Del’s Heating & Air Conditioning

Had the typical A/​C drain pipe clogging and couldn’t reach my usual HVAC guys, so came to Unilocal and sent out a request for quote to several well-​reviewed businesses. Del’s was the first to reply and we scheduled an appt for later in the day. An hour or two later they let me know they had some free time and could come earlier. They got here and cleaned out the drain pipe which was a pretty simple service, but they were very responsive and professional.

As a Realtor & personal reference, these guys are good! They went above & beyond on my AC work. Never got this kind of service from the big companies like Christianson and etc.

We had an overall great experience with Del’s! Our AC went out in the middle of the night two weeks ago. I put a call out to 5 AC companies the following morning. Del’s was the first company to call me back. They were able to come out just a couple hours later.
Unfortunately our realtor had not purchased the home warranty following our home purchase like promised. When they did purchase it (upon us asking when our AC broke), we had 3 weeks before it activated :(. When Paul arrived I explained the situation and let him know we just needed a bandaid. He quickly diagnosed the problem and was able to fix it on site. He let us know that we had a bad coil and that ultimately our unit was getting near end of life. He said he understood we’d want to try to get these items through our warranty once we had that in place. He charged a very reasonable diagnostic fee and the fee for the repair.
Fast forward two weeks. Our AC began making an awful noise (mind you we were told by Del’s it needed some serious repairs). When it got to the point that we just couldn’t wait until our warranty was activated we called Del’s again. They said they saw Paul had come out prior so they would send Paul again, and on the same day I called! Unfortunately when Paul came out our AC wasn’t making the noise making it difficult for him to diagnose. No charge from Paul for the visit. When it started making the noise hours later I called again and they said Paul would come again first thing the following morning. Paul came out, was able to diagnose the problem and spent over an hour fixing it. He again said it is ultimately the result of us needing a new coil and ultimately a new unit. Paul then said no charge for the repairs. I asked him to charge letting him know our realtor was going to cover the cost. He refused and said he was happy to help.
I cannot recommend these guys enough!

Del’s was able to make it to our home on the same day I called and was quickly able to diagnose and repair our clogged A/​C drain as well as provide some good advice on how to maintain the unit. Pablo was professional, friendly, and informative. We’ll be using their services again in the future.

My husband and I wanted to let everyone know how absolutely wonderful Del’s Heating and Air Conditioning is. Our a/​c unit went out on Sunday morning and we called Del. He came out Sunday afternoon and found that we had to have a complete new system. Del and his crew came back out on Tuesday afternoon and installed the new system and new t-​stat in no time at all. Woke up on a Saturday morning at 4am, 80° in the house and the dog days of summer had just started. The AC had stopped working. Calling around on a Saturday morning, I left messages for 4 different AC repair companies. Nobody could come out until Sunday, but Del called back and said that if his tech had time after his appointments he would give us a call. Meanwhile we were looking at hotel options as the inside of the house was approaching 90°. 3pm was the cut off, and just as I was walking up to the hotel to book a room, the phone rings. It’s Pablo from Del’s Heating & AC. Great! We rushed back home and met with Pablo. He was extremely knowledgeable about our 7 year old system, explained what we could expect repair-​wise over the next 7 years, and fixed the system in about 20 minutes. He stayed another 20 to make sure he answered all our questions and we were quite pleased with the service.
Sure, it was a little extra to come out on a Saturday and the part that was installed I could have bought cheaper on Amazon, but in reality there is no way we could have waited two days to receive a part in the mail while living in the 100° house. We needed it fixed right away and that’s what Pablo did for us.

I absolutely love and trust Del. He fixed my A/​C three years ago when it needed a repair and also told me that my current equipment would probably need replacing within 2 months or two years (it was 15 years old at the time). He was never pushy, trying to get me to buy a new AC right then, so when it came time to get a new AC three years later, I called Del immediately and have never regretted it. I’ve had my new AC for a year now, and it it lovely.

A/​C quit on Friday at 6pm so I called Del’s and left a message. Received a call within the hour and was told they could work me in sometime on Saturday, which was great. About an hour later received another call and was told the service tech (Pablo) would try to help me before he went home the same day. I thought this can’t get any better, but it did. Pablo arrived in about 45 minutes and immediately began analyzing why my unit was blowing warm air. Everything he did he explained to me and always made me feel confident of his knowledge and expertise. I was VERY impressed by Pablo’s honesty and skills. Yes he did check the capacitor, refrigerant, etc and did not try to sell me something I did not need. He also gave me an education on my unit I could not have gotten anywhere else in a way that did not make me feel stupid. This guy is the real deal. Note to Del; I hope you hang on to this guy, he is a credit to your business. You have great reviews on Unilocal and I will continue to choose your company and recommend you to others.

Really nice guys and the only ones willing to come over on quick notice (I tried 5 other 5 star companies before them). That gets them the first 3 stars.
Where they lose stars is the markup. I knew exactly what my problem was and they were able to fix it in 5 minutes. I had a bad capacitor. I didn’t mind paying them the $ 76 to come out and diagnose and fix, but they charged me $ 106 for a new capacitor. I expected a markup, but not 5x. This AC capacitor is a common thing you can get on Amazon for $ 15-​$ 20. I wish these guys well and they do good work, but I’m hoping they see this and realize that their consumers are more educated now and they can’t get away with marking up parts so outrageously.

I preparing to list my house for sale on a Saturday afternoon in June when the AC capacitor blew around noon. As the house started heating up and I started freaking out about who I was going to find last-​minute to handle the repair, I called Del’s. He returned my call in less than 10 minutes (some other companies I also left messages with never called back at all), he was able to work me into the schedule that afternoon, and I was up and running again by 3 pm. THANK YOU to Del’s for such a quick response, great service, and a fair price. We found out he also services the area our new house is in, and we will be using him for all of our HVAC needs in the future.

Finally, an AC and Heating place I can trust! (Austin is full of dishonest AC/​Heating companies. Read about them on Unilocal to protect yourself!)
One of my rent houses needed to be cooled down: The Central AC wasn’t getting back to the bedrooms. This company got a technician out within two hours from the time I called, calling my tenant, first, and okaying everything with her. I asked them to call me before they did any needed repairs, as another company had screwed me over, X2, on what they originally quoted me on another call. The Del’s technician called me and told me what was needed and the exact total to do the same. The job was done and my tenants were happy, within the hour. I got a bill, for the exact agreed amount, via email, and paid on the phone with my cc. I then got a bill marked «paid.» Great company! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Called and got same day service. Johnathan was great and had me up and running in no time. Reasonable price and good explanation of the problem. About as good a broken-​AC experience you can get in Texas. I would definitely call them for any future needs, god forbid.

We had been nervous about calling someone to have our heater repaired, worried that it would be a big, costly job. Wanting to cross things off my to-​do list today, though, inspired me to check Unilocal and find someone to come fix this downstairs heater, which has been blowing cool air whenever turned on. Someone answered my call to Del’s right away and I was told that a technician could come to my home this morning. The tech arrived about 2 hours later (well within the time frame given by the company, and after first calling me to make sure I was home) and only needed to look at the heater for a few minutes before determining the problem– an easy fix! I was very impressed with Del’s quick and friendly service and will be calling again with any heater/​AC problems in the future.

My a/​c stopped working, these guys fixed it. They had to replace capacitor and contactor for which they charged $ 106 and $ 68 respectively. This is outside of their labor that they charged separately. I asked them it seems expensive for the parts they said it is how much they cost in the market.
I found the good quality brands of these parts are available in the stores for $ 15 and $ 20 respectively, I think it is a shame to rip off to this scale on parts. They get only 1 star for being greedy.

Yesterday my air conditioner was blowing but not cooling, of course it had to be 5:30 and 100 degrees outside. Found Del’s on Unilocal so I called and left a message, someone called me back at 8:30, after they had already closed. Scheduled appt for today, they showed up early, very nice, knowledgeable and the price was reasonable. I will definitely call them in the future. Thanks again.

I am apparently not as lucky as everyone else who gave 5 star reviews to this place.
The tech was almost 2 hours late and completely unapologetic. This was a huge problem since, as we told them when setting the appointment, we are buying the house and had to inconvenience the tenant for 2 hours. I’ll give 2 stars for him being kind enough to spend a few minutes discussing different sized a/​c units. But then, without even looking, he says we need all new duct work on top of a new system– excuse me, but what?! How can you know that without taking a peek around? The bid ended up coming in almost $ 1000 more than the wonderful ppl we ended up working with. Sorry Del, but I think these 5 stars may be too generous :-/

I chose Del’s because of their reviews were high. Yes, it’s all it’s cracked up to be. Del was the only one to return my call on a Saturday, and within about 10 minutes. He beat me to the rental house in question. I had a minor emergency with some rental guests who couldn’t get the A/​C working.
Within minutes, Del diagnosed the problem (faulty thermostat). Soon thereafter, it was fixed and he even replenished our freon levels while he was at it.

So happy that we called Del’s today to come service our AC before the hot temps are here to stay for the summer. Our unit was working, but struggling to work effectively and actually cool down our space. I called and left a message this morning and was called back within 30 minutes and set a time for the service call same day! They even called to try and move up the time to an earlier slot. Excellent communication and service. Pablo showed up on time and went to work right away. He found two minor issues that he recommended fixing and a short time later we were back in business.
What I appreciated most was the responsive service as well as Pablo taking time to explain the issues in terms that I could easily understand. Very friendly and efficient too. Thanks to Del’s!

Here’s my experience with them…
One day two summers ago I woke up to two non-​working A/C’s. Yes, not one, but both of my A/​C units were not functioning.
I immediately hop on the internet and begin researching my issue. Sounds like a bad capacitor in unit #1to me (I’m very mechanically inclined, but never worked on an A/​C unit before).
Unit #2 doesn’t turn on at all. No sound, no starting noises, nothing. I’m like, great, this repair is going to cost me an arm and a leg. I start calling a couple of highly rated heating and air guys.
First one doesn’t answer so I leave a message (never calls back, by the way).
On the second phone call a very nice lady answers and pretty much tells me they’re so busy — it’s the summer after all — the soonest they could come out for a service call is in 3 days.
Sensing my disappointment she offers the services of another heating and air biz, so I give them a call.
Right off the bat, the guy tells me they can’t come until tomorrow and even then it would be late in the day, no guarantee, and it depends how quickly they can make repairs (keep in mind it’s like 102 degrees outside). I said thanks, I’ll call you back if I can’t find anyone else.
My next call is to Del’s Heating & Air Conditioning.
A friendly guy named Pablo answers the phone. He says he can stop by and check things out in about 2 hours.
I’m like… Wow!
Pablo not only shows up on time, but he also calls me beforehand to let me know he’s on his way. Pretty awesome, so far.
He looks over both outdoor compressors and says …“unit #1 has a bad capacitor.“
Yes, that’s what I thought!!!
Next, he asks me where the attic is. I show him and up he goes. After two to three minutes he comes back down and says…“unit #2 is all fixed.“
I said…“what!!!“
He says, «the electric wall switch was turned off».
Then I remembered the Directv installation guy was in the attic the day before hooking up my new TV service. He must have switched off the power and never turned it back on.
Damn you Directv!
And thanks to Pablo for being honest (what a coincidence to have both units not working at the same time).
Anyway, Pablo replaces the capacitor in unit #1 for a very reasonable fee. I’m happy and cool again!
Fast forward to the following summer.
The capacitor in unit #2 goes dead. On a Sunday no less. I call Del’s Heating & Air Conditioning again and this time it’s Del the owner who answers and says he can stop by later on in the evening.
Same thing. Calls before he shows up and fixes unit for a very reasonable fee. and on a Sunday no less.
So, like I said. If you want fast, reliable — and most importantly HONEST A/​C service — I highly recommend Del’s Heating & Air Conditioning

I was referred to Del from Jeanne from Smart Air service, who was very kind in taking the time out to make sure I got my heat unit fixed today since they couldn’t get to me today. To me that says a lot about character and the state of a company!
I called Del and he told me he would be able to get to me tomorrow, but when I explained that I just got out of the hospital and been without heat for two days, he made an exception and prioritized my call and said he would be out by days end. Indeed he and another nice gentleman showed up and fixed the problem within 20 minutes. Fast, good service at a fair price deserves 5 stars, therefore that’s what I’m giving and that doesn’t usually come from me easily. Thanks Del’s Heating and Air!
