Amazing brunch. Cute little place with really simple but cool décor. Went around 2pm on a Saturday, no wait & got to sit by the window. The Caesar’s were delicious, one of the best in the city. Not usually a fan of Blood Mary but this place makes an awesome one! The food was another level. I had the Wellington plate, suggested by our polite & lovely server. My partner had the Grub Benny. Presentation was amazing, the plate sizes are massive. Every bite was delicious. Loved the organic habenero hot sauce! Cannot wait to return for dinner!

Been here twice in the past month or so, and absolutely loved my meal. They changed up their menu the second time, but still offered a great variety(one dish for each type of meat and vegetarian options). I had their lamb entrée twice, and both exceeded my expectations. The appetizers are a good size and enough to share around the table. The desserts are simple and classic. My favourite is the apple strudel! It’s a small place, so make sure you make reservations. It’s a nice place to bring friends, family, or a date!

The food is epic but the service is not only pathetic but completely unacceptable in the restaurant industry. I only ate half my meal and asked for the rest to be packed. They accidentally threw it off then offered to only remake the sides(I had only had half the main) and so I asked for a discount and they decided to only take $ 5 off. After talking to them several times they took the cost off but this incredibly bad service is enough to ensure our group won’t be returning despite the great food. A lot of the restaurant experience is in the way a restaurant treats you in addition to serving great food — and that aspect does is taken away by the terrible interactions here.

I went here with a friend about a week ago. The whole experience at grub was outstanding. The location was cute. The staff were super friendly and helpful. And the food of course was delicious! I’m looking forward to going back!

First day in Vancouver and we wanted to eat some type of Italian food, along with Canadian dishes for lunch. Simple menu – classic food with modern ingredients cooked to enhance natural flavors. They also do have a full bar. For two, we got the flat bread($ 14) over-dried tomato, arugula pesto and fresh mozzarella and Shellfish Stew($ 17) local mussels, clams and fish in coconut curry broth with banana. I do not like curry but the shellfish stew with curry broth was amazing! I loved all the mussels, fish and clams! I would prefer to have dinner here, only because they have better menu choices like the rabbit, Ling Cod, and Lamb Sirloin. Other than that, great customer service, and love the ambiance! Very cool wall paper, too. The lady that served our food also called a taxi for us.

They wrecked it! I used to LOVE Grub and went often for years. I took friends, my boyfriend, my mom. It was so exciting to read the chalkboard when you got in to see what the specials were! Always a vegetarian, a vegan, usually lamb, beef, pork, two kinds of seafood, but oddly never chicken. There was always a special vegan dessert. The pear tart was to die for — and large enough to share. The Tom Collins — delish! And then there was the table d’hotel — an appy, entrée and dessert all freshly made, amazing at a very fair price. Then came the fire. It took them foreever it seems to rebuild. Not sure why, but they seem to have had too much time on their hands and thought up ways to wreck the place. They now have an «organic» farm where they source their ingredients. That’s fine, but then they got ride of every single thing that made the place awesome. The chalkbord — gone and replaced with a «fresh sheet» which always seems to be the same. No matter what was on the chalkboard I always found something that excited me. I’ve now been back 4 times and each time have just settled for something that I really didn’t want. The Tom Collins is no more. The pear tart — eliminated for some random«strudel of the day». And of course increased prices and no more table d’hotel. Last time we went my friend had the WORST fish I have ever smelled in my life — it smelled almost rotten and it was stuffed with something and was ice cold in the middle while the veggies were basically raw and the pasta was totally chewy. Yuk I had to send it back for her. the desserts did not impress, nor did the bill. Never again

The atmosphere is great here. It’s a Smallish dining area with fabulous colorful artwork on one wall. The cocktails are good here as are the plates. I had the scallops dish and it was very satisfying. A fair size group went, and we all tried something different. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their respective dishes. I’ll be returning.

I used to love this place, so much, that I had sent a few emails to them inquiring about their re-open date during renovation. Finally went back for the first time for my birthday. I had such great experience here before needless to say I was expecting a lot. My plate, which was a chard, even though a tad salty, was actually really tasty. I tried my friends’ food. The Gruyre/mushroom pie was amazing. The beef and the octopus were not good(too salty). But the thing that disappointed me a lot was dessert. They were really not good, like worse than something you would get from Safeway. Service was meh. I miss the old Grub! :.(Devastated and will not return.

What a wonderful find! I came here on my own for dinner and it was delightful. The restaurant is a small intimate space where friends gather or date night with your lovie. The hosts were knowledgeable and friendly and the atmosphere warm and invitin and the food delicious. If I’m ever in Vancouver again, which I hope is soon. I’ll come back again for sure.

I was excited to see Grub had re-opened since it burnt down as it used to be one of my fav places. Unfortunately the it’s just not the same food wise anymore, food was alright but nothing special. This wasn’t just me, I was with a group of 6 die hard grub fans who all said meh. Hopefully it was an off night for them bit I’m not planning to return anytime soon.

I saw this reviewed on the front page of Unilocal on July 27, 2015 and book marked it for future reference. I had 90 minutes to kill before heading to the Foo Fighters show and wanted a decent place to chill and work on the foot notes of my review. They do have wifi with a complicated password. Honestly this is the kind of place that is meant for chilling on a nice dinner or lunch date with good company. I was literally the only person in the eatery, therefore, decided to work since there was nobody around me aside from the staff to strike a conversation with. The music in the background was nice and relaxing. Mixture of Rod Stewart and Johnny Cash. The place is small with tasteful wooden interior. On the wall is a pirate cartoon collage that looks like something off the Yellow Submarine movie. The place is very long and narrow. It was an awesome and sunny day, therefore, the people watching on Main Street was fun. The waitress was super friendly. Meal came to the table in 10 minutes and was amazingly flavourful. I had the steak sandwich on gluten free bread. Steak was nicely prepared. Unlike traditional baguette bread this was a bit crumbly being that it is gluten free. I can see how this would be annoying. Perhaps if they changed to a potato based bread it would hold the fillings better. Now I am ready for the mosh pit.

Finally got around to trying the reopened Grub. The food was even better than I remember. My 7-spice rub flank steak was outstanding and my wife loved her arctic char. I commented that the side veggies tasted like they were fresh from the garden, and I learned afterwards that they do indeed source most of their produce from their own farm in Langley. The heated backyard patio is cozy and intimate, the perfect thing for a warm autumn evening. Service is attentive and knowledgeable.

Oh Grub, I was so sad the day you burned down, and then when the renovations seemed to go on forever I began to fear you would never re-open, but you did, and we made reservations for the second weekend you were open and were delighted with what we found. There’s not much point in describing the menu specifics because it’s different nearly every time you go, but the spirit of the menu is to provide an option for each of beef, pork, chicken, fish, lamb, vegetarian, or similar. The menu is driven by what’s available on their own farm and is always varied and thoughtful. There are no gimmicks to their food, no particular style of cooking, and this is actually refreshing where it seems every restaurant has some gimmick or odd theme to it. Grub is just good food cooked simply, honestly, competently, and deliciously. I had a pork dish, my partner had lamb, I tasted hers, she tasted mine, we agreed they were each equally good. The service was amazing, the servers knowledgeable about the menu and eager to tell you about the food. It came quickly, the wine choices were decent and affordable by the bottle, the space was great, there’s really nothing I’d change. While not cheap, it wasn’t particularly expensive either. Considering how much many restaurants charge for less satisfying meals Grub is a pretty good deal.

Really great spot on Main– nice people, amazing salads and a great chocolate vegan dessert. Sweet patio in the back and the strangest wallpaper that grows on you every time you look at it !!

So disappointed! Grub used to be my favorite restaurant in the city. Last night we were so excited to finally get back there after they reopened. The food has taken a turn. Every meal I had there(and we used to go a lot) always blew my mind. Me and my friends all thought our food last night was just… okay and to the point of kinda bland. Maybe they’re just trying to get into the groove again. Whatever they’ve done, Grub please go back to how you were before!

After being closed for a year after a fire, the newly reopened GRUB is more innovative and more fun. The backyard patio dining is a lovely outdoor oasis to be found among Main Street restaurants. Every dish is well thought out and beautifully presented. We love the salmon gravlox, perfectly cooked beef flank, unique vegan squash schnitzel, and the beautiful semifreddo with pink blueberries. Their new wallpaper, apparently ordered from Norway are so colorful, giving a inviting cozy vibe. Our waitress was very friendly. This is a great place for any occasion to have an eclectic northwest dining in a modern Scandinavian décor.

I swear the concept behind Grub was to fill the need to serve food to meet the most dietary restrictions. Everything I have ordered here has been simple but tasty. They also make great cocktails. So next time you are planning to go out for a nice dinner with a vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, and a carnivore just make a reservation here.

This is my 500the review. I didn’t know I eat out so much and have so many reviews until I start to write this one. I’m not gonna write a detail review for Grub as I didn’t have a good comment on them. My gal friend chose Grub for her b’day dinner coz she found the reviews were pretty high rated. When we walked in, we found the restaurant has no fancy interior and the tables were too cozy. We both had the 3-course table d’hote and didn’t enjoy the food at all. Antipasti — It didn’t look good on presentation and just like buffet dish. Cured meats, olives, peperoncini, anchovies, artichoke heart and etc was dry and tasteless, Tomato fennel cream soup — It’s creamy, rich and hot, but, didn’t taste fresh and good. Rack of lamb — Personally I didn’t like salad dressing on lamb and it’s taste quite gamey. Halibut — a bit overcooked and risotto was too cheesy… Lemon tart — It didn’t taste refresh or sour. Chestnut chocolate tart(gluten free) — I love dessert but not sugar sweet. I only could taste sugar not chocolate. I just had 2 bites and left the rest on the plate. I was so disappointed as we’re celebrating b’day dinner. Well. May be this is a good little place for casual dinner or have a bite when don’t feel like to cook at home. But not to expect delicious dish for $ 35(3-course meal).
