Forget about calorie calculation, pay a bit more than average, then you get an amazing Chinese lunch in return. This tranquil place stands out from the wet market and grocery stories on the packed Wellington street. The lunch deal is from $ 70 to $ 100 per set. Soup or salad then one main. Conventional fried beef noodles, chicken rice, pork chop, or the meat lovers’ obsession. I went for the fried beef with Shanghainese noodles. Gravy but feels like heaven. I wonder what is the brand of their soy sauce. Just a bit sweeter than usual and just right. My friends’ chicken rice are all well-done. It feels like private kitchen! Presentable homemade dish for commercial purpose. The whole experience matches. Pretending you are hiding in their ancient door and chewing tasty fried noodles.

Phenomenal food, excellent service. If you have never had Chinese beef carpaccio, this is your spot. After sitting down for a meal to escape the madness of LKF, we were greeted by the owner — a sommelier by trade. Our waitress walked us through the menu, explaining the restaurant’s focus on ultra-high quality beef. We sampled the beef carpaccio, which was better than any I’ve had in the States or Europe. The steamed bamboo was also great, a salty-sweet mushroom texture served with a homemade mayo. Finally, the dumplings were delicious and filling. Although currently BYOB, I’m sure this place will explode when the wine list comes in, so grab a bottle and enjoy Ngau Saam Gun now!
