Take out order: had 4 orders in total of different fish combos and oysters — all were wrapped, none marked as to what was in them. Fish was good and hot, only tasting«ok». Definitely used old oil, spoiling the flavour of the fish, ruining the fries(which were also mushy). No condiments(ketchup, vinegar, tartar sauce) were included. My immediate craving for fish and chips filled, I don’t know if I’ll be back. Also notable was that this was my second try at this location, though living across the street the entire time it has been open. My first experience echoes that of another Unilocaler — if you arrive(or even call for take-out) even 30+ minutes before closing you will be(very rudely) refused service and turned away, even if they are open and currently serving other diners. I should have let that be the deciding experience years ago.

Delicious fish & chips. We dined in and had the cod 2x fish dinner and it came with hand cut chips and coleslaw. Excellent service as well. We travelled to get to this one. Recommended if you’re in need for fish & chips.

I have to say I am shocked that they do not even honour their posted hours last evening after working all day we raced there to make the 8Pm close time But I guess they do not care how or who the effect I thought open hours of operation were in place so people knew when to visit your business. We arrived there at 7:30 an entire half hour before their posted closing time only to find some unhygienic individual barking at at us we are closed after merely trying the door as the hours again were till 8pm and the open sign was still turned on in the window and there were still customers seated at a table. I find this totally unacceptable and will make sure I never make this mistake again I will go elsewhere for my fish and chips in this city there are many choices available to us of business that wish to serve their public properly. I wasted my time rushing there to ensure I was there before close then made to feel like an ass for trying to enter a business during their posted hours of operation

Best fish & chips I have had in over 60 years! Had the 1 piece halibut meal and a pint of Guinness, just after the lunch peak on Feb. 19, 2015. Fries were hand cut, hot and crisp, perfect golden, lightly battered halibut filet. A large portion of fresh hand cut coleslaw, very crisp with perfect dressing. The restaurant is clean and the staff very friendly. No bargain price but about the same for a quality halibut & chip meal in Vancouver or Victoria. If you love fish & chips you should pay them a visit.

I must have had the wrong day for F&C. Chips were cold and soggy, onion rings to oil have. Halibut was dainty but tasty. Prawns are ok, better F&C in Steveston by far.

I am surprised by the amount of good reviews for this place! Maybe we just caught them on a bad day, but the fish was tasteless and soggy the chips were not much better probably the worst i’ve had in Vancouver! It was very disappointing and i did not eat my whole meal as it was not enjoyable at all. It defiantly did not live up to its slogan ‘the best fish and chip shop in town’. I will not be going back and i will advise friends to stay clear of this place. But to end on a positive note the prices were reasonable, the servers were friendly and the food came out fast.

I don’t do ayce generally due to the bottomless pit that is my stomach and my inability to say no to a good deal. Note: actually eating All. You. Can. Eat. is a recipe for both physical agony and new wardrobeage to accommodate your new-found girth. HOWEVER(lawd help me), I haven’t eaten fish n chip for almost 10 years. I heart me some batter fried fishies. I rationalized that if I didn’t touch the chip I’d be fine. Right? right. *shaking head* For $ 12 you get as much fried white fish and fries as you can stuff down. With a squeezie bottle of unlimited tartar sauce, no less, and bottomless beverage. What could go wrong? Halibut this is not, but the whitefish they use is flavourful and firm. The fish pieces are generally cut smaller so that even if your eyes are bigger than your stomach, the level of waste is much less. The batter is crisp and not too thick. It’s clearly freshly fried and comes hot to you. I asked for a lemon wedge to squeeze on top. Yes. Maybe it was nostalgia, or the fact that I haven’t eaten this dish in over a decade, but it was freakin delicious. And, it was a great enough deal that I wasn’t obligated to kill myself eating it all as I knew I could return. Definitely will be making another visit.

It won’t make you sick, but you won’t remember the meal. Fries are bad, fish is mediocre, batter is bad, tarter sauce is standard with nothing special or unique. Popcorn shrimp is genuinely terrible and Halibut Burger is poorly thought out. When you compare this place to something like Crab Shop, it is just embarrassing. Good location for a tourist trap and hungry ferry passengers, which is consistent with C-lover’s strategy.

All you can eat fish and chips for $ 12?. Hell yes! After biking all over Stanley park and downtown Vancouver, we were starving. Saw this place in one of the guide books and decided to stop in. Holy crap was it good. Hubby had the halibut sandwich andv never offered me a bite so I know it was good. My fish and chips were the best I’ve had in years. Tartar sauce was hands down the best thing and made the fish that much better rather than masking the fish like it normally does. Cheap alternative for lunch if you want something easy and really tasty

Why did I do this to my body? Omg, I thought this would be a perfect post workout mean but waaaaayyyy too much of a good thing. The fish is lightly battered and decent. The fish flakes apart nicely under the pressure of a fork. The fries are actually pretty decent. They left it up to you to add the right amount of salt and vinegar. Its a really decent restaurant and one of the few in the city that does all you can eat fish and chips

Today’s visit consist of the Take Out Special: «$ 12.99 for 4 pieces of fish and chips + 591 mL bottled drink» The pieces of fish were rather small pieces, but the guy did give me three extra pieces as part of the deal. The batter was light and fish was cooked well. It was hot! It was pretty good, but one complaint is that the fish has a really bad after taste. Possibly from the old oil. Fries on the other hand — plain and blah. It was cooked long enough and the potatoes were grainy. They come unseasoned — which was probably my fault — I should have got some salt and malt vinegar. $ 12.99 is nice summer special. The other place would have cost about $ 14 for two piece and fries.

For a mere $ 11.95, you can stuff yourself full of delicious, fluffy pieces of fish! Everything is made to order to ensure that the fish is crispy and hot! That way, you don’t get disgusting unidentifiable lumps baking under a heat lamp haha! Aside from the batter, the fish itself is very moderately seasoned, which is why they have unlimited tartar sauce for you on the side! Did I mention the ayce menu also includes bottomless pop? One can only eat so many pieces of fish though, you get tired of the taste after 5+ pieces haha. However, this place is still a great deal! Im

The«fish» part of the fish and chips are quite good… and the fact that it is all you can eat makes it a very good deal indeed. However, the«chips» part leaves a lot to be desired. I haven’t the evidence to say that they are frozen chips but they certainly seem to be. Now, this doesn’t make sense from a business model point of view. If you want to fill your patrons’ stomachs with something LESS costly to you(it is, after all, an all you can eat establishment), it seems to me that you would want to have the tastiest fries possible; that way, the patrons will eat more fries than the more costly fish. It really makes a difference when you cut your own fries from scratch and then cook them to perfection. I would certainly go to this restaurant more often if their fries didn’t taste like they were from McDonald’s.

depending upon the cook, this place can be a hit, or miss. Sometimes the fish is very good, other times soggy. I mean, tip the fish end first and watch the water drip through the batter. They not thaw the fish out before cooking? Or did they fry it right off the boat?

For $ 11.95, you can indulge in decent all you can eat fish & chips and bottomless pop — it doesn’t get better than that. I commend you if you finish your first round but it’s highly unlikely you’d need a second. The first dish already includes a full plate of fries with four big pieces of fish on top. I really liked my piping hot and crispy fries, the batter for the fish was also surprisingly tasty. Despite the fish being just a tiny bit overcooked, it still tasted decent. However, I did find a few fish bones inside my fish so just a warning to the fast eaters. Service was good, I barely noticed that there was only one girl running the whole front since she kept checking up on us to see if we wanted a refill or another order of anything. The best part of this AYCE experience at C Lovers is how they don’t try to fill you up on fries or pop, you can request for more pieces of fish only it that’s what you want. Keep in mind that this location does their last call at 8:30 to close for 9:00(although their website says otherwise).

Good service and value, the fish and chips here are quite tasty and if you go all you can eat they give you the option of just getting more fish without the chips. Only one server on a relatively busy night but she handled it well.

Frozen food — from fries to probably the fish. The texture of the food was just terrible, if you mess up frying a piece of battered fish and potatoes you are on the way to failure. We tried the classic cod with onion rings and fries. Disappointing with the amount of food, made me regret not getting the AYCE option. The batter was not good, it was falling apart and wasn’t crispy when it got to the table. Service was bad as well, the girl couldn’t even put on a smile and just kept calm and carried on. It was quite overwhelming the whole experience. Wouldn’t come back even if you paid me. F–

This is pretty good All-U-Can-Eat Fish ‘n Chips, mateys! Denman Street has seen its fair share of Fish ‘n Chips joints. Mr. Pickwick’s included. Not one of them appeared to really stand their ground like C-Lovers does. Be it the All-U-Can-Eat concept, or the fact that they are now the only Fish ‘n Chips joint in the West End(I’m not saying you can’t get Fish ‘n Chips on any other menu in the West End, just that they won’t be a strictly Fish ‘n Chips joint like this one). Let’s talk about the All-U-Can-Eat, considering it is the main attraction to C-Lovers. Do not bother bringing your expectations down just because it’s an offer for bottomless Fish ‘n Chips and you’re thinking«There’s no way it’s going to be real fish!». It is, my friend. It is. Of course, you won’t be given no Halibut or Haddock. But Cod is just as spankin’! All for just under $ 12(plus tax)! The REFILLS: Generous. So generous. They actually behave like they realise it’s an All-U-Can-Eat concept. They will ask you if you want a refill — Fish or Chips or both!(You’d be a downright CAPTAIN to eat more than 3 rounds!) The HOURS: ANYTIME! They used to have a time frame for All-U-Can-Eat, but now it’s just anytime, any day! The VALUE for $: Awesome. All you need to take away from this review is that the Fish ‘n Chips rock. And you can lay your sensitive F&C tastebuds safely in the hands of C-Lovers. **Word on the website is that there is a new All-U-Can-Eat with a pint for $ 14.99!

The ALL U CANEAT is a bad idea. I never thought I would say that, but it’s true. We came here for dinner one night because I am swayed by advertising. They had an ad in the newspaper, and I thought might as well. This was my first time at this location. It’s the old Knight and Day. They have a dining room and a takeout counter just within the door. For the ALL U CANEAT deal, you get five pieces of fish to start, a side of fries and a refillable pop or ice tea all for $ 11.95. The serving is massive. I can’t imagine asking for more fish. The fish is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It’s really good, don’t get me wrong… it’s wonderful, it’s just a lot. D polished off her plate and looked like she never wanted to eat again. I ate all the fish, but left some fries… V ate only half his dish and cursed us for convincing him that this was a good idea. Well, I thought it was… Service was wonderful. Our server came back repeatedly and brought us numerous refills of pop and water(I guess that’s why we could eat all our food) without having to ask. She also came back a bunch and asked us if we wanted more fish that we refused. I would go back and maybe order from the regular menu. The food is great, but I can’t eat that much fried fish. Maybe fried shrimps… ahaahaha…
