Overpriced for most items. Very drafty. Communal seating inside the vitamin store removed and left with one table now. Not enough employees there either. Sandwiches made from same standard focaccia bleached beyond recognition. Decent sales however on big items in season — seafood for example. Desserts brought in from local café are past due date as I eat their regularly and can see it visibly. Bakery goods are extremely high in sodium which turned me off. Friendly staff in general. I had the displeasure of walking by an interview taking place near a freezer section — person must have been frozen by the end of the nearly 2 hour interview in the middle of the store! I had a big shopping day and so I had return to the same area and noticed that the HR lady was asking for a social insurance number from this poor youth! It was entertaining but very upsetting at the same time as I wanted to tell him to not give it to her because he was under no obligation to until he got hired.
I’m not in HR but I do know that is illegal according to Employment Standards Act until you hire the person. I guess it was being used before the interview for investigation and then used again to quiz the guy at the actual interview. The questions were methodical — every single job the poor individual had was being grilled dating back nearly 10 years! Hiring Practices very strange — mostly very young and from same ethnic background — HR person obviously does not understand the law and ethics! Funniest statement I heard was the guy telling her that his pre-​screen online test had questions from the 1900s like «doc your pay» at random times for unethical reasons (do they even do that anymore! ahaha!) or «getting fired» for basically anything they did which for the most part he stated was not even legal. It was hilarious to see someone tell a business off for a change. Seems like the pre-​historic age is not behind us at least for this supposed professional HR lady! We are in 2016! hellloooooo!

When this place opened it was great. And in many ways it still is but the bloom is falling off the rose so to speak.
The selection of products remains absolutely fantastic as do the prices… if you can find the prices. Too many products don’t have shelf labels or the labels are in the wrong place.
For the first many months, every staff member in every department was swiftly attentive to customer service. An added delight was that they were all clearly having fun a work!
Sadly the above seems to be changing. Fresh Street seems to have a lot of new staff, some of whom don’t seem to know what they’re doing and appear a bit stressed.
Apart from the shelf labeling issue, the whole store is beautifully merchandised with an enormous selection of gourmet products.
I know they’ll push things back up a notch!
What a marvellous store compared to a dirty Safeway with dowdy unhappy staff dressed in unkempt dirty looking brown uniforms.
Don’t let my review prevent you from shopping at Fresh Street. It’s a terrific Store, currently having late teething problems.

FRESH STREET MARKET WHAT A WONDERFUL PLACE! I went in there the other day as I’m organizing a baby shower and the staff was phenomenal! The floral department was my first stop and Cort was very helpful he helped me pick my flowers gave me ribbon samples and ideas they were on point! The bakery department, was also very attentive Nico and his pastry chef Sylvia were very helpful and gave me a variety of recommendations and were very accommodating with my requests and made sure they would make my cupcakes happen. My next stop was the meat department what a beautiful case for their meat! And they were very organized and also helpful I ordered some sliders and they made sure I remembered my buns! Also the deli department was also great to me Greg was very helpful and excited he gave me many suggestions and had such a positive attitude and also made sure all my requests were met! The store manager Justin was also outstanding I needed mason jars for centre pieces and he brought me a variety of samples and gave me suggestions on what would look great and he definitely knew what he was talking about! He then went to get all the mason jars I needed and wanted to purchase what a great help! He was very energetic and accommodating! My last stop was at the cashier her name was Kim and she has outstanding customer service very friendly and kind she was also a very good packer and a pleasure to talk to! This is the best grocery store I have ever been to they go above and beyond for the customer I truly felt like a VIP. What a great experience I will definitely be back to this place and I will recommend it to everyone!

best sandwiches in west vancouver and only $ 5.50,
full salad bar to put what ever you like, and meat combo, and the sandwich cards are good too.
Also really good specials on good meat and seafood, keep your eye on the flyer.
the fresh produce section is twice the size of the processed section, how it should be, service is a little slow due to all the retires that shop here.

A nice blend between the over the top everything of Whole Foods and an IGA. Great selection of produce, interesting meat selections, good variety of deli meats. Generally a good variety of other items as well. We frequently find ourselves choosing it over other alternatives as if late.

For an upscale lookalike, they’ve got some good deals here. But for the most part, prices seem to bethe same, judging from Breyer’s tub of ice cream for $ 8.
Bought Santa Cruz organic raspberry lemonade, 2 for $ 5, that’s a steal.

I am torn about this grocery store.
It’s very clean and they carry a great selection of seafood and organic vegetables. It’s never been too busy when I come here and there have not been long line ups. Sometimes they carry fruit I don’t usually see in other places.
The cashiers here though are very young. They are constantly chatting with one another and are not interested in the customers. For this reason I probably won’t be coming back.

STALE STREET MARKET would be a better name for this store! One item ibought was three months past its best buy date! Customer service is a bit on the unfriendly side too. and not always available. Too bad, so sad! Not my favorite store.

I really like this market in general. The layout is great, the selection is decent and the staff is friendly in every department except for the deli.
I have a serious beef with the deli. *grin* There’s one fellow who understands how to cut meat, lay, stagger, repeat and wrap it properly. He’s the only one. I wish I had his work schedule so I could only go when he works there.
The rest… wow! Here’s an exhibition of some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced, including lack of attention to detail and exceptionally poor listening skills. It’s not a busy counter either which doesn’t surprise me. I recently moved into the area and have been there 5 times.
My requests are simple. Please slice thin. I get 300g of meat in 6 – 8 slices!?! Are you serious? I don’t need to add a doorstep to my kitchen, just a thin layer of meat in my sandwich. I have no idea what the hiring policy is for this department, but clearly 90% of these kids have never been to a real deli in their lives.
Packaging cold cuts is a simple task: spread the sheet of brown paper, slice meat into other hand, lay flat, slice, lay flat staggered and repeat. Why staggered? So that you can easily peel the meat off when you’re making sandwiches early in the morning before going to work. What do I usually get? The whole thing piled on top of each other, pressed down so when I unwrap the package, there’s no way to peel off slice by slice, I have to tear and shred the meat off to make a sandwich which drives me nuts.
I want to take the manager and staff to a proper deli so that they can witness this simple process firsthand.
The next gripe I have is what happened to smiles in the deli? The butchers across the way are awesome. They will go out of their way to make sure you get exactly what you need and always do it with a smile no matter who is working.
Back in the deli twilight zone, I get full on «eff you» attitude. What gives? I’ve lived in London, Manhattan, Montréal, Toronto and San Francisco and I’ve never come across this kind of blasé attitude coupled with total ineptitude before. I don’t care if you’re grumpy, at least take pride in what you do. I’d fire almost everyone that I’ve encountered at the deli.
My suggestion is to get this sorted out soon. I don’t have the patience to tolerate this rubbish service. I will go to a proper deli like Bosa Market if this continues, even though I live in Caulfield. Yes, I will also pick up the rest of my shopping there and along Hastings which will likely save me a lot of money, cost me some extra time and be less convenient. I’ll benefit from better quality produce, expert warm service and most importantly: no more frustrating tearing away at a pile of deli meat to make my sandwiches before going to work meaning I get to start my day with a smile.

Love this place. I don’t live on the North Shore, but I will travel to come here.
Produce — fresh. Deli — fresh, and a wide selection of prepared food. Butcher’s station, seafood, etc. — fresh, lots of great marinated options to take home and take credit for. Extensive grocery selection, frozen foods. Basically a one-​stop-​shop. My only complaint is that there isn’t one in Vancouver.

@FreshStMarket has a good selection of #glutenfree items & it’s not over the moon expensive either. I felt as though I had shopping therapy for groceries, my visit was so satisfying. No crowd, great customer service and plenty of good food for my dollars. At the front there’s a prepared food section, good to know if you want to stop in for a bite and they’ve taken the time & effort to have on offer plenty of foods for people with ‘issues’ like myself. SO much great stuff. And the music was keeping me going too, well played Fresh St. well played.

A clean Trader Joes look alike — wholesome produce department, mouth watering display of fresh seafood, good shopping experience — totally perfect for the West Van crowd.

The staff at the meat, deli, and salad counters are helpful and friendly.
When I asked about one of the salads, and the staff member let me try a sample.
They also bag your items in paper bags rather then plastic :)

Nice, clean, new store. Reminded me of an Urban Fare in the layout and design. Not sure if they’re related. I found a frozen gluten free dairy free pizza so I was pretty pleased. The staff working in the deli and meat counter were friendly and cheerful and the stocking person we asked about gluten free hot dog buns was very helpful.
It’s not huge so there isn’t a massive amount of selection. They had what we needed but I expected to have more unique items since they seemed to present themselves as something special.

Come one, come all! To Fresh St. Market that is. Nestled between 16^th and 17^th St. in Ambleside, it’s the new kid on the block giving Whole Foods a run for their money. And I’m not just saying that cause I work there. Come see for yourself.
I can honestly say it’s Cartman’s worst nightmare. Fresh, organic produce that’s as locally sourced as possible at very reasonable prices. You’ll find a fabulous selection of truffled delights (truffled pecorino cream comes to mind), specialty jellies/​sauces and a fanatic selection of olive oil and balsamic vinegars. You’ll find ground bison, duck breasts and marinated steaks. There are gluten free muffins, breads, crackers and cereal. A shelf dedicated to various chia seeds, hemp seeds and kamut flakes. A wonderful pseudo-​fromagerie. A fantastic selection of Ocean-​wise seafood and the best mushroom caps in the lower mainland. Own your kitchen… like a boss. And for lazy days, you’ll find a nice selection of heat and serve delights: scotch pies, butter chicken, quiches, gorgonzola mac and cheese. There’s also a daily selection of fresh made soups (wild mushroom’s the best) and a rockin’ salad bar.
Get a dozen baked goodies and you always get the 13^th one free. Buy 7 made-​to-​order sandwiches (at $ 4.99) and you get the 8^th one free. There are complimentary umbrellas for customer use, car service and home delivery.
It’s actually a store concept that succeeds as a destination shop as well as an everyday, corner store in the neighbourhood. And that’s speakin’ as a customer.
Have I mentioned the New York cheesecake? It’s flown in, triple baked and comes with your choice of peach, blueberry or strawberry compote. Creamy, not too sweet and deliciously savoury. Go nuts. You deserve it.
