Some of the staff in this place are a tad snooty. I walked in, had been trying on glasses for a good 10 minutes before someone came up to me. I thought finally someone was going to offer some help! Nope! I was told to place my coffee WITH A LID in the front window because I was going to spill on their computers. Let me state: to do so, I would need to physically walk over to their computers, which were nowhere near where I was trying on frames, REMOVE THE LID and then POUR IT onto the computer. I am an adult. I am fairly certain I am not going to do that. So, after rolling my eyes, I then placed my coffee in their window. Still, no one offered to help me.
I continued walking around, tried on pretty much every frame there, and finally chose two frames. A very nice sales person (not the witch who thought I was going to pour coffee all over her precious computer), very nicely looked up the prices of the frames and then wrote them down on a card. Both were reasonably priced, but I decided to mull it over while drinking my now cold coffee outside the store.
I went home, and decided to look up the frames on their website. I noticed that the prices were different. Hmm. How odd. In any case, one of them was actually half the price that I was quoted. So I ordered it online.
Bottom line: Their prices are not the same as their website, they don’t have the same selection, but it’s still nice to be able to go into a store rather than shopping online. Just don’t plan on pouring coffee on their computers. They don’t like that.

I am so happy with my experience at Clearly. I went to the physical store and got an eye exam (which is covered by OHIP if you meet certain requirements, like being under 19), but otherwise is $ 95 if I recall correctly. You also get $ 20 off your purchase of glasses if you pay for an eye exam. They were able to schedule me for the day I requested the appointment, which was great for me because I urgently needed glasses. The doctor was super pleasant, she was the nicest eye doctor I have ever been to. She answered all my questions and was just nice. After the exam, she asked if I needed help choosing glasses today, and I said yes, so she got one of the sales associates to help me. She was also super sweet and answered all of my many questions. She gave me great recommendations for glasses, and picked out certain styles I personally wouldn’t have picked up, but ended up being really nice on me. She gave me feedback on the styles she liked on my face, which also helped my decision. She was super patient and helpful and gave me really great advice! She also was not pushy at all, and did not try to push the more premium brands on me. They currently have a promotion running, which is buy one get one free glasses, which is an amazing deal! I ended up walking out with an order for 4 pairs of glasses, for the price that I used to pay for just one pair of glasses. I’ll update my review if my opinion changes when I return to pick up my glasses, but I highly doubt I’ll have to. I highly recommend.

Have been dealing with them online for a couple of years. Recently I received a pair from an online order that needed some adjustment.
Dropped in at the store on Queen St. W. They were very helpful and did the adjustments straight away.

Bought a frame online and went into the store to get them adjusted. Quick and painless.

I brought my mom here as she needed 2 new pairs of glasses and was nervous about the expense. Both of us were unsure what to expect, but we had a fabulous experience from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by a woman named Luna, who talked my mom through the different types of frames, and looked up her prescription right at the beginning to give her a sense of what kind of price point to expect. She left us alone to try the glasses on and did not hover, but was right there to assist when we had made a decision.
Two new pairs of glasses cost my mom under $ 230 ALL IN which is an unbelievable deal, and she will have them in a week. Luna was such a pleasure to work with, and the best part is we were in and out of the store within 30 minutes.
Overall, extremely good prices and excellent customer experience. Highly recommended!

Attentive and prompt service from the staff, and they’re really dedicated. They really want to make sure you get the perfect fit. I went through several contact fitting checkups (followups were free!), because the fit wasn’t right, and they made sure I left with the right pair.
I also got an eye exam from Dr. Ondhia, and she is fantastic. She was extremely thorough, and explained my eye conditions in great detail instead of just giving me a prescription and showing me the door. She’s really passionate about what she does!

Quick and efficient! Return policy sucks though. Only if you buy them online you can return anything– in store is always final sale.

I visited their Queen Street store early on in my search for an INEXPENSIVE pair of glasses — and I was initially under the impression that these guys were the ‘best deal in town’ based on the Marketplace story about high glasses prices and the same type of story on 60 Minutes.
And I guess these guys might have been a really good discount from standard retail optician prices — a year or two ago.
But I think the president of Clearly Contacts is taking his reputation as the place to save lots of money and I get the impression he raised his prices and is now milking his reputation — all the way to the bank.
Now I’m sure this place is still a bit cheaper than some rip-​off opticians — but I was still quoted $ 200 for basic frames and simple single vision lenses. That’s an OK deal — but NOT A GREAT DEAL.
So I left the store and got my prescription with my PD value included so I could buy online. I found Zenni and found I could buy about 5 pairs of good glasses for the price of one pair at Clearly Contacts.
Sorry Clearly Contacts — you’re clearly not the ‘great deal’ you used to be.

Had a great experience buying my latest pair of glasses here this week. I booked an eye exam, which was completed quickly and the staff were super helpful helping me choose frames that suited my face shape. No one pushed the expensive designer frames on me. In fact, the girl helping me agreed that the Evergreen frames, which were $ 79, looked better than any of the more expensive frames. I entered my info on the website and with all the discounts my new glasses (with my very heavy prescription) were $ 141.40. My glasses were delivered 2 days later and they’re comfortable and look great.
I think i may have been more apprehensive to order glasses on line if I hadn’t had the chance to try the frames on in the store. You really want to be sure. Clearly Contacts will pay for return shipping but I don’t have the patience or time to be mailing things back and forth.
Overall, I was impressed with the service, speed of deliver and the product. I would absolutely recommend Clearly Contacts to anyone, and will purchase my new contacts from them when I decide which brand I like.

After a bad run with another nearby optometrist these guys were very helpful and cheap to boot.
The best part is that the girl who served me took plenty of time with me to choose frames (my least favourite part) and didn’t try to push the pricey ones. I’ll probably order a second pair online but definitely come back here for exams and fittings.

I LOVE Clearly Contacts, and NO I did not at all know they had a physical store! HELLO, STORE!!!
It’s the only place I’ll buy my glasses. I don’t take care of my glasses, I’m very lousy. And it hurts me to pay $ 500 for a pair that I’ll destroy in a month. So I don’t buy. I would instead wear contact lenses for 18 hours just to avoid glasses.

THIS IS PROBABLY ON YOUR MIND: UH, THE QUALITY OF MY GLASSES?
I took advantage of the «first pair free» promo –available only on selected glasses of course. I was looking for something simple anyways. The first pair had a slanted bolt, which made the glasses look stupidly slanted on my face. I had this for 8 months because I was too lazy to return them. In the end I did return and received a new 100% perfect pair.
I paid $ 30 total for: shipping, the lenses, and anti-​glare? Something like that? It’s like $ 10 for each «service» you need on your lenses. I didn’t pay return shipping.
The first 3 months of owning this frame, it was heavy (I bought big ones) and sat on my cheeks uncomfortably. I reminded myself that they’re cheap, deal with them. A year later, my face gets tired after a long day (20 hours) of wearing glasses (before, I’d be tired at hour 6). But I love them a lot! They look great, they’re a tad heavy still (I’m –4) and they slide down my face often. But whatever! They work, they’re pretty. My friend’s glasses (from Clearly) broke :(
For the glasses snob out there, I’m actually a makeup snob. So I get you. I buy NARS. I don’t buy L’Oreal. But for glasses, I really don’t want to spend a fortune. Clearly Contacts sells brands like Kate Spade and Armani as well! (Mine, unfortunately, are the cheapest kind. But I get compliments all the time when I wear them. SO HA.)

I’ve always liked the company ever since my first order of contacts many years ago. Their physical store (less than a year old) is well laid out without feeling either overly sparse or cluttered the way optical stores are. Tina was lovely. She cheerfully and patiently demoed the various thin-​ness ratings of regular glasses for me and showed an expert eye for recommending sunglasses. Good company, fantastic prices and great service at this location. Highly recommended.

After a terrible experience with my old optical, I needed an eye exam, glasses, and contacts. I also get freaked out when it comes to medical appointments.
+I emailed them to make an appointment and they got back to me in 0.654 seconds (okay, like ten minutes).

+They are open on weekends, even the optometrist part (I work 9 – 5, so this is extra great)
+Everyone I talked to was incredibly nice
+I felt like all the staff, and the eye doctor, had time to talk to me.

+I didn’t feel like they were sleazy about trying to get me to buy stuff, at ALL (cough-​LensCrafters)
+They explained everything to me, even though I had tons of questions and was probably annoying

I can’t speak for the store itself, my review is based solely on my experience through the online store. Usually I don’t review my experiences with websites — but this was overall a great experience with Clearly Contacts and in addition to that, I RARELY give 5 stars.
My optometrist suggested I get reading glasses, although I didn’t NEED them — it would take some pressure off my eyes. I decided to opt for a way to just try them out before I spend a bunch of money on glasses I may not even use and Clearly Contacts allows for a first pair free (promo code: fpf) on their website, which is exactly what I needed.
Although their selection is limited, there is a broad choice of what you can choose within the limited selection, such as wayfarer glasses or squared, half framed, etc. While the glasses are free, the company does charge you for shipping, scratch protection, UV protection and whatever else you want (totally fine because you’re getting the glasses FREE).
The order went through quickly and I was sent a tracking number. The glasses came in 2 days and looked great, as described on the website! Not only did the order come quickly, I was in a hurry to get them because I was doing a lot of reading — so I called customer service and they were more than happy to track the order down and tell me the date it would arrive at my home.
I would highly recommend this website to do business. It is worth your money, the process is speedy, service is amazing and the quality of the product is perfect for what you spend!

It’s great that there is now a physical store where you can try on the glasses you see on their website. They do eye exams there and if you buy glasses they will take off $ 20 and an additional 20%. I bought frames with ultra thin, transition lenses with all the coatings and my insurance was able to cover the whole thing!
The whole staff is friendly including Dr. Ondhia. They can also adjust your glasses there so you don’t have to hear the judgmental comments from other stores for buying glasses online. I will be back in 2 years once I can claim new glasses from my insurance. Or maybe I’ll be back sooner, since the prices are so great!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. A friend told me that the store had opened. I had gone to a few other eyeglass stores and didn’t find anything I liked. Hakim had overcharged me two years ago. So I thought what the heck. let’s give it a try!
Mitchell was my sales person. He was great! Very patient and helpful. I had told him how the Hakim person critiqued all 6 frames I had picked out when my only question was: are these suitable for my face shape/​size?!
Mitchell then sat me down at the computer and he took me through the online process step by step. I couldn’t believe it. I got 3 pairs of glasses with all the bells and whistles for $ 483. Two pairs of the glasses I purchased clip-​ons as well, all included in that price.
I paid $ 50 for a contact fitting and examination. My trial pairs and my glasses will be shipped to my home. If I need to be refitted I can go back there and one of the staff will do so.
I would definitely recommend them and I will be back.

I’m SO happy this place opened. I have been buying from them for years online but it’s great to be able to try glasses on without the risk (note: the risk is only in the «ugh why» since they have an amazing return policy.
The staff was great. They left me to browse and helped me when I needed it. I didn’t feel forced to make a decision, or even purchase anything. I even got all of their opinions on my new frames.
I ended up getting Dior frames (w/​lenses, coating) for $ 160!

Store was supposed to be open today (according to their facebook page it was open) but when I arrived this afternoon it wasn’t. It looked open — glasses on the shelves, paper off the windows, staff inside — but it was closed.
Employees were in there and I opened the door to find out what was going on. They told me they didn’t know when they’d be opening, possibly that night (no other information at all)?
I tracked down their Toronto store number via their 1 – 866 call centre (why is it not online? just the 1 – 866 number is available online) and the call centre staff (based in Vancouver) told me that the store was open all day and had no idea why it wasn’t when I’d been there that afternoon. When pressed, they admitted that they couldn’t confirm that the Toronto store was in fact open.
Not wanting to go back to the store without calling first to confirm they were actually open, I phoned the Toronto number given to me at the 1 – 866 number. The phone just rang and rang. No answering machine. No one answered.
Seems like a big missed opportunity. I don’t know how a store can announce that it’s open and then not follow through.
Skip it. It seems to me like these guys can’t get basic logistics in order to get their store information online, train their customer service staff or to get an answering machine up and running (seems like basic stuff to me). Not sure I’d want to trust my money with them to execute on delivering my glasses.
