What a brilliant addition to O’Connell Street. Absolute chocoholics dream!!! Had a coffee which came with a shot of chocolate. The barista recommended putting the chocolate in the coffee which I did and OMG it was heavenly. Food wise I tried the buttons waffles. This came with caramel chocolate buttons, white chocolate buttons and a choice of cream or ice-cream. I got ice-cream with mine. The mix of the three together was AMAZING! They also do made by me which is an opportunity for you to make your own chocolate bar. They’re € 4.95 each and at the minute they’re 3 for 2. You can choose milk, white or dark chocolate and up to 3 toppings. There’s lots of choice(check their website for the menu!) which can be difficult but I gave it a good go :) Not giving it a five because they’re developing the rest of the building. This will include a tour and an opportunity to learn more about the history of chocolate. I think that’ll be fascinating! This place has been on my list for a couple of months and it was so worth the wait. Just won’t wait as long for the return visit. Awesome! You’ve just gotta try here.

Coco bo was incredible when it first opened! The best waffle I’d ever had. I’m not sure what changed over the past month but the waffles have become drier and less flavorful. Please go back to what you were doing in the beginning!

The lady serving us was rude and almost refused to replace our order. We tried to get our 2 orders of desserts to be replaced with a new one because of the sour taste of the whipped cream, which we thought was spoiled. However, the lady replied«Is the cream sour or just sour for your taste?». We just hoped that it must have been some kind of a routine question for customers who don’t like or have complaints about their desserts. When she finally agreed to replace our orders, she got one of them wrong so we complained. However, she insisted that my friend ordered for the both of us and just doubled my friend’s order, but I was clearly queuing separately in line with a different order than my friend’s. We returned to our table and a few minutes later she arrives and comments«Next time, communicate.» with a straight face while she serves us our desserts and then quickly leaves. As you would expect we were left speechless at the level of professionalism this lady had, especially as the manager or owner was present in the shop. This is clearly unacceptable especially as it is only a newly opened shop. As a result, we left the shop barely having finished what we ordered.

Coco bo is a new dessert/ice-cream spot that looks like it’s going to be much better than it is. They’re in a lovely big building on O’Connell Street but the closer you look the more it seems to be a little bit of a tourist trap. They have various displays and stands around the place for Lir and Guinness chocolates. At the back there seems to be a working chocolaterie where you can«Choose your chocolate, choose toppings, come back in 25 minutes» and they will make you you own bar of chocolate. I can’t comment on this as I didn’t try it, cool idea though! I decided to try one of their sundaes, which were 4.95. I chose the«Brownie Chunk» sundae which was really nothing impressive. It was soft serve vanilla ice-cream with chunks of brownie, fudge and caramel syrup in a plastic cup. The toppings tasted cheap and the ice cream was nothing special. It’s what you’d expect to get from a Supermacs or a McDonalds.
