Our waitress was very friendly but overall service was slow. Starters were good however the sirloin steak was tough. Typically they have a bit of fat but there was more than usual and the actual steak was rather tough so that was a shame. The sides were ok, nothing that great, the mash potoato was dry. The finished plates sat for a long time before being taken away. There are a lot of better options before going to this one.

Have to give them all stars possible for putting on a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner. Salad was great. Crab cakes were top notch. Some in our party had to have steak though most of us had turkey. Both were cooked wonderfully. Cranberry sauce was perfect. We asked for mashed instead of roasted potatoes and they were obligingly supplied. Creamed spinach. Stuffing. Mixed veggies. All the right sides were there. Deserts were very tasty and very generous. If in London and in need ad a place to have an American Thanksgiving dinner be sure to inquire here. They certainly made us feel welcome.

This review is specifically for the awesome bar staff! First off this Bourbon Bar offers an amazing selection. But more importantly the staff treat you as friends and enjoy their craft of making delicious drinks. Bartenders Ubay and Robert give each customer’s drink the time and attention it deserves and ensures you are completely satisfied. They are proud of their work and it shows in every sip. I cannot say enough about this place– one night here and we were hooked and had to come back. Probably the best Old Fashioned and Smoked Old Fashioned I have ever had. If you are a bourbon lover, this place is a necessary stop in London.

Arrived for dinner for a late night reservation. The restaurant was a short walk from where I was staying — Park Lane Marriott and I informed this place served the best cheesecake in London. We were seated right away and the dinning room reminded me as if I was back in the U.S. I went with the rib eye and added prawns, side of au gratin potatoes and mushrooms. When my steak arrived It was on the rare side instead of medium rare so I had to send it back which really was disappointing. Both sides were yummy but the boneless rib eye was from Scotland — Aberdeen Angus which is leaner and isn’t as marbleized as the USDA steaks which I prefer. If you’re like myself I would highly suggest the bone in which is USDA here instead and a totally different beef from the no bone rib eye here. The peppercorn sauce was weak and lacked flavor but the standout of the meal was definitely the cheesecake. It was lighter in texture to what I’m use to and had a killer graham cracker crust. At 14 pounds or just under $ 22.00 U.S. dollars it was pricy but can feed four easily. If your visiting London and are in need of a decent meal I would recommend visiting the JW Steakhouse and definitely order the cheesecake! BTW review your bill carefully they tried to overcharge me over 30 Euros for 2 pieces of prawns which they removed totally due to the error.

Being a Texan, we know good steak. Kind of unfair to anyone else. So my standards are high. Choose JW Steakhouse because we are loyal Marriott customers, it was close by, and they were serving their regular menu on Easter Sunday. My wife had the Kansas City Angus Filet. I wanted to try the Scottish grass fed beef, and got the boneless ribeye. Both were good, but not at the same level as Pappas Brothers Steakhouse in Houston or some of the other top tier TX steakhouses. But both were cooked precisely to order, and the service and sides were excellent. Splurged and was talked into the cheesecake for dessert. That was a tweak and was worthy of its recommendation. Thought our wine choice was ironic– a California Zin called The Federalist… in England no less.

Fantastic food and great service! We had the tomahawk steak split for two people around 500g each plus the creamed spinach and fried calamari for a starter. The steak was cooked to our perfection they insisted to let us cut it to make sure it was to our liking. At the end we had the cheesecake which is famous here. I don’t like cheesecake but after having this one I love it now and will try more cheesecakes, cause this one was that good.

I was given a three course meal here as a free gift from a raffle. The prize was incredibly generous and when we arrive the staff informed us there was no limitations on what we could order which we thought was pretty amazing! I had tuna Tatar which was delicious and my other half had the calamari. The portion sizes are so generous that you can barely finish them! The calamari could have happily fed two people very easily. We both had filet steak, mine came with crab, asparagus and bearnaise and sides of potato au gratin and the fellas choice, sweet potato mash with a marshmallow crust??? My steak tasted nice and was OK inside but I think i t got a little burnt on the outside which was carefully covered with the sauce. The bearnaise was very rich and lacked the tarragon tang that I absolutely love so after a few mouthfuls I was desperate for some of the grilled tomato to cut through the richness. My au gratin was gorgeous but probably a bad choice on my part because its also very rich and a salad would have been more than enough as a side. He absolutely enjoyed his steak and although in my opinion, marshmallows are strictly for desert and campfires, he liked the sweet potato mash. By this point we were so full we couldn’t manage the desert and had a coffee instead. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed and our waiter was an absolute star as were the other staff. I’d love to give them the full 5 stars but we couldn’t help feeling that we would have been slightly disappointed had we paid for the meal at the price it would have been. A bit of fine tuning and its 5 stars all the way!

I absolutely love the food here especially the ribs! I couldn’t get enough :) The portion sizes are also quite generous. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, personally the cheesecake was too sweet for me.

Perfection. The Sunday lunch was absolutely one of the best I’ve had in London. The portion sizes are extremely generous; my family of four didn’t even touch half of the bowls of perfectly roasted veg, potatoes, or minted new potatoes. Our server, Chiara, was the best server I have ever had in any restaurant in London. Personable, but professional. A total gem. The perfect Mothers Day meal, and we plan to come back, no question!

Alles in allem volle 5 Sterne!

To sum it up: Excellent wine, great steak, good fries, ok peppercorn sauce, huge dessert. Friendly and professional staff. JW Steakhouse is a steak restaurant located inside the Grosvenor House hotel, right on Park Lane. I entered through the main hotel entrance and then walked straight into the restaurant on the left. JW Steakhouse is a big dining hall dominated by dark and warm colours. I really liked the atmosphere, it was not too loud and even the muted pop music in the background was not too annoying — who doesn’t like a bit of Bryan Adams classics every now and then? The place has a nice atmosphere and staff were pretty friendly. The only apparent interior design flaw I noticed, without being too picky, was a staff corridor that opened opposite my table — that would have been fine with me, but I found it surprising that whenever the door opened, I was distracted by this bringt neon light in this white corridor, that simply did not match the dimmed lighting, warm colours and nice atmosphere in the dining hall. While this corridor might be a good example of minimal and functional design, it also seems a bit odd for such a place. The well-trained waiter kicked off with asking me for drinks. That’s always a good start. I found a Salmon Run, Riesling/Chardonnay, Finger Lakes, USA2011 by the glass, which sounded like an interesting combination to me, so I went for that. And indeed, it was a very decent wine, I would definitely order it again. It had this typical, lovely and distinct minerally Riesling character, was easy to drink and even a bit fruity. A good choice. I was there for an early dinner and went directly to the main courses. They have a number of different cuts and two different suppliers. As I wanted to taste their USDA meat, I ordered a small fillet steak with bourbon peppercorn sauce and salt and truffle fries. The food was almost as good as it sounds. The steak came medium rare as recommended by my waiter and tasted great. The peppercorn sauce was a bit of a let down, for me it could have had a stronger pepper kick to it. It was not bad, but a little bit bland for a peppercorn sauce. The chips were quite skinny and very salt and truffly. I must admit, they were bordering on being too salty, and the strong salt flavour had the potential to spoil the excellent taste of the steak. On the other side, I really enjoyed the fries, despite I later saw crispy fluffy chunky chips arriving at the next table and they also looked tempting. For dessert I got an enormous apple pie with delicious cinnamon ice cream. The dessert was almost too big, but it tasted really good, so I could not just leave half of it uneaten… At some point during my dinner, I noticed that I did not get any bread after I arrived. I expected a place like JW Steakhouse to server bread, but you never know — so I looked again at the menu, and also did not find the bread there. Around the same time, I saw other tables getting fresh bread rolls with butter. As you can always impress me with good bread, you can always disappoint me with no or even bad bread. When the lovely smell of fresh rolls made its way up my nose from the next table, I became a bit sad. I asked my waiter for the bill, and not too long after, a nice girl came over and handled the payment procedure. I spotted the bread rolls on my bill and could not stop myself from mentioning that I did not get them. They are complimentary, but still. She apologised and explained, that they usually get a new batch ready just after I ordered, so they probably overlooked my order because they did not have any fresh buns at the moment. Overall, I liked the food, my wine was excellent and I was very pleased with my waiter, the service and I think the bun mishap was managed well enough. In my opinion, JW Steakhouse is a reasonably good place to enjoy a steak.

Recently went to the JW Steakhouse(9 of us) where we all proceeded to order the burger(our thinking is that the only way to get a good burger in london is to order from steakhouses). The burger is priced at £17 which is expensive but considering it should use some of the finest ground steak and potatoes for frites i figured it was justified. I ASSUREYOUITWASNOT The burgers had zero taste. none. almost like they were added to the menu as an after thought or for a quick option for kids or fussy eaters. and i know what you’re going to say, it’s a steakhouse so order a steak. well… goodmans and hawksmoor are steakhouses and they make delicious, succulent, moist burgers… ugh don’t even get me started on the buns or fries. or how dry it was. you needed a full glass of water just to eat it. on the positive the bread that came before the meal was really good, so were the onion rings. and the serving staff was nice enough. i cannot speak about the quality/taste of the steak and will not go back to do so. my opinion, go to a real steakhouse and not a fancy hotel restaurant dressed up to be one on park lane. and to the patrons of the hotel, i’d recommend you take a short walk or cab somewhere else and enjoy the many gastro-splendours that London has to offer.

The JW American Steakhouse serves the BEST steak I have ever had. I’ve been twice now and the quality has been equally amazing each time. The services is impeccable, the food cooked to perfection. My steak was melt in your mouth, flavourful and cooked exactly as requested(medium rare). Sides of chips and Bourbon sweet potato mash with a marshmallow crust, not something seen at every restaurant in London, but worth a try as it is a truly American dish. If you have room for dessert after your dinner make sure to have the Cheesecake, New York Style as it was meant to be. This restaurant is not cheap but when the bill came I didn’t feel like it was overpriced, I enjoyed my meal and thought it worth every penny. If you have a special occasion it is a great place to go. The tables are set up with reasonable space between them which is refreshing for a London restaurant. There is an outside area for summer evenings, and there is a comfortable bar area where you get the best popcorn in the world(with spiced salt and parmesan cheese). So to round up JW Steakhouse has THE best popcorn, THE best steak, and THE best Cheesecake in London. I am looking forward to my next visit, hopefully sooner rather than later.

So, I don’t want to scare you away, but I haven’t really found a great main course here. Despite that, I keep coming back to JW Steakhouse. Yeah, that means I walk from my hotel, to this other hotel, just to go to their hotel restaurant. Means SOMETHING must be good here. So lets get to those somethings: Beer — They have three beers on draught(bottles are for people who don’t know any better). Two from meantime brewery which are plenty tasty, but skip those. I want you to get the Innis & Gunn. WAIT, don’t stop reading. I’m serious. Get the Innis & Gunn. I don’t care if you tried it out of the bottle in the US and thought it was garbage(what did I say about bottles, and clear bottles? Thats even worse). A pint of Innis & Gunn at JW Steakhouse is the best decision you will make in London. The steakburger is a little taste of America. It comes with crazy good french fries(these are too thin for me to think of them as chips, these are french fries fo sho) and does the trick. I would recommend it if you haven’t had a good burger lately. The bar is a great place to eat if you are eating alone. Bar tenders are friendly, food comes fast, and its just generally a comfortable environment if you have to eat by yourself. The only problem here is the cheesecake. Its a reaaaaaally good cheesecake. But the portion is sized for 2 – 3 people(maybe even 4 people). Yes, that means that I did in fact eat that massive calorie bomb by myself, I didn’t come close to finishing it so they wrapped it up to go. They included a plastic knife and fork so I could eat it in my room, a nice touch.

The cheesecake is the best!!! What started off as a 2 star experience, quickly turned into a 4! While the crab soup was salty and the burger needed a bit more time to cook, the staff made it right. they went above and beyond. They didn’t charge us for our food. We had a great meal that ended with the blissful and decadent cheesecake!

First let me clarify – if Unilocal allowed for half stars, JW Steakhouse would get 3.5 stars from me. This place is a solid American-style steakhouse; portions are large, flavours are bold and service is served with a smile. Here is the good, the bad and the ugly about JW: THEGOOD: It’s all about the meat here, and the steak is good. They cook it just right(even ask you to check it before they walk away) and the seasoning is spot on. If you have room after your meal, try their desserts – the cheesecake is the best, but be prepared to share because it is massive and probably has 5,000 calories. THEBAD: The side dishes were mediocre at best, and worth sending back at worst. The creamed spinach tasted like baby food, the mushrooms were chewy, and the jacket potato was accompanied by skimpy toppings. THEUGLY: The parking situation is ugly; JW is located inside Grosvenor House, so unless you get lucky and find parking on the street, be prepared to pay a pretty penny to park(or you can just cab it!) The final verdict is that JW Steakhouse is a solid go-to when the mood strikes for a juicy steak – just pair it with a good glass of wine rather than their sorry sides.
