the Gruyère Fondue with bread cubes, chorizo and veg was really good. Love the cheese. It was nice and gooey. Yes the cheese has a lot of flavor to it. Not to mention it was a pretty good portion size for an appy. As well, the bread cubes are fantastic. The Duck prosciutto + pineapple with cilantro crème fresh and chili oil was ok. I found it a bit too spicy. It does have a weird unique taste to it. Something I am not used to. The espresso crème brûlée with biscuit was not bad. I like crème brûlée but not a big fan of espresso or say coffee. So this was unique in a way. Décor is definitely interesting. If you look carefully and pay attention, you might see some interesting things. Like a certificate of graduation from University of Phoenix and majoring in Rock, Paper Scissors, or a bizzard animal head etc. Well just look around and you know what I mean. Place is a bit small. But it is cozy. Would I come back. Yes but definitely trying different pizza and desert from the ones I tried yesterday.

So glad I found this place ! Amazing service and great atmosphere — music was great, service was A+ and the food was delicious. I got the chorizo pizza and my boyfriend got the the meatloaf and both were excellent ! Definitely will come back :)

The best place in the city for date night. Mondays are rock paper scissors tournaments hosted by the seriously funny Scott Patey. Wednesdays comedy lab see some big names for a cheap ticket.

Not understanding the high reviews here. I get that it’s a «local joint”-type ambiance, but there’s a fine line between a place with character and one that looks dumpy. Though maybe it was the food and staff, not the ambiance, that led to that impression: the fish tacos were a single deep-fried fishstick, cut diagonally and placed on two taco shells(for $ 14, I expect better), and the manager and his partner stood right outside the open window and smoked the whole time we were in there, causing smoke to fill the entire shoebox of a restaurant and making the food taste like an ashtray. Don’t go here, I would never go back!

Drinks prices are great! The pizza isn’t anything to talk about but it’s not horrible. I don’t think I’ll be back. The music is way to loud. Couldn’t even hear that people across the table. This place was talked up way to much.

Absolutely impeccable service. They remember my name months after the last time I have been in. The halt hour is reasonable but not great. The flatbreads are the best thing on the menu.

Simply amazing food and atmosphere. It can get a bit crowded on a weekend but the food is totally worth it. The perfect place for vegetarians or organic food eaters. Try out the four mushroom pizza– no other pizza could compare!

Full marks for doing what they can given the size and apartment like living room feel to the place– so, small rectangle basically. It is designed to be very much like a traditional canadian outback cabin with certain trinkets on the wall. Good establishments should have limited food and beer options so as to perfect their offerings which this place does. The beer and food is excellent. I’ve not had a better poutine in canada than their chorizo poutine for $ 14 — literally stunning…(yes you’ve heard this before I’m sure, but I eat poutine more than I like to admit, and I would pay you if you could find a better one!). So the only down side for me is that it’s not on the water with mountain views, it’s not a log cabin, and it’s a tad small. I like a pub to have little nooks to hide oneself and read a paper… i also wouldn’t frequent it at the weekend as it would just be rammed and spoil my old fuddy duddy ways of wanting solitude and a pint!.. .speaking of pints, a pint is not a pint in canada. Asked for a pint(20oz) and got a sleeve(16oz) with the tide out if you know what I mean! Cost, $ 6.50 for probably 14⁄15 oz with tip which equates to $ 7.50 for 15oz = $ 1 per 2oz or $ 10 per pint in olde money! That really must be sorted out by government sooner rather than later. We shouldn’t be paying MORE than double what is paid by most westernized countries.- I’m a law abiding apathetic canadian citizen like you, but even my arse is smarting from the amount of boys dormitory horseplay the BC government is forcing me to endure!

Great local bar on Cornwall serving the locals of Kits point area. The décor inside is fantastic(think rustic US country bar with a hipster twist), as my friend said to me on his first visit«great find». I used to live next door to this bar small intimate bar and really miss it. There’s an open mic night every week(sorry I can’t remember the day). The food is limited and beer selection smaller than it should be. But this is all about the local setting and easy atmosphere.

Such a cool experience. Small restaurant a walking distance away from Kits beach. Really good tunes playing, good menu with eclectic items to choose from. Lamb pizza and pouting are best bets. Definitely a comfort food joint in Vancouver worth stopping by. Great service too, extra attentive which you can’t complain about.

I had an excellent brunch here last week with my gf who has been raving about the food for months. The vibe inside is very laidback with hunting cabin-ish décor. Cozy but more incandescent lighting would help it feel warm & fuzzy. I tried the Pinocchio skillet — organic spicy chorizo, sundried tomato, peppers, red onion, smoked gouda and basil. What’s also missing from this list is that it comes with 2 eggs(any style) and potato cubes and a balsamic vinaigrette salad! I got my eggs scrambled. The portion size was perfect and the flavors were incredible! By far, the best quality breakfast I’ve had in Vancouver for only $ 15! My only gripes which I will correct next time is that the skillet was unnecessarily greasy and I think one of my veg substitutions was missed. That’s okay. I would definitely recommend asking that the skillet be cooked up without oil, as the chorizo gives off fat and there is probably ample residual grease on the grill. Common restaurant problem. Otherwise, it was amazing! I will definitely return for this skillet and I want to try things from the dinner menu — perhaps on St Patty’s!

It’s very rare that you find a hidden treasure that ROCKS on a monday night. My friends were visiting from out of town and we stopped by this place for dinner around 730. We ate, laughed and by the time we knew it, it was 930. The place was rammed. We asked the server why it was soooo busy for a Monday. We were then informed that they host a ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS tournament every monday night. My friends and I had to stay to see what kind of attraction this simple game brought. We soon discovered that this was undoubtedly a cult classic in the area. The host was incredibly charming and funny. His name is Scott Patey(Google him). The fans of this event seem to be frequent visitors as there were chants happening for certain parts of the night. SWEEP!!! Could be heard from blocks away if someone happened to get knocked out without a win. For a place this packed, the service was remarkably on point. The staff were friendly and also participated in the game. In fact, the bartender WON! Believe me when I say, there is no way to rig this game. I played and was knocked out in the second round. My friend from out of town was a semi-finalist. The Food: Creative pizzas that were absolutely delicious. We had a Bacon and Pear pizza that oozed with ma-cheese-mo. Loved it. We also had an order of Dry ribs and Poutine towards the latter part of the night that totally hit the spot. Deep fried pork ribs with the perfect amount of salt was just was you wanted next to your pint of Granville Lager. The poutine has a Guiness Jus that made it really tasty. Highly recommend this place for a quiet dinner. BEWARNED! Mondays get CRAZY!

I came here one Tuesday night in support of my friend performing during open mic. The way it works is you show up around 8pm to put your name on the list to perform. They have a few guitars and keyboards available if you aren’t able to lug your own instruments. I can’t comment on the food other than to say it looked and smelled amazing and if I didn’t feel like I’d be judged for having a second meal, I would have ordered a pizza. I did have a couple pints, however, and appreciated their small but varied beer selection. Also, they have a daily cocktail special. That night was $ 4 rum & coke. Pretty good price, if you ask me. I would agree with Emily-Anne’s note about Corduroy being a little bit of «East Van on the West Side.

My expectations were blown away by this little nondescript bar. Any place that has rock paper scissors tourneys, comedians, and 20 gild-framed jesus pictures close to where I pee, is already fantastic in my eyes… Usually bar food is hit and miss classics, or a wacky menu that tries to cover a lot of tastes and ethnic variety, but Corduroy keeps it simple and goddamn delicious. I was thoroughly amazed at the food. It wasn’t just good bar food, it was exceptional restaurant food. We shared the truffled mushroom pizza(thinner cut mushrooms please!), the roasted pear, gorgonzola, arugula and mustard crème fraîche pizza, and the spicy lamb, caramelized goat cheese and mint pesto pizzas. All were so good, and the crust was some of the best I have had in my life. The spicy lamb was the best pizza I have had in years… and I have had amazing pizza. The poutine is great too and the duck salad was a delicate balance of flavours and went great with beer. These owners are smart. The menu is purposely small, but done incredibly well and the food goes great with their drink specials. I wish I had a corduroy in my hood. C’mere Corduroy… I want to get in your pants. 3⁄30 for 30 awesome days of Unilocal
