Specialties

SUPsurf provides Stand up Paddle Board lessons & SUP equipment (paddle board, paddle, leash, life jacket) rentals in the Toronto Beaches & Downtown Toronto. Our accredited instructors make it safe, fun & so easy to learn that most beginners are comfortable after just 1 lesson.

SUP (Stand Up Paddle boarding) is a great social outing for organized groups, families or friends. But if you’re by yourself you can join one of our paddle groups — or take a private lesson. All equipment is provided. (About one hour).

Once you’ve taken our Quick Start beginner lesson, you’re welcome to join any of our regularly scheduled SUP classes in fitness, yoga or social group paddles. Note: The beginner lesson or prior experience is a prerequisite for rentals and classes.

Location: Varies. Most often we meet near Kew/Balmy Beach, in the park at the foot of Maclean Ave, in the Toronto Beaches.

All lessons and rentals are by prior appointment only. Sorry, we’re unable to accommodate walk-in guests.

History

Established in 2012.

SUPsurf (for Stand Up Paddle — Surfing) is a family run business that was conceived on an awe-inspiring family trip to Hawaii some years ago. After trying SUP-surfing on the waves at Waikiki beach, Matt & John were hooked! They bought their first paddle boards in Toronto exactly 1 week later. Back home, Matt was approached by wide-eyed beach-goers who saw him ‘walking on water’ and were dying to try the SUP experience. Matt was happy to share. The demand kept growing and two years later, after becoming certified instructors through Paddle Canada, it was time to launch SUPsurf.

Matt’s a natural instructor, who teaches tennis, snowboard terrain-park skills and Stand Up Paddle boarding. Most of all, Matt teaches people how to get the most FUN out of whatever sport they’re learning as they build solid skills. John comes from a hands-on– training background as well and he developed many of the techniques that let first time paddlers get comfortable on their boards in just one hour.
