NTB – National Tire & Battery

I can’t speak to the quality of their work as they turned down my business. I went in to replace two tires after being told by the dealer that my tires were bald on the inside. I didn’t have the work done that day because we were more bing and needed to manage cash flow.
So today I went in and talked to Greg at NTB and he checked out the tires while writing up my ticket. I hadn’t checked them in regionally since I wasn’t having the work done but sure enough, all the tires had good tread.
They could have easily tried to rip me off like the last place but they did the right thing and encouraged me to see them for my next oil change which I will.

Let me start by saying that I prefer to give praise over criticism. Having said that… this store is an absolute s**t show. The customer service is non-​existent.
I walked in without an appointment hoping to have them look at an urgent problem I was having with my tire. I stood in the lobby with another customer waiting to be helped for over 5 minutes. There were employees running around. They never spoke to or acknowledged us. I was told there would be a bit of wait and I completely understood, as I was a walk-​in.
An hour and 15 minutes later, they pulled my car into the dock. It sat on a hoist for another 30 minutes until someone started looking at it. The gentleman brought me back and showed me the problem. I decided to have a couple of tires replaced and asked for a quote. I was given a VERY confusing estimate that had several pages with cost breakdowns for different things, but no total. They tried to sell me a ridiculously overpriced protection package. They only offered a price on one tire brand. I agreed to the work and sat down to wait for them to finish. They took the tires off immediately. 45 minutes later, I saw that my car still had no tires.
An employee (not sure of his name-​no name tag) saw that I was slightly perturbed and told me he’d check to see how long. They had my car to me 10 minutes later.
I paid and left. As I was driving down the road, I heard an unfamiliar sound coming from my back tire.
I turned back around and had to wait another 10 minutes before someone acknowledged my presence. A guy took the car and without telling me anything, tightened my lugnuts. That seemed to do it. They sent me away with loose lugnuts.
While I was waiting, a man came in and stood in the lobby for 15 minutes without any help. He actually had to call the store in order to get someone to help him. People were running around smoking cigarettes in the garage, which is totally unprofessional.
I got home and told my husband how much I spent and he told me that I got taken. I looked on the Discount Tire website and could get 2 of the same tires for almost $ 60 cheaper.
I was there for over 3 hours.
The management at this store needs to be overhauled. Never again.
Discount Tire is the place to go.

I dropped by with 4 other people driving it at almost the same time. They still managed to get my car diagnosed, battery changed and out of the door in 30 mins. In addition, they were giving good advice on how to maintain the car and not just trying to sell stuff. Will definitely be back for regular oil changes now.

I went in for an oil change that I had scheduled online and stood in the lobby waiting to be helped. It was cold because some guys were spray painting the ceiling in the lobby and the front door was open. It was 44º outside. Just an idea, but maybe do that when you are not open for business? Just saying…
Anyway, I figured that before I passed out from paint fumes I should see if anyone was there that might help me. I walked into the bay area and yelled «Hello» and two guys walked over. I said that I was there for my oil change and the one guy asks «Are you dropping it off?»
«No» I said.
He tells me, «You’re looking at one and a half to two hours.»
I replied. «I have an appointment.»
He says «Oh?» and glances at some folders, not actually reading them and then tells me, «You are still looking at an hour or more.»
At this point I weigh my options:
1. Sit in the cold, paint fume filled, stark lobby, for an «hour or more» and then give my money to these jokers.
2. Not do that.
I opt for #2 and say, «No thanks, I’ll have it done somewhere else».
They say nothing. I leave.

Customer service is absolutely the worst! Went to get an oil change at 11 & was told the wait was 2 hours, so I came back at 1:00 & dropped the car off. I called at 4 to say I was coming to pick it up and they told me it would be 45 more minutes. I got there at 4:30 & they still had not even taken my car back. 5 ½ hours for an oil change??? Absolutely ridiculous. And the guy didn’t offer to do anything o make it right, just handed me my keys back. Not sure how they stay in business with customer service that poor.

I was in desperate need of new tires unexpectedly, and happened to be on my way to church in Alpharetta so I stopped by NTB. My car is a 13 year old grandpa who is really young at heart but is realizing that his body isn’t as put together as it could be.
The story is I was getting my oil change and air filter replaced at a shop in Buford (family friend), but he discovered that there was a huge nail sticking out the side of my back tire. Since I trust Asians on service but not necessarily product, I went to NTB. Praise the Lord my tire didn’t bust between the commute from Buford to Alpharetta.
Anyway, Michael was the store manager on duty and there was one other person in front of me. It took a while for him to help her out, but 15 minutes later of awkwardly standing at the counter (there are no seats), he came back to help. At this point I was semi-​impatient, but once he started talking, I felt much more at ease.
Michael will access the situation and put together a bunch of combinations of products and prices and recommend what he thinks would be the best bang for your buck. This is great knowing that here’s a sales guy not necessarily trying to sell me the highest end product, but trying to keep me safe on the road without draining my bank account.
Four score and seven years later (Michael really knows how to talk), I finally made it out of the shop with 4 new tires and brake pads. The drive home was really great and I could feel the difference. However, there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done on this car before I hand it down to my sibling, but I know that I would feel really comfortable bringing it back to NTB in Alpharetta even if it means waiting longer for Michael to stop talking :)

Dave, the service manager, has an anger problem. He was SO mean to his employees that it shocked me. I couldn’t believe I was sitting there, feeling helpless, watching him «abuse» them. I never write reviews, but had to put it out there that this NTB is a typical car shop that over charges and treats women like they are stupid. It was truly unbelievable to watch Dave work… incredibly mean. Should have known the minute he didn’t even look at me while saying «You gotta hold on a minute, I’m busy.» Surprised the store still has employees and customers. Poor things.
