Gigi’s Cupcakes of Buckhead, Atlanta

I just had the most delightful cupcake I have ever eaten. It was gluten free, and called «Triple Chocolate Torte». The shop was real cute and the people who worked there seemed pretty engaged and were helpful. Thank you for making such a delicious treat, made my day.

I stopped in after lunch with some co workers, and couldn’t have been happier with the whole experience. The shop was clean and well kept, and the two ladies behind the desk were nice, personable, and answered all of our questions. I chose the strawberry princess cupcake and loved it. The cupcake was sweet and the frosting was the perfect consistency. I will definitely return in the future!

I’m surprised by the bad reviews. I’ve never had issues here. Being gluten free (whomp whomp) I really appreciate their gf options and they often have more than just one gf option daily which is like unheard of! The gf cupcakes are crazy moist and taste like real, normal cupcakes. The chocolate salted caramel is f’ing heaven. The price is a little high, but that’s kind of par for the course with these boutique cupcake joints.

Very dissapointed. Will definitely NEVER be back. The girl I encountered, also the «manager» wasted 6 minutes of my time. When coming to check out, I pulled out my ID showing her that it is my BIRTHDAY!!! ³⁄₁₀!!! She proceeds to tell me that «their rewards system was down» So basically I was not permitted to get my FREE BIRTHDAY CUPCAKE!!! I was flabbergasted. I said to her, «So, am I getting my birthday cupcake or not?» She said that if I wanted a cupcake, I would have to PAY FOR IT!!! And once their rewards system was back up, which she said would be an estimated 4 – 6 weeks. Then I could get my free bday cupcake… Ma’am the whole point in a BIRTHDAY CUPCAKE is to get the CUPCAKE ON YOUR BIRTHDAY!!! DUH DUMMY! Anywho. I will NEVER BE BACK TO THIS LOCATION! I really wish I had gotten this persons name!.REGARDLESS if you’re ever in BUCKHEAD, STEER CLEAR OF THIS GIGI’S CUPCAKE LOCATION, and instead GO TO SPRINKLES Cupcakes at LENOX!!! 1 STAR is thr lowest I could give. I wish Unilocal has a N/​A or ZERO Star option! Anywho, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

We called GiGi’s around 10am to see if we could have a wedding cake made by that evening. (Don’t ask) They were extremely nice, went above and beyond to have 2 dozen cupcakes and a cake layer (for the bride and groom to keep for their anniversary) made into a perfect wedding cake. We were going to pick up but had another last minute change– they delivered and set up at the Capital Grille very last minute. The cupcakes were amazing and the customer service made the whole day much less stressful. Thank you thank you!

First I want to say business owners will never please everyone. I’m one myself. Therefore, I know how tough it can be to deal with the public.
Now on to my review. I didn’t want to leave a review until I read a few others. The first complaint that stands out the most is the icing. I’d like to say it is a cupcake boutique. If they didn’t offer mounds of icing then the complaint would be they aren’t any better than the cupcakes mass produced for the grocery stores. Go get a mass produced cupcake!
The cup cakes are delicious. Especially the bourbon cupcake! It is filled with nuts and chocolate morsels and it taste like there is coconut in it as well, but I’m not sure. The icing taste like home made. Its certainly doesn’t have that red dye taste. Yuk! Yes it is a lot of icing but I love it! It also looks great esthetically. When I am not in the mood for all of the icing, I scrap some of it off. However, the bourdon cupcake was devoured with a fork, including the icing.
The staff is always friendly. The only thing I hate is I didn’t get my card stamped.

So I went in earlier in the week and got a box of 6. In that we’re banana cream pie (2) in which one had long hair in it that appeared to be purple or pink. It was a couple hours later when I noticed it and immediately called to let them know. The lady apologized and took my information. She said to let them know the next time I was in and they wanted to make it right.
Well, here’s where the positive goes to horrible…
Today I went back in with my boys and was greeted ok. Then I explained to the young girl my scenario and quickly popped out a young girl and abruptly asked me «what was your issue?» I again explained and she drilled me wiling 20 questions. They went to the back and she then came back to the front with more questions. She returned a second time with a sticky and ask for my info. She said they wanted to inquire and get back with me. So I left without a problem from trip one not being corrected on visit two and she has some bright Indra that I would even remotely consider a third trip.
I cannot tell you what horrible customer service and attitude. I guess the cost of a few cupcakes is more precious than customer service. Out of the many Gigi’s I’ve visited this one always has the most horrific customer service.

Are the worst cupcakes I have eaten in my life! The icing was horrible, the cake was bland like eating a flavorless biscuit, and they are pricey. My friend had some sort of coupon where we got them at a discount. She bought me some because she’s a good friend and wanted me to try them out. She purchased me 8 cupcakes. They all sucked, I had to beg my 3 year old and 4 year old to eat it after they took 1 bite and shoved it away, you know that’s bad when a child doesn’t want sweets! Now if I had given them piece of cake or small cakes, even those greasy ass flavorless cami cakes they would’ve devoured them. Smh I wouldn’t take another a cupcake from here for free. The customer service was good, the restaurant was tidy, getting in and out of there is a pain but where isn’t it in atlanta? My dude is a complete cupcake snob and even he turned his nose up at gigi’s.

Wow, I really hate to give Gigi’s 2 stars because I had high hopes with this one. But, I have to and here’s why… have you ever been tricked, faked out, bamboozled, led astray? Well, that is what happened to me with Gigi’s. First, you should know that I only became a fan of cupcakes some years back. Prior to that, my memory of cupcakes were sugary, mass produced, mini cakes with sprinkles from the grocery store. Perhaps all those Cupcake War shows of late, opened my eyes to the new, evolved reality of cupcakes. And, I have been amazed, and my taste buds have been tantalized, by the unique and delicious flavors that represent the current cupcake landscape. Where I probably went wrong is by starting with arguably the Best cupcakes anywhere – Baked (Brooklyn, NY), so I suppose my expectations were high.
I made it a goal to find the best cupcakes around ATL. It started with some hype I read somewhere about Gigi’s cupcakes. Then, compounded with the beauty of the cupcakes when I walked into the Gigi’s store. The staff was great and blew me away with the descriptions of the cupcakes, so I purchased one of almost everything! I was absolutely giddy after I left with the eye popping cupcakes, in the gorgeous box, which I bought for my hubby’s birthday, nonetheless. Once I got home and we started tasting the cupcakes… totally downhill and majorly disappointed.
The problems… too much icing, «makes your teeth hurt» sweet, cakes were not moist and the flavor profiles didn’t completely work. Nooooooo… we were both shocked and couldn’t finish any one cupcake :-(. Honestly, the cupcakes weren’t necessarily better than the grocery store IMHO… just much prettier. Now, to be fair, a lot of people seem to like Gigi’s. So, if you’re into extreme icing and sweetness, you might like these. I know my nieces and nephews probably would :-o. However, I was not seeking the overly sweet cupcakes of my youth, but rather the new age cupcakes of my adulthood. And, for the price… not worth it. Won’t be back, but for anyone who hasn’t tried it… you may just want to see where you stand. Happy Eating!

Drove all the way over here to get some cupcakes. Turns out they close 30 minutes before their closing time! Wonderful. Will not be coming here again.

Cupcakes look good and the gluten free seemed to be enjoyed as two were eaten with relish at the dinner party where they were presented (see photo).
All cupcakes are $ 4/​ea and are nicely packaged in a box.

I want to love this place. The staff is always nice and the cupcakes and decent. When I first had these a couple years ago I thought they were the best thing I ever had.
There’s a lot of frosting, it’s really sweet and I used to love it, but now it’s way too much for me. I normally leave some behind. The cupcakes are heavy, I’m assuming because of the heaping of frosting on top. The cake is good but not great. I haven’t had the opportunity to try the cheesecake yet. I love cheesecake so I hope it’s good.
Another plus they have a loyalty rewards program. I think I have received $ 5.00 off before because of this program. I have also received a coupon in my email for a free cupcake for my birthday.
If you are a fan of red velvet don’t come here later in the day. When it gets close to closing the selection is very very limited. You are best to order online if you know you will be there late in the day.

The red velvet cupcake was nasty. I could probably make a better one myself. Do not go to this place. It’s not worth your time.

I love cupcakes! These were incredibly moist and delicious. Perfect size, taste, and freshness. Wish there was more icing– so good I was left wanting more. I got the princess and a pumpkin flavorer one.

Sugar anyone? If you’re like me that sometimes prefer that overly sweet frosting, then Gigi’s is your place. However, if you’re looking for a moist, smooth cake then you will leave disappointed. I have tried the majority of their cupcakes and their frosting is always piled sky-​high but usually sits on top of a somewhat bland, dry cake. It’s not a bad option if you’re in the area and just want something sweet, but don’t expect a high quality dessert.

I tried the chocolate chocolate and Red Velvet. They were both good. The Red Velvet had a cream cheese inside, kinda like the old school hostess chocolate cupcakes, with a sweet frosting on top. I thought they had too much frosting, but thats not a huge issue.

I came here once to get cupcakes for my daughter and a few of her teenage friends.
The girls got chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes. They ate them up and seemed to enjoy them. I did get a gluten free cupcake as well. :) not lots of gf options but over all it was pretty good although the icing was a little too sugary for my liking.

I’ve picked up Gigi’s cupcakes several times for clients and coworkers over the years, but until last weekend I’d resisted temptation and never had one. Honestly I’m a Piece of Cake kind of girl, so these cupcakes always looked like a waste of calories to me.
However, I got a Vegas cupcake for my birthday. The Vegas cupcake is your standard funfetti with sprinkles cupcake, but with a mound of frosting that could easily kill a diabetic, individually packaged in a cute little box. I didn’t have it on my actual birthday, but the morning after celebrating said birthday, let’s just say the Vegas cupcake seemed like a completely logical breakfast choice. Move over Waffle House, Gigi’s Cupcakes to the rescue!
In general, I much prefer the frosting to cake ratio of a traditional slice of cake, but I do have to give Gigi’s major credit for aesthetic appeal and being quite tasty. They’re kind of pricey but make for cute gifts and perhaps the breakfast of birthday princesses.

A friend gave me a single cupcake for my birthday! She chose for me the red velvet flavor. It came in a cute single box, that when opened, you could see just the top of a beautiful cupcake.
Now — I’m not really a cupcake person (ice cream FTW) and have found that lately I am finding many things way too sweet for my taste. Other cupcake places I have tried around town have cupcakes or frosting that is sickeningly sweet to me.
But when I dipped a finger into the MOUND of icing on top of my red velvet cupcake and tasted it, I was impressed! It was just the right amount of sweetness. Also I liked that the red velvet was plain icing on top and not buttercream. The icing also had red sprinkles on top which was fun!
The cupcake itself was excellent. I’m really not a baking expert but it was moist and in a density that I liked.
The only thing was that there was definitely too much icing. I am that person that always scrapes off icing from a cupcake so take this with a grain of salt (or sugar?). Unless I had a fork and knife there was no possible way to get a full bit of cupcake + icing without smashing the icing into my face. So I had to sort of eat the two parts separately and there was just too much of the icing for me to eat, so yeah, I scraped it all off.
But out of all the cupcake places I’ve tried, Gigi’s is the only one I’m actually interested in trying other flavors. I took a trip to their website and would love to taste the salted caramel, wedding cake, candy bar crunch, mojito… they have a bunch of flavors that sound (and look) really great! I would also definitely endorse Gigi’s for gifts, and will definitely stop by the next time I decide to steal my friend’s idea and buy them a cupcake.

I’m a helpless sucker for lots of things: sweets, cupcakes, frosting, friendly customer service and cute packaging… and Gigi’s cupcakes had all of the above.
My trusty Unilocal app led me into the store about an hour before they closed, and based on the pitiful selection, clearly the buckhead sugar fiends had long since beat me to the store. I think there were maybe four selections left, although the woman behind the counter offered to bake up some sort of chocolate midnight cupcake for me and my BFF. Honestly, my need for instant gratification didn’t allow me to really hear what she was saying and I hastily snatched up the last caramel mama something or other which was a smart choice.
The cake itself was moist and flavorful, a mild not too sweet vanilla, filled to nearly the top of the cupcake liner, perfect to offset the nearly four inches of sticky sweet butterscotchy frosting. I die, albeit in a diabetic coma. It’s quite unlike me to leave with only one cupcake, but I couldn’t bring myself to try one of the pretty gluten free options and I didn’t want the pumpkin option, so I will definitely have to make a return trip in the near future for more options. Based on the yumminess though, I will eagerly return!
