Ink & Bean Coffee Saloon and Wordshop

I dont live nearby but i found this place on Unilocal and thought itd be nice to try out when i am in the area. The promenade itself is a nice place to walk down… but this place was Nothing special to me… the shop is a cute little shop with old type writers and a couple of desks. Asked barista for recommendations but he was not enthusiastic so I settled for a plain ice latte. Got a scone to go along with — it was really sweet — ate one bite and noticed a blonde hair… eh

I would usually not associate coffee with Orange County, but this place does amazing coffee! About 10 mins drive from Disneyland in downtown Anaheim, the shop has an old western fee to it and a great atmosphere. The coffee is the highlight here, though… but free wifi and great service are also bonuses!

Ink goes a little overboard on the print-​related flotsam and jetsam decorations, but the superb coffee and calm setting will make you forget about all that.
Ink opens at 7:30 AM, which seems late for a coffee house, but that’s when the neighborhood starts to wake up. You gotta know your customers. Once inside, you should take note of the black La Marzocco. Ah, beauty. The Sophia Loren of espresso machines. Hand made in Florence Italy, and world class craftsmanship. For my gold standard, I like doppio espresso in Italian ceramic warmed atop Sophia. Indulgence has a name.

Best coffee in town! I visit ink n bean multiple times a day (yes I have a problem). Mitch and the rest of the staff are very friendly. I never wait more then 5 – 7 mins for my coffee to be ready. They also have bagels on the go. What isn’t there love?! Try an iced lavender vanilla latte, and tell them Alyssa sent sent you.
I’d give more stars if I could.

Came across this place after eating lunch. Had decent reviews so I decided to give this place a try.
This café is definitely trendy and had a certain charm to it. They had a small area inside but they also have outdoor seating where other patrons can converse or hang out.
Coffee was okay. Their beans are not single origin and from what I was told, it was more of a regional blend. From an avid coffee drinker’s point of view, the coffee didn’t really have that wow factor. Decent at best. Also even though you get the coffee to drink at their location, it still comes in a paper cup which I wasn’t a fan of.
They also have other merchandise with their branding on it. Great concept on said items.
Overall I give their coffee 3 stars but overall package is 4 to be fair.

What a unique coffee haven for fans of coffee, tea, and the written word! (Don’t fret if you’re one who enjoys a little bit of alcohol — boozy options are available on the menu too).
The shop is in a prime location: in the heart of downtown Anaheim along Center Street Promenade. The entrance is welcoming to passerbys with its huge calligraphy sign and rustic outer décor.
Once inside, the space is small, but the design makes great use of the little space there is. Old typewriters line one wall, books hang from the ceiling light fixtures, and a variety of notebooks, mugs, and pencils are for sale. I spent most of my time just exploring before I even ordered.
The menu isn’t extensive but the drinks are well-​made. I decided on a lavender vanilla latte and was really pleased with what I got. The coffee is fresh and the flavors of the latte worked together nicely. There was a good balance of sweet and bitter that was spot on as well (I’ve had my fair share of really bitter and really sweet lattes at other establishments). I did eye some tasty-​looking pastries too, but didn’t get a chance to try them. The barista was friendly and I enjoyed the conversation while I waited for my drink.
They even have a free library outside on the front deck that you can peruse while sipping your cup. Definitely a great place to check out if you’re in the area and need a caffeine fix or inspiration to write.

Oh man… I believe too many of my friends hyped this place up too much for me.
Interior was very trendy and hip. I loved the idea of books floating from the ceiling, the dark wood wall with bright lights, and having a shelf full of books and souvenirs. The owner actually owns the barber shop and clothing store next door so I thought it was pretty neat bringing that barber shop type of atmosphere to the coffee shop (especially the entrance doors). Additionally, they have a small porch outside with a book stand in a wagon, which was very creative.
Their coffee is from Stumptown and they have nitro cold brew and regular cold brew both on tap, which was so awesome. It was really hot and I wanted to get something refreshing so I decided to go with the 16 oz. cold brew. It was pretty pricey ($ 4.50), and you can get Stumptown coffee at other cafes for cheaper, but regardless, the drink still tasted amazing here. The drink had a chocolate type of flavor and it was very smooth.
Although the interior and exterior were nice, I had a hard time just wanting to sit down and admire everything around me. There was literally one table in the shop and it was taken so I had to step outside. However, all the seatings were taken outside as well so I had to awkwardly drink my coffee inside standing up until I just decided to go back home. Parking is also limited with 90 minutes free street parking and 2 hours free parking in the parking structure if validated. Wifi is free which is great but no point if we can’t really study or chill inside.
Overall, I really enjoyed the coffee, but I personally believe its not the best place to come to chill, study, or hang out with friends.

This coffee shop is unique unto itself. When my friend was taking me here, the first thing I noticed was the faded doors, welcoming me into the place.
Looking up I noticed books hanging from the ceiling. Add in an interesting assortment of old typewriters and other unique items, and I was very impressed.
The coffee itself is essentially like any other place. Nothing that really stood out to me.
However the place is inviting (atmosphere) and definitely would love to be brought here again.

I came here on a hot and sunny Wednesday afternoon with some classmates to study during our spring break. Parking was relatively easy as there are multiple parking garages nearby in this plaza that are good for 2 hours.
This place has a chill hipster vibe with friendly staff. The music selection played here is definitely indie. I heard Iron & Wine, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, and Explosions in the Sky just to name a few, so I would definitely check it out if you’re into the indie music scene.
I only ordered their orange juice, which tasted very standard, no complaints there. I saw a multitude of organic dark chocolate options, muffins, scones, bagels, tea, and coffee selections on the menu. If I come back, I want to try their beer and wine which they surprisingly sell here.
The books hanging from the ceiling remind me of Alice in Wonderland, which is a big plus. There is also outside seating with tables and benches to relax and have a drink, read, or study that would be perfect for any given warm, sunny day. I sat inside because it was a little too hot to study outside, but I’m glad I did because it definitely felt nice with the air conditioning.

I love the décor; it would make anyone happy. I really like the books available to read and the fact that you can buy all sorts of stuff found in the display. Yet I could care less for the drink I ordered: the seasonal Earl Gray Vanilla Latte. It didn’t taste like anything except bland tea with a splash of milk. There was nothing special about it and it definitely didn’t amaze me. I don’t know if this is because I just ordered the wrong drink, but I expect seasonal drinks to be special since they’re only available for a limited time. My SO thinks the baurista just didn’t steep the tea long enough… Ah well, I don’t know.
I think I’ll give them another shot and try their coffee next time since they are a coffee shop. Maybe it was just my drink or maybe I just came in at the wrong time.

I need coffee. Thats an understatement. I drink a cup every morning and have done so for the past 9 years now. Coffee plays a very important role in my life. Lol its not that serious but yeah I really enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning.
Ink and Bean is a great coffee spot. I like how they keep their menu very minimal and don’t try to over do things. Right when I walked up I saw the Proudly Serving Stumptown sign and I knew I was going to like it. You cant really make a bad latte with Stumptown beans. the coffee itself is great. I got a vanilla latte less sweetened and it was exactly how I wanted it. Not too sweet, creamy, mellow, but still strong.
They have a nice patio you can sit outside and relax in. Theres a little metal RV with books that you can read. I would come back since its not too far from my house and they serve Stumptown one of my favorite coffee roasters.

Quaint, rustic saloon-​style café with your basic options for a cup of joe and a little more. Their option of an earl grey latte seduced me into their streetside café, and it’s not bad! If you have tried coffee bean’s earl grey, I’d say I&B’s earl grey spin is a little more watery since the barista uses loose leaf tea. I actually did not enjoy the watered down taste at first, and since I ordered a 16oz ($ 4.50), I really wanted to enjoy the rest of it. So, I reluctantly asked the barista if he could adjust it, and he graciously did! I was surprised that I wasn’t met with mutual reluctance. He used double the amount of tea which I appreciated so so much. Prices are fair. Nothing that will break the bank like the new Coffee Nature and Starbucks and such.
Street parking for a free 90 minutes and parking lot spots for a free 2 hours are available.

Another one of my favorite little downtown Anaheim gems! Ink & Bean is hands down great. It’s a local coffee shop that supports it’s community and delivers some serious caffeine. My work just started partnering with them more and we couldn’t be happier with the results. They all rock!

Hello my old friend Ink and Bean. Its been two years since my last visit from afar in the Land of Oz (literally), but I remembered your perfectly crafted espresso drinks and the warmth of your embrace far from (2+ miles) the land of too many lilly white Disney princesses next door to the giant Anaheim Convention Center which delivered me to your door.
The Stumptown espresso this morning was quite possibly the best single espresso I can ever remember consuming. Maybe the stars were aligned just right, maybe it was «la prima tazza» effect, or maybe you’re just that damn good. I suspect the latter.
What I didn’t know is on my last visit you were newly opened. Well, don’t go anywhere because I’ll likely be back tomorrow, and again next year for this crazy convention that brings me here annually. This my friends, is what great coffee is all about. I rest my case.

It’s probably one of the coolest café’s I’ve ever been in. There’s a whole writing theme going on. They have a cool «restricted» menu with drinks named after famous writers.
I tried a cappuccino. While the capp was a little bitter and could have been better, it was actually still pretty good. I love Stumptown, which is what they use. No latte art at all. Service was friendly, but fairly slow and inefficient, so the wait was pretty long. Could be barista dependent.
The inside is pretty small, but they have outdoor seating too. I’d probably go to Cafecito Organico in the Packing District instead, for quality coffee.

This coffee shop is amazingly hipster — but I love it.
It’s a pretty small space with a bar table + 3 seats facing the street, one 4 person communal table in the middle, and ~4 seats on the side. I guess you could study here if you really wanted to (free wifi available), but I’d feel kind of cramped in. There’s also a couple of small tables in the little deck outside the main shop — right next to an Airstream RV trailer that got converted into a «take a book, leave a book» library. The décor was comprised of typewriters, newspapers, and shelves of books (hence the «Wordshop» part of the name). Oh, it’s also connected to a saloon next door. Like I said: a true hipster’s paradise!
The coffee was alright — the Americano I got tasted like a light roast and I thought there was a little too much water for espresso content. My boyfriend’s vanilla latte wasn’t bad. It was sweet but very creamy and satisfied our latte craving.
I’d come back here to people watch!

AMBIANCE– Think nouveau hipster, a modern twist on vintage. I’m talking black typewriters, paperweights that look like crinkled legal pad paper, and old paperback books. It’s a very cute and quaint coffee shop and an appropriate place to read the morning paper on a weekend morning.
DRINKS– I’m impartial to earl grey desserts and latte, so I naturally ordered the hot earl grey crème latte. Unfortunately, it tasted more like watered down earl grey tea than latte. Next time I should probably stick to the peppermint dark chocolate, but I feared that would be too minty.
VERDICT– I enjoy new neighborhood finds, especially if it supports small businesses… but sometimes I find that the big corporations do me no wrong. They are consistent and they always get what I like. Small businesses are very hit or miss. In short, great ambiance. Drinks are meh.

If you’re glutton for books, this is where you feel as snug as a bug in a rug. Come here to read, write, catch up with a friend or simply be.
The saloon is pretty hip with fancy decorations such as antique typewriters and fluttering books (look up) underlining the wordshop theme. It’s very small only centering a solid desk and four chairs (which look like they belong to a heirloom collection) and providing a few seatings at the corner and windows. They have power outlets under the desk and at the wall in case your laptop runs out of juice. If all spots are taken, there is also a cozy patio with outdoor seatings and a little trailer modded as a «free» library. I totally like the idea of «take a book, leave a book».
A true hipster coffee shop serves true hipster beans from Stumptown (well actually they belong to Peet’s nowadays), so expect the same reliable and consistent quality. If you have enough of caffeine (while working on your book), they also serve beer and wine as well (might help your creative writing skill). In terms of food, they offer bagel, muffin and quiche which was very delicious. I wish they have more pastries though.
The staff is friendly and fast, the coffee is great, the ambiance is nice: I’m a big fan of this wordshop!
Tip: If you love live music, swing by on a weekend morning and support local musicians on the parklet.

What a cool coffee shop! I love the décor of this shop and the outdoor seating is so cute. They have their own little patio with a trailer where you can take a book, if you leave one.
They had seasonal pumpkin specials and I had to order one. I got the pumpkin chai that was delicious. It was a little sweet, but I loved all the cinnamon goodness with each sip. I also got a pumpkin bread that was okay, but really moist.
It’s a great place to sit and hang out with a friend. And if you’re looking for something to read, bring a book and add to the library.

This place is really quaint! It has a very hipster vibe to it. It’s a mall shop but it’s a great place to study or meet up with some friends. The area that this is in is perfect. It has an up and coming vibe with a lot of cool places around it!
The service was great! The gentleman that helped me was really kind and tentative. I ordered a hot vanilla latte. It was suuuuper delicious and he even drew coffee art on it! I was just looking to kill time before going to a concert and this place was perfect to do it at. I will definitely be back when I have more than a few minutes to spare :)
