St Laurent Centre

My favourite shopping mall to go to!
It simply has pretty much everything! What would make it a ⁵⁄₅ for me is proximity to my dwelling in relation to the location (but I mean I live with my parents so not up to me) but also if there was an Apple Store! Going to Rideau is a hassle especially paying for parking boo! Bayshore is the other option but man that’s on the other side of town across the river from me !
This mall has everything from babies-​hair-​cellphone/​technology-​tea-​food-​clothing chains !
I love how there is variety, a little bit of everything!
I have to say the mall is very clean considering how busy so koodos to the cleaning staff you are doing great! Also the new renovations are lovely, I absolutely love the modernness of the mall!
This is the all time best mall in my opinion !

I go to this place constantly. Especially during the holidays. Always find parking here very easily as opposed to other malls and being right off the highway doesn’t get more convenient.

The new renovations look amazing. You have to check out Juzo Juice, Teavana, HMV, and Toys R Us. The only thing that is missing is an EB Games and they do have park and ride.

Overall a good mall. The proximity to the bus station may account for the questionable characters around the mall. But the mall and stores are good. Hopefully they will finish the construction soon!

We really like this mall when we visit Ottawa. Plenty of parking. Has s great variety of shops and even a small but well stocked LCBO.
The mall itself is very well maintained and very clean.

They’re renovating again but it doesn’t affect the shopping experience.
Now get an Apple Store and I give it 5 stars lol.

I used to trek to this mall all the time before. I had a problem with the Micabella Kiosk before and their girls who pull shoppers away. I wasn’t there to see one of them get beaten up by a jealous girlfriend, but a video gone viral would have been epic. Ottawa Sports Gallery was a small rinky dink sports store which was the size of a gas bar. Jerseys were hung from the ceiling, and people crammed into the place. It was closed during business hours one day and wondered what their excuse was… the food court is always over-​crowded from open till close. It’s a nightmare during Christmas season and makes me want to do my shopping way in advance. Mall cops are alert, but sometimes aggressive. They do come off as the real cops sometimes. Took a photo of a pair of boots in a display for a friend, and hear a deep voice saying «Hey, you can’t take pictures». I look over, and this mall cop (about 6 feet tall) is reaching to grab my phone and told him I would delete it. I was pretty shaken up, but luckily wasn’t man-​handled. It would have been a great lawsuit though…

I would consider St. Laurent to be an average mall, but here in Ottawa, I would say that it’s one of the better malls.
I used to feel that it was on par with Bayshore Shopping Centre but ever since Bayshore renovated their parking lot I rarely go to Bayshore anymore and it has dropped to the bottom of my list for malls to go to. The parking lot at St. Laurent is still good. The parking spaces are big, and it’s easy to navigate (unlike the tiny narrow spots at Bayshore where it’s like a maze with one way lanes everywhere that people ignore so you often find yourself facing on-​coming traffic, but I digress…)
St. Laurent Mall has a good selection of stores. It has everything: women’s apparel, men’s apparel, kids’ apparel, footwear, hair salon and barber, nail salon, bank, drugstore, sports store, tailor, dry cleaner, shoe repair, jewelers, dollar store, art supplies, cell phone providers, gym, optical, electronics, toy store, card shop, photo studio, liquor store, food court and a sit-​down restaurant. There’s even a movie theatre. There’s nothing super high-​end, but it has all the usual suspects that you would expect in a mall. The anchor stores are The Bay and Sears. The food court is quite large and has a good selection. I think everyone would be able to find something to eat at the food court.
It’s easily accessible by public transit.

By far my favourite place to shop. It can be busy at peak seasons but overall I love to come here. They always keep up to date, whether it be in the food court our in the shops they keep.

My favourite place to go. Of all the malls in ottawa i always come back here. Right now theyre doing lots of renovations so parking is a bit of a pain but other than that its great.

I was actually quite surprised when Noah K and I came here awhile ago. The mall is undergoing renovations (like EVERY other mall in this city — sheesh!), and is already much better than I remember. Although it’s still a busy place, it doesn’t feel as hectic as I remember.
There is a really wonderful selection of stores and services here, and I particularly love the big Toys R Us here. They have a lot of signage around the rennovations which are quite cheeky and fun. They’re doing a good job of keeping the place tidy as well.
I’ll be sure to update once I visit post-​rennovations — I think it’s going to be an awesome change!

Likely one of the biggest malls in Ottawa, I would say it’s both a great and not so great place to shop depending on the store you’re going to and the items you are looking for.
As some times I notice the same commercial store sells better products at other locations as well as some commercial stores sell things that I’ve only found at this mall (vice versa)
It’s a fairly large place to walk around if you’re someone who likes to get a coffee or tea and browse repeatedly from store to store, there are always deals to be found especially if you visit 3 or more stores in one visit.
I’ve found there to be both casual stores, and as well as high end stores, and then those stores that sell «fancy looking» things for fairly cheap whether it be clothing, utilities, food, or anything else.
From a birds eye view just remember the mall is shaped as a triangle with shorter hallways that extend off of it so it’s pretty easy to remember your way around. Worst case you’ll only find yourself at the same door you entered through if walking aimlessly.

My favourite place to shop.

Much better than the one in Rideau Center. It is spacious, bright and it’s equipped with some decent machines. The air-​quality however is not good.

St. Laurent is where I go if I can’t find what I’m looking for at Rideau. Their food court is A LOT better than Rideau Centre’s, which I feel I had to bring up first since you know, we are all foodies here. Their food court includes a Taco Bell (yes!), this really tasty place that sells Bourbon Chicken, a half decent Italian place, and there is a new crêpe/​gelato spot! It also includes an East Side Mario’s, if you’re in the mood to eat silly amounts of bread sticks and salad.
St. Laurent doesn’t really have many clothing stores that I would shop at personally, it has a Gap but that’s really it. But it does have a Joshua Perets, Guess, Mexx, Suzy Shier, a really big Ardenes, and a West 49. If you have a teenage daughter I’d say this mall has an edge over Rideau for teen clothing choices. It also has a Bath and Body Works, which is one of my favorite stores ever, and a HUGE Toys R Us/​Babies R Us.
Here are the down sides of St. Laurent: No Starbucks, but I guess that wouldn’t be an issue for people who are NOT addicted to Starbucks, unlike myself. St. Laurent Mall is also extremely confusing and easy to get lost in, I used to work at the Toys R Us and I would always be late coming back from my break because I had no idea where I was going. But the biggest downside for me is the ridiculous amount of pushy vendors they have in the middle of the mall, I seriously feel like I am being harassed as I walk through it. Today I went down a single lane in the mall and was approached FIVE times by people trying to sell me their products. Hair straighteners, hand cream, nail files, little hot packs, more hand cream, etc. One even went as far as jumping in front of me and yelling «HELLO», which scared the crap out of me. I caution everyone heading here that unless you are looking for the specific product the person is trying to give you a sample of, to not accept it because they will DESPERATELY try to sell you their product and you’ll feel awful saying no to them.

This is my favourite mall in all of Ottawa, based on its size and variety of vendors (not to mention that I live unfortunately closer to Bayshore mall; boo!) I always get lost in the St Laurent mall — it’s HUGE! We usually go here during the holiday rush in December to spend one good day of shopping to get the list down, but while shopping here this summer, the mall seemed so much larger and roomier, more spacious than I remembered it… This is because there’s no Santa Claus in August, not so many gift shopping booths down the centre isles either, and as a result it was so much less packed. The added bonus was that the walkways seemed broader. I really like the little rest areas with the carpets and comfy couches.
There are so many cellphone shops here now! The nature of shopping malls has changed. This gave us the chance to check things out to try to get a comparison (good luck! No such thing as comparing apples to apples when it comes to cell phone companies’ packages!). The food court here I would say is average; when we go that far into the east end of Ottawa, there are other really good restaurants that I would prefer to eat at, all of them outside this mall. Although there is still a good East Side Mario’s in here.
The mall is clean and large. My one regret is that it’s so far from home for us, that we don’t shop there often enough.
Do you know what I miss? I miss the competition between truly Canadian chains such as Eatons and Simpsons… heck, even the Bay is now owned by the Americans! I miss the Canadian perspective and style in the large chains, and I’m grateful for even the small home town styles offered in the stores today.
What’s not here any more: I think there used to be a Koyman’s Galleries in here; they’re pulling out of the mall boutique shops, and they’ve opened a larger warehouse-​sized store down the street from the mall, between Innes and Lancaster on the east side.

The food here was truly awful. I work across the street so I have been there a couple of times and it is always brutal. I think you could find microwave dinners that taste better. This pretty much goes for the entire East Side’s franchise. I went to one in Vancouver (which has since closed) and the food was equally inedible.

I remember thinking that the St. Laurent Mall was just terrible, but after visiting it a couple times recently, it’s improved quite a bit.
It’s seems to be much more fashionable, with many more known retailers. It now has Crabtree & Evelyn, Guess, La Senza, Mexx, Lush, Teopia, and the Gap. You can also find Everest College and an LCBO here.
The mall is generally much more packed now than it has been in past years, so it’s obviously gained a lot more popularity. There were tons of people when I visited a few weeks ago, though it was during the Christmas rush, so that may have also been a factor.

I believe there are two better malls in Ottawa than the St. Laurent Centre so if I end up here it’s only out of convenience or if I can’t find what I’m looking for at the Rideau Centre or Bayshore.
I do like how this place has a Toys R Us and the mall’s foot court is really good. They have a Beavers Tail in it!
Otherwise nothing at this mall wows me and the layout can be confusing for some. I like my mall to be laid out simple and easy to get around — just like Bayshore.
The transit way is not only close to this mall it actually runs right underneath part of it too. There is a lot of parking but most of it is not covered but there are some more protected areas near the east entrance to the mall.

I used to live near the St Laurent Mall, so I walked through on a daily basis to catch the bus.
The best thing happening there right now is that they are just finishing off the GoodLife fitness centre. This GoodLife will even have a salt water pool! Because it is new they are offering some really good deals.
The East Side Marios at this mall is also really good.
The St Laurent has a pet store and a Toys R Us, which are unusual in a mall. The Sports Check here is huge.
There is lots of parking here, so it is nice to come away from the Rideau Centre and have a more relaxed experience.

Second from the Rideau Centre located downtown, this has to be the second busiest mall in the Ottawa area. The mall’s close proximity and ease of access to and from the mall makes this an easy mall to find and locate. A large transit hub allows those who use public transit in getting to the mall.
The mall is anchored by several large stores which include Sears, Sports Chek, The Bay, and Toys R Us. You’ll find a variety of stores which include home fashion, cell phone providers, a florist, and other mini kiosks which offer many different items for sale. Downstairs is a small theatre which offers bargained priced movies. There is currently a Florida Fitness for the health nuts but in time, my hunch is that a Good Life fitness will replace it.
Parking is plentiful with 2 separate parking garages. I find the layout of the parking lot and garages makes maneuvering around difficult. Your best bet during week days is to park on the second level parking which is covered and never busy. The ramp is located on the south east side closest to The Bay’s exterior entrance.
