Great selection of beers, friendly service and awesome atmosphere even on weekdays right after work. Nice place to unwind and the food is quite tasty as well. I particularly enjoy their tapas dishes. On this night we got the charcuterie to share as a late evening snack along with a few pints. Can never go wrong with that combo!

The sun had long since risen the rain had started, it was a typical Vancouver weekend. The usual conversation began a la text message. Between me and a girl i love it is as follows.(warning may not be the actual text messaging that took place) Morning Beautiful. Morning worlds 6th sexiest man. I’m hungry should we go and eat. Sure the day is new and i’m feeling better then I have all week, lets do it!!! (15 minutes of arguing over where we should go with no concrete answer) I will get ready. So will I… I think Sloths are amazing OMG I love sloths they are like so cute Not as cute as Lemurs Holy F*** I forgot Lemurs existed, today will be a fine day lets go out into the world! (2 hours later I was picked up) She rolled up in a fine looking black sports car with all those features nobody needs but everybody loves and our day began. We were still without a place to go I suggested a Diner i like dinners the food isn’t the best but the prices are and that’s the kind of person I am cheap cause this city is far too expensive to both live and eat in it’s one or the other for most people for me it’s both as cheap as possible So i can spend my money on collecting stuff that looks like B list celebrities. I have a blurry picture of a goat taken in Nepal with a really old camera that looks like either Tara Reid or Clint Howard depending what the lighting in the room is like and which way you hold the picture, a rock that no kidding looks like that kid from that show in the 80’s…yeah that’s the one good job I couldn’t remember the name but you did and i’m proud of you. It’s just a cool hobby that i’m sure most of you also share a passion for anyways back to the review at hand. We were cruising down Cambie in what I wish was a ’64 and thought he there’s a parking spot lets go to this diner, I was suspicious right off the bat the diner had a sign in Chinese and English and I was right it was more of a Chinese food place then a Diner if they don’t serve grilled cheese you probably aren’t a diner. Don’t get me wrong I fricken love Almond Chicken and Chow Mein as much as they next pasty white guy(the Canadianized versions though) but I want diner food. We had already paid for parking so at this point we were SOL it was somewhere withing walking distance or we just sit in the car playing EYE-Spy and get out monies worth out of parking. My Beautiful GF suggest he there’s a place called BierCraft again suspicious we all remember what a certain few crazy Germans did back in the day and i’m not too good with Languages and seems pretty German to me or at least near Germany. So anyways we had a nice long talk and decided we could forgive Germany for what they did after all is winning the World Cup a bad thing? Anyways they gave us LeVar Burton and that smart guy I’ve seen in pictures Nichola Telsa Einstien Alberto or something he had the energy is equal to the velocity of light squared or something thingy. So there we were headed into BeirCraft and I was like no we can’t do it isn’t that Band Aqua from Germany but alas I was wrong they were Danish thanks Wikepedia. Plus turns out this place has nothing to do with Germany(I never said I was Smart) it’s more about Belguim and Belguimium beers and things I think and I liked that movie In Bruges with Colin Ferrell it’s good check it out. So we got inside and they asked high table or regular table… Now if you’re thinking of opening a place an idiot could think was German maybe don’t say High or anything that could be mistaken for Heil I almost bolted out into traffic. I said I like Chairs and we got a booth. We then perused(word of the day Calendar 201595% loff last week for the win) the menu and decided on Coffee and Green Tea to start and studied the menu looking for what we would eat. I orders the BeirCraft Burger cause when In Rome order a Hamburger or something Hail Cesar(again touchy subject with it sounding like… and the Germans). I got cheese on it and fries(they called them frites on the menu so I did out loud but i didn’t feel great about it and won’t let it Happen again) as the side. At this point I had to run to a drug store to buy ummm well drugs not that kind though the well yeah i guess it was the time I got back the food was being prepared and my coffee had arrived. The beautiful GF got an omelette with 3 things inside which she had mentioned earlier, So i saw a movie once where the guy ordered for the girl and it was all romantic and s*** so i was like I’ve been waiting my whole life to do it so I was like I’ll have the aforementioned(2 words off that calendar in one post totally worth the $ 16.99 deal) burger with cheese and FRIES and then was like she will have omelette with spinach, back bacon and goat cheese(she may have wanted Feta i can’t remember and she didn’t correct me or complain) wasn’t nearly as romantic as the movies everyone was confused Burger=10 tasty patty Fries= so good i tried to order a bathtub full togo Service=Stellar

My first visit to BierCraft was few years back on a boxing day morning with a girl after crazy shopping. I swear it was one of the best sandwich I had, the bread was crispy outside and soft inside, it was so fresh and the beef pattie and melted cheese was awesome. However with my last experience for brunch was terrible and I am NOT going back again. I ordered a mushroom melt sandwich. One corner of my sanwich was burned(but I thought, it’s fine just don’t eat that then.) I digged in to my sandwich right away(without eating the salad first) as I was pretty hungry. It was luke warm(not impressed). The juice from the mushroom soaked into the baguette already(guess what, the bread is very soggy as 2⁄3 of the bread is wet already). It was so gross and I couldn’t even finish it. The pull pork sandwich my fiancée ordered was average and the BierCraft burger my brother ordered was good(except one of the corner of the burger is also burned). Ordered a tea as well and I asked for another tea bag to put into big pot. The waiter didn’t notify me that I will get charged for 2 teas when I requested for a 2nd tea bag. I just saw it on the bill and just left it… but the bill added an extra Coffee that we didn’t ordered. Not impressed with the whole experience. Thanks BierCraft for a great sandwich experience few years back. I am not coming back anymore, for any of your food and service.

We had a great experience with our waiter Krysten. She remained patient and kind as my date and I blindly mulled over the beer list. We gave her suggestions and she provided a flight that absolutely knocked it out of the park. I couldn’t believe it! Thanks for an awesome experience Krysten, we will definitely be back!

Food is not good. Had mussels, poutine and pork tacos. Mussels were tiny, poutine gravy disappointing, tacos had veggies that were clearly from a bag and very old. Excellent selection of beer, but overpriced You can do much better in Vancouver

Likes: Very diverse beer menu. Clean dining area and bathrooms. Fast and friendly service. Meals are consistently well prepared. Great place if you are a beer hobbyist and you like mussels. Nice patio seating. Nice décor. Dislikes: With exception of mussels the food is overpriced and uninteresting. Small breakfast/brunch portions. «Hashbrowns» are salty and dried up potato nuggets. Really inconsistent menu(used to be good).

We came for dinner on a Thursday night with our two preteens. They don’t take reservations for less than 6 people. We arrived around 5:45 and there were lots of seats inside. We were pleasantly surprised by the nice décor inside. The outside looked a bit basic, and confusing(as we almost walked into the barber shop on the corner). We ordered 4 entrees: 1) Mussels with white wine and garlic, add fries — this was very good. Light and delicious sauce. Mussels were large and fresh. A few unopened ones though. 2) Mussels with Thai curry sauce, add bread — although it was tasty, I found this too sour. 3) Burger with Caesar salad — very large size, fresh and good. 4) Mac and cheese with beef short rib. — this was a large portion, lots of cheese and short rib. However, we didn’t expect the sauce to have tomato flavour in it. So it’s not the standard mac and cheese sauce, but it was still tasty. We ordered the special on tap: Indian Pale Ale. We thought this was a bit bitter. This was a very enjoyable dinner. Very relaxing atmosphere, great service. We will definitely come back. We will try mussels with the other sauces.

Great selection and a knowledgeable waitstaff. The Kasteel Red was fantastic although they ran out. :( The sesame tuna was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of aioli and ginger. One waiter resembles a mature Jason Sudekis. Nice guy.

We had the worst experience dining at this place. The food was bad and the service was even worse. Don’t waste your time by coming here.

The beer was awesome! We tried the Gulden Draak, St. Bernardus and Grimbergen, and they all tasted delicious. I would give them 5⁄5 for their beer, but unfortunately their Mojito is a big disappointment. It tasted like iced water with lime. No hint of alcohol. Definitely not worth paying for.(Unless you want iced water with lime. :))

My cousin recommended this place to my husband and I since we wanted brunch. I’ve never even heard of this place. But we like trying new food so we went and was pleasantly surprised! The ambiance was great, very cosy and we sat at a corner booth at the back. The seats themselves sagged in when I sat down, so that wasn’t great. And there was a huge draft above us, but they had heating coming out from underneath the booth seats so it was ok. I ordered the French toast, which was a huge portion and delicious!!! I would definitely order it again. And my husband ordered the eggs Benedict, with smoked salmon which wasn’t good too. Although I preferred my French toast

Brunch French Toast with toasted pecans, sausage, and hash browns was very good. Along side with 4 tasters of Belgian beer. I was very a satisfied customer that will be back for more. Very wide selection of tasty beer, can’t wait to try some more! Traditional/old school bar atmosphere.

A few of us sampled a few of the tapas items(plus mussels) from the menu, and I can say that I was pretty happy with most of the items we had! The mussels were delicious, I think we had the orleans one with a few slices of sausage in it. The mussels tasted fresh and the broth was great! We ordered this with chips and bread(though they forgot to bring the chips.!). My only complaint was that it was kind of a measly amount of bread for $ 2. def not enough for dipping with mussels! The other dish we loved was the poutine. I think this is the best poutine I’ve had in Vancouver so far, and I say that because the miso beer gravy was just amazing, you could really taste the beer in it! I know standard poutine is cheese curds + heavy beef gravy, which yes, I’m sure other places serve up better. But their take on gravy here was just excellent, I’d come back here just for that! One thing I will advise you NOT to get is their tapas order for Philly cheese Steak bites. I don’t see it on their online menu right now, so it either might have changed, or it just hasn’t been updated yet. It was $ 9 for 3 deep-fried pieces of bread, with an incredibly dry and overdone steak. I hardly ever leave food behind, as I don’t like wasting, but I felt this was inedible and we left behind the entire plate. All in all, it was a good night. I’d come back here for mussels and poutine for sure. I’m not much of a drinker, but its a good place to come for drinks with a bunch of friends :)

Garden Burger tasted more like curry burger, but still quite tasty. Just don’t count on the«nut & veggie» part of the patty to show up taste-wise. Burger size is also pretty substantial. +$ 1 mushroom add-on had a pitiful amount of mushrooms and therefore can’t be recommended. +$ 2 soup substitution(for the fries or salad normally served with the burger) was really decent. Soup is normally $ 6. On the Sunday I went, it was a very thick and hearty stew-like curry lentil in a medium bowl. For $ 13-$ 15 you get good portion for price, even if it’s not a gourmet burger. This in comparison with some restaurants nowadays serving«gourmet» burgers at $ 13-$ 15 with no side. The menu is otherwise basically pretty normal, safe, boring stuff.

Great service, but the bier-cocktail I got was too sweet(the Hattbanger I believe!) However it was my fault, since I did ask the waitress for her recommendation and she warned me about the drink being very sweet. Ah well; at least it was balanced well with the addicting popcorn. And fantastic lunch specials, super affordable!

So I went for an actual drinks and dinner here and it didn’t live up to my expectations. First I give it to the staff… super friendly and accomodating… but…let’s get to the nitty gritty. It was jam packed at 7 pm so there wasn’t much seating to choose from. We were first seated in the dining are, which is kind of dingy and frankly it smelled bad. Also, you can hear the kitchen. The smell was bothering me so much I asked to be moved to the front bar area(which is nicer than the dining area) and had more of the vibe you were looking for that night. There isn’t enough staff. This is just my opinion bc our waitress was so busy it took her awhile to even give us water and take our first order for drinks. The food was ok. The poutine was too salty, the fish tacos were puny and could have tasted way better. The wings were good. I don’t see my self coming back here unless it’s for a casual beer.

Lots of comfy seating inside and is bigger than it looks on the outside. It’s dark, cozy, and perfect for a rainy or cool day. Otherwise, some patio seating is available on a sunny day. The brunch was amazing. The 3 egg omelet was hearty and cooked perfectly. It came with a nice side of mixed greens and hash browns which were large chunks of deep fried potato(slightly dry and a bit too crunchy for my liking). French toast is really unique and served with baguette bread instead is your standard square slices. Overall, the experience was great. Service was friendly and efficient. Space was clean. Food came out quickly and serve hot, hot, hot. Oh and don’t forget the amazing beer selection. The tasters are a perfect way to try different new beers from around the world.

[Come for the Beer, stay for the food] It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Biercraft so last Saturday evening, I thought I’d see what’s cooking(or brewing). I wasn’t able to make a reservation the same day and was told to arrive by 6pm to avoid the rush. Lady Luck must’ve been on our side because we got the last table for 4 — there was a huge lineup 10 minutes later. From the outside, Biercraft looks like a tiny hole in the wall but is not the case. Inside, the front/left side of the restaurant is more casual with bar stools and tables. The ambience is louder and lighting dimmer and is more like a pub. We were seated on the other side in the dining room where the atmosphere is more like a nice restaurant. The beer selection here is excellent, hence the name. There’s a HUGE variety of craft, microbrew and imports both on tap and bottled. The sizes, alcohol content and prices can vary significantly($ 5-$ 15) depending on the rarity of the beer. I started things off with a pint of Maisel Weisse at the recommendation of the waitress. While this was light and refreshing, my favorite here is still the Wittekerke Wit(I’m a big fan of the Belgian witbiers). Since I drove, I kept the drinks at a minimum(this time). In addition to having a great beer menu, the food quality is excellent as well. I started with a half dozen fresh oysters which were good but not great. I had a hankering for oysters but there’s better places for that. The lamb shank was my main and it was excellent. The meat was soft and tender and the juices oozed out when I bit in. Sucking the marrow out of the bone was also super delish! Oh, and there was a $ 3 discount if you order an appy + entrée. I sampled some of my dining companions’ food and it was just as good. The tomato and bocconcini salad looked gorgeous and tasted just as good. The Marrakech Chicken was tasty as well though not as pretty as the salad. Biercraft is a good option if you’re looking for a great meal with an excellent beer. Definitely a repeat for me.
