The lattes are fine, but the customer service is so bland. Like, wake up! You work at a coffee shop!

First and only time I will pay $ 2.50 taxes in of a weak«Detroit Bold… YADAYADA» How can you charge these prices if you don’t even know how to make coffee properly?

Great atmosphere, nice location, friendly staff. Love that they use Detour coffee. But the decaf coffee I had was inexcusably bad(yeah, decaf isn’t great to begin with, but this was undrinkable). I think someone might have used CLR in the pot and not cleaned it out properly. If I hadn’t been driving, I would have brought it back.

Good espresso drinks and a nice atmosphere. They use a local roaster(Detour), which I love. Their prices are a little high, but I will always choose to spend a little more to support a local business rather than visit the Starbucks up the street.

My friends and I were bored on a Friday night, and decided to go to Johnny’s Coffee for a late night drink. The place is hidden away on Locke St. and it blew away all my expectations. The prices are fair at Johnny’s, the brownies are delicious and their latte’s are amazing. I absolutely loved the vanilla latte I purchased at Johnny’s and will surely be back for another one. My only issue with the place is, I’m not a huge fan of the newspaper walls as a décor choice.

It’s pretty standard café fare on the drink menu and on the pasty shelf(bagels, muffins, and some sweeter things), with some pre-made sandwiches and salads available as well. Johnny’s serves Detour coffee(probably the best local roaster) medium and dark roasts, plus the regular and espresso decaf, and they’ll sell you a bag of beans if you want to take it home. The walls are covered with work from local artists and photographers; there’s a big stack of board games; younger customers can often be found drawing on an etch-a-sketch; people will be yelling TRAIN! as a GO Train scoots by on the tracks.(You get a free drink if you can beat the barista to calling TRAIN10 times) This place is very friendly for laptop users and families alike. There’s a secluded patio out back for intimate late-night conversations. Top-notch service, too — they have a thing for hiring the best local baristas. Don’t be surprised if they ask you your name and remember it the next time you come in! Sadly, the food is a big let-down here. Most of the baked goods are sold in the morning, and other than cookies, biscotti and small sandwiches which might be a day or two old, there’s not really anything to eat. It’s just too small of a shop for that. It’s a bit ballsy to open an independent coffeeshop across the street from a well– established Starbucks, but this place appeals to a different crowd — one that favours quality service and supporting local businesses, over one that has to compromise in order to push a lot of product out the door. There’s a reason why many of Locke Street’s shop-owners are regulars here.

Great coffee. Nice Staff. Comfortable atmosphere. I loved seeing book clubs meet here and on another occasion friends playing board games while drinking their coffee. Clean bathrooms, and fantastic coffee. Not sure what else you need! :)
