Never again. NEVER. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. They obviously do not care about customers, capitalizing on people who just spend there money downstairs. We made a reservation for 12 people for a bachelorette party. We were looking to have a good time and spend money. They assigned one waitress to our table, and apparently she was new(she divulged this when she felt bad at the end for how bad our time was). The place was not busy, in fact multiple staff(including what looked like a shift supervisor) could be seen standing around chatting. From the beginning we could see she was overwhelmed. We had to ask twice for water(even though we placed that with our drink orders) And drinks took forever. literally 30 mins for one drink. Other people went to the bar where they still had to fight for attention to get service. When I went to the bar to ask about the liquor selection, I was told they have had to cut back on their spirits. Ok, whatever. Cocktails were too sweet, so I settled on conventional drinks. When back at the table, as other friends tried to ask for drinks, the waitress actually turned her head and ignored twice. Water refill was so slow we eventually asked for a pitcher. Putting in food orders was hard too. Some of us got apps, while others just mains. She said she would come back and take the main order for the three who weren’t getting apps. She never did. After we had long finished our(small) apps, one of our party flagged a random waitress down to get our waitress. No dishes were ever cleared throughout the entire meal. We had to pile them ourselves to make room. Getting more drinks was out of the question, the waitress just would not come back to the table. I didn’t understand that. We wanted to spend money, there were 12 of us. But apparently no one would her. When the food came out everyone got theirs but mine. I was waiting on a salad. a half hour after they had got their food(and were finished) my salad arrived. Oh yah, and after flagging down another waitress. Unlike the menu description, they gave me a full bowl of badly chopped ice berg lettuce. Not mesclin greens. No croutions. And bad Kraft dressing on the top. Everyone thought it looked worse than a McDonald’s salad. I am still bitter I paid for it. Oh, and remember those friends I said were waiting on their mains? Yah, still waiting. Eventually those came out after some of the girls were on to dessert. So, we got so angry with this service that we asked to speak to a manager. Out comes this jovial guy who immediately grabs our friends hat and puts it on. Great way to introduce yourself to an angry table. I actually looked at him and told my friend not to bother complaining, because he was a joke and wouldn’t take us seriously. He then proceed to put his grubby hand on my back and tell me he was listening. All he could think to say was«well how does free shots sound to make up for it». I told him that wasn’t necessary and wasn’t a way to solve this issues. Eventually he sent over shots and a new waitress to help. He never came back to check in, and didn’t apologize. Then, it was time for the bills. After attempting to flag the waitress down for the bills, she informed us that she didn’t really take the orders properly so she doesn’t know who ordered what. I get it, that it’s difficult to work with groups, but it’s part of the job and I have been to plenty of restaurants that handly groups well and actually enjoy it because they know we are spending money. So I told her we would all tell her what we had. This was going well but she still took forever to make it around the table. We had now been dealing with this for 20 mins and needed to be somewhere by 10(we arrived at 7… there is no way 2 drinks and dinner shouldve take 2.5 hours… I was expecting at least to have had 5). Two of us pleaded with her to just give us our individual bills so we could leave. Which she did. 30 mins later another 4 got their bills and then another 15 mins before everyone else did. Apparently in the end they still couldn’t figure out the bills. Unfortunately for the first time ever, none of us tipped. We could not justify it. We were not taken seriously and they acted like we were a burden. If a bit more seriousness was taken then a lot of our anger would’ve been avoided. I honestly can’t believe this experience. And I really wanted to call back and speak to another manager or an owner. Because this is not acceptable. I spent money that was not worth it that night and it put a huge damper on the party. But from what I have heard from other downtown goers, the staff and management often don’t care. So why should I bother?

This place is perfect. The rooftop patio is one of the best in halifax, with a cool view of argyle street and a down-south feel to it. My boyfriend had the everything burger and as he was nose-deep in the burger, the waitress came by to ask how it was. With mayo all over his face and mouth full of beef, he mumbled ‘this is the best burger I have ever had’ and he meant it! He hasn’t stopped talking about that burger since we been there last. And we’ve had a lot of burgers. I was craving pesto. Hard. And pesto is best served on pizza with feta and the like. They specialize in their oven pizza but didn’t have that kind of pizza, so I asked if they could throw one together. And what amazing service, I got a pesto pizza with feta, mushrooms, red onion, mozzarella cheese, red peppers. And it was good! My two most important factors of a restaurant is the food and the atmosphere. And this place has both!

I’d heard of this place for a while and a friend and I were compelled to check it out. It was fairly standard, nothing great but nothing horrible.

Thought that we would go here for our first anniversary and have a good meal. Let me start off by saying there was zero air conditioning on a 28 degree day, and I tried then to get my husband to leave. He should have listen. Our waitress came and we ordered butter chicken and nachos. Really freaking simple to make. Later on we ordered some calamari. Also, SIMPLE. I can remember last year the butter chicken being delicious. Shredded vegetables and real rice. Well when I got my dish I’m pretty sure it was instant rice. And broccoli and turnip for an Indian meal? The butter chicken tasted like it came straight out of a bag. But that wasn’t even the worst part. My husband didn’t enjoy his nachos at all. The first layer was atleast melted, but I can’t say the same for the cheese on the second layer. This means it was freaking microwaved. The calamari, again, looked and tasted like it was straight out of a bag. The waitress came back and brought the nachos to the manager. Who didn’t even come out to deal with it them self. 25% the nachos is what we got on the worst dining experience. My husband bit his tongue because he just wanted out of there. 25% though on obviously microwaved food?! Stay faaaaar away from this place. It has the look of a restaurant that can actually cook, but I’m pretty sure they employee cooks that haven’t made food a day in their life.

In season, as a bar/club this place has big potential. Super cool venue and rooftop patio. Average price drinks. Nice servers.

Stopped in here the other night for the first time after one of my regular spots was full all in all not a bad spot to grab a bite to eat. The menu had a good selection(I had the Kalamata Olive pasta which was a little oily but otherwise very good). Service was friendly but a little slow, ambience was good with nice background music. I would be willing to give it another go and maybe try some of their wood fired pizzas.

I have been to this bar several times. All times were great, good food, drinks etc. But my last visit will probably be the last. My friend and i went for dinner and when we were seated, I’m not sure if it was the lighting or the fact that i just never noticed but the place needs a ‘Bar Rescue’ FORSURE! The ceiling looks like it has hundreds of leaks, dirty surfaces, old fixtures and furniture. I suddenly felt a little dirty and was wondering what i liked about the place. The bathrooms were even worse. Cold, ugly and just dirty. I wasn’t putting my but on a sketchy toilet seat. Food came, i ordered a burger. Was great! Then when I was just about done my meal. i saw a mouse. Now first i was like ‘It’s dark, could have been a shadow!’ Ignored it. A couple minutes later i actually saw it. I looked at my friend and told her to pull her feet up off the floor. I couldn’t believe i actually saw a mouse in a restaurant. I felt like i needed John Taffers(Bar Rescue Host) number! Until they clean up the place, i probably wont be back.

Great pizza and bar. Their wood fired oven cooked pizzas are the best in the city. Also the rooftop patio is cool. Good service.

Been to the Argyle over the years more for a ‘tea and scones’ with my Wife. Rarely have we had a meal there. Not because of it not being good… just rarely had a meal. Saturday we decided to go for a walk and partake in some ‘tea and scones’. We figured the Argyle would be a nice place to try. Upon going through the menu, I was thinking about the fish taco but was burnt by a lousy meal of fish tacos at the Local Source Market. But I figured I can’t let one bad meal affect all… so I ordered it. WOW!!! It was absolutely amazing! It was a light crisp breaded haddock in a soft taco. It had a Romesco sauce which was very delicious on its own. in the sauce were tomato which from googling the inter web, is optional… I’m glad they went with it. there was cilantro but not too much to be overpowering. Lots of lettuce and red onion chiffonade, which together gave the meal an overall coolness(if you will) when biting into the fish. All together it was a taste explosion and a wonderful treat from my last time with fish tacos. I am now a believer of fish tacos. Thank you Argyle Bar & Grill. My wife had the steak tacos… very tasty as well. Not as tasty as the fish taco though but it is still good in its own right. Thank you for your time and I hope this review helps others.

Came here a few weeks ago in a large-ish group for a friend’s birthday. They were very accommodating of our table-changing(there was a leak in the ceiling above our original tables) and our server was friendly, knowledgable and on top of things. I had one of their wood fired pizzas which was quite good. I had something with a lot of chocolate for dessert(can’t remember the name, but who cares, it was good!). Ive heard they have a nice patio in the summer so I’ll definitely be back to check that out.

This place is just gross. Found bugs in my beer. The food tastes like it came out of a bag. And the servers all seem drunk. We will not be returning here, ever…

I’m visiting from virginia beach, virginia(USA) & was hungry so my guy, Tremayne, suggests Argyle for brunch. Turns out to be a pretty good suggestion. I had eggs, homefries, bacon, & toast topped off with a really good lemonade mixed drink. The atmosphere was relaxed & the bartender very personable. I would definitely go back. My only«complaint» was their restroom. Yeah, it just wasn’t the cleanest and the place wasn’t even busy. Other than that I would say check em out.

As you can see from my last review on The Argyle it was not a good experience, at all. But, I didn’t hesitate to say yes when asked if I want to go there last night. It was a pretty nice evening so we opt to sit on the downstairs patio — we did only ordered appetizers and drinks, but our server, Jason, was super! He recommended we try the calamari, it was coated in a spicy Thai sauce; it was really, really good! Probably some of the best calamari I’ve had. Thank you Jason for changing my mind about the Argyle!

Brunch, Brunch, Brunch. I love brunch so I’m always scoping out new places to satisfy my cravings. A friend and I went dt last Sunday to do some dt shopping. of course, we had to fuel up before the venture. We walked down Argyle Street not really knowing where we would(over)indulge in delicious breakfast food. We see the sign«Ceasars — $ 3.75.SOLD! To the Argyle we go. My friend must eat gluten free which they have a menu for; *thumbs up*.All I’m looking for is hollandaise sauce, because let’s face it. it’s delicious! She had some egg sandwich thingy. a real mess it seemed as yolk was all over her face and hands. She said it was delicious and the gluten free bun was fluffier than what she was used to with gluten free options, awesome. I had the Fritatta breakfast pizza, my very first breakfast pizza… A little skeptical of course I was… Hey, but it was pretty good, and it came with that favorite sauce of mine for dipping! So, Breakfast was A-1. Oh and the Ceasar’s? Delicious!

So it’s finally patio season in Halifax again and this evening 3 friends and I decided to have our first patio of the season at the Argyle. We arrived around 6ish and grabbed a table. The were a few full tables on the patio and a few people inside but I would by no means call it a busy night. Yet for some reason we waited at least 20 minutes without a menu given, a drink order taken, or even so much as a hello from any of the 3 waiters that passed by us on multiple occasions. One guy even brought menus and took the drink orders of 3 other tables who sat down after us. I’m pretty sure I even saw the manager wiping down the table next to us and yet still we received no service. Obviously I can’t comment on the food because I haven’t eaten it. We eventually gave up and went across the street to another, much friendly restaurant and I doubt I will be trying The Argyle again any time soon.

My two friends, sister and I had supper here last night. We were craving pizza and my sister said it was a good place to go. I had the Spicy Italian pizza and it was delicious! My sister and a friend also had pizza and enjoyed theirs. My other friend had a Mediterranean platter and love it(he husband is Lebanese). Our server was friendly and made sure we were taken care of. I’d definitely go back there again if I’m craving pizza!
