Steve never returns phone calls. I have calls three times and driven all the way to Antioch to find no one there.

If you drive a saab, call Steve. The man knows his stuff. The first time I called him, he came to me where I live since my car wasn’t running properly. He got in an accident on his way here, called me and told me he would be a couple of hours. Sure enough he came by at night and took a look at my car in the pouring rain. He told me what was wrong and what to do. Didn’t charge me much and told me a lot about my car. Today, I called him because something else was acting up. I got it fixed but he still came out and took a look. Didn’t charge me anything. I will be using Steve for anything else my old 89 has wrong with it. Highly recommend him!

Steve saved my bacon!
I drove to San Francisco for a convention, my Saab 9 – 3 packed full of stuff, planning to head to Denver next for another show, and my A/​C went out just as I was rolling into town. I had just two days to get the car fixed before I made the two-​day drive to Denver, but the car completely died while I was driving around the East Bay trying to find a shop that would fix it.
I left a message for Steve, then he called me back and came right to me (stranded in a parking lot). He got the car working enough for me to drive it back to his place to work on it more extensively.
He sourced a new air compressor at a low cost, had reasonable rates for labor, and turned the job around with more than enough time for me to test drive it around town a bit before heading East.
I drove it to Denver over the next two days, packed to the ceiling with heavy stuff, and it purred like a kitten. Made the long haul back to Seattle without a hitch, as well.
What could have been a real catastrophe was averted and I was able to get on with my trip without any stress. The car was returned washed (a treat after its being pelted with bugs on the highway) and I even noticed later, while driving through a rainstorm, that he’d RainX-​ed the windshield.
Can’t recommend Steve enough to work on your Saab, especially since finding decent garages that will repair them is getting difficult. Thanks, Steve!

I’m not sure where to begin, because there are just too many darn good, no, excellent, no, stupendous things to say about him and his work. You won’t find quick talking hustle and jive here. Just a totally old school mechanic who was been working on cars and especially Saabs over 30years. He has slown down over the years it appears with bad knees, but not to worry as he knows cars in and out, has all the tools on his mobile work truck, and does not charge you in the traditional time sense. He will quote you a flat rate cost, which I can assure you will be most likely half of what you will pay at a regular shop. He then takes his time and does the job right.
After my Saab repair of my convertible roof, he did significant work on my Lotus which for many mechanics can be a royal PITA. He figured out the car, got both my windows working, cv boots, radiator fans, got my headlights popping up again, changed coolant hoses. All in all, I would have spent 4 times what I paid for his work at my former mechanic.
He does mobile work and comes to your home or work, is on time and just a great guy to talk shop with. For larger jobs he works out of place in either Castro Valley or Antioch.
I just picked up my car today having used it last week in the rain on a trip to Santa Cruz. I had planned to wash and wax it after picking it up from Steve, but lo and behold, he had washed it, waxed it, vacuumed the inside and the top, and had fixed a bunch of little other things free of charge.
I cannot make a higher recommendation for an auto mechanic than Steve.
