Noodle box you were my favourite hangover food! Chilli plum has been my go to for ages until I ordered it the other day and was entirely disappointed! I know you took it off of your menu but usually it’s still made right. My box was not spicy like I asked and it was completely dry! When I order chilli plum I expect it swimming in sauce. I would think it was just a chance mix up but my friend ordered it from another location and also got the same dry unappealing mix. We need some consistency! I can’t loose my favourite chilli plum!

NOT impressed, would NOT go back. I can count on one hand the foods I dislike, and not one of them is an Asian food. I enjoy fusion food, and noodle dishes are my favorite, but this was a big disappointment. I got mild/medium chow mein(gluten free), and my mother got the spicy noodle bowl. My noodles were pale white and sauceless. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had boiled and then immediately served; they had as little flavor as they did pigment. I’m not sure how someone could be fine charging $ 10 for a bowl of plain noodles. I had to split my mother’s order with her, and that was also very weak in flavor. The only reason I’m giving a star is for the good customer service; the chef was welcoming and held a nice conversation with us as we were preparing to leave. Spend your money on one of the actual Asian restaurants in Chinatown, you’ll get some kind of flavor with your meal.

Just fine for a quick dinner. Interesting menu, cooked to order, and I enjoyed what I’ve ordered here. There’s some inconsistency, as travel companions haven’t always been thrilled. But I’ll be back.

Cuisine is Southeast Asia flavors. Ordered the pad thai, Penang curry, and teriyaki. Portions were large but I found the flavors to be a bit bland. Service was ok and you bus your own table.

I love the tom yum kung here! Seems like the only thing i would order. Very flavoursome but have to watch for the spice level. The malay fried rice didnt taste like one at all. Overall, not bad.

Wow. Only been here once, but I had the Spicy Peanut Bowl with Chicken. They have five spice levels, and being fairly hard-core in the pepper league, I requested the five-star level. Watched the very skillful chef as he put one, two, three scoops of tiny sliced red peppers into the wok. Wound up with the hottest non-special order dish I have had since the Atomic Wings at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York in the mid 1980’s. Delicious, fiendishly hot, only was able to finish half. Next time: the four-star heat please.

Welcome to the Victoria’s version of Nova Scotia’s «Wok Box», make sense? The prices aren’t half bad considering how huge the serving sizes are. I met my friend there during her lunch break — she said whatever we order we’ll have lots of left-overs. I was out shopping and certainly didn’t want to carry left-over food around with me. She suggested splitting a dish — worked for me! When paying, we told the cashier we would be splitting it — she told the prep people and they gave us our own servings, so we didn’t have to eat out of the same dish. Awesome! I didn’t expect that. That being said, I think they should consider offering smaller lunch-size dishes. We had the spicy peanut noodle box with chicken. It was spicy… I guess, but only moderately spicy. However, I think you can pick your level of spicy-ness. I liked this better than Wok Box. I felt the ingredients were less processed.

Me thinks not again. So after several people came and spoke highly about this place I had walked by this place on many occasion and never tried it. Being Asian, eating unauthentic Asian food is not really my bag. But my friends wanted to go so i agreed. that was a waste of 30 bucks. Not that you need an Asian to make good Asian food but c’mon it at least get trained by an asian to make Asian inspired flavours. I order the noodles of the day. Pork and Shrimp with broad noodles. Now $ 14 buck = hand thrown noodles and big shrimp… at least that what i was expecting but no such luck. more on this in a minute. the other dish i order was Spicy chicken with thin noodles. Key word is spicy. This was for my friend and while everyone has different degrees of spice tolerance. this was meant to have flavour and wetness. the bowl of noodle contain NO chicken. Screwup #1, it had no sauce to speak of…#2 and was not in the least spicy #3…so back it went. the added the blanched chicken to the top of the noodles and didn’t not refire it.(uggg) Cook/kitchen etiquette people. so while my friend was waiting and grumbling on here mistakes i was empathetic to her plight. until i got mine. Remember it was PORKANDSHRIMP in broad noodle. It looked pretty good but i saw that it was not hand made noodles but regular commercial grade noodles. So its been refrigerated for a bit and then hopefully washed a bit to soften. NOPE… upon a dig. noticed no shrimp. three… one, two three pieces of BBQ pork. For 14 bucks this would not do. I was sitting across for the counter and kitchen so handing it back tot the staff was simple as pie. Would have been happier if i just some pie… anyway…they did the right thing and re-fired the entire dish which begrudgingly the return to me. To make a point there was 5 pieces of shrimp. b grade frozen style sharp and and the same 3 pieces of pork. so for 14 dollars a pop… i ate the whole thing and and will not recommend this place to friends but rich white folks who i don’t like very much. I mean i like white folks… I will just recommend to people i pretend to like :). REAL Chinese foodies will not enjoy this place at all. The only thing i enjoyed in this place was the art they displayed for sale. who ever the current artist was was really nice. As you can see i am not the best at writing in english.

I love noodle box, but the quality really changes depending on the cook.

I liked this place… Even when it is not the best asian restaurant I have ever been, I have to say that is not bad… they offer asian food from different countries. That makes them to have a good variety. Of course they are not especialized. but they are not bad… Also the service was very friendly. and the dish is very big… I went there just, because I was around, and at 4pm almost all restaurants are closed. but I don’t regret going there… I think it was a good decision, much better than many unhealthy places where everything is fried…

Came off cruise ship and hit the gardens and then Noodle Box in Chinatown. quick, good, hot, and, as expected, in a box! We shared using our chopsticks then hopped back in the van before our ship sailed away! Neat photo opps on the main street, like the red school next door. Enjoyed!

The Noodle Box has now achieved an honoured spot on my «Will never eat here again» list. Their food is totally crappy now, and having to pay more for«half sauce» and then end the meal with food poisoning is not something I tend to want to pay for. How this chain has gone down hill over the past five years. It seems like restaurants in Victoria start out great and then they get popular, expand, hire inexperienced staff, and go downhill. Such is the case with the Noodle Box. You know when a restaurant opens a location in Langford(I’m looking at you My Little Thai Place) that their food is just not worth your money any more. Save your money and go to Baan Thai instead. Avoid avoid avoid… well unless you like a nice box of greasy noodles served with a bout of salmonella.

The Noodle Box most certainly has above-average Thai take-out. But what it has in flavour, it makes up for in lack of service or seating. Although I realize this is basically a take-out place, over time, the customers have begun using it as more of a hang out. And I think it’s time that the owners catered the restaurant to what the customers actually want(isn’t that the aim of a successful business model anyways?). Since they tend to take longer than most take-out places(between 15 – 20 minutes), it only makes sense that by the time the food is ready, most of the customers are fairly hungry and want to eat in. I think my favourite aspect of the Noodle Box is their collection of beers. Although not large, it is still a wider collection than carried by most Asian restuarants. And I love me a good beer with that Asian spiciness.

This place is a neat concept of asian fusion food. Very creative menu that caters to most diets and can be modified too. A bit over priced for what you get but I keep coming back for more!

Always tasty, but a bit pricey, and they’re not always consistent with their spice levels — one time my medium was definitely hot. Their menu has good variety. Portions are quite substantial. My biggest complaint is that most dishes need at least one modification to make them vegan(hold the fish sauce, sub rice noodles for the egg noodles), and they charge extra for each modification. I understand the desire to streamline the production process, but would it really be that hard to offer a vegan option for no extra charge?

It’s not that the noodle box isn’t delicious(it is), but that they always mess up at least one order in my party. And this isn’t unique to one location or the other — it’s systemic. They always fix it, but by the time this happens, my lunch break is over and I can’t enjoy my food. I’d also prefer smaller portions, more room to sit, and lower prices. I don’t always have someone to share lunch with, but would enjoy something with southeast asian fusion flavors. And my wife thinks they use too much cilantro(she isn’t a fan).

All of my friends love the Noodle Box. Personally, I don’t know what they’re raving about. The interior is very cute, but it’s quite small– you shouldn’t expect to get any seats unless you show up early. Since it’s very popular, expect to wait a while to order and for your order. The staff is friendly, and the classic«chinese takout» packaging is great. However, the most important feature of a restaurant– especially a restaurant that is more-or-less takeout– is the food, and the Noodle Box leaves me unimpressed here at every visit. Most of the food I’ve ordered here have been quite flavourless, which may be a reflection of how much of a pansy I am with spiciness: I always want things mild. The spiciness system is very precise, allowing you to get the food exactly as hot as you like it. Unfortunately, mild apparently means bland in many cases. I personally wouldn’t recommend it, but many of my friends do.

Sure it’s not consistent. Sure it’s not authentic. Wahh wahh! It’s great for quick takeout and great value compared to doing all the slicing and dicing at home. The Thai Syle chow mein is the most consistent thing on menu and is always very good. I have had hit or miss luck on specials. I like the spring rolls quite a bit too. I always come back at least monthly — it’s quick easy and good value.

Think Asian Fusion — heavy on the Fusion. I know people that love this place and others that loathe it. I am more luke warm about it. The spicy peanut noodle box with prawns is tasty. Not fantastic or note worthy — but tasty. The noodles seem to not always be cooked the same. This place doesnt have many seats and they typically are full. Its like a take out place that has a couple of seats. The hot tea was not good. This is truly one of the marks of a fusion place that is not Asian enough — and they are very close to the China Townesque area of Victoria so its a tough sell to have crappy hot Tea. All that being said — if it was lunch time and I walked by on the way to somewhere else — I would probably stop for a box. So, there it is — not recommended by edible. As dave M said — not great bang for your buck.
