Delicious and authentic. Just the way HK style dessert tofu should be! it is a TAD bit pricey though.

This place is CASHONLY! So tofu fa is one of my favorite types of desserts and it isn’t found very often in Chinese restaurants these days outside of dim sum and a few traditional Chinese dessert places in Toronto. Now this place is strict no frills tofu fa & do jung. So keep that in mind that you aren’t coming here for ambiance and just plop yourself along the counter and order from the lady manning the counter. The menu is pretty straight forward and you can order tofu fa with different types of toppings or sweet nut soups to go along with it. My favorite is the«plain» Jane tofu fa — which is straight up with a little bit of ginger syrup. It’s classic for a reason and I love how the texture is smooth, silky and the syrup isn’t too sweet with a touch of ginger in it. Price is fair. I do wish it was a little bit cheaper, however it isn’t that big of a quibble for me. Although if you are looking to share and take out — it is MUCH cheaper to buy the large format and it comes with the syrup as well. Service is pretty basic as the expectation here is to eat, pay and go — not exactly a place to sit and chat with your friends for an extended period of time.

My absolute go to place for tofu dessert! Authentic, family-run, and most importantly, properly priced. There are too many places nowadays that overprice their desserts but with Excellent Tofu and Snack you can get a huge portion for $ 8. When I say huge portion, I mean it can feed your entire family — with seconds for everyone, just look at the photo! An extra $ 4 and you can grab a bottle of ginger syrup to top your tofu dessert! The tofu is silky smooth and always sweetened just right, if you want, they also offer various toppings like red bean and black sesame. This time I chose to grab take out just because the portion size is a lot more worth the price. If you’re looking for a sit down dessert, they have a ton of seats and a bowl with set you back only $ 3.50 for the classic.

Pretty good tofu pudding. I like that they have the simple syrup and the darker syrup with ginger for you to add yourself, so you can adjust your sweetness. Got the tofu pudding with peanuts and red bean. Delicious! If you buy a jug, make sure you remember to make sure you get the sweetened or unsweetened, depending on what you want.

I had introduced my partner to this place last year, as he loves tofu of any shape and form, and he was instantly smitten. Between the two of us we have tried almost every sort of topping and most of their small snacks. I’m fairly sure the owners recognize us now. A bowl of warm tofu pudding is always good as a evening snack. My personal favorite is black sesame + coconut milk. Recently my partner has discovered their soy drinks, in which they put in an entire serving of tofu into the drink, plus toppings and topped off with milk. I have even tried the mango pudding, which I thought had a steep $ 5 price until I saw that it was a rather generous portion that I was barely able to finish. We also regularly buy their soymilk and sometimes we have the fortune of snagging a bottle as they finish filling it. Tofu is indeed on the watery side, though I watch them as they scoop the tofu out and they usually remove the liquid first. I suppose the tofu itself just releases more water as time passes? A common remark is that the ambiance and(lack of) décor, but their service and menu are quite straightforward so I don’t see the need for a frivolous interior. Despite being sparse, it’s a comfortable place as only hole-in-the-wall Chinese places can be.

Absolutely no soy bean scent. Hugely overrated by people who have never had the fresh thing.

If u like tofu desserts this is the place! I got my usual soft tofu with sugar and it was excellent! The tofu was really smooth, soft and warmed perfectly. They only add a little of the sugar water and they provide extra for u to add yourself. The soy milk is really refreshing and sweet, I can’t wait to have it again!

$ 4 for a bowl of tofu pudding isn’t bad but its a better deal if you order a bucket for $ 12 and have it to go. Just add your own topping. With a bucket you can probably get 10 bowls out of it. Their tofu pudding is so yummy. Very fresh. They make it daily. And there are quite a lot of choices in topping. Décor is ok. Not super fancy. Clean of course. The chairs looks like they have seen better days. The owner there speaks limited English but of they do have pictures. When I sat down she plotted the menu and a menu with lots of picture so you can just point. They have two kinds of syrup almond and ginger. Both are delicious. I usually have a mix of both. Definitely coming back.

This was my first introduction to Asian hot dessert soups. I was intrigued and some combos I know will take me a while to get in to, specifically the red bean based ones. On the flip side I was really into the coconut ones. It is a small space. It fills up quickly, therefore, had it to go and ate it on transit. Different dessert experience. Not sure if I would personally do it again but at least I was able to see what the fuss was about. Customer service was good. Prices were cheap. Cash only.

Having dessert here really brings me back to those hot summer nights in Hong Kong when you couldn’t escape from the humidity and just wanted some sweet, cold relief. Even though Vancouver’s climate is quite mild, so I still crave tofu desserts from time to time and I definitely enjoy their black sesame soup as well. Everything here is authentic and made from scratch so it’s definitely worth the commute. The owners only accept cash and the portions are a bit small, but you do pay for what you get.

Simple no nonsense deliciousness. There should be a few more of these gems in the city.

Pretty decent tofu desert place — it is a bit pricy($ 3.5−5) depending on what you get but the quality is good. If you feel like a nice home made todu desert, this is a great place to drop by. The parking is a pain and I typically buy a jug of soy milk here as well. I like their soy milk over the superstore varieties because I can taste the simplicity — ground cooked soy and milk. It is light and simple — I just can’t stomach the Silk variety. The tofu desert reflects the simplicity of their approach to making soy milk.

This place is amazing! I wish I lived in Vancouver or somewhere closer to this newly discovered gem just so I can eat this monthly if not weekly. I can’t believe there’s actually a place that just specializes in sweet tofu and it does an exceptional job. They have all the toppings you can imagine and you can also customize your own. I don’t think i will ever get sick of this place. We came before dinner for a nice hot bowl, but also picked up some to go after dinner. It was that good. The staff is also super friendly too. The shop is set up like a diner with a bar table facing their kitchen. It was empty when we were there, so not sure what it’s like during peak hours. But I can’t wait to come back to this place!

As soon as you step into the shop, you inhale in the wonderful smell of tofu that is being cooked in large pots in the open kitchen. They offer warm & cold options for both soy milk and tofu dessert. The tofu dessert is offered plain or with toppings such as red beans and coconut milk. The desserts are not sweet but there’s simple syrup w/and w/o ginger. I love finding mom & pop places like this tofu shop! The wife attended to us while her husband was cooking in the back. Cash only.

This popular dessert joint has an idenity problem concerning their beverages. a normal soy milk is 1 $… a soy milk with pearls is 4.50 $… ok… must be damn good right? wrong. it was the same fricken soy milk with pearls added to it and served in a bbt cup and straw. so… instead of charging 25−50cents like most bubble tea houses, they basicly charged you 3 $ and more for pearls… what the flipping firetruck. and the pearls were not like, good… they were horribly soft like jello and lacked any chewiness that we typically associate good pearls with. i had my doubts when i looked at the menu and seeing the absurd price difference, but i remained optimistic about what i was about to recieve. that optimism was poorly placed, not coming back for drinks, thats for sure. A ripped off One, out of Five.

I LOVE tofu pudding and this place satisfies my tofu pudding cravings! I perfer cold tofu pudding than the warm version. It is cheaper to buy it in the bucket and eat it later. I love how their tofu pudding is so silky smooth! Cash only spot!

Oh my gosh. What a gem. I love places that serve one specialty and do it well. I ordered a small with red bean and peanuts. I love how they give you the option to make it as sweet or as gingery as you please by providing the squeeze bottles to the customers for them to do it themselves. Brings me back to my childhood family vacation to Taiwan. Love how there’s so much customizing you can do with toppings like young coconut, green bean, taro, or even the flavor of the tofu like mango, passion fruit, etc. But don’t bring in outside foods. No seriously. There are like 6 signs saying no outside food or drink.

$ 3.50 for a plain bowl of dessert tofu. You can have it hot or cold. $ 0.50 for every add-on. Black sesame paste, black sticky rice, red bean paste, jelly, fruits, your typical Asian dessert toppings. This place seems to be a popular hang out spot for Asians, especially young couples. Dessert tofu is silky smooth. As long as you stick to the regular menu you’re fine. If you want to be adventurous, like getting honeydew flavored dessert tofu you’ll be sorry. That artificial honeydew flavor and unnatural apple green color is disgusting. Ginger syrup and regular sugar syrup are available without extra charge. They’re just standing there in semi-transparent squeeze bottles. This place serves snack food such as pan-fried dumplings, fish balls, deep fried Chinese donuts etc. I questions the legitimacy of those items as I’ve seen fish balls laying in a plastic container on prep counter from the time I entered the door to the time I left. I don’t think health and safety applies here.

Excellent Tofu Richmond is a specialty Chinese dessert store beside Lido Restaurant. We just finished eating some XLB at Shanghai Morning and decided we still had room for dessert. We always wanted to try this tofu pudding dessert place. Ever since we went to Yu’s Almond Tofu Taiwan 于記杏仁豆腐 in Taiwan, we couldn’t stop thinking about the silky almond tofu pudding. It was the best almond tofu pudding ever! We didn’t have any expectations but we wanted to reminisce on Taiwan since we miss it so much. Anyways, the reviews for Excellent Tofu Richmond online were quite good, so we thought this place was decent. WRONG! At first the Excellent Tofu & Snacks menu seemed promising. There was a lot of choices and the pictures were nice. We ordered almond tofu and black sesame tofu. We saw the lady skimp the tofu. What surprised me was the fact that she was slicing the tofu paper thin. Not only was the tofu pudding sliced paper thin; It was a watery mess. So if you want to save yourself time, you can see in the pictures below. The tofu pudding tasted artificial. The texture was rough and not at all silky. The tofu pudding at Excellent Tofu Richmond tastes nothing like premium tofu pudding we had in Taiwan or anywhere in Hong Kong. It is safe to say that you can get better tofu pudding at Grand Palace Coquitlam or any pre-packaged tofu pudding sold at any major Chinese supermarkets. In conclusion, this less of a specialty store and more of a hack. So please save yourself some time and money. Almond Tofu Pudding: Artificial almond flavored and not fragrant. There is more water than tofu pudding itself. Black Sesame with tofu pudding: I have never seem sesame soup 芝麻糊 so thin and sparse. The tofu pudding again floats on top of a ocean of water. For $ 4 a bowl of tofu pudding is pretty pricey. You can get a bowl in Hong Kong for less than $ 3 with much better quality and portions. I suppose it becomes more of a Beggar /Chooser situation when there is not another specialty tofu pudding shop in Richmond. Excellent Tofu Richmond definitely does not have the best tofu pudding. It does not have the smoothest tofu pudding, nor the silkiest tofu pudding. Your better option is still Bubble Fruity 桂花林馳名甜品 dessert on Saba Road Richmond. PS — SRS’ly? 4 star? Joking right?

After a whole day of intense eating, this was our second to last stop for even more food. I love tofu pudding! And that is why my friends and I decided to come here. Prices are dirt cheap and you get your own little pitcher of ginger syrup. I love my tofu pudding covered in syrup. I also got mine with grass jelly topping. It’s not exactly the cleanest, but this is the place to go for Asian desserts.
