I went for dinner and had a great time. The food is definitely more expensive than the take out sushi or food court sushi places, but the portions are surprisingly big. So overall the price was good. Service was very nice. The staff were so sweet and gave us two pieces of fancy looking tuna sushi to try on the house, which was absolutely delicious. The décor is also bright and clean and warm. I had the chicken cutlet and I will definitely go again.

It’s a very nice place. Food quality is average, and the service is very good. It’s also not too expensive. There is no better option in the UBC village if you like to easily take a seat and talk to your somebody while eating.

Could be a lot better. Overpriced sushi that is just mediocre. Service is extremely slow. They bank on the fact there are not many sit down places at UBC so ppl will still come. Need to bring the prices down and get better service.

This is my go to place on campus for sushi! The staff here are so friendly, and will always offer you a cup of tea, even if you are just ordering take-out. They have a discount if you pay cash as well which is great for students looking to save some money. I have honestly never been disappointed with my food here, and the quality is great for how inexpensive it is. If you are looking for a really authentic sushi experience, this probably isn’t for you. But, if you are looking for a quick meal, this is your place!

Food: 2⁄5 Service: 1⁄5 Ambiance: 3⁄5 Value: 2⁄5 Sushi’s cheap quality, and the cooked food is mediocre at best. Waiters can take a while to get the attention of, but are friendly enough to adhere to whatever your needs are. Place looks like a generic Asian restaurant. Price wise, look to pay decent sushi price, for cheap sushi. That being said, you’re paying for the location of the place, as it’s the only ‘sit down’ sushi place on campus.

Food was not good. Service was not good. My husband had a stomach ache after eating here. I ordered a bento box. The sushi was gross, the tempura was soggy, but the teriyaki was ok. My toddler liked the orange slices so I asked for one extra slice. I was given a bowl of much more than that and charged $ 5. Would never go back. I would rather eat at McDonald;s.

I have mixed feelings about this place… while the staff can be borderline rude, and the place can be really crazy in rush hours(there is usually a line up at lunch), the food is not bad and prices are reasonable for a sit down restaurant on campus. The atmosphere can vary from the regular tables and chairs at the main area to the little Japanese-style booths with rice paper sliding door, which is nice. No, the staff is not Japanese! What would you make it think that would be the case? They are just«One more Sushi» place on campus, anyway. Yes, I would go back and even recommend this place if you are looking for a sit down restaurant on campus. But would not go out of my way to just come here.

We go to One More Sushi once in a while, because it is quite close to our workplace(UBC). If we were bored with food at the SUB, we treated ourselves with a sushi there. We went even for a dinner a couple of times. It is reasonably priced and the service is usually quite quick. The regular bento boxes are nice, but nothing extra. Recently I had a couple of dissatisfying experiences with the food there. The fried seafood garlic udon and the gyoza left me with a strong and unpleasant aftertaste. The salmon teriyaki in the bento box was not fresh, but rather cold and dry. Now I have a feeling that I don’t want to visit One More Sushi that much any more.

As they are the only true sit-down sushi restaurant on campus, I end up here pretty often. I don’t really know why. The food isn’t great, and they are well overpriced for what they deliver. Soggy tempura, luke warm miso soup, small portions of sashimi, dry rice, and it’s difficult to get a server’s attention. Just to name a few. I should learn from my mistakes and head off campus for my sit-down sushi needs.

There are cheaper and arguably much tastier sushi joints on UBC’s campus, so I would avoid this one. The Nigiri portions were very small(I’ve had more at all-you-can-eat places) and not very fresh. The BC roll and the negitoro roll were both so mediocre. Plus, it seems like a really busy joint, so I’d imagine the waits can be quite lengthy. It’s just not worth it!

Hands down best sushi on campus. I love how many vegetarian options they have(that spicy sauce is addictive!), and how reasonable their prices are. The servers are also very informed(I have food allergies) and they have all been very helpful and knowledgeable about the ingredients in all the sauces, etc…

Could be a lot better. Sushi places on campus benefit from the lack of the competition. One More Sushi is a prime example. This is a very typical sushi joint, but remains incredibly busy during the lunch rush. Be careful when you are eating the sushi dons(rice bowls) though. My best friend found a piece of wire in his rice. A strand of hair, I can understand … but wire? Gross.

I came here for a group lunch with 20 fellow graduate students. We chose this place because they take reservations and their prices are really reasonable. One More Sushi is located on the upper level of UBC Village. Once you enter, you have to go down a long hallway to get to the actual restaurant. One More Sushi has plenty of seating if you want to have a meal on campus without dealing with the huge line ups in SUB. They also have a large menu, containing everything from teriyaki rice bowls, bento boxes, sushi rolls, and sashimi. It’s a perk to be able to get such a wide variety of Japanese food in one place on campus. When we got there, we were given large teapots and plenty of time to order our food. One server came around and took all of our orders. One More Sushi did really well at remembering which table ordered which food, but all of the food came out sporadically. Some people got bento boxes right away, while others had to wait half an hour. I know it’s preposterous to assume that all of the food would come out at the same time, but I felt awful for my friends who had to wait while everyone else was eating their lunch. Also, it took way too much effort to get a server’s attention so we could get some water at the table after we ran out of tea. As for the food, the reviews are mixed. I ordered a miso soup and the dynamite sushi combo. The miso soup was okay, a bit bland compared to other restaurants, but it was nice and hot. The sashimi in my sushi combo was alright, it wasn’t slimy or bad, but it wasn’t memorable either. The sushi in the combo was pretty good, no complaints there. My friend ordered some california rolls and was really disappointed. She said that it tasted like the rolls were pre-made and refrigerated. Other friends were pretty happy with their teriyaki rice bowls and bento boxes, though agreed that the teriyaki dishes could have used more sauce. One great thing they have here is ice cream. You can get one, two, or three scoops of mango, green tea, black bean, or coconut ice cream. The ice cream is delicious, and I recommend having a scoop after your meal. Even though we had already received our bill, the servers let us order a lot of ice cream scoops and just added it on, which was great. One More Sushi isn’t the best sushi I’ve had, but it’s far from the worst. It does have a nice atmosphere for lunch, and I really enjoyed the ice cream. I imagine it would be better if you weren’t in a huge group, which is why I’m giving this place three stars instead of two. I’d go here instead of other sushi restaurants on campus, but I wouldn’t travel from West Point Grey or Kitsilano to go here.

OMS deserves its rating. It is definitely better than Mio Japan(which is the«Japanese» restaurant downstairs), and the food just has more flavor and authenticity to it. Unfortunately there was nothing particularly interesting about the service; it’s pretty much just a typical efficient eatery. The cost of the sushi is not justified by its quite average value, and the prices for all their meals are moderately more expensive than the eateries downstairs. Had the prices been equal this would have been a solid 4/5, but as it stands, you really get what you pay for here and nothing more.

Best sushi place near campus, and the best sitdown restaurant on campus. What I usually get: Bento Box D with Cod. Their sashimi is great, the cod is tastey, and the miniature salad it comes with is the best bento box salad I’ve ever had. Other standbyes: Any of their ngiri(Saba is good here) or any of their Maki rolls. Atmosphere: Big spacious area with some large group sized tables. Fun traditional looking Japanese artwork on the walls. This place gets 4 stars because: As UBC’s best sitdown restaurant it’s a surprisingly good deal. They’re fast and polite and the food is good. Pretty hard to find a better miso soup or maki roll anywhere near this price.

Yes please! I always get delivery from here. They deliver from 5−9pm (within 3 k with a minimum of $ 15.) A couple of the things I really like are the spicy agedashi tofu, the seafood ramen and the vegetable maki. I’ve had some really awesome fish and some really mediocre fish. It’s reasonably priced, especially the bento boxes, they deliver, and I really have had some surprisingly delicious sashimi here.

If you’re into the classic California rolls, you might want to think twice about ordering it here. They’re almost like pure rice rolls with some roasted sesame seeds on the outer layer. A proper California roll should have crab meat or imitation crab meat and avocado for the inner layer, but my Califorina roll had 95% rice and not enough crab meat. It tasted really bland, so I had to use a lot of soy sauce to finish it up. The rice was not sushi grade and the rolls kept falling apart. On another note, my server refilled my cup with green tea many times.

ERGH. I came over this place with a friend of mine. She recommended this place because it’s close to UBC… Anyway the place is on the 2nd floor of the University Village apartment thingy. The place is nothing special; just a typical sushi joint. I ordered the roll combo. It came with… urgh my disease is coming again, I forgot haha. Well I ate here a month ago or so anyway. But the rolls doesn’t taste fresh, and the portion is as small as your/your boyfriend’s genitalia. Now THAT’S small. *Ahem* anyway, back to the topic: the service was really just adequate. Price was… alright I guess. My combo costs $ 10, but the portion was quite small. Really not worth it I think. Don’t come to this place unless you wanna waste some energy by going up the stairs and wasting your money on some disgusting sushi.
