One Love Lounge

I have been looking for Caribbean food that’s close by for a while now… Elaine’s is too far and I have never tried Jamaica Gates… My jerk chicken guy in GP closed his shop and since then I have been having withdrawals… Even though I cook Caribbean food at home. Sometimes you just feel for the taste of «someone else’s hand «…And I must say the food at One love lounge is on point … The jerk chicken is the best… It’s spicy (for those who can’t handle pepper) …But we island folks can handle the spice… so it was all good … The rice & peas was good too and the fried plantains are just like how my Dad makes them… the Curry Goat was on point… not every cook can make a soft and not chewy goat … And this chef definitely has it down. The meat was perfect. Not chewy at all… the dhalpuri Roti was soft and melted in my mouth. It brought tears to my eyes cause I didn’t have to make Roti myself for once … This place is a hidden gem … They have only been open for a few months … And I hope they stay open … I def will be a recurring customer … The cow foot (heel) soup was sooo good… The meat was like butter and the flavor was excellent… it’s been years since I had a cow heel soup. They also have lunch specials … The building looks like a club as it’s also a bar /​lounge… and may look closed from the outside… But go in and you won’t be disappointed with the food.

Good but no people when I get there (it’s 8pm weekday). May be it will be full in night times or in weekends.

The Jerk chicken tacos are a healthy tasty choice! Highly recommended!

Best JERK CHICKEN EVER. If you LOVE Jerk Chicken like I do. I believe you will love this place. I’ve found a new carribean restaurant home.

I do believe that this place has potential, but on the night I went they greatly missed the mark on the food. I chose not to even upload a picture of my plate it looked so sad. I ordered a jerk pork plate with steamed vegetables & plantains. My plantains were scorched badly, the steamed vegetables turned out to be cabbage and the jerk pork tasted like scorched bbq that had been frozen and reheated. They were out of all other sides to even trade the sides out. BUT the rum punch was AWESOME!!! Hence the reason for the 2 stars instead of 1. Maybe their cook was off tonight, I try to give places more than one chance before I write them off. It just puzzles me that they are right across the street from a well established Carribean restaurant and don’t have more pride in their food to even attempt to compete with the other business.

Came here for lunch since I work down the street. Got the curry chicken, veggie rice, cabbage + peppa sauce (hot sauce). The music, food, vibes, service, everything was great. Talked to the owner for a bit he grew up in Guyana which is a culture I was a part of for many years (my kids are half). Good times great food and looking forward to coming back for their Sunday brunch with live jazz band. Also Fri and Sat he mentioned a DJ so nice new spot to come wine it up when I’m in the mood to listen to Caribbean music and get my dance on. Thanks One Love Lounge!
