For those born and raised in the 626, we all have dealt with the«which café should we go to» question countless of times. All I can say is to go try it for yourself and don’t go in with a high expectation that the food is top notch or the flavors that will blow your mind. As a steak lover, I always order either a ribeye or a New York strip. In terms of portion size, it’s a pretty big piece. Here is where things start to spiral downhill. Whether you would like your steak cooked medium-rare, medium, well, etc., do not expect it to be actually cooked to the temperature you desire. I’ve had experiences where my steak came out rare or even almost well done. For me to pay $ 12 for a steak that isn’t cooked properly, its very disappointing because I can just go to Albertsons or Ralphs to get the same cut and cook the steak the way I want by myself at home. I’ve ordered other dishes as well and I can say it’s meh. There isn’t one dish that stands out to me. I would recommend going elsewhere if you crave café food since there are so many other choices along Valley Blvd/SGV. The good thing about Asian cafes is that if you got the late night munchies, they are open until the early morning hours. I believe they close at 2am, but I could be wrong. Service is hit or miss. They do have outdoor seating; however, it is a smoking area. Its a huge dislike for me if I decide to go eat there and I see most of the tables in the outside area seated because most of the customers will be smoking. Not sure how others feel when they walk to enter the restaurant, but get to inhale some smoke along the way.

A very authentic Chinese place for Chinese people(not Americanized Chinese dishes at all). Prices are reasonable, although quality varies a little. Service is prompt. One slight negative is having to walk through the smokers patio to get into or out of the restaurant.

Decent Asian café. Nothing amazing but nothing bad. Orange ice tea here is amazing I’ll give them that. The food here is decent. Nothing amazing that I’ll crave for but more like I’m hungry and I need a good fix. Only downside? Walking into the restaurant you have to walk through the patio area which is filled by smokers. And if you hate the smell of smoke like I do it’s kinda gross to smell that right before eating

When it’s 2am in the morning and you’re just looking for a spot to hang out and chill with friends, you can always count on some sort of café to be open in this area. This place use to be located off Atlantic Blvd. but moved to this location over 5 years ago, and for me, it’s definitely a step up in terms of décor & looks. Food, however, is still the same & nothing really differentiates it from the other local café joints in the area. I typically stick to my usual hear of fried noodles & rice noodles since nothing really appeals to you better during those late night morning cravings and chats with friends. Food taste is a hit or miss, where it literally can taste awesome one time, and make you scrunch your face the next. Service here is just okay. Workers here are just doing the best they can, when they can. Some are more attentive than others. I liked that even though closing time had already set in that day we were there, no one tried to rush us off with the usual drop off the bill hint. Like I said earlier… when you don’t have options; don’t come with high expectations. Indoor & outdoor seating areas for those that want to smoke while eating. Pretty well lit and located at the end of a busy shopping mall that includes a Planet Fitness, Wells Fargo, Starbucks, Ono Hawaiian &AT&T store.

Average café spot to go to, especially at night. I had the clam chowder and it was good. It had a lot of clam and potatoes which is worth it. The texture of the soup was not that creamy or thick but it wasn’t bad either. I was not that hungry so I ordered this. Filet mignon with udon, I had some off my friends plate and I liked it. Flavorful but greasy. I was able to enjoy it still.

My friend and I scheduled to do brunch on a Sunday, he picked Sunday Bistro because he wanted to try this place. Located in a plaza, you won’t have a hard time finding parking – unless the lot is full. I came in first and was immediately sitted. I noticed that the outside tables were filled with elderly men and smokers so I wanted to be sitted indoors. The menu has an array of choices so it was a bit difficult to make a decision with so many options. In the end, we decided to get two rice dish: the Indonesian fried rice and Baked Seafood. Over all, the dishes were decent nothing too different or mind blowing. I’d definitely comeback and try their other dishes.

This place is your typical chinese café. The portions are big and I always do family style here with my family. I enjoy the baked pork chop rice, XO seafood fried rice, salted pork knuckle with horse radish slaw(the best I’ve tried in all other café spots). we also tried the salted fish vermicelli and chow mein, that wasn’t bad. the noodles itself isn’t salted until you take a big nite of the salted fish, lol. the lemon iced teas are refreshing on a hot day and free refills! all in all, if you want conform chinese café food, this is the place to be.

The food here is very similar to any cafes found in the area, so nothing spectacular here. I’ve been here several times when I had no idea what to eat and decided to settle for this place, and for the most part, the food is decent. Some plates are heavy with oil and you can seen it on the entrees of food, glistening in the light. I typically stick to their fried rice and noodle entrees because its enough to share amongest people. Some of the food is a hit or miss, so you will have to know what you want to get beforehand otherwise it might just taste bad. Drinks are like your any typical café, loaded with sugar and probably made from powder, so I would ditch it and stick with water unless you really want it. The service here is not that great, the people that work there don’t seem to know how to respond to customers. I had to flag people down and raise my voice in order to get them to assist me. Granted, not all of the servers are horrible, some are actually very attentative, but overall they can improve in many areas. I shouldn’t have to wait that long when I ask for the check, or to get a a refill, but you make me. Plus a simple smile goes a long way when it comes to earning that tip from me. Overall come here with no expectations. Expect decent to subpar quality food; but definintely go for the fried rice or noodle dishes if you are really hungry.

Thought I’ll give these guys another try. The food was decent but the service still stinks. Not sure why so many Chinese restaurant can’t understand customer service and how their restaurant depends on it. Me and my girlfriend asked for water and our waiter never brought it. Then I can hear the cooks in the back coughing a mucous they have stuck in their throat. Disgusting! Also, they also allow patio smoking in which the restaurant smells like a second hand smoke hot box. And finally the waiter never brought us our check. Will not return and don’t understand why anyone would come here. Feels like a somewhat clean restaurant with a third world country service.

Decent HK café style food, expansive menu, comparable prices, expected quality of service, and a small crowd makes this probably my go to café spot. You can go to the much busier garden café or bacali down the street but until this place starts making me wait, I’ll get my coffee/milk tea refills here thank you very much.

The service is going downhill! There was at least 5 servers walking around. After sitting down, it took them at least 5 minutes to come and take the order. Then my hot oatmeal did not come. We tried to wave to get the servers’ attention. Finally one came but did not understand the English word for oatmeal. She had to call another server to come and find out what I needed. Business is good. Price is reasonable. Food is okay. There are at least 10 similar restaurant in the area. Why customers return? Why customers bring their friends and return? It is because of the SERVICE! If the owner reads similar reviews about the service, he/she should reflect and educate the servers!

Besides the foods Waiter yelled«I don’t have time, go ask somebody else» when asked to order Don’t expect to get over hard egg even if you requested. And make sure you don’t send it back to the kitchen, they will give you the mean looks. When asked for 3 glasses of water, you will get one. Our whole family has to share that precious one glass of water. I guess they are doing whatever they can to help support the california drought. Don’t expect the waiters will notice you the first two times you raise your hands, you want your orders, you need to look into their eyes and wave hard and hoping they can see you Well, we are here on a Sunday morning, I am sure their services and foods should be slightly better during weekdays Will I come back again? No, if is my choice but too bad, some family members love to go there.

Came here really late last night after a night out with friends. This place closes at 3:30AM which is crazy. But it’s one of the few places I know that’s serving Asian food at this late hour. Here’s what I ordered: Rib eye sandwich — comes on toasted buttered French bread. It definitely could use more meat. There definitely wasn’t enough. It comes with picked veggies on top. This is a sweeter pickled veggie not the tangy vinegary kind. I like both so for me this sandwich was pretty good. Came with a small side salad with honey mustard dressing. I’d order this again. There is also a chicken option. Fries with meat sauce — fries came out hot and crispy. And it was topped with your standard meat sauce. The sauce was less tomato-y than what you’d expect with pasta but it was still okay. It could use some more flavor but it wasn’t bad. The sauce was just slightly bland. The portion is huge so be aware. Fried calamari — came out hot and crispy. Texture-wise this was perfect. Calamari was cooked well. It just smelled a little too fishy for me. Luckily, this wasn’t my order so I only had a bite. Brisket and wanton noodle soup — since it was so cold last night, this hot soup was really good. It was kind of salty but the flavors were good. Noodles came out perfectly just the way I like, slightly on the harder side. Overall, I’d check out this place again because their menu is huge. Don’t come here expecting to leave wow’d by the food but if you’re out late and craving some Asian food, this is a good place to stop.

Haven’t been here for over a year and clearly they remodeled again. The food is just like any other café food nothing too special or different that others. What i noticed on the menu that I’ve never seen before is now they limit your beverage to 2 – 3 refills. The struggle is seriously real LOL! Dinner time they served us each beef vegtable soup with our order.

Only been here for late night drunk eats. Decided to come for breakfast and it was packed. Waited 15 minutes to a table. Service was so so. Food came out quick. Food was roughly between $ 7 – 10 a dish, comes with hot coffee or tea. Iced drinks come with a surcharge. Porriage with Chinese Donut — Comfort food. Not to thick and not to soupy. Dipping the donut in porriage is the best! Beef Noodle Soup — Broth was decent. Meat overcooked quickly and got chewy. Rice Noodles with Minced Meat — I liked the chewy thick noodles. Soup was good. Meat was meh. Overall, decent breakfast but nothing special.

Every once in a while I am forced to eat here because my dad has an odd fixation about it. Did I ever tell you that one time my dad was in the hospital and was struggling to spit any words out and once he came to we realized all he was trying to say was«get me noodles from Sunday Bistro»? No? I swear it’s true. Let’s just say I haven’t gotten sick from eating here before, buuuuut I wouldn’t be surprised if I ever did. Some decent dishes: — House Special Chicken($ 10.95) — 3⁄5 — cold salted chicken doused in szechuan chili oil and ground peanuts. Good with rice(btdubz rice is an extra $.75/person). Kinda pricey for the portion. — House Sauteed Fish Filet — 4⁄5 — Imagine chicken tenders made out of fish and tossed in a savory, peppery sauce. Yum. — Their wontons. Their wontons are«ooh!» good but it’s a shame the broth they swim in are not to the same caliber. I dont know how anyone could get their baked rice/pastas. If you are not familiar with HK style faux-talian food, those dishes are a disgrace to even Papa John’s. The tomato sauce is creepily artificial looking and the whole dish looks like it came out of an alien’s 3 bungh0les. I also feel like their prices have raised recently but the quality of their food has yet to see an upgrade. TL;DR this place has literally nothing special but if you eat here you most likely won’t die. PROTIP: If you don’t like second hand smoke, plug your nose during your walk from the parking lot til you get through the double doors.

Came here to pick up lunch To go on a Sunday due to convenience. Place was busy with a few people waiting for tables. They took my order quickly and we waited about 10 minutes for our order to arrive, which is pretty fast! Food is reliable as far as Asian diner food goes. Parking is in a shared lot of the shopping plaza and get packed fast.

My grandparents love coming here for traditional Hong Kong breakfast. It was pretty good. We ordered the fish with congee which is basically an Asian porridge. The fish congee here is nice because they actually use real steam fish and cut up some pieces of that to put that into the porridge. Then they give you a side of the fish that they didn’t use so you get the hang for your buck since you know they don’t gip you on the fish! I got the fish with eggs which is a more Americanized breakfast. They use sole filet fish and is wasn’t bad. Just kind of salty but they did cook the eggs well. Comes with toast and chicken macaroni soup too. All breakfast items come with a free hot drink either coffee or tea or you can pay a bit more for cold drinks. All dishes from breakfast come with extra side dishes too so the food here is super worth the price. Breakfast ends at 11am so be sure to come early!

Chinese restaurants mostly don’t have great service, but the waiters here are just rude. I came here with a party of nine, and when we were ready to order, we tried to wave down multiple waiters, but they blatantly ignored us even though they were clearly looking in our direction. I would think that it’s kinda hard to overlook such a big table of people… Food was okay, it’s supposed to be HK style, but if you like quantity over quality, then this is your place. Portions are huge, but taste and quality are lacking. I’ve tried the beef brisket noodle soup, and they have pretty good noodles but the beef was too tough. I’ve also tried the baked pork chop with spaghetti, which was spaghetti with some red sauce on it which tasted like ketchup, along with some cheese and pork chop. This pork chop wasn’t overly chewy but didn’t have much meat taste either(they probably prepared it in baking soda or something). Also, I was looking forward to eating a pineapple bun with butter, but was so disappointed since it tasted like it was three days old and then toasted. I could probably throw it at someone, and it would hurt. Do not order!

I’ve been to this place twice and decided it’s worth 1.5 stars. As you walk into the patio to get to the door, you will be welcomed by a cloud of cigarette smoke. You cannot avoid it if you want to get inside. SO if you are with children, make sure you bring a mask. Onto the food… Lets just say that the food is just mediocre. It’s nothing special and I am glad that it is edible. This place would not really be considered a bistro but more like a café. I gave it a couple stars for being open late night and for the variety of food they serve. Would I come back? not by choice…
