Contrary to the name, the food at Spice to Table wasn’t spicy at all nor did it feel very Indian. But it sure was delicious, well balanced, and simple yet complex. I’ll admit I was a little nervous at first. The food all looked to be pre-made and my order must have come out in a matter of minutes. But once I opened the leaf of my Banana Leaf Chicken, I knew I was in for a treat. The chicken melted off the bone and the ginger-pomegranate sauce was magical, reminding me of a milder jerk chicken sauce. The sticky coconut brown rice was also great, although I was hoping for the rice to be a little sticker. But at this point, that’s just me being nitpicky. The frittata-style spiced meat pie was also yummy, and the flavor balance was spot-on without it being too salty, sweet, or spicy. In the wise words of Goldilocks, «just right.» I also had the Roasted Eggplant with Buttermilk Dressing and loved it. I would highly recommend this one even if you aren’t an eggplant lover. The creamy eggplant also came out with flatbread, which paired really well with the eggplant. I finished the meal off with a Curry Chicken Samosa Pocket. It had the fluffy texture of a toaster strudel with a subtly delicious mango sauce. I only wish the curried chicken would have been more«dank.» Spice to table has a very open, cozy, rustic atmosphere and is perfect for a weekday or Saturday lunch. The food was a bit pricy and the portions weren’t very large. But all that can be forgiven because the food was amazing.

I don’t write reviews often, but I was invited to a private event at Spice to Table last night. Ashe served an amazing meal that was so light compared to traditional Indian food. The carrot cake was amazing and I asked for an extra slice to take home to my wife. It was a big hit at home as well. Highly recommend the place. Very nice warm and inviting décor.

Okay, So I came here for lunch and I had the chicken with rice and caramelized onions. It was served in a banana leaf and it was AWESOME! Also had a veggie samosa and it was awesome too! Please go here asap! It was my 1st visit and I can’t wait to go back. I heard that the menu changes often.

The food here is so delicious I can’t recommend it enough. I love the style of the place, and the super casual vibe, even though the food is anything but casual. The flavors are so balanced, rich, and delicious. The chai tea is my favorite I’ve ever had, the beef patties are filling and perfectly spicy, if there’s ever a soup option GETTHESOUP, and the homemade carrot cake is Devine. I love coming here.

Sorry but Mehhhhhhh… Went to the Scout Mob event this past weekend and was served on a plastic tv tray. Remind you this event was $ 64 a piece($ 128 couple). All the food came out at the same time on the tv tray with little to no explanation. Was very hit or miss I’m thinking if you are showcasing your evening service you would want to show off your best items. It was a mish-mash of cold and hot food… No roti bread, No sampling of desserts, or sampling of non-alcoholic drinks. Most of my table mates were just as frustrated. You have to be really careful when picking some of the Scout Mob events… this one was insulting and we felt scammed.

The cold chai was the best I’ve had. Very happy with that! I chose the vegetarian option out of the four dishes they were serving. It came with a few sides and a really pretty yogurt sauce. The food was good. Very pleased with the quality and presentation. It didn’t blow me away, but I did enjoy it. They give you a decent amount so I shouldn’t complain about price, but it was a little more than I’d like to spend on a casual lunch. Total was $ 20 for an iced chai tea and the vegetarian lunch. Personally, if I ever go back(I would like to) I will get one of the samosas and a chai tea. That would be cheaper and probably more satisfying!

I like this plate. The classical jazz, the design, the fast casual, the real utensils. I love that there isn’t a lot of fussiness with the setup. Unlike other eating places on Atlanta that still rely on the server model. Just get me to my food and bypass the jackass who may be serving it to me. When will Atlanta get this. We want more Krog. This is what i like. So they shouldn’t have a server problem right. Well kinda do. But it’s juts because they have one dude doing everything. So be prepared to wait. A bit of advice I received is how someone treats you when they don’t have to treat you well tests a person character. I use this for restaurants too. When they serve me filtered water and they don’t have to. When they give me a full 16 Oz to go cup instead of that childs sippy cup, tells me they trust me not to take the soda. So when I order a $ 516 oz Chai and you don’t fill it all the way or you give me the burnt Samosa when you could have given me the fresh one that just came out of the oven I look at these things. I bucket this as a service issue. Yes I’m judgemental when I pay $ 21 for lunch for Indian and there are no leftovers to take home. So with that rant I still like it. I think it’s worth a try. Go to the non traditional samosas. Thumbs up. Chai delicious not overly packaged sweet milk. The real stuff. The Carrot cake delicious but at $ 6 a sliver not a slice be ready to eat and want more.

Checke this out with a friend a few days ago for lunch. Cute small space in the same Studioplex location so easy parking. Its a neatly done space without overcrowding the tables in. They have a very select menu, almost only about 10 things I saw when I visited. I opted for a mango lassi with the open face veggie kati roll an my friend did the beef version for the same. It was definitely yummy and filling, and the space itself lends for catching up over conversation. I would love to go back and try some more of the menu but the hours are not the best to swing by all the time unless you happen to live in the neighborhood.

I love everything about this place. The atmosphere and décor are so well executed. It’s just a really comfortable, beautiful place to spend time and eat. I ate the Eggplant Sandwich. The flavors were honest and wholesome. Also, I drank the best Chai I’ve ever had. Side note: I love their dishes. Also, the man who helped me was so informative and thorough in how he described each dish to me. He really went the extra mile to be helpful. I will be back soon, and I will bring friends. This place is great. Oh, and next time I’m getting cake. :)

Must haves: amma’s spiced carrot cake and hot chai! Along with this we also had curried chickpeas with baked potato cake, roasted eggplant with butter milk dressing(I personally didn’t like it bcoz it was too sweet for my taste) and by the way got a complimentary mango bread pudding which was delicious!

I’ll admit that I had ambivalent feelings about Cardamom Hill but I really quite like this place. Really. For one thing, it’s relaxed… you could easily do a low-key, creative business meeting and spend a few hours nibbling and plotting. The food is interesting and fun. For example, I love the fact that a properly-attributed Ottolenghi dish was being offered one day along with all the originals.(So that’s what that is supposed to taste like…) Parking is easy, prices are a bit too high, that said, go anyway.)

Such a lovely place. Cosy atmosphere and very good food. Proprietor is very friendly and welcoming. A perfect spot to study or meet friends; atmosphere is nice for both. Chai tea is delicious and the Kerala fried chicken is perfectly prepared.

Spice to Table has been on my list of places to eat since it opened! I was so glad to finally be able to go with my parents a few weeks ago when they were in town, here is the rundown: The Good: — Easy parking — Amazing environment. Asha has done a great job of creating a space that is serene and puts you at peace as soon as you walk in. — The CHAI — love this and it definitely puts the chai of chain coffee shops to shame. My parents(raised in India) loved the Chai as well. — Mango Upside Down cake was delicious, light, and fruity = the perfect type of dessert. We also ordered the chicken and coconut rice wrapped in banana leaf and eggplant dish. While both of these dishes were tasty, I do wish they were served a little warmed and with a little more flavor. With a name like Spice to Table, I was expecting a little heavier on the spices, especially on the eggplant dish. I thought the eggplant was a little on the pricey side for what you got. I definitely will come back here and try out the samosas or maybe just get a dessert and chai. So glad that I finally got a chance to come!

I’ve been wanting to check out Asha Gomez’s food at Cardamom Hill, but missed my opportunity. Luckily, she opened up Spice to Table in the Old Forth Ward. The restaurant itself has a very charming & rustic aesthetic. I loved the atmosphere, & the staff was very friendly & helpful. Asha herself was helping people at the counter & even offered complimentary dessert. Her husband and son were also so sweet, and recommended some great options. They use halal meat, but all of the meat dishes had sold out so I tried a few vegetarian options. I tried the curried chickpeas with baked potato cake served on a paratha(flaky Indian flatbread), and was very impressed with the flavoring of the chickpeas. Those were the best part, and I’d order a bowl of the chickpeas separately if I could. My friend ordered the roasted eggplant with buttermilk dressing, which was very light and perfectly seasoned. I wish the food had been a little warmer & a little spicier, but it was very tasty nonetheless. For dessert, we tried the almond cake which was topped with mandarins. It was very dense, very rich, and tasted like something my grandmother would have baked. I really enjoyed my experience here, and left very satisfied. Just be sure to arrive early since food might sell out!

I was so excited to have visited Spice to Table, already a fan of Asha Gomez’s style of cooking, I was eager to go to her restaurant especially since I lost my chance of visiting Cardamom Hill while it was open. Spice to Table is located behind some housing on Auburn avenue, when you pull in you can either park on the street in front of the restaurant or pull in to the drive way and continue past the gate where there is ample parking behind the restaurant, you’ll most likely find parking there like we did. The restaurant is very open with beautiful and ecletic decoration. There is a dining area/sitting area with some art and jewelry displayed up front as soon as you enter then once you go through the second set of doors there is another dining room and the ordering station where food is displayed. Since I got there close to closing time they did not have their full menu available to order from and we had to order from what was left over. Even with the lack of choices I was still eager to order and eat the food I’ve read and heard so much about. My friend and I ordered the Roasted Eggplant with Buttermilk dressing and the Curried chickpeas with baked potato cake. Both came served on on a paratha(a round flatbread with a softer texture than roti). There was an almond cake layered with mandarin segments on display and we ordered that for dessert. The eggplant dish was beautifully presented with cherry tomatoes just blistered and ready to pop and a buttermilk dressing that favored more like goat cheese or a cream cheese with some herb, it was really good, it was all topped with thyme. Overall it was a solid dish, it could use some more warming up before being served, I think that it being near closing time and that it probably was on display for most of the day could have contributed to not being a good temperature when eaten. The curried chickpeas with a baked potato cake was a good dish, the chickpeas were the star of the whole thing they were perfectly spiced. Lastly for dessert was the almond mandarin cake. By the looks of it, it was not one to be refused. It was really sweet, almost too sweet, we found the almond and the orange complimented each other very well. I wished there was a more Almond flavor to it but it was good nonetheless. Make sure you have enough room before ordering cause it is a dense cake and it can take you from satisfied to full real quick. Overall a great restaurant with great service. I hope to come back and get the chance to taste more of their dishes.

Vegetable quiche, mango pudding pie and iced chai. Normally I am not a chai tea drinker since it is made with milk, but in the absence of iced coffee availability, I swallowed a few dairy pills and enjoyed the flavorful chai. Word to the wise… eat the mango pudding cake there instead of takeout like I did since I couldn’t resist not getting it. I got syrup and mango pudding all over me and my purse after I tipped the takeout box in the car. But of course, I still ate the entire piece of cake when I got home… delicious.

What an awesome treat to have an Asha Gomez concept open at Studiplex. I had seen the progress of Spice To Table go on as I kept going back month after month for a haircut at Aviary and was really stoked to see it coming along. Well, I finally made it in for lunch and I absolutely loved it. It’s a small space with bookshelves of decorative items and books, some small tables, communal-style tables, and really, really cool music playing in the background. I walked in around 12pm and there were a few other folks eating lunch. I stepped up and took one look at the menu and immediately spotted what I wanted — The potato and pea samosa, veggie quiche, and mango bread pudding. The samosa was wonderful, but not your typical samosa. It was flat, like a pie, and wrapped in phyllo. The crispy, layer-y style made it so different, but intoxicatingly fun to eat. It was buttery and super savory. The innards were subtle and perfectly simple and balanced. The veggie quiche is a huge win for any vegetarian. They don’t go for the typical whipped eggs into a pie tin with a few veggies. No sir. They actually mix in crème fraîche in with the eggs and really give it some extra time and attention. The result is a super fluffy, still stiff, and hearty quiche which tastes like a savory pudding of sorts. The texture is so different, but it kept me puzzled and pleased with each bite. The top had a good mix of zucchini and tomatoes and herbs. Loved it. So much. The mango bread pudding was great. Where I would have loved to have it piping hot out of the oven. The mango purée in the bottom of the bowl was sooooo good. I ate the remainder like it was soup! The coolest part of my experience was to see Asha behind the counter plating dishes and smiling at each customer. She is such a bright soul and seems to really be enjoying this new venture. The dishes really show and are super delicious. I can’t wait to come back. Note: They mentioned having extended hours soon for an early dinner crowd. Their hours may extend to 7pm soon.

A bit heavy on the cardamom, but damn delicious. The service was quite good as well. The iced chai tea was strong, but fresh and not made from a mix like most coffee joints. The chicken samosa was fabulous. Buttery puff pastry outer with a strong slightly spicy inner chicken mix. I think it was around $ 6. There was also a veggie samosa(pea and potato maybe), roasted veggies, fruit salad, and some different desserts in the case. I grabbed a mango bread pudding to go for a friend. She didn’t offer me any so I can’t give a thumbs up or down on that dish. I wish Spice Table were open more hours or on Sundays. As the hours are now, I can only make it there on Saturdays. Sad, since I thought the food was quite stellar. I would love to see her make some hardier Indian dishes and sell them as to-go meals. Inman Park could really use a place to pick up a quick meal.
