while on the road from Tuscany. This had high praises, reasonable rates and vacancy. We booked a room, arrived to find we’d been upgraded to a suite on our first night. Pleasant, knowledgeable staff. Eager to help, spoke English well, which helped us. Clean, up to date, comfortable beds and pillows, great breakfast included in rack rate. We got bumped the second night to a smaller room. Comfortable, nice terrace to sit out at night and enjoy the evening. Onsite parking, $ 10/​day. Definitely would stay here again. Lovely hotel.

We decided to stay in Sorrento as it was conveniently located by many attractions we could do for day trips including Capri, Naples, Amalfi Coast and Pompei. This hotel is within walking distance to the square with many mini markets, restaurants and bars to choose from. The room had a balcony view of the garden area and a free breakfast. The breakfast was great with a big assortment as well as coffee, mimosas and cappachino. All the staff were very friendly and accomodating. The have a parking garage for your car at 10 euro a day. Highly recommend! Would stay here again.

We are so very happy with this lovely hotel.
Our sunny and spacious room is furnished beautifully. The service is impeccable. The morning breakfast a feast. You must call it brunch. the hotel is situated 1 block from the main square in Sorento. We conveniently could walk everywhere. We cannot wait to return!

This is our first trip to Sorrento and the hotel is treating us like royalty. Touches of luxury everywhere you look. Clean and spotless. A little balcony to sit out on. A front desk staff that cannot do enough to please you. Outstanding free breakfast buffet included with fresh Italian muffins and pastries, three kinds of eggs, bacon, cold ham/​prosciutto, etc., free mimosas, fresh oranges to squeeze yourself using their juicer, four kinds of ready-​made juice.
The front desk service was excellent. They hired us a driver for a special excursion at a reasonable price and got us tickets for the Sorrento musical (which was fantastic!)
Orange and lemon trees surround the pool and it is so inviting to sit and meditate in the sun.
The room is spacious and comfortable. The only minor complaint, but I can live with it, is that the shower runs hot and cold alternately if you shower at a time when others are also, so it is hard to adjust it. Small flaw in paradise.

This hotel is perfect for those on a family vacation ie. with young children and those who have disabilities. The hotels location is perfect if you need to use the train, bus, taxi or if you want to just walk around! Hands down the best breakfast buffet options I have had at any hotel in Europe. The service you receive is also very good, the front desk always has someone ready to answer a question you might have and the room service is impeccable :) I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Sorrento :)

This hotel was ranked #2 in Trip Advisor and for good reason. I remember everything being spotless and very well presented. The hotel is located just minutes from the main square but set back far enough so you don’t get the noise from the traffic. Great breakfast buffet with everything you can think of. The rooms were pretty big and we had great views. We had two rooms just off a private hallway by the dining room. We were able to leave our doors open and walk between the two rooms so that worked out great. The rooms do look a bit old but hey, we’re in Italy, we didn’t come here to look at something new. Great views from the balcony and we could see the old Mill (I think that’s what it was) way down below.
The staff was very helpful and made reservations for us when needed. Ask them to book you the olive oil tasting tour nearby. You’ll get picked up outside the hotel and taken to a third generation family run business (Frantoio Gargiulo
) where you get to tour the mill and taste many varieties of olive oil.
Just an FYI, if you need a driver to take you around you can hire one who works for the hotel. Before we arrived in Sorrento the driver picked us up from the Naples train station and drove us to Pompeii for a side trip. He waited for a few hours while we toured Pompeii and then drove us to the hotel in Sorrento.

I was in a hurry and needed to book accommodations and didn’t have too much time to do research. In all honesty, I just booked this place cause it was #2 on TripAdvisor for Sorrento. Mistake #1 — TripAdvisor standards does not equal Unilocal standards. Hotel Antiche Mura is not as good as other 41 four star hotels in Sorrento (even next door at the Hotel Plaza).
The rooms are dated and in desperate need of a makeover. Our room didn’t even have a window but instead had a huge mirror with about 1 ½ foot skylight. Come to think of it, this is probably a fire hazard. The shower in the room is one of those Italian coffin showers which is not great if you’re claustrophobic like me though it does have a new shower spout with jets. Of course none of this is advertised when you’re booking the room!
Like many rooms in Europe, the room lights are activated with room key, however, the problem here is that the room key must be in inorder to activate the «do not disturb» light. Thus, when you leave your room, you cannot activate the «do not disturb» light which means the maids are coming and going out of your room for cleaning and turn down service whether you want it or not… not ideal.
The front desk staff was kind and helpful but I wouldn’t recommend going with their dinner recommendations as it seems like they just give you a pile of menus that get dropped at their desk rather than giving you personalized recommendations (the one menu/​recommendation we followed from them was actually awful).
One good thing about the hotel is that it’s centrally located in the center of the city and near the train station and ferry lines to Capri, Positano, Naples, etc. so it allows for easy access. The hotel is fairly clean (only one spider in our room). Also, the breakfast staff women are also very very nice. They have complementary internet but it is unprotected which is probably why it’s so slow and drops often. They do have a pool but it is awfully small, I wouldn’t plan on swimming in it but I did see people laying by the pool on lounge chairs.
Bottom line, there are other, and better, four star accommodations in Sorrento. Keep looking!

This place is pretty cool. Built next to an old embattlement it derives its name from a wall that was retained as part of the property. Nice big room w/​beautifully tiled floors, buffet breakfast and a shower w/​six jets.
The staff is super nice and they speak English. I tried to be polite and speak Italian and when I made mistakes they would kindly correct me. I would definitely stay here again
The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because the internet conn is weak. E-​mails take forever or did not go thru.
