Well, I was hoping to hit a home run with this joint, and I didn’t, but I did get a solid base hit. Clearly, Arturo’s is a breakfast oriented joint. Their lunch offerings are pretty sparse — it’s either a burrito or tacos, and they only had two meats«available». To their credit, the burrito was clearly handmade and fresh, and the ingredients were fresh and tasty with a nicely done set spices. Despite that, I came away distinctly unimpressed. The prices are reasonable at $ 8 for a burrito and drink, though be aware that your choices are soda and water as they don’t have tea of any kind. There isn’t any wait-staff, and the woman taking orders at the counter is also the person cooking, so if there’s more than a few people there, expect a bit of a wait. I haven’t had breakfast here, and I feel like that would be the stand-out experience at Arturo’s. In the meantime, I think it’s a solid lunch spot if you’re in the mood for fresh but simple Mexican.

Agree with Gissel… we live in the neighborhood and, beginning in November, have driven by at different times on different days and they have NEVER been open. Their food looks delicious and we would LOVED to have had another Mexican food option nearby but, alas, we’ve given up on this one.:(

I don’t who in the world would give this place more than 1 star! This food is awful. Let’s start with the warm coffee, that tastes like it’s been in the pot for over a day. I ordered a Midas plate. How do you mess that up, right? This place managed to do it. The salsa for the plate tastes rancid and old. The beans tastes like they are from a can and just got doctored up to also cover up the fact they are going bad, the home fries are soggy and hard not crispy at all. There was about 2 tortillas with only one egg mixed with them. And I asked for flour tortillas on the side, yep should have known they are generic not homage. I should have stopped at the coffee. I guess another sign was the only person in the place was the lady who cooks, serves and cleans. Needless to say thank god I don’t live here and NEVER will be here again.

Awesome place. Decent beans, and better potatoes: The owner has a secret spices recipe that actually makes me like home fries for once. Food is made to order, from scratch, genuine hard work in every bite. Place is a fledgling business and I hope it succeeds.

The food is not bad and the restaurant is clean. The tortillas are not homemade which should be a Mexican restaurant staple but they aren’t rubber either. The overall flavor was pretty good. The only real complaints: No chips and salsa to nibble on while waiting for actual meal to be prepared. Breakfast on weekends should be offered until 1pm.

The Works Taco: This is a large taco with bacon, sausage, chorizo, potato, egg, and cheese. As you can see from my picture it’s more like a big burrito. It’s a great value at 3.95. It’s a protein rich taco with a good bit of fats so expect it to have some grease. The tortilla is tasty and I believe it has bacon fat. The flavors from this taco pair perfectly with their home made tomatillo sauce. Carne Guisado Taco: This taco contains pork, cheese, and Guisado sauce. My complaint is the over cooked pork. It was chewy and dry. I spoke with Aurturo and unfortunately his establishment cut their operation hours down to weekends only. Because of this and the dry pork I can only give him three stars. I’m sure other items are worth trying and I will come back for the quesadilla. This dish was featured in Southern Living Magazine.
