Alexandria Carpet One Floor & Home Showroom

It was a complete disaster working with Alexandria Carpet One. I had a roughly 650 square foot floor that needed to be replaced with hardwood — 3.5 months later it is finally semi-​finished enough where I decided to hire someone else to finish it.
After a month, they said they had completed the project, but I could easily see my subfloor in three places, their contractor broke 8 baseboards, the shoe molding coloration ranged from light tan to black-​ish brown, and the shoe molding cuts look like a middle schooler did it and put a pound of wood filler in each corner.
Even when I had them come back multiple times, they constantly tried to do the quick cover-​up instead of doing it right. For example, there were a few places that the shoe molding corners were so bad that the shoe molding was literally a half inch off the baseboard. Instead of fixing the corner properly when I pointed it out, they put a ton of caulk in the huge gap between the shoe molding and the baseboard. I literally had to hold their hand the entire way to get this done.
Also, the floor installers they use bring day workers (who likely aren’t legal employees). I regret not going to Total Floors instead. Seriously, run away from these people!

We recently had carpet put in 2 bedrooms for our condo that is about to go on the market for sale. I had called Home Depot out for a quote and they charged a fee to even come take measurements. The person that came was also very rude. They called me around noon to give me the quote which seemed extremely high! I called Carpet One thinking they wouldn’t be able to come measure for a couple days, however I was surprised by the customer service. David Fanning told me they were very busy that day but he himself would come out that afternoon to measure the rooms. David was so friendly and brought a sample of the carpet with him. He sent me the quote the very next morning and it was $ 500 less than Home Depot. They were able to set up the installation the next week. Then Alejandro and another installer showed up to install right on time! They were so professional and nice. Within the first 15 min of arriving they had already tore out both old carpets in both bedrooms and removed them. The carpet looks beautiful and I couldn’t be happier! Now if we can just get a quick sell ;)

In my opinion, you will get better service elsewhere. Not very quick to help.

I had great service with Carpet One from the time I chose carpeting thru installation Perry was a real help explaining the many types and price. He listened to my needs and help choose something that can stand up to dogs and wear Somewhat skeptical of having to move furniture etc for the install was all made right by Salved and Abraham. They moved a few pieces as they carpeted different rooms. They were unbelievable professional considerate and took great care w everything in my home. Perry in the store hold me they would do a great job. He was right. There was no stress. Huge thanks to all 3 Could not have been better experience. If your considering to carpet and keep putting it off Iike I did for fear of all the work and unknown extra expenses get over it. They know what they are doing. I was quoted a price no surprises and installed by trustworthy people true professionals. Kind and considerate the carpet looks incredible

Just say no to Carpet One.
We just moved into a new house and the previous owner had a bad kitty. The evil creature destroyed of the carpet in one of the rooms and it desperately needed to be replaced. New to the area, I went in search of carpet and found this place.
When I entered the store, a lady at the front desk called up a salesman, Dan, for me to work with. I didn’t care who the salesman was, I needed carpet and he seemed to want to sell some. He really didn’t seem to know any of the prices per square foot of the carpet and had to go to the back room to his desk whenever I would ask. It was very cumbersome and time consuming. But once again I was in desperate need of carpet. They will not order carpet without having their guy come out to measure – even if you have the measurements. So we scheduled an appointment for between 9am and 11am for the measuring guy.
On the date that Dan wrote on his business card I cleared the schedule and I waited between 9 and 11 for no one to show. I hate the service window appointments anyway but to have a no-​show is irritating. I called Dan and turns out he told me the wrong day, the guy was actually scheduled for the next day. He showed up the next day and rooms were measured. So back to Carpet One we go to pick out carpet.
The husband took some time off work for a quick trip to carpet one to pick out carpet. It was a week day and we didn’t expect it to take long at all, so we brought me five year old son with us. Dan still wasn’t familiar with the prices so every time I asked about carpet, he had to run to his desk to look it up. Only it was taking him 30 minutes each time. Every time I would ask a price or a question about the carpet, he would disappear, leaving us standing in the back corner of the store for about 30 minutes. Which seems like an eternity to a bored adult in a carpet store let alone my 5 year old. My poor son fell asleep waiting for Dan to get his act together. Finally after an hour and a half of hanging out, I went to find Dan’s desk. Where I found him munching on his lunch. We left with no carpet ordered – Dan had wasted far too much of my time and I refuse to beg someone to take my money. We ended up going to Total Floors – which I highly recommend – excellent service and just a wonderful family business! I wishI would have gone there first!

Our local elementary school (Stratford Landing) found itself in a predicament the week before school started. Our second grade classrooms had carpet that was removed and replaced with tile over the summer. We didn’t have any rugs for the kids to sit on during reading time. One call to Carpet One and they had no hesitation to donate three fantastic 8×12 rugs. A huge thank you to David Fanning and the team at Carpet One for being such a great contributor to our community and helping out 90 second graders!
On another note, I bought a family room carpet from Carpet One nine years ago and it has been wonderful. For sure will only use Carpet One for our home.

Went here because we heard they have good remnant carpet at reasonable prices. I wish we never got that advice, because after we went a couple of times without seeing anything we liked, we have been back and had an incorrect quote that was exorbitant and then another attempt where the salesperson basically laughed because we didn’t want to spend a grand on a 10×10 carpet. The general feeling we got was that they didn’t want our business, capped off with being told to go to Home Depot instead and «you’ll come back to us when you want something better».
I am fine if you have to tell me that you don’t carry anything in my price range, but you should always treat every customer with respect, because at some point I will be looking for more than a middle tier area rug…

What an incredible job with a very difficult challenge. My wife and I wanted to put an oriental carpet runner on our stairs but had put it off for 12 years because we just couldn’t see how to do that with our stairway. Our staircase goes up 6 stairs, then a right hand turn onto a landing that was eight feet across, then another right hand turn up 6 more stairs to the second floor. Virtually all oriental continuous carpet runners have a central repeating pattern as well as a substantial border with a pattern. We couldn’t see how you could possibly do those turns and not have a terrible looking seam showing at the turns.
Finally we saw a Karastan pattern we really like and decided to visit the Alexandria CarpetOne store which had many Karastan (and other brands) continuous stair runners in the store to see. They actually had two samples of the one we liked and we were able to lay one on top of the other to get an idea how the turns might be able to be accomplished and look good. The salesperson, manager, and technical expert worked with us to see how the repeat pattern would be successfully used to make the turns and at the same time minimize costly wastage. I decided to take a photo of the sample to bring home and play with in PhotoShop to actually put the pieces together and print out. I was amazed at how perfectly it looked on paper that the job could be done. We ordered the carpet and scheduled the installation.
When our installation technician came to the house to do the installation, he very quickly prepared the stairs with padding and was then ready to tackle the carpet pattern for the turns. He showed us how he would center the repeat patter on the landing and make 45 degree cuts on each end of that piece. Then pick up the same place in the pattern to make the 45 degree cuts to go from there down the stairs in on direction and up the stairs in the other direction. We had one slight problem in making the patterns exactly match at the turns since a normal way to lay the landing was exactly down the middle of the landing with the same size margin on each side. We found that by violating that normal installation rule by just ½″ we could get an exact match. We were all extremely pleased with that finding and he was very happy to proceed with making the cuts that way.
We were still holding our breath to see how it worked out but he had to be the best in the business since you can absolutely not tell that this is not somehow a continuous carpet made by the manufacturer. We continue to be very pleased and amazed every time we go up and down the stairs which is many times a day. We are so proud of the job we show all our friends who visit and they are as amazed as we are.
We have had several jobs done by Alexandria CarpetOne and all have turned our very well, which is why we go back to them, especially when we have a challenging job. We can trust them to get it done right.

I chose to use Alexandria Carpet One for a wood floor installation in my condominium. The overall job was small and only covered 1 bedroom and a small set of stairs. Unfortunately, the overall experience from Alexandria Carpet One was extremely dissatisfying and I would not recommend going to them for future services. I have included the factual details of my experience with this company and I would strongly encourage you to look for other options.

The initial installation of the wood floors and removal of existing carpet in the bedroom occurred on this day. I took off work to ensure the installers had access to the condominium. When they arrived they removed all of the carpet and moved remaining pieces of furniture into the living room. After the carpet was removed, the installers determined that the nosing piece for the stairs wasn’t the correct type and wasn’t ordered correctly. They stated they couldn’t start the rest of the installation without the correct piece. They also measured the wood treads ordered for the stairs, which were the wrong size and not deep enough for the stairs.
All measurements were conducted by an employee of Alexandria Carpet One (Note: I later came to find out through phone contact with a manager at Carpet One that this individual was let go for such reasons as this). After contact with Carpet One, a field representative from the company came out to review the situation and found that the job couldn’t be completed at that time. The incorrect pieces were ordered due to the mistake of Carpet One and I was displaced from my bedroom. I was offered a night in a hotel to correct the problem, but I passed on this offer and stayed in my living room. If I had taken them up on the offer of the hotel it would have taken more than just one night as it turns out the pieces took longer to bring in to start the floor.

The installers came back on this date, but still didn’t have the correct nosing piece. They utilized a make shift nosing piece and continued on placing the rest of the wood floors in the bedroom. The treads for the stairs weren’t ready yet as they had to be milled by the manufacturer, because of the incorrect mismeasured first order. The bedroom wood floors were completed, but the stairs remained unfinished.

Again, I took time off work to meet the installers in the afternoon so they could come back out with what they said was the correct nose piece for the installation on the wood floors. The nose pieces were the incorrect type of flooring and one was stained so it didn’t match the rest of the floor.

The installers came back to my place with a nose piece that was cut down from extra treads that were ordered. When they arrived they found out it was cut too short for the space and was again measured incorrectly. The other piece they had was a yellowish piece that didn’t match the rest of the flooring. They said they could install the wood nose piece that was short, but would have to cut out a sliver of other wood flooring and put it in between the flooring that was installed and the nose piece. This was a work around to finish the job and when I last talked to the manager about this, it was agreed that the best way to fix the issue was to get the correct piece to match the rest of the floors.

I contacted the manager I had been dealing with to follow up to see what the status was of the correct nose piece required to finish my wood floor installation. Per the e-​mail contact, he setup a meeting with his staff to follow up on the issue on ¹⁰⁄₁₀.

A follow up visit occurred by one of the Alexandria Carpet One employees to review the missing section connecting the bedroom floor and the staircase. The same nose piece issue that started almost a month prior when the installation process commenced. The employee informed me that they thought the ‘job’ was complete as of ¹⁰⁄₁ and the installers didn’t inform them that there was still an issue with getting the correct nose piece. One week had passed from ¹⁰⁄₁ — ¹⁰⁄₈ and Alexandria Carpet One didn’t even know the job was still pending.

The installer came back with the correctly measured nose piece and finished the installation.
The total time included 6 visits where I had to meet the employees of Carpet One at my condo, numerous phone calls, time off work and the stress involved in the process due to faulty steps by the company. I was offered a small compensation for the final balance totaling a reduction of $ 571.72. I was very displeased with the outcome of service and compensation due to the numerous issues involved during this installation process. If availability of the nose piece was an issue, I would have preferred to wait for the correct piece to be ordered. I believe the company lacked communication between the installers, due to Carpet One believing the job was finished for a period of one week, while I was still waiting. Again, I would not recommend going to this company.

We called Carpet One for an estimate on a small flooring job. The guy they sent seemed to know his stuff, but ended up quoting us an outrageous price ($ 900 to lay down 100 sq ft of vinyl flooring, plus $ 500 to level the concrete foundation and lay a new subfloor). When we asked to have only the leveling and subfloor portion of the work completed, he stalled for a few days and then eventually replied with «our installers are not trained on that type of work.» I guess Carpet One is only interested in our business if we’re willing to pay a ridiculously high price for an easy flooring job.

This is a preliminary review to off-​set the single disgruntled and one-​time used Unilocaler who apparently doesn’t own a phone to follow-​up with their order.
Went to store at 12:05pm on Friday to schedule an appointment to get a quote for refinishing about 650 square feet of hardwoods. At 1:10pm they were are my door and by 3:00pm I had a full-​on quote, contract, and details of the job. Hmmm … so compared to the two months to get swatches for carpet, which, as anyone knows, you can find in their store or any store, I find it a little difficult to understand how someone can sit at home for two months without following up with the store.
I will let you know how the process goes. They have DUST FREE refinishing, user all enviro-​friendly products, have a 20 year warranty guarantee the floors not to fade (my current floors are faded badly after only 13 years) and the staff is friendly and fast.
This place is not cheap, it is the Thompson Creek of floor refinishing, costs about $ 5.25/sq foot where most places are $ 2.75 to $ 3.00 however the dust free cleaning is worth it, trust me there!

We selected a few options for a wall-​to-​wall carpet. A sales person asked for our contact details to send us samples. This was nearly 2 months ago and we have not heard anything from them.
