The pastries that we ate at Rollet Pradier were so fantastic that I felt the need to post a review, which is extremely rare for me, but the world needs to know about this place. We were lucky enough to stay across the street, so when we needed a quick bite to eat before departing Paris, we stopped into Rollet Pradier. We do not speak French, but the service here was very polite and helpful. We ordered a handful of different items, including quiche, pain au chocolate and others, but the highlight was the religeuse. If you don’t know what a religeuse is(like we didn’t), google it. It’s basically a small, cream filled and icing covered pastry on top of a larger cream filled and icing covered pastry. I believe they have different types of these at different times of the year. I honestly don’t know the flavor that we had, but it must’ve been some kind of almond/hazelnut. I can’t think of a better pastry that I’ve had in my entire life, to the point where I recently tried unsuccessfully to have more sent from Paris to the U.S. However, I did receive a personal phone call from a very nice gentleman at the company to discuss the situation, and he informed me that they will be opening a location in New York sometime around the end of 2016. It’s a lot easier for us to get to New York than Paris, and we can’t wait to try out the new location when it opens.

Rollet Pradier is a really cool bakery, a bit overpriced but not too much for the neighborhood, with excellent lunch options(sandwiches, salads, savory pies, hot dishes, etc.) Among my favorites, the green beans salad and the chocolate-passion fruit pie — my usual lunch when I’m around!

I like my breakfast light while in Europe so I pop into this bakery every morning to pick up orange juice and croissants. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Both the plain and chocolate croissants are excellent. The orange juice here is delicious and just the right serving size. I cant wait to try the macaroons later in the day.

Rollet Pradier was a random patisserie my friends and I stumbled upon after dinner one night. Any time we saw a new patisserie, we had no choice but to stop in and sample their goods. We went in near their closing time and who I can only assume was the owner was so gracious and nice to us. Above Rollet Pradier is an actual restaurant and although closed, he let my friends and I go up to eat our treats. We felt so classy at their super fancy tables upstairs. They had a good selection of macarons, other tasty desserts and some loaf items which I thought looked really pretty and cool, but I just couldn’t get myself to order one and try it. I tried a large sized chocolate macaron(for 3.95 Euros, the normal size macarons were 1.40 euros) — my treat of choice while in Paris. I found it to be fantastic! Just the right chew, crisp and softness to it. Loved the flavor as well! I also had a bite of my friend’s apple tart dessert and holy goodness! Now that was one phenomenal pastry. My friends said the chocolat éclair was also great. We didn’t have a bad item at Rollet Pradier and truly enjoyed their hospitality. I’m not lying when I say some of the best places are those not researched but that you just happen upon by chance.

Rollet Pradier taught me that I need to do my macaron research! How naïve of me to think I could just pop into any place, seduced by these colorful cookies, and expect the offerings to be up to snuff. Of the unimpressive macarons I sampled here, passionfruit was the best.
