Very good food, though a bit pricey for the amount received. Would be 4*, but the waiter forgot about my dad’s fish and chips, and still didn’t bring it by the time the rest of the group was done even though I had reminded him as he brought our food. However, once we complained and decided to cancel our order, no fuss was made and they reimbursed us immediately as well as offering drinks on the house.

Good, typical English Pub atmosphere. However, the first two items we tried to order off the menu were out of stock(even though one was still being promoted on the special board). We finally had to settle on a waitress recommended item. Food came and was mediocre at best. Only thing that tasted OK was the fish in the fish & chips. The chips were very below average. Beer selection was good for British pub. Service was oK. I’ll go elsewhere next time.

Nice Pub… Great service and good food. It is just off Oxford St. so its a bit touristy but still very nice. I will be back when in the city.

A decent joint with some good, but likely standard brews. It’s slightly off the main streets in this area, making it a perfect place to nip into for a pint or two before venturing back out into the action on nearby Bond Street, which when leaving this quietish pub is now conveniently close by. I came here with a friend on a Saturday night around 11pm, it was about half full, comfortable, and just chooglin’ along smoothly. When it came to closing time(12) I’m not sure I’ve ever been kicked out so politely before :) I did not try the food, but it looked exactly the same as I’ve seen in several other pubs(possibly part of a chain).

Nice place. Off the main road, so not too crowded on a Saturday night. A few selections on draft but not enough to want to go back. Friendly bar staff and pretty good music, most of which I hadn’t heard before. Fish & chips were the standard with peas.

This bar has a weird smell… no not the smell of pretentious that hovers around as you see all these uppity class folks drinking their beers with their pinkys sticking out. No, it’s a weird smell from something else, like excess malt vinegar, like the ones they have on all the tables. But after a few minutes, you’ll be able to to get used to it. For a random Thursday night, this place seemed pretty packed. The main bar was full, so was the downstairs and you have people drinking outside too in the overflow area. But like the other pubs in London, these guys have the same menu/brews/food etc. The only difference is the weird smell and the sticky and the not-so-clean tables. Free wi-fi. Just look for and sign up for«The Cloud.»

My last dinner in London with some colleagues from the conference that I had attended. Good basic pub food and a wonderful pint of Bombardier English Ale.

The pub describes that they do the best fish in mayfair well I really think they have a point. Loved the cod father! Yum yum

Stopped by here on a recent trip to London and I loved it! The bartender taking my order was so nice — I had no cash, so she physically walked me downstairs so that she could place my order of Chicken n Chips and a beer the downstairs staff, where I could use a credit card. Really pretty pub downstairs! I’m sure it’s similar to many other British pubs, but I thought it had lovely ambiance :) And the food was good!

Nice average traditional pub off Oxford Street. It opens at 10 am. They have seats outside. This pubby pub offers two real ales(Greene KIng IPA& London Pride) and has 3 handpumps. Average range of drinks and friendly enough service.

I had lunch here back in August, apparently before the«major overhaul». It’s supposedly a «gastropub» now. Last summer, it was a dark and rickety pub that served über-greasy, fried foods. I had my first pint in London here, and my first ever fish and chips experience here. I wasn’t overwhelmed by the experience, but we did get to spy on some interesting characters while we were there. There was a booth next to us that was falling apart: the tabletop kept tilting over. We watched several couples unsuccessfully attempt to sit there. Sneaky, but it was funny. Eventually, we felt sorry for a couple of Japanese girls who were also visiting London, so we asked them to join us at our non-rickety table. Overall, the food was ok. I liked that it was completely unpretentious, but the service was unattentive and sporadic. Good luck in the future!

This used to be one of the Eerie pub chain but is ‘normal’ now and not all that great any more. It has a good location, just off Oxford Street, so is handy for shopping breaks but that is all it has going for it. The food is distinctly average and the staff a bit surly. RIP Eerie Pubs.

It’s like drinking in the Addams Family mansion here. Kooky and spooky. I went out here a few times when I was studying abroad in 2003… I even made out with my boyfriend at the picnic table near the dumpster outside.(I keep it classy, you know how it is.) Funny story: there was a «pirate party» here back then; pirates were getting popular because the first Pirates of the Caribbean had just come out. A few friends and I got all dressed up and showed up… and we were the only ones in costume. Hilariously awkward. But then we just got drunk and more pirate people came and all was well… But I digress. However much fun I had here, in retrospect I think this is the kind of place that would really mostly appeal to teenagers or young folks still really into Tim Burton movies. It would be a bit ridiculous for your average night out I think.

I had lunch at this pub a few summers ago when I was studying in London. It had a really cool interior. Gothic-style and old furnitures. Gargoyle statues on the walls and castle like furniture. I give this place 4 stars because their bathroom doors downstairs were the coolest! You wouldn’t have even known that they were bathroom doors. The walls had fake old books and just push on the wall and the door opens! The arrows on the floor kind of help you… I got a tuna potato jacket here! It was HUGE and delicious! Tuna with corn topping! Yum!

We used to call this the spooky pub as the décor was all about all things weird and ghoulish, they sold shots in test tubes and chemistry apparatus were hanging on the walls, the toilet door was a disguised as a bookshelf and it was generally weird. We went there because it was close to work but to be honest it was a bit of a dump. My visit there last week was therefore a revelation as it has been done up and has nice, clean and semi trendy feel to it. It has a nice space outside albeit only on the street to sit and chill on an evening and the inside feels almost like a bistro. I would think that this will be ideal for the office workers in the area and also the tourists /shoppers that will stumble across it. It is definitely an improvement on what it was but it is not a place that you would make the effort to go to for a good night out. A pub that caters well for its intended market.

I have given this pub such a poor ranking, due to the recent re-fit that they have had. ITISNOLONGERTHESPOOKYPUBPEOPLE! It is just a normal pub now, and after being inside, it really has no character or atmosphere. It feels almost clinical! It is a pity, ‘cos I really enjoyed the spooky theme. Although it was kitch, it was bloody fun! And now its really rather shite(pardon my French). There are no locals, just lots of people stopping by from Oxford St, and on occasion, a small group of baffled goths wondering where their pubs gone! Unfortunetly there are no other pubs really close-by, but do try and go on to the next one, there are tonnes within a 10 minutes(or less!) walk away. Even a new head of Mr Marlborough has been painted on the sign.

This pub is very original in its décor, and has quite a goth feel to it, without you feeling that you need to have 20 piercings to drink there. There is quite a surprise that I wont’ ruin for you, but adds to its appeal. It gets very busy, but you don’t usually have to wait too long at the bar. Occasionally the bar staff are a bit stroppy, but mostly you don’t get that. Its very much an after work bar, and you tend to get a lot of bond street suit kind of people, which is definitely a downside to this place. It also gets too busy that you can’t find a seat after 6.30 to 7pm. Overall its a great little venue.

This place is amazing! I needn’t describe it — that’s been done. But I found the ‘7 deadly sins’ cocktails ridiculously cheap — especially when bought by the jug. Not to mention the fact that they are delicious, divine. One down side: in the daytime, it is filled with odd, stuffy people who make you feel uncomfortable for being there but I shan’t hold it against the pub, I think those are simply the type of people who drink in the middle of the afternoon(and serves me right for drinking at that time too).

Part of the Eerie Pub Chain, the Marlborough Head is the big sister pub to Ben Crouch’s Tavern located down in Fiztrovia. Located close to Marble Arch, the pub attracts a great number of tourists and has a high staff turnover. It spans two floors, a mixture of cosy nooks and long, open tables, so a good pub for many occasions. The downstairs has a huge picture wall, featuring an old bookcase in which hides the toilets. The only hint that they are there is a gold sign on the floor, so do watch out or you’ll feel silly when asking for directions! Drinks are quite pricey, but this is due to the location rather than the quality. The wine menu is a bit sparse, but the beer is numerous and they do a wide selection of soft drinks. Food is quite standard — fish and chips, burgers, salad, but all well cooked and served quickly.

this place is on a shelf of its own. with toilets that looks like bookcases and old wooden electrical chairs hanging from the ceiling and cocktails named after the 7 deadly sins, this place is not for the faint hearted. unfortunately only 3 stars from me because of normally quite rude staff and slighly overpriced drinks(pint of fosters £3.40 last time i went 2007)((i think i should be illegal to charge more than £2.70 for fosters)) otherwise it’s a great place with heaps of interesting things to look at and the food is not too shabby either.
