Bon Ami Bakery Cafe

This delightful 1-​year old neighbourhood bakery and café serves delicious freshly baked goods, treats, sandwiches, specialty coffees and beverages. They cater to special orders too (celebration cakes, etc). I was impressed with the service by competent and friendly staff, as well as by their reasonable prices. The décor and ambience is pleasant and comfortable. A little gem located just off Dollarton Hwy.

Loved it. Great spot. Friendly people. Had a delicious veggie sandwich only because I’m not allowed to eat the 20 other amazing looking things they had to choose from. Comfortable too, with nice relaxing music and chill vibe. Highly recommend. I’ll build Bön Ami into my routine now as a place to visit and enjoy.

I saw this reviewed on the front page of Unilocal on April 1^st. It’s nice that there is a bakery in North Van like this. Mostly I see these types of bakeries in Downtown Vancouver or fancier areas, however, NV seems to be growing in culture all on it’s own starting with shops like these. They use real butter which is a huge deal for me. I always felt that true pastries were made with real butter. These guys aren’t shy about this at all. Interior is very beautiful. I almost feel as though I am in a café in Paris. The owner is very passionate about the baking. Of course in true hipster fashion your cold drinks are served in mason jars.

Let’s preface this with the most important fact about Bön Ami: I haven’t had anything there that hasn’t been absolutely perfect. It is clear Frances is not only passionate about baking, but her commitment to high quality is evident in every single product she serves. My particular favourite so far has been the Bacon & Cheddar Scone, which is perfectly moist, tender, flaky, and crumbly all at the same time. This place is a hidden gem that is just waiting to be discovered by baked goods lovers from Vancouver!

Tucked away in a commercial area of North Vancouver is quite possibly the best bakery on the North Shore. In an age where baked goods are often prepared offsite before being shipped to a storefront bakery, Bön Ami Bakery is an oasis of delicious baked goods made in house with real butter.
I came for the grand opening last Saturday morning. Upon entering, I noticed the bright and pretty French Provencal style décor and the smell of delicious cookies and cakes. I was offered a complimentary mini cheddar scone that was absolutely delicious. It was wonderfully buttery and flaky. I spent a few minutes savouring every bite while deciding what I wanted to order for breakfast.
I was happy to see that the offered Fentiman’s Ginger Beer, but I opted for Bön Ami’s house-​made iced citrus green tea and a plain scone with butter and jam. The iced tea was served with blueberries and a slice of lemon in a cute mason jar with a hole in the lid for a straw. It was a sunny day, so we decided to eat at one of the tables outside. I enjoyed the refreshing taste of the subtly flavoured iced tea; it would be great on a hot summer day. Like the mini scone I had tried earlier, the plain scone was buttery and delectable with jam.
On our way out, we decided to pick up a cinnamon bun to take with us. The cinnamon bun did not disappoint. I highly recommend it with a cup of coffee or tea.
