First time I went in I was quoted one price. Next day I drop off my item and was quoted a second higher price. Third day I pick up my item and was charged a much much lower price. I’m super happy with my mirror and obviously super happy about the low price. Minus one star because of their whacky pricing strategy.

There were some bad reviews, so I was cautiously optimistic when I pulled up to the Burnet Road store. I just needed a quarter of an inch trimmed off a mirror so it would fit in my diy project. I tried a do it yourself cutter and it was not happening that way!
When I walked in, I was greeted with a hearty welcome! So far, so good. I explained what I needed and showed them the mark of where the cuts needed to be made. As I waited for them to cut it, another customer came in looking for replacement glass for a coffee table. They knew they wanted a bevel, but not how much. The woman at the counter took time to show them the glass and how the different sizes of bevel would look with the table. She was very thorough.
I was watching because I love diy projects and it was interesting to see the different types of glass and edging. My mirror came back and I commented on how impressed I was. I will use these guys/​gals again for future glass work!

I so much wanted to give Binswanger a 5 star review. Afterall, they did a great job and offered a good price the 1^st I requested their service. However, the 2^nd time was really a disappointment. I had call on a Monday to request a repair no later than Thursday. I was told by (won’t mention his name … I will go with an alias … John Doe) that he would call me back. Never heard back. I called Tuesday, asked for John Doe, and politely made the same request. He said he would call me back. Never heard back. I called Wednesday, asked for John Doe, and politely made the same request. In each request, I identified the urgency. Once again, he stated he would call me back. Never heard back. The window was never fixed. I had to find another vendor, and risked robbery as we were heading out for the weekend. Unfortunately, I can no longer use Binswanger.

Walked in ready to purchase glass shower doors for my house, something their website says they do. Three people behind the counter, and their response to my inquiry was «there aren’t any shower door salesmen in the building right now». They said they’d take my number and have one call me. I said I wanted to be able to see samples or something, which is why I walked into a brick and mortar store. They responded by handing me a brochure.
Left my number, and they said they’d have someone call me as soon as they returned. Two days later… still waiting for a call back.
Scratch that, NOT waiting any longer, already got two quotes from other vendors in Austin.

My husband called around a few glass shops to get a quote for a shop to cut an oval shaped mirror. Not only were they the cheapest ($ 25), but it was done less than 24 hours later. I brought the frame into the store to make sure it fit properly and he installed it for me at the desk. They were cheap and hassle free. I would definitely return if the need arose.

Not good. Installed expensive shower glass with the wrong hinges, then made me wait a week before they returned to correct their error. No apology for installing the wrong stuff; in fact, he tried to joke that I’d gotten something better. On correction day, workers didn’t arrive as scheduled, and when I called to inquire 30 minutes later, the salesman, Eddie, told me they were on their way, but didn’t apologize or explain. This store does not appreciate its customer base; salesman needs to be retrained to value customer time.

They finally stepped up and paid for getting my car done to hide the scratches they left. Still waiting on my windshield sticker. They ended up later telling me they lost it when I questioned them directly on why they got paid for a sticker then used the old one. They said they were ordering another, but have not yet rec’d it.

Nothing irritates me more than a business who could care less about the customer experience and who makes customers jump through their hoops for the privilege of giving them my hard earned money. I used to love Binswanger and took all my biz there, but in the last few months I have tried twice to work with them on two large pieces of business: windows and lots of mirror. Both times with different staff, I have been completely ignored, no response to phone calls or emails to both the manager and sales guys and when you call on Saturday (the only day regular working folks can call), no one knows anything about anything and none of the sales or managers are there. After weeks of spending my time trying to contact them for two jobs, not getting answers in order to make a buying decision and the rudeness of no responses, even when I left a voicemail complaint for the manager, I am done. I finally told the manager I would negative review them on Unilocal and Angies List unless I heard back from someone… and I’m still waiting weeks later. I can only surmise they don’t really give a X*%^L about the customer or about bringing in new business — a rather odd business and marketing plan, to say the least.
So steer clear, try Ventana (expensive) or a very nice guy at Paradigm Glass to get your glass and mirror work done.

I read all these great reviews and so decided to go with them. I ordered the glass from David, it arrived and sat there for three days and I received no call it was there. I finally called and arranged a time to pick it up. When we got there there was a mistake on the order and the protective coating was not put on. It was sent back… it arrives again… this time 5 days… no call. My contractor has already left the job so after asking David agrees to install it for free. Installers come out and there is a scratch in the glass. We call David and new one is ordered… no call for A MONTH! We call David and he tells us he will check on the order… haven’t heard from him in 4 days… it might just be this salesman, but it’s now over two months later and we still do not have the glass we paid for.

They will screw up your order, its a guarantee. I’ve been to this location three times over the course of 7 years and every single time it happens. Their work is sub-​par when it comes to the edge finishes. A two year old with a grinder could finish glass better than these clowns. Also check the item prior to paying. They will usually wrap the glass for transport but this isn’t to protect it, its to hide their incompetent workers in the back and their shotty work. This place is only interested in getting the glass cut and out the door as quickly as possible with zero attention to detail and it shows. I’ve tried to find alternatives locally but they are all as horrible as this place. Your best bet is to order from another company online and have it delivered.

Let’s see.
They’re fast.
They’re reasonable.
They’re timely.
They’re do good work (grammatical apocalypse)
More than I can say for some other people that come to mind. Broken glass is pain, Binswanger is the solution.

Well, after waiting over a month, my glass shower is finally installed.
I ordered my glass in late June, and was told that it would take approximately 7 to 10 business days to be installed. So I sat and waited 15 days, and when no one had called, I called in.
I was greeted by a very rude lady who tried to school me on how 10 business days works, until she pulled out a calendar and realized it had been the 11^th business day that day (July 4^th excluded). Once she finally realized that she was wrong and I was right, she placed me on hold and then told me the glass wasn’t in yet, and when I asked if she had any idea when the glass would be in her response was «Well, Sir, sometimes glass breaks, it will be here when it gets here and we will call you.»
So I waited again. No phone calls.
I called back a week later to inquire, got a nicer person, who told me the glass still wasn’t in and she would call the glass manufacturer but got only a voicemail. This phone call went un-​returned as well. This seems to a motif running at Binswanger, not returning peoples calls.
So this last Friday, I finally called, and by then I was VERY upset at how long this was taking. I was immediately transferred to my sales guy, at which point I left a voicemail.
This voicemail was returned this morning (Monday), at once Eddie told me that my glass actually HAD been in back warehouse this whole time, and that someone neglected to tell him that the glass had arrived about 10 business days ago.
So here I sit today, with my glass shower finally installed after a month of waiting on something I was told would take 7 to 10 business days. Not to mention this glass is not cheap by any means.
I am VERY dissatisfied with the level of customer appreciation and communication that I received on this project.
If my sales guy hadn’t had my credit card number I would have gone to another glass installer a long time ago.
I hope Binswanger doesn’t treat all their customers like this, because as it stand for now, I will never be returning for business there again, and I will sure be telling others to steer clear as well.
Maybe they are good at auto glass repair, but for shower doors, Methinks not!

I recently had my windshield replaced on my 2004 Toyota Tacoma truck by Binswanger. I’ve had my windshield replaced on the truck about 3 times already and always had some problem with the installation afterwards. This time I decided to try Binswanger and I’m glad I did. I met the technician and he was very professional. After talking with him I found out he had been doing this profession for many years so I felt a little better about his experience. A great job through and through. Did the job in about 45 minutes and the windshield looks great inside and out.
Thank you Binswanger for a good windshield job finally!

I was the victim of one of those random-​drive by-​shoot your car windows out early in the morning. I called around for price quotes and they were all comparable. I decided to go with Binswanger. The guy from Binswanger was there the next morning and replaced my car window
in about an hour. He was a cool guy and very friendy and did a great job.
He even vaccumed up all the broken glass in my car and my driveway.
Professional, fast, and great service.

Know your Binswanger.
How do you make an addition next to a master bedroom disappear? My friends live next to a forest and they loved waking up to that view… but they were having a baby and needed a laundry room addition, pronto.
What if the windows in the addition reflect the forest… what if they are large, mirrored glass without any trim, without any mullions? Oh, and what if the glass spans from floor to just below the ceiling, so it must be tempered… Reflective, Low-​E, AND tempered, can you do that?
Yes, it was a custom order and yes it was expensive, and YES Keith at Binswanger on Burnet really came through.
I ordered the glass with him, discussed the detail and the necessity for two jumbo pieces of mirror glass… one 7′ x 8′ and one 4′ x 8′ that would join at the corner with a butt joint… a disappearing vertical seam. After showing him some drawings and discussing the detail, he said they could not only special order the glass, but they could also install it… awesomeness.
When they showed up to install, they were all business. The guys have to be strong and patient and willing to work with something that can break… I had thought some of my requests were unrealistic or over-​the-​top but they did it.
My friends now have a 4 year old who always has clean clothes and who likes gifts from Aunt Kimbery and thinks that all laundry rooms are flooded with light and trees.
Not all Binswangers do the same kind of work, from what I understand. Some focus on cars and some focus on custom architectural jobs… so you may want to make sure your Binswanger can do what you want him to do… cuz they will refer you to the right one if the one you call does something else well.
I am pretty sure, though, if your job involves glass, Binswanger can please you like they pleased me.

I don’t think they clearly explained their pricing to me and I feel that I was overcharged. I wanted four small cuts of glass for a project I was doing with my aquarium. The total area I needed cut was less than one square foot. They charge a minimum for glass which is for one square foot which I thought was reasonable. Instead of charging me based on the total area of glass I used they charged me the minimum for each piece I had cut which was 4 times what I was expecting to pay. The overall quality of the work was satisfactory. Had I known this was how they were going to charge me I would have just had them cut me one big piece of glass and I could have cut the pieces to size myself. Cutting sheet glass is not particularly difficult and I would definitely be careful using them in the future.

Broke the glass cover for my aquarium and took it here to get a new one made. They told me it would be ready within 5 hours but called me within 30 minutes to tell me it was done. The glass looks great, the service was good, and it was super fast. Couldn’t ask for anything more!

Some crazy dude who was upset with the IRS flew a plane into the echelon building (near 183 and mopac, across from my office) in Austin earlier today.
As you might expect, the building was on fire and there were people hanging outside the windows who needed help getting out. Binswanger glass noted the situation and took their own trucks/​ladders out to help folks depart the building. (not sure if Austin fire dept. was on the scene yet).
It’s stuff like this that makes me proud to live in Austin and I think it should be noted that these guys are patriots. I’ll definitely continue to business with them knowing what they did today.
sidenote: I’ve used them to replace windshields on my 4runner and they’ve done a great job every time.

Maybe they’re good for auto glass replacement. I don’t know. This review is about window pane glass replacement as I needed window glass.
So I go in the first time with a cracked pane I need to replace and the counter person is extremely helpful and knows a lot more than I do. I try not to shop at big box stores, and the Breed & Co near me only has clear glass and I wanted a tinted glass for some south-​facing windows. When I walk away with my purchase (six tinted window panes), I’m extremely happy. When I am installing the panes three days later, I unfortunately discover my six panes of glass were not cut from the same batch and I get to play «one of these things is not like the other» on my office window because one pane is noticeably darker than the other five. Why install it? It was Sunday and I really wanted to put the window back together.
I give them the benefit of the doubt. Plus I need more glass. I’m doing all my windows.
Two weeks later I go back with my invoice from the previous order and say «just like this». Except they didn’t do the invoice right and I end up with six panes of glass that are what they wrote down (8×10) instead of the measurement I needed. Six panes of too-​small glass. I guess I’m collecting panels for a greenhouse now. I blamed myself for that mistake … I should have taken a reference pane with me, or at least measured it and not assumed the information was correct on the invoice.
So I go back a third time with the glass in hand and the other extremely helpful person behind the counter doesn’t realize the road to hades is paved with good intentions, reduces the measurements down because … I don’t know why … and has it intentionally cut too small. Who does that? If you bring in a piece of glass and say «exaclty this size, please,» that doesn’t mean ¹⁄₈ of an inch smaller. It means EXACTLY THIS SIZE!!!
I’m stuck installing it because I hate wasting resources and time, but frustrated because my window sash now might as well be a huge gaping hole in the the side of my house. I thought I was being all energy efficient by fixing it up and replacing the cracked panes and worn putty, but … heh. Guess not. Good thing for gunk, but it’s as ugly as sin and it leaves me wondering why I bothered refinishing it in the first place.
If it hadn’t had been for the first experience with the nice knowledgeable person, I might not have gone back the second … or third time. Sadly I don’t think I can find this particular glass anywhere else and have it cut to size on such small orders. I’m going to keep giving them my business until I’m done restoring my windows, but I’ll be sending the husband to the counter — I might turn rabid and start venting my frustration.
Please, if you use Binswanger for anything other than auto glass repair, be aware that what you ask for and what you get may not be the same thing.
