Our 2nd favorite spot to dine on Sao Miguel is this intimate, modest tapas spot. Vast wine selection of gratifying wines for every palete, deliciously prepared small plates(though the servings are ample) and speedy, pleasant service.

Reserva Bar is one of the cheapest and tastiest wine and tapas I’ve been to in Portugal! They have all sorts of interesting things available– from meat and cheese platters accompanied with olives and jams to flaming chorizo. They have a selection of wines from all over Portugal, including several very interesting ones produced on Pico island(a volcanic island nearby). A bottle of wine, flaming chorizo, meat, cheese, and jam platter, and olives(which served three people quite heartily) came to less 40 euros. The flaming chorizo is divine– the meat on the shared platter good but not spectacular. The wine from Pico was most certainly unique– very obviously from a volcanic island! Definitely recommend Reserva Bar.
