I have to admit that I love certain Lush products, they just seem to agree with my skin, and the bath bombs are super fun! But why do the shops have to be an assault on your nose even just walking by? Maybe I’m oversensitive to the smell? Seriously, you can smell it a block away and it’s such a cloying smell. We have bylaws against noise pollution, how about smell pollution? Granted it’s not as bad as say, a chicken farm, but people have allergies to these types of scents.

I went to the re-​opening of the LUSH West 4^th Kitsilano location yesterday and I have to say that I had a really great experience! It had been a while since I had been to this location. Even though the store was crowded, I was greeted immediately and warmly. I liked the way that the store has been renovated. The greeter pointed out all the new touches of the renovation to me and I was impressed. I didn’t have anything in mind to buy when I entered and yet I left with a bag full of products thanks to suggestions made by Gina. She was the perfect sales associate-​engaging, enthusiastic, very well informed of all the products and made me feel as if I was the only customer in the store! In particular, I learned of massage bars and a moisturizer that I wasn’t aware of. I walked out of the store with a big smile on my face. I would definitely recommend anybody to visit this store and ask for Gina!

I went in looking for a couple things, I was immediately helped by a really kind employee (I didn’t catch her name) but she sat down with me and gave me a demo of the Herbalism wash and helped me choose between my regular Love Lettuce Mask and the Magnaminty Mask — I ended up going with the Magnaminty and I love it! My skin feels amazing. The shop was tidy and well stocked and the employees were really friendly and helpful. :)

I’ve been to this location a few times, however, not as much as the Metrotown branch which is closer to me. I love their product line, however, I am finding that the customer service, location dependent, to be less than desired. I know that it is a retail store and that retail hell can take a toll on a person, however, there is no passion in the products. I remember when Lush first started how the people working at the locations believed and loved the product (s). I asked a few simple questions about a certain product ’cause I have very sensitive skin. The lady working there acted like she didn’t know or didn’t care. Not sure if it was the location, lack of training or the demographic of the location. I am giving it 2 stars ’cause I love the product line but the customer service is just terrible. Even worse during Christmas time. The smell does get overwhelming ’cause of everything in the shop, however, I promise that the individual items themselves smell good. They are also very stingy on samples. I spent $ 100 last Christmas for 4 of my friends last year and I requested a small sample of their facial cream and explained my personal skin sensitivities and I was told that they do not give out samples which is a lie since they gave a bunch to a few people ahead of me.

Solid 3.5 stars, nice to support local business. One of the smaller Lush’s I’ve been to.
Kicking around tires on this clay mask; nice fella helped me out, and patient; didn’t upsell me as the product I wanted was out of stock. Good service.

Spent $ 80 on the weekend and did not receive a single sample, unlike other times I’ve spent less there. Pout.

Thank you, Nicola for your friendly service and advice yesterday for picking up henna product and treatment. My mom said you made her feel all happy and cheerful by just talking and smiling at her-​although she had no idea what you were talking about as my mom does not speak any English :)
The Root treatment is amazing!

I have been the recipient of many Lush products, products that I have quite enjoyed. The Lush bath bombs, cuticle cream, and solid shampoo I tried were of good quality, were fresh, were handmade and were not tested on animals. That is all a good thing.
I just wish I were able to spend more than 5 minutes in this store before the overwhelming discordant smells from all of their products makes me want to woof my cookies. The truth is, I don’t even need to be in the store, I can be a block away when I start to smell the place. I pity those with chemical sensitivities. I am not sure why Lush smells so much worse than other stores which sell similar products, but it does.
I will shop there more often when they reek less. 2.5 stars

Once you get past the overwhelming borderline air pollution cacophony of smells and actually enter the store… it’s quite delightful. That crazy cloud is not how the products smell on your body or in your home. I promise.
They have lots of vegan products, they don’t test on animals, have a lot of natural ingredients aaand minimal preservatives. I like that.
The hard shampoo is great for travelling (no risk of spillage) and the tins make transport easy. I am a huge fan of the Karma shampoo and the body lotion… smells soooo good. R&B is wonderful, the charity pot lotion smells great AND goes to a good cause… don’t even get me started on the bath bombs.
The customer service is always friendly and helpful (sometimes overly helpful) Sometimes a girl just wants to smell all the things and not buy all the things. I do find some products a bit pricey, but the quality is great.

For someone who is a beauty and bath fiend like I am, this company is our sweet spot.
All natural and against testing on animals, this company is doing it all right.

I’m a LUSH junkie. Seriously. I have about two drawers overflowing with unused LUSH items. With all of their products, there is an expiry date as this company is environmentally friendly and doesn’t use many preservatives which is both a good and bad thing. The staff at this location are generally very friendly! Luke is the guy that usually helps me out (I go there so much the staff always recognize me!) and they also know a lot about the ingredients in each product and what they do. I especially love the Cosmetic Warrior Face Mask to make my skin glow after a draining day! It’s good for the most dry/​sensitive skin (which I have). For the same price you could make your own but this gives you the same number of uses and I think this works better! If certain items are already discontinued, this location usually has them even a few months later! Just a correction, LUSH is not a company based in Vancouver, the first store was in the UK (I believe).

Oprah loves Lush, so I love it, too. Is that bad? I think the woman has good taste, so when she recommends a product I usually give it a whirl myself — so long as it’s under $ 10. I caught an episode a while back where she recommended some beauty products from Lush and, after testing them on my own skin, I agree the company makes some pretty good ish.
There are locations all over Vancouver (I believe the company is locally based, no?), and you can always tell when there’s a Lush nearby because of the smell wafting out the front door. Actually, the odour the stores emit is the reason I can only award four stars in this review — it’s a bit overwhelming and overpowering for me and I think I’d be prone to some major headaches if I had to work there or lingered too long inside.
Still, interesting to see the products displayed like blocks of cheese and dairy case items. Good to go to if you’ve never been before or you’re an Oprah worshipper like me.
