kill some time before going to a movie. What I really like about Wine and Beyond is the people there aren’t constantly bugging you about buying something, but they are around if you have any questions. Apparently wine and beyond also does tasting classes and stuff, so if you have a group of people and want to do a wine tasting (or scotch tasting or whatever else) then you can contact them and book an event.
Prices here are also pretty decent. I mean it depends on what you’re getting. They’ve got everything from cheap beers to pricey scotch (like way beyond my budget). I can usually find something here I want to try and buy. It’s a bit out of my route, but Wine and Beyond is definitely worth stopping in to check out (assuming you’re of legal drinking age and want to buy liquor).

Love this place — selection is incredible and prices are pretty decent, too.
Always able to find something new… their staff is helpful to find that, and the taste-​testing opportunities are fun (when was the last time you went shopping with an adult drink?).

Big selection and a monstrous size store. Pretty good job of rotating through product given it’s size. Very pricy, but they carry considerably more than the average liquor store. Great tasting area and huge growler bar. Staff knowledge has marked improvement from when they first opened !

Great selection of craft beer, whiskeys and wine. Staff very knowledgeable. Wish there was one in Vancouver. Whenever in Edmonton, will be purchasing my libations here.

Oh I adore this place even though it reminds me of Walmart for alcohol. There is an AMAZING selection and unbeatable prices at wine and beyond. Every wine imaginable, they have — I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they carried some of my Okanagan favourites! Absolutely lovely!
I think one of the best features this place has to offer is the wine tastings and samples of beer they offer! You can also buy large jugs of beer from their taps that are significantly cheaper and refillable — way to save the environment and my wallet wine and beyond!
In my few trips to this place I’ve also found some lovely house décor — including a very LARGE wine glass that I intend to fill with wine corks!
I could wander this store aimlessly for hours — it’s heaven!

Walking in here truly makes me feel like I’m at the Liquor Barn in Kentucky –Perhaps it’s because they’re owned by the same parent company!
That said, Wine and Beyond offers an amazingly large selection of anything you could possibly want to drink. Prices are comparable to other liquor stores, but the selection usually makes it a one-​stop shopping experience.
Spend hours browsing the shelves, or even enjoy some taste-​testing.
If you’re looking for something specific, you may want to ask for help, however. The store layout has Sangria appearing in multiple locations, and with so many options, it may be difficult to locate exactly what you’re looking for!

Had a good experience at the tasting bar last weekend. Got a good education on Scotch from a fellow I believe named Eric (sorry if I am wrong!) and he spent a lot of time with us and explained the basics of Scotch. We ended up buying a good bottle and it was a good decision influenced by him.
Beer prices are still so high it is a waste of time but there is nothing sweeter than tasting a $ 3000 dollar scotch. Not many stores in Edmonton (if any) do that.

It’s bigger than Staples! And only filled with alcohol and accessories! And a tasting station. So many different types of wine, beer and spirits to try. You won’t get bored here!
Given the size, I assumed it was a chain of liquor stores. It may be in the future, but I was surprised to find that there are only two locations in Alberta… and they’re both in Edmonton! Holy toledo, Unilocalman, how’d they pull that one off? And in the burbs too… burb living must be like small town living, there isn’t all that much to do… so you drink with your neighbours!
Anyway, there are entire aisles dedicated to just about every kind of alcohol you could want, plus a few spots to pick up any little bartending accessories you might need to look like you know what you’re doing. You know, shakers and bottle openers of various sorts and things.
Like any craft and hobby store (like… craft cocktails and drinking as a hobby! It’s a thing!), the staff all seem to be knowledgeable on the products they stock and able to give suggestions or creative solutions for whatever occasion you’re stocking up for!

I’ve been here 5 times and every time this place has unimpressed me. The first few times, they had just opened, so I decided not to review them. I went back today and they’ve been open a half year now so they should have fixed a lot of the issues I had before.
Here’s a list of all the things that come to mind. I assure you there are more:
First of all, their shelving looks like it was organized by random. For the most part, it appears that they are trying to order by country and region, but then some sections are just groupings of the same style of beer. This makes it extremely hard to find a specific beer or brewery.
The pricing is just crazy. Generally, I think most of the beer is close to what I’d expect to pay, but there were some things that popped out as abnormal. Two six packs from the same brewery and the same cost to W&B with a $ 3 difference. A four pack of one beer for $ 32 where I’ve seen it for almost $ 10 less elsewhere. There’s too many to list here, but the pricing seems rife with these inconsistencies.
They must not have anyone facing their beer or they don’t care. The shelves look like they haven’t been cleaned up in a week, except for strangely, the Rogue section which looked perfect. I kept finding different beer behind the front facing beer and random six packs and bottles in the wrong area. This was mid afternoon on a Monday, so I doubt that this mess was because they were busy.
Beer stands in the wine aisles that isn’t anywhere in the beer section. Why do I have to traverse all the wine aisles to see all the beers available?
There’s extremely poor service at the growler bar too. IF I can get someone’s attention to help me, they invariably seem annoyed that they have to work the bar. The two times that I managed to get to the point where I ordered; 1) they only had howlers… a fact that was told to me after I had spent 15 minutes there, and 2) they don’t know how to pour, so both time, my howler/​growler, was 25% foam.
MACRO BEER IS NOT CRAFT… so don’t put macro beer under a sign that says CRAFT BEER! If you had a true beer manager he or she wouldn’t allow that!
I can’t imagine that I’ll ever come back.
