I specialize in Mercedes-​Benz Performance, Service, Collision Work and Repair.

Having had a long hard fight with the city of Emeryville in regards to licensing I am no longer located on Watts, near PIXAR.

I am back to Mercedes Benz Only maintenance and repair, but I still offer minor repairs, brake service and high performance upgrades for AUDI, BMW, Bentley, Ferrari, and Porsche.

Back to my humble beginnings on 81st Ave, my shop is small but I still make it work. I am mobile again, but mainly for diagnostics and light repairs.

Now installing Plasti-​Dip for the Gen-X’rs :)

At this time I am unable to work with your aftermarket warranty company but will be back in that arena soon.

I still want you to be a client throughout your vehicle ownership — not just for one visit.

History

Established in 2004.

In early 2004, The Workshop Mercedes Benz was created by a former Mercedes Benz technician. While working at a local dealership, he decided that the most important points to his company (The Workshop MB) would be, Honesty, Integrity, Trust, Reliability and Convenience

Servicing your Mercedes with The Workshop MB, gives you the satisfaction of knowing that those who work on it have met Mercedes Benz exacting standards of competence and efficiency. We keep abreast of product developments, and will accurately assess your service needs, and use only approved quality parts.

To meet the demand of our clients, we have added the following vehicles to our service line up: Porsche, AUDI, BMW, Maserati/​Ferrari and Bentley.

Business Owner

Well, as a shop foreman at Corporate Motors in Hayward, Ca in early 2002, Michael decided to end his career with one vehicle. As a foreman, he was responsible for 8 technicians, working on virtually every make and model of vehicle. It was there at Corporate Motors where he decided to make Mercedes-​Benz his car of choice.

Leaving there, he ventured to Mercedes Benz of Pleasanton, obtained the proper training and in late 2005, The Workshop MB was established. Michael’s passion for automotive repair started when he was 11 years old, replacing his first transmission on a 1956 ford truck.

He has a passion not only for the Mercedes-​Benz brand, but for the owners that drive them. His friendly nature and easy going personality make for a pleasurable expereince when talking with clients about their vehicles.

Michael enjoys reading, wathcing action movies, singing in his church choir, running and working out, as well as repairing and servicing Mercedes-​Benz vehicles…

Really inconsistent service and non-​flexible hours. Shawn messed up my brother’s fuel gage. Contrary to all the good reviews, we had a different experience. Be cautious.

I agree with the majority… Shawn is awesome! He hooked my Benz up with the work it needed (and nothing more) at a price that was a drastic departure from any other shop. For the price to look at my Benz, I was able to pay a few bucks more and just get the job done. Awesome! I wanted to get a Beamer next, but I may stick with Benz’s just because of his work ethic and expertise! Unbelievable! I will definitely return!

Shawn is the best. I was given an old Mercedes (1989) and was curious to know what might need fixed, and Shawn took the time to ask what I wanted the car for and base his recommendations around my intended use. In the end I didn’t need anything immediately repaired and he didn’t push anything on me, which was amazing. In subsequent dealing he was similarly fair, honest, and responsive. What more could you want in a mechanic besides someone who really knows his cars (he could answer any question) and who has integrity?

Shawn is THE best mechanic I have ever had. He saved me from a hefty bill that the MB dealership was going to charge me. I wouldn’t go to anyone else but him and I really am hoping that he does very well in his business so I can continue taking my car there. He is professional, honest and always accommodating. Just can’t say enough about this guy and the service that he provides! If you would like someone who takes a good care of your car and won’t rip you off, he is your guy!

Shawn has been servicing my car for several years, going back to when he was mobile only. It was really great to have him roll up and service the car in my driveway! After comparing his prices, quality and attitude to the MB dealer in Oakland, there is just no comparison. I also tried a couple of non-​dealer places in Oakland, and felt they were just ripoff artists. I really trust Shawn to do the right thing and charge me a fair price.
Too bad the Emeryville location didn’t workout (problems with permits from the city), but at least the Oakland location is near BART.
Also, Shawn said he’s looking to start the mobile repairs up again.

Shawn took my 1986 560 sl in, figured out what was draining the battery (a complicated task), fixed the wiring and the problem and charged an very very fair price. He also detailed the car very nicely for another fair price. He’s been a dream to deal with. I’m going to buy a newer Mercedes. I’ll take it to him.

Shawn and his team is simply the best. We wouldn’t consider taking our MB anywhere else and have been thoroughly pleased with the level of service and attention we’ve received. He’s affordable, thorough and honest with his advice. After some less-​than-​stellar experiences at the SF dealership, we’ll never go back. It’s totally worth the trip over the bridge from SF!

Shawn is an excellent mechanic and is completely honest, very fair, and extremely professional. I brought my 2005 SL65 AMG in on the advice of the former owner and friend of mine. Shawn saved me «a bunch of money»! compared to what the Mercedes dealership in San Francisco was going to charge me. He has definitely won me over as a new customer and I will never take my car to any other repair shops. I highly recommend The Workshop MB!

I had my first experience with The Workshop MB today and I was very pleased. I needed a service C on my 2007 S550 and Shawn helped me do what was needed, without wasting money on unneccessary work. I paid about $ 180 at The Workshop, whereas the dealer quoted me at least $ 365 for a service C. If my next experience with this place is the same or better, I will have to upgrade them to 5 stars.

Shawn has been my Benz specialist from the first day of purchase, and has kept it running like a dream. I have referred many of my friends to him and will continue. He is honest, and affordable (as you can be with a Mercedes :-)). He always completely explains the problem (if there is one), the service needed, and the process to me and delivers my car in a timely manner. He has even came out to my home which was a «wow» service because I was unable to move my car.
Also, he is not offended if you need to use other means (cheaper, non-​certified mechanics)…but you’ll most likely have to return to him to fix the original problem plus some later after dealing with the dishonest backyard «specialist»… (I know this from experience lol!)
The Workshop has my two thumbs up!

He moved, but man this new place is waaaay better than the oakland location. Driveway is nice and flat. The space is bright and inviting, and there is tons of space. Once he is finished renovating this place is gonna be awesome.

Shawn does a great job, he makes sure every service comes with a car wash. He spent alot of extra time explaining to me what was needed. I did some shopping around and found his prices were more then fair. Overall experience was much better then the dealer. I will definitely be returning.

Unfortunately, a terrible first experience with this shop.
I took my car in for a service because my dealer was booked and this shop was local to one of my offices. When I picked up my vehicle, there were several issues. There was a scratch on one of the rear panels, I found a bag of McDonalds in the back and my floor mats were dirty. When I inquired about the technician that was working on my vehicle, I found out that the gentleman was neither certified or experienced with Mercedes-​Benz. I will never come back, then to top it all I was charged $ 153 more than what I was quoted!

Shawn and the Workshop MB are great. They are very professional, and reliable. They have helped me keep my 98 C230 in good shape, even after 200K miles. The mobile service is so convenient. I think what I like the most about this business is that, Shawn is an honest mechanic and is willing to explain the information to you, so you fully understand what’s wrong with your car, and the estimated costs to fix it. Keep up the great work!
