Solid 3.5. Tough Unilocalers here, but in this day and age of big $, you’re definitely not coming here for value but for the ambience and lack of late-nite dessert places in Rmd. Loved the Mango Napoleon combo: ice cream(mango, of course), 2 pieces of the good pastry and nicely cut pieces of soft mango, fresh. It’s worth it for me. Big scoop of ice cream too, and for $ 16, it’s enough to share. The pancake, or crêpe-like: just average in terms of the skin, not as soft as a french-made pastry but considering the whipped cream and mango pieces, it’s above average. Just debit only. Great booth seating on the right. Service-wise, it’s good though there doesn’t seem to be an atmosphere of offering water lol. I’d come back again.

This place is horrible. Waited for 20 minutes for our desserts to come. It was not even busy. The server can use a bit more customer service skills. Worst of all, the dessert is just horrible. See the amount of crème in the pancake in the picture. Yuck…

Was thrilled to check out this place but unfortunately had a very poor experience right off the bat. The server was rude and impatient and did not answer questions regarding the menu. She would leave in the middle of the question. Her attitude was quite embarrassing for a new restaurant and she does not belong in the service industry. The management should review the importance of customer service with their staff in order to have repeat customers, or customers to begin with. Ended up walking out, unfortunately. No Philippine mango for this Filipina. Boo.

Mango Mama Café Ltd. is a simple, brightly lit restaurant with booth seating that comfortably seats four and a fifth awkwardly with an extra chair. You order by ticking off a menu sheet — sort of like dim sum. There is no «customer service» per se except they check if you’re ready and bring your order to the table. The mangoes here are Philippine Mangos, which are supposedly the sweetest in the world and also hideously expensive here for being imported. If you don’t care about that, you will feel like you are overpaying for simple things like adding some fresh mangoes to your fluffy ice, or getting a «fresh mango pancake» weighing in at $ 10.95. Which I got. Since this is a bias clearly based on being a philistine about Philippine Mangoes, I am tilting them +1 star. The crêpe is thin and filled with mango cubes plus whipped cream(?). Also takes a while to make — longer than my friend’s mango fluffy ice. The fluffy ice comes out looking like a pile of phyllo pastry, and strangely keeps that look for a very long time. Portion is also huge for $ 4.95 — similar to Icy Bar, but instead of unlimited condensed milk, your ice is flavoured here. Great for sharing and just hanging out for a while, especially since it doesn’t melt on you so quickly.

very overpriced. below average quality and very disappointing service. Try the food court shaved ice in aberdeen. It is far superior in taste, price and service. The bear shaped agar jellies are cute.

Extremely overpriced and desserts lack the«Philippine fresh» mango taste(the menu promises). Having desserts priced at almost $ 10 a dish, you would expect a certain level of quality with their dessert offerings. Definitely disappointed and can’t see how this place is going to survive… Be warned before you feel ripped off at this place…

I tried two desserts. One was durian pancakes and the other one was a bowl of mango fluffy ice with mango sauce and small mochi. Both desserts tasted very good. I couldn’t find the ice as fluffy as this one. It was excellent! The pancakes got great crepes. I visited Mango Mama Café and wanted to eat the mango fluffy ice in early August but the waitress said they did not have it and had to wait till mid August. Then I would like to try and order a matcha fluffy ice if the mango one was not available, but the waitress also said they did not have the matcha one as well. I was very disappointed. I was forced to choose another flavour — lychee fluffy ice. The ice was fluffy but not the flavour that I wanted to eat. I would probably go back and try other mango desserts.

Came here Sunday night after dinner and we were able to get a seat right away. Our group ordered mango with coconut noodles, a mango pudding, a mango sago with grapefruit, and a strawberry milkshake. The fresh mango was delicious in all the desserts, but they really charge a premium for their«imported» Philippine mango. Overall, everything was a really bad value for the price. Desserts that were probably worth trying here were priced even higher than most high end restaurant desserts in downtown($ 15+). A mango pudding for $ 8 should be pretty amazing, but it was not. The pudding was powdery tasting and was really nothing special. Most dim sum places make it better. The mango coconut noodle was a bit of a joke, with only 4 – 5 strands of thick, gelatinous coconut flavoured jelly, with a some mango on top. It was served pretty dry on a plate with a little mango drizzle. Nothing like the coconut noodle dessert comparable to Hong Kong or even the former 100% healthy dessert place in Richmond(not sure if its still there). The strawberry milkshake was not really a milkshake; It was a icy slush with cream added. I didnt get to try the mango sago with grapefruit, but was told it was nothing special either. I felt Mango Yummy was a much better value and delivered much more satisfaction to my fresh fruit dessert cravings. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place. They will need to adjust their pricing or start making amazing desserts that people will pay 8x the pricing of a whole mango for($ 8 to add extra mango to your dessert) if they want to succeed.

Mango Mama just newly opened this summer. They took over the shop from Café Waraku(Japanese style pasta café), it just right beside Lido HK style café. My hubby loves mango but I’m not a fans at all. As a dessert freak, I don’t mind to try it out. The selections were great and they have signature Philippines mango as dessert. Of coz, it’s not cheap! We ordered 2 mango desserts: Mango Napoleon cake with mango ice cream — Philippines mango were so juicy and sweet, ice cream was good too. I was quite disappointed of the pastry dough coz too flaky and very poor. Mango Sago with Pomelo, it’s great and delicious. I believe they only survive in Richmond for charging $ 14 a dessert.

Me and my group of 5 gfs were very excited to get dessert and heard this place was good. We sat down and there was too many options on the menu. A man came and took our order and said matcha fluffy ice was sold out and then said the mango cake was also sold out! Once the order was in. We waited about 45 min and another waitress comes and asked if we were ready to order! That was ridiculous. After reordered she says the matcha fluffy ice was sold out! After our food has arrived she gives us 5 plates instead of 6 and only 2 napkins after asking for more she only gives us another 2 more when clearly there was 6 of us!

Argh, they ran out of mango fluffy ice! Like seriously? And then get this, they’re not going to have it again until mid-August? WTF. In this age of modern refrigeration, transport, and Internet, it’s still possible that a food item is unavailable for 3 weeks? Are they shipping it from Taiwan or something? omgwtfailbbq.

They just opened so they were slow but our desserts were delish regardless. Ordered the grass jelly milk tea which was not too sweet(exactly how I like it. Mango shaved ice with mochi, mango & condensed milk. The mango was perfectly riped and tasted like mangos from Asia. Last but not least, we also had the durian pancake(good, but too frozen)

A recent addition to the steady influx of chinese/mango dessert joints that have been opening in recent months. Mango Mama is located in Central Square beside Aberdeen and Parker Place. Parking is not that big of an issue but could become quite troublesome on a friday-weekend in this summer heat. Please keep reading if mango and desserts interest you, because, this place is quite the teeter-totter for both me and my brother. I find that their store is very colourful and well thought-out, with ample seating for alteast 10 groups of 4. To speed up service, each table has a menu order sheet and a pencil, much like a dim sum restaurant. Unfortunately, Im not sure if the order sheet system even needs to exist considering the shoddy service time it took for our order to come out and with practically no customers in the store. My family ordered: Mango Sago, Coconut tapioca, and Durian pancakes. You’d think the Mango Sago and Coconut tapioca being a liquid and only needs tapioca and chunks of whatever to practically make itself and be out in about 2 – 3 minutes… nope. It took around 10 – 15 for those 2 bowls to come out, which is something of a mystery to us because in reality, it shouldn’t take that long. We can understand the pancakes taking that long, and those pancakes looked good and tasted wonderful. The Mango Sago tasted, well… normal. If you ever had a decent or good one? it’ll taste the same probably. No Hype, No losers here. The Coconut tapioca was again, normal. If you had it once, you had it all. The real surprise here is the Durian pancakes, which in my opinion was probably the best thing we ordered. It was presented nicely on a large plate, with carefully made crepes and a chunky durian filling with whipped crème. Honestly, the chunks of durian was the deciding factor for Mama Mango to receive«The best durian pancake» label from me as of this writing. compared to Icybar on kingsway, its a no contest, Mama Mango takes the cake. Served with chunks of durian instead of icybar’s strands? flakes? extract? I dont know what Icybar does with their durian pancakes but the texture and flavour was all there. Even though Mama Mango served our durian alittle cold and icy? the fact that it had texture and real chunks of the fruit inside and outside of the pancake, reassures my claim that its the best. Because of the poor service time, Mama Mango receives a lower grade, but the decent and comparable desserts deserve praise. I implore all dessert lovers to try Mama Mango and see for themselves, and who knows, maybe they’ll have stepped up their timing game and will get a better score in the future. An on-the-edge Three, out of Five.

Wow they weren’t kidding about the mango. Most of their desserts are heavily influenced on the mango. If you’re a huge fan of mango, this is the place. The décor is typical of what you would find at an Asian café, prices are very $$$, presentation is good and portions are decent. It’s on the high end ’cause they use fresh fruit which is a huge plus with me. The winner was the mango milkshake.

I am a little mixed on this one, I want to really like you, and yet I probably will be back. I saw this place planning to open one day while I was eating up right next door at Lido and I’m always excited to see what the new kid on the block has to offer, and it’s already in the name… ‘mango’ and lots of it, we already have a Mango Yummy not too far away from these guys, so what makes them stand out from the other… well from what I saw, definitely the spot, as this one is located near the Asian malls, and on the menu they sell their mango at a premium, cause as it states they sell Philippine’s mango’s. and anyone who knows about this orange fruit definitely goes for the one’s from the Philippine’s. I forgot what this location was prior to this dessert joint, but it’s roomy, with a few booths along the walls, some open tables along the other side, it’s comfy all around, and on this night of summer, a little chilly. The menu is brought along right away wiht a pencil for you to mark what you want. The menu is seperated into stuff like signature mango dishes, drinks, cakes, pancakes, ice cream, and a small section for salads… the only salty you’ll get here! While you wait for your order, you can watch the tv that was playing some random kids movie with Chinese subtitling, or you can listen to the Chinese music playing in the background. let the wait begin. It wasn’t the quickest, and I was a little surprised as it was 11pm, 12 is the closing, there was 2 other tables and it wasn’t like these desserts needed to be cooked. From the mango sago dishes, to the durian pancake I ordered, these things were chilly, so unless they were defrosting these to room temperature, why the wait, yet no matter. I didn’t get a chance to try my brothers dish, yet what I got… was plenty. Good chunks of durian, 3 little ones on top, more wrapped within the thin pancake layer, the only thing I have to say I was not use to was the semi frozen bite. Yes, the fruit was icy. each bite, which I find odd, yet I think I know why… cause the durian is too mushy on it’s own, and it’s able to keep it’s form. I didn’t have any problem with the cream ratio, and the nice thin layer of pancake, and for the price, not bad. I know they are just starting out, and I probably will come back, it’s rare enough that I saw that they take plastic, which usually is no big deal. but this is Richmond, a place that serves dessert… and most of the other ones are ‘Cash Only’, other than that, just add another one to the list of places where you can get your ‘sweet fix’.

Pure deliciousness! I loved their fresh mango cake! I saw the devastation on my husband’s face when I took a bite and fell in love with it(because it’s almost $ 12 for a serving and he knows I’ll always want to get it now haha) I do think it’s a bit overpriced and some people will complain about it but if you’re willing to pay for it, it’s worth it :) We also ordered a cold honey green tea and it was pretty good as well, but the cake was what really won me over. The portion isn’t very big but it’s definitely quality over quantity here. The staff was super friendly too, the waiter explained the mango might be a little sour because it was just brought in but it was really good regardless, just might be even more sweet on another day. We were there past 10pm and only one table was empty and the place was full! I give 4 stars instead of 5 since I’ve only been there once but I’ll be back for sure and I’ll probably have to update to 5 stars :) Excited to try out their other items!

The mango itself is delicious However I think there is some problem with the cream they use. The durian cheese cake tastes like disgusting ice brick that’s lacking cream cheese; along with a weird cream after taste on the tongue. The $ 14 mango Napoleon cake… Sigh It’s not horrible but definitely not worth $ 14. If I ever come back again, I would stick to mango slush or mango milkshake.
