Came in for breakfast after staying in the hotel. Had 2 kids with me. The waitress was irritated right off the bat with us having the nerve to show up for a late breakfast, even with shy, quiet children. My food was just all right. Small portions and high pricing for it. The kids were fine. The waitress made it clear to us that she wanted us gone when it was 11:45, stating that she had to set up for lunch. What a way to treat your hotel guests who are on holiday. The Manhattan is decorated like a hotel restaurant from the 80’s. They serve breakfast and lunch only. I came in for lunch. It’s a nice space and neat for a hotel. The free Lobby Wi-Fi doesn’t seem to reach up here. Ordered the Butter Chicken Curry(?). It was tasty. It seemed rather slow to come out since it was just me there for a moment. Formal and decent service.

I went for lunch with a group today, and overall, a very disappointing experience. The décor and ambience are nice, but the service and food were a disappointment. Half our group was served and finished dining, while the rest waited an hour to receive our meals. A few of us tried the hamburger — mushy meat, and overall disappointing, with what appeared to be grocery store bought frozen fries, topped off with a dried and withered pickle. All in all, not an experience I plan to repeat.

Me and my newspaper sitting there looking out over Hastings. Was great! Bit of a sucker for white cloth napkins and the anonymity of hotel breakfasts. Ordered the Manhattan’s Classic Benedict — the eggs ran with perfection and the potatoes were nice, crisp and flavourful but I sure didn’t like the mealy tomatoe slice hidden between the egg and spinach. The service was formal, efficient and just friendly enough.
