I came here on Wednesday night and have very mixed feelings about the place. Let’s start with the pros. There’s less of them. — € 2 pints — Giant beer garden The cons [I’ll try not to rant too much. Try.]… Rude security staff! It was 8pm and as we attempted to enter the premises the security guys stopped us and asked«where are you coming from?». I had just come from Penneys and was not going to say that. I told him I was coming from town. He asked«where?». I repeated… «town»! Then he asked me for ID. I am 36. I moisturise every day and thankfully look younger but I don’t look under 18. He said it was for security purposes. So before I even entered Dicey’s I was irritated. It was € 5 entry and then € 2 per pint after that as mentioned in my pros. I felt like the only Irish person there. This place was full of all different nationalities but notably Brazilians and Spanish. My partner is Brazilian and that’s why I was here so I wasn’t surprised by this and this was a good thing as it created a very different atmosphere as people were dancing and they were not drunk yet. Irish people need to be drunk to dance! Whilst in the smoking area every time we tried to put our bags and jackets somewhere this extremely rude and tall Brazilian bouncer told us to pick up our bags. I challenged him on this on the 3rd time he said it to us and asked why, he said there’s a cloakroom. It was ridiculous. The ladies want to keep their bags to hand for a number of reasons. They were never in peoples paths, they were tucked behind things. So no one would be tripping up on them. What annoyed me more was that as I walked around other areas there were plenty of bags and jackets around the place. So I think this guy was just a bit of a prick. He also told us to move at one point because we were blocking peoples way. It was packed. EVERYONE was blocking peoples way. He was now just picking on us because I challenged him. Total prick. As the night went on I spotted more Irish guys and they were mostly rough skanger types and from what I heard from one group they were looking for some«Brazilian gee». This place is insanely cheap but it comes with a price. But if you are looking for some«Brazilian gee», € 2 pints, rude security staff or the novelty of being asked for ID in your mid thirties then I highly recommend it.

So, if you go to this club early you WILL be kicked out. We where kicked put for no reason except for being there to long and not buying enough drink for there quota. We asked for the bouncers ID but he ran inside before we got it! Also they have a neat trick(which I have caught them twice) at of pretending a toilet cubical is taken to pressure you into buying their fake perfume they sell in a toilet. Twice! They have € 2 pint but don’t expect to be treated as a human being !

Was recommended this place by a pal at work. He said the beer specials were unreal and boy was he right. 2EUROPINTS on the Thursday we went and the atmosphere was buzzing. They had a match on all the TVs, great music and a crowd between 18 – 25. Also found out they serve all bar food for 5 euro every night till 10. Well worth dropping in for some fun and laughs.

Do Not Go Here. The bouncers are Ultra Agressive. A group of us went on a Friday night. The bouncers hassled each of us at the door about our ID. One of our friends was not allowed in for not having his ID but as we were walking away to go somewhere else it kicked off as the one of the bouncers attacked our friend. The other bouncers joined in using excessive force, punching and forcing our friend to the ground. It was broken up by the police, if they didn’t break it up we all feared what might have happened as the bouncers were so aggressive. They completely over reacted to the situation in a way any normal person would not. What made it worse was one of the last bouncers grabbed, punched and chocked another friend of ours who got pushed by one of the first bouncers. It was totally uncalled for, overly aggressive and a disgrace. They went too far with our first friend over not showing ID but to attack and attempt to cut off the air supply of our second friend who had done nothing was a bigger disgrace. It was not the first time this has happened. I personally have seen male bouncers in this club push girls against walls intimidate and scream at the customers for no apparent reason. There are plenty of other clubs in Dublin to go to. Don’t waste your night being harassed by bullies.

Comparing Dicey’s Garden and Copper, I would prefer to come to Dicey’s Garden. Dicey’s definitely has better music selection than Copper. Dicey’s has multiple different levels. You can choose to stay inside and have a good dance, or you can go outside and have a great chat with your friends. Good thing is that they have heaters installed outside for cold weather. There is also downstair dance floor I believe, but I have never been to that part of Dicey’s yet. I would say my experience here was just okay.

We went to Dicey’s cause my good friend used to work there. It was loud and crowded and just BLAH. We had to pay to get in, with all the places to go in Dublin I would stick to the places that don’t charge. At the bar, my female friend and I kept getting hit on by these super sketchy dudes, so we pretended we were together just to get them to back down. They call it a «beer garden» but the only resemblances to one I saw was that they served beer and had some flower pots outside. I was not impressed by the place as a whole and would recommend avoiding it unless you have no plans to have any conversation or don’t need to enjoy yourself.

Excelentes… Dicey’s asegura mucha fiesta y diversión.

Here you can find cheap drinks, that’s all. It is always full of people with no space to sit or to speak with your friends. Sometimes the beer tasted not good but maybe this it is because of the price but I didn’t like a lot. Pros: cheap booze. Cons: crowded, bad beer, bad food…

So I have to review Diceys The main issue — The bouncers. I have had a number of altercations, you can’t stand there, that drink is being dangerously held, why are you doing this that and the other. I have told a number of them to go and @)&) themselves and they have said«out». I explained politely I am a former kick boxer and if I go, everybody with me goes too. Sometimes we have gone here just to see how quickly we can be bothered by bouncers! It’s also fun to wind them up by going in with any z lister friend or acquaintance you might have, name drop as you are being kicked out and you might be brought back in lol If you’re 18 – 23 and want to get pissed before Coppers, go for it. I’m older now and I like parts of the bar and outdoor garden, If you can find a quieter night and a good table, you’re flying for a short while, but remember to have a good disagreement with the bouncers before you go. I find if you compliment them on their luminous council jackets, they’ll be more infuriated. This is a then a good time to mention you know Pippa O’Connor«pips» It’s all about security guards in Diceys Hope the management read this and slap these silly men

Went clubbing here on a Thursday night. The music sucked around 10 a.m. but it slowly got slightly better around 11 a.m. Ladies, it’s a sausage-fest so expect annoying guys coming up to you to dance.

Uh man this place is just so annoying… Someone recently put it like this, their punter to bouncer ratio is like 3:1 or at least it feels that way! Harmless conversations with friends and you have bouncers properly leaning over you, I overheard a group being told to keep it down… Jesus, they were singing Happy Birthday to their mate! Cop on dudes, seriously! Was here after work on Friday, up stairs on the balcony and yep, even there this ugly bouncer nonsense continued… A group of us, we had handbags on the floor mostly tucked in under a table anyway, all told off and instructed to put bags on our laps ‘due to safety’ apparently… You charge me € 8.50 for a Gordon G&T and you want me to slum it with my large handbag on my lap so I can’t reach my overpriced gin nor can any of us relax and enjoy ourselves! As the night went on, we got some dancing going and Jesus, the swarm of bouncers that scare you down, just turns you off, God forbid people come here to actually have a good time. Seriously, might be a well known place but there are so many more awesome places to hangout and enjoy yourself only a stone throw away… My recommendation: Avoid!

My guilty pleasure — i must confess im a bit embarrassed to say but i always have good craic when i go here ! And not just because of the prices on the student night !! They have a very big beer garden which is really good especially when your friends don’t share your awful smoking habit(im smoker so i can nag about it hahaah). The music is usually pretty good and there is always a buzz in the place even on week nights. They do great drink promotions so its a good option if you’re a little short of cash. The downside is that it can get really crowded and the security always have problems containing the mob especially at the end of the night when you need to get your jacket

I have never felt so old in my whole life! It doesn’t matter that I am actually pretty old ;) the crowd was in between 12 and 15… that’s what they looked like anyway. I don’t know how most of them got away with ordering drinks?! You only need about a tenner to get completely hammered. Drinks are 2 euro?! This explains the young, student crowd. However, it doesn’t explain the rude staff. It was a hassle to get in, queueing, checking our bags(seriously, why would anyone bring in sneaky drinks if the drinks are actually cheaper to get inside???). Asking which party we were with. It felt like an interrogation. And it was only 6pm! Once we managed to get in(hallelujah) the music was so loud, it was impossible to have any normal conversation. I don’t think anyone(young or older) actually enjoys that at that time. We had our coats lying around the area that was reserved for us. At 7 a security guy came up to us ordering us to take them away immediately and put them in the cloakroom. He said it in such a manner I felt threatened. I came here because of a work thing… I even used to come here quite often not so long ago. But I rather pay triple price in a nice environment than to go through this torture again. Maybe that’s just my age speaking now though. Ugh!

I actually like Diceys, and I want to come back again, so bare that in mind. This gets 5 stars for venue, and 2 stars for staff. So 3.5 stars. But I’ve knocked off half a star because of the nonsense I’ve to endure every time I go here. Reassess your door men. They are disgruntled, and they behave like animals. They are driving away business, because of their own insecurities. While you’re at it — take a good look at the people behind the bar. One or two of the barmen are good, the rest are shitheads. The service can be non-existant at times Now moving on from my rant, the outdoor area is fantastic. It is literally one of the coolest places in Dublin to have a drink. They also have top notch deals during the week. I once bought 3 drinks and got charged 6 euro. that is unbelievable. I thought the bartender was charging me 16 euro, but no — it was 6. You won’t beat that price anywhere in Dublin. I really think that if I owned a club, I’d hire a «secret shopper» to report back on his experience dealing with my staff. You can have the coolest venue in the country, but if your staff suck, then so does my night.

Gah. Confession time, despite my student status I’ve only been here once. I brought some American friends when they were visiting; I had intended to give them the Coppers treatment but it was 2am and Coppers was still 15 euro on a Thursday… no thanks. Here was 5 euro in which obviously is much better. There weren’t any great drinks deals but I do remember having a couple of jagerbombs. The place is really quite cool, it doesn’t feel like somewhere in Dublin. It’s also cool, as someone said, that the dancing is in the smoking area, because that way you don’t have to be separated from your smoker friends(or take up smoking temporarily). That said, the crowd is young and messy and the music is GODawful. Most of my friends go here only on Sundays because of the 2 euro drinks, but I’ve kind of outgrown that phase of life so I won’t be rushing back.

I think you love or hate it here… theres no in the middle… Cons…(nightclub wise) WAYTOOVERPACKED… they let way too many people in… you cant breathe, dance or move… your queuing for god knows how long both to get in alone and for the bar and toilet. tacky tastless music… poor ish crowd… Pros.(nightclub and pub wise) extremely cheap drink… Its a late opening club… unreal smoking area(if you find room to chill out in it) … (lunch and food wise) CHEAPCHEAPCHEAP … TASTYTASTYTASTY… the lunch here has huge portions and costs next to nothing This was night time when i went. it could be different during the day !

When I first moved to Dublin, people used to come here on Tuesdays. Tuesdays at Dicey’s, they said. All shots and drinks are at 2−3euros. I hated it then, and it’s good to see I still hate it now. I guess you reach an age where you prefer to pay a premium on your drinks, pay a little bit more and have a much better environment. Two euro drinks are not worth everything this place stands for. Let’s see, the floor is ALWAYS sticky, always. The security guys yell at you for moving the chair from one side of the table to another. They also yelled at me for holding a drink on the dance floor, even though I was completely sober and had no risk of spilling. I stood 3 cm out of the dance floor and then it was fine? The place is always way too crowded. Way too drunk. Way too loud. I am all for partying but I am so over this place.

This is a review of Dicey’s lunchtime service, my previous review for the late bar still stands. Today we ventured away from our comfort zone of O’Brien’s Sandwich Bar and decided to throw caution to the wind… have lunch in Dicey’s. I had heard rumours that they have a kick ass salad bar. And do you know what, its true — they do have a kick ass salad bar. When you get to the carvery, keep walking through the door frame on the left and then hang another left. For 6.25EUR I went for a piece of yummy cold salmon and filled the rest of the plate with the different salads they had on offer. They have coleslaw, potato salad, egg salad, Waldorf salad(yummy), a rice like pasta salad(yummy), peppers, tomato, lettuce. You get the gist. But what they do is pile it high on your plate and for me this is great value. My colleagues both went for toasted wraps and they were good, very cheap too. Like 2.90EUR for a three filling wrap toasted with some crisps on the side. Woah! Staff were very nice and quick to serve. The only fault I have is the smell of stale beer when you enter the building. But when you leave that area it seems to abate.
