Good choice for a sunny day as has balcony and outside seats. They have some good bottles but the draft can be a bit run of the mill. The staff are so friendly though that I am always keen to stop in.

I loved this place. I’m from out of town and the owner, Adam as well as the bartender, Addison were extremely friendly and helpful. Had a great bottle of champagne with my family and enjoyed the thoughtful atmosphere. Loved the music they were playing as well. The menu looked great as well, but to be fair we didn’t order food. An hour after leaving the bar we got a knock on our front door(we’re staying in the neighborhood) and it was the owner with my wallet that I had left by mistake. They really saved the day. Good guys!

Mostly have been here on Sundays to have a roast. They make a fine roast beef. Can’t say what it’s like on a busy saturday night though. Service is good. atmosphere relaxing and cozy. It’s down the street from a friends house. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here otherwise though.

I am a local so I go there very often from laziness. It is a cute pub but the service is absolutely AWFUL! Not the people who service(they are lovely, esp the Aussie and the lovely red headed lady who always smile and chat). It’s the owner and all their rules. So do not care about customers. They really care about money. They are really nice people but what owners tell your favourite dish will not be on the menu again because the cut of meat is too expensive? The prices are NOT cheap FYI £12−16 for quite basic pub grub and a very limited menu. Makes you wonder what kind of crap meat is on the rest of the menu if decent rump of lamb is too expensive in England? Also, I once asked to send something back(once since 2005 going there at least once a week), Sara the owner argued that it was the same chef, same recipe so what was my problem and that she ate it and felt it was fine. Again, I spend a lot of money there and order regularly and never complain. I really did not expect it to be confrontational because I didn’t like a rather tasteless and burnt entrée. Really really poor treatment.

One of my local pubs in the area, really enjoyed coming here for a Sunday roast. The portion size was great and the Yorkshire pudding was great! A top tip to share is they have an upstairs seating area with a nice balcony to eat at. They also have two rooms upstairs AND board games! 4 stars for me as the prices are a bit on the higher side, but other than that Talbot is what you want from a pub. It does get very packed in the late afternoons and weekends so plan ahead!

Ah, a quaint little pub. Nothing that’s going to blow you away or demand that you come this way, but if you’re in the niehgbourhood or just searching for a good sit and a good drink, this is the place to be. A few of us met up here for a Sunday Roast and it was solid. I got the beef which was tasty and came with a nice helping of trimmings: Yorkshire pudding on top of the meet, veggies below. Again, not the best roast I’ve had but not the worst either. A comfort all around. There’s a strange but nice selection of seats throughout this place: couches to lounge, wooden tables with wooden seats to sit, even some picnic benches outside on both a beer garden and a patio overlooking it. Got to love your options! Again, a solid four star joint. Enjoy it if there.

I live on the edge of De Beauvoir and there a lots of pubs to choose from in the area yet I find myself heading back to The Talbot time and time again, for the following reasons: the staff are lovely & recognize their regulars, the food is good and changes frequently, and the winelist is really interesting. The pub does get quite busy on weekends so we usually try to get there early or make the most of The Talbot after work during weeknights, when it is much easier to get a seat I have to completely disagree with some of the older comments about the staff I think they are super friendly and always try to go out of their way to help you out. The Talbot is definitely my favourite local!

This place is awesome! There is nothing pretentious or fake about this place other than the negative reviews! These do not represent the actual opinions of anyone that lives in the area or any one that actually frequents the place regularly! There is Always a friendly and professional manner and if you want somewhere away from the city suits and the all too trendy places on kingsland road this place is a gem! They have a great selection of wine that you will not better locally and are always happy to increase your wine knowledge and broaden your horizon. As well as this the food is fantastic! With the menu changing to accommodate seasonal produce and a the occasional surprise popping up! Such as a fantastic three bird roast my friends and I enjoyed on a recent Sunday trip! If you want somewhere that is a welcoming, friendly and professional pub with a big heart you would be well advised to pay this off the main drag oasis a visit!

I decided to go to the Talbot for my birthday drinks this weekend and was informed by the management when I called up before hand that they no longer reserve areas on the bar but it was fine to come down early and save some space. By 8:30pm the doorman was instructed by the manager to stop letting people in even though the pub was at no way near full capacity. At no point was the reason for this explained but instead we were greeted by an extremely rude manager who seemed ‘put out’ by people asking why our friends were not being let in. This wasn’t helped by the fact that it was pouring with rain outside and at no point did the manager apologise or even offer people to wait under the outside awning to be let in at a later stage — in fact it almost seemed an inconvenience to have decent custom. At one point the manager said it was one in one out(so some of my friends decided to hold out for a while) but when a number of people did leave he still rudely told people to go away and at no point would they be let in without any explanation as to why. I have never come across such arrogance and rudeness from a pub management. It felt like we had gone back in time to some ‘super club’ with strict door policies. There are so many nice pubs in the De Beauvoir area that there is NONEEDTOGOTOTHISPUB and be treated so terribly when arriving with such great custom. I live locally and WILLNOTBERETURNING (unless the pub changes hands /management!). This view is now shared by many locals.

Nice looking pub, typical Gastro type pub — comfy couches, friendly staff, etc. Recommend if you are in the area & are just looking for somewhere for a few drinks, meal & to hang out. Reasonable prices too. There is a nice outside bit too, it’s in the shade but at least it’s there! The place also has a balcony and has fairy lights all around it! Giving it a Christmas feel all year round! My only reason for dropping a star is that, apart from the few couches, the seating is very kitchen like — wooden seats at tables. Not bad, just a personal thing for me — I’d rather lounge and relax when having a few drinks — these make it feel like I’m sitting at the kitchen table!

This gastro pub is quite local to me. Unfortunately they served me an awful pint I couldn’t finish. I think it had been in the pipes overnight or something as my friends enjoyed theirs(poured subsequently). Would not really be quite my kind of place, even without the dodgy beer.

I really like the Talbot and think it deserves 5 stars for just being a lovely pub. I haven’t eaten there in years as more gastros opened up nearer to where I lived, but now I’m just round the corner I expect this(as opposed to the Scolt Head* whose staff can be awkward, unhelpful, customer unfriendly idiots) to be my preferred local. It’s buzzing without being crazy busy on a Saturday night, we even got a table for dinner without a reservation at 9pm. And when the diners leave they allow the drinkers to take their space(unlike the Scolt Head* who need 13 hours to set up a dinner table with a paper napkin, knife and fork!). Music is good, they have a selection of seating options too: dining tables, sofas, picnic benches outside and on the balcony above and a small beer garden out the back. Also, the staff were lovely. *My hatred for the Scolt Head may or may not have pushed this review up by a star or so.

Ok nobody panic… I came here when it was an «old man’s pub» a Long time back so seen the changes. It got done and they followed the formula — DJ booth, quality pan-European grub and casually«knowing» service. The slightly pretentious is ok if the service and consumables are on point and they were… just…tart and risotto good. Service informal but informed. Obviously the new breed of desperate Dalston twat in the house but once twat-filter applied all ok… ish. Worth a treaty Friday night with your partner…

The Talbot goes above and beyond what you want from a Local pub. It was recently renovated, and while I didn’t know what it was like before I LOVE it now. It has been comfy couches and GREAT music(most of the time}. Some nights they have a DJ, and his music might have inspired a conga line in the past There are some sweet posters on the wall, like an old pic of Joe Strummer and Bob Marley, if that helps influence your decision to go there at all. A little known secret is that there is an upstairs if it’s ever too crowded, and a nice balcony to enjoy the lovely London summer weather. and the food there is lovely, a step above pub grub, including my favorite wasabi peanuts i have ever eaten. mmmm.

Nice pub in great location, but why whenever I go in here do I not enjoy it? — it normally before I go into the Vietnamese nearby. the staff are never friendly and quiet arrogant and the vibe is odd, real style over content. This is part of a small chain in the area that buy old east end boozers, fill them with furniture stripped in an acid bath and leather sofas that are cold to sit on, take the plaster off back to the brickwork(for a real organic feel, yaaaahh Tarquin!), stick a chandelier up and a blackboard selling ‘Roast Butternut Quash’ at £12.00. They are made to look like individual pubs but THEREISNOPASSION! at least employ friendly staff! — London is unfriendly generally and you have an opportunity here to make people feel welcome, thats what I expect especially having just laid out nearly £20 for 3 mojhitos. Go here for a drink if you are passing through for convenience but not as a destination, you’ll die of boredom from the cool vibes emanating from behind the bar. Perhaps if you loudly announced at the bar that you had just paid £300 for a pair of Vintage limited edition Nike trainers on ebay, you’d get AMAZING service!

A somewhat up itself pub in the fancy De Beauvoir town. It’s green on the outside and has a pretty dark feel inside. That’s not that they’re evil, just the wood and the lighting isn’t very bright. Nearly as expensive as the nearby Northchurch but not as good. They often run out of food early. If they do have the chocolate fondant on the menu though, buy buy buy and drift away in choco heaven

Considering it is in the back of nowhere with other far better pubs within spitting distance it had a strange arrogance about itself with over ambitious(and overpriced) food and condescending service.
