We were seated at this restaurant for dinner and not provided a menu. The proprietor came to our table and read the limited items available, a prix fixe menu, from his note pad. There was nothing about the restaurant that alerted us to the insane prices he would charge us, in fact, the restaurant is nothing special (no view of the lake, simple linens and décor). The food was mediocre at best and salty, and the pasta was so over cooked it was difficult to eat. Our meal at Trattoria del Vapore was by far the worst and most expensive meal we’ve had while visiting lake Como. Avoid this tourist trap!

Delish pasta w mushrooms. Nothing beats fresh pasta and added with a nice helping of mushrooms. Owner says he’s 6th generations there. Pear gelato and chocolate was not the best bc chocolate was kind like Hersey syrup :(but the pear gelato yum! Homemade pâté was also really great! It was a rainy night and busy so it was quite stuffy. Very clean.

Went there 2 times. First night, had a «simple» pasta with pomodoro sauce and beautiful meat with mushrooms — great Italy kick off
Second time, repeated the pomodoro pasta and a veal milanese! Excellent!
Will definitely go there again if back to Cernobbio
