A truly old school barbershop where everyone who stops in is a friend, whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth.
Call ahead for an appointment with Luis or walk-​in and have Art, Ray or Adam give you a cut. They will all have you leaving looking great, and your cut will still look great tomorrow, next week, and until you come back for your next cut.
Free wi-​fi, always good music in the background and even better conversation, covering any and all topics.

It’s rare you find a place where you trust every barber to cut your hair. It doesn’t matter who is available when you go in, they’re all a safe bet (although I haven’t had the new guy cut my hair yet). Luis, Art and Raymond have all done an exceptional job for me.
Art gave me my pre-​wedding cut and made me look like a badass ;) Highly recommend this place. Go on a Wednesday or early Saturday. It fills up fast and can be a long wait.

After 6 years of getting my hair cut at the Corner, I went in today for the last time. Moving out of Austin, so I brought Luis a box of my model cars as a parting gift. In exchange, he gave me my last haircut for free. It’s hard to find anything to complain about with these guys. They all love their work, and I respect the crap out of them for being so dedicated to their craft.

Nice and clean barbershop with a parking lot and good atmosphere. Adam cut my hair and took lots of care in the details. He was reasonably quick and efficient and the initial cut quality seems good. I would definitely go back. Cuts are $ 20, a little higher than I am used to, but again he took his time and really focused on the details.

I drove in today. Easy in, plenty of parking. The building looks inviting, and like a real barbershop. I walk in, and I am greeted with a sincerely hello. Raymond, immediately slides the cape from his chair, and sits me down. Two other barbers are attending to the customers, they also smile and greet. The atmosphere is real all-​american barbershop. The chairs, the magazines, the model car collection and hot-​wheels collection. The big front window… the sound of scissors and clippers. (good background music, not the deafening thump of chain salons)…the smell of after shave. Raymond took his time, made sure I was comfortable, and gave me a great haircut. His skillfull attention with the neck shave, and hairline use of the razor, and eyebrow trim, said more than these words. The neck and shoulder massage ended a perfect experience. With the added words of, «Relax, stay as long as you want.» … What a great experience… at a great price. Go here… period. I’m going back.

These guys are the real deal. I have very difficult hair to cut and they always do a fantastic job. I have been in just about everyone’s chair. All types of people and ethnicities (hipsters, professionals, students, white, black, Latin, Asian, etc.) come to this place because they can accommodate a diverse range of styles. The icing on the cake is their bedside manner. They are always very friendly and want you to genuinely have a good time. Another great service that comes standard is their traditional blade shape up and back massage. This cleans up your hair and has it grow back nicely. The massage is just an extra perk to relax you on your way out and shake out any loose hairs that may have fallen.
The only downside is this place can get packed because the service is so good. They recently added another barber to keep up with demand though.

Art is the man. Clean cut always exactly what’s asked. A little pricey but it’s worth it to get a reliable cut. Highly recommend as it is the best cut I have received in Austin.

This place was my first visit and it was pretty calm. The wait was long but I also found out that around 2 PM on Fridays, everyone is looking for a haircut.

If you need a shave and a haircut, this is your place. No long waits like the trendy places. All four barbers are licensed to give you a shave along with your haircut. First come, first served. Also, it is a classic old barbershop with a great atmosphere. When I was there this week, several regulars stopped by just to say hello. Good bargain along with good service.

Great traditional barber shop that offers quality, service oriented customer care. These professionals truly embody the values of a dying art. See these fine gentlemen for a well done haircut, a beard trim or a painstakingly comforting hot foam shave. Kudos to Adam who has taken such great care of me my last two visits.
I have noticed that the have a fiercely loyal clientele and that speaks to the care of their customers. I’m glad I found this gem!

My husband just got his haircut here and he’s raving. He said its one of the best haircuts he’s ever gotten in his life. Old school techniques and a razor shave on the back of his neck.

All the chairs were full. I only waited about 25 minutes. Raymond hooked me up.

If you don’t know, then you’re just SOL. I’ve gone 3 times now and if this isn’t the best barbershop in town then I don’t know what is.
It’s the same 3 barbers (Art, Raymond, and Luis) that know almost every customer that walks through the door by name. This is literally an old school shop!
Phenomenal cuts, phenomenal service, phenomenal deal. I just hope this review doesn’t cause me to have wait longer next time.

This place is great. I recently moved to Austin mid last year and this place has been my go-​to since then. Everyone here is really nice and genuine in addition to their quality cuts. I usually go in the middle of the week during the day so it really isn’t too busy. The longest I had to wait was around 25 mins which isn’t too bad. This is the type of place where they make an effort to learn your name which really goes a long way in my book. All of the barbers here are great, all of my haircuts here have been awesome. No complaints, great spot overall.

For the last three years of college I’ve been a loyal customer of the Avenue Barbershop on South Congress but since graduation I can’t justify going down there and waiting two hours in the middle of the week to get a haircut anymore so I decided to look for a place closer to home.
I came in mid week around noon and got lucky to catch them at a bit of a down time and was able to jump into Luis’ chair immediately. After asking what I wanted to do with my hair he asked if I had been in before and when I told him I hadn’t he introduced me to everyone in the shop. Our conversation was easygoing, not forced small talk, and when he asked what I did I slipped in that I actually had a job interview in about an hour. He laughed and told me to not put so much pressure on him.
After giving me a great hair cut he threw in a beard trim on the house and told me to come back and get another cut after I got the job.
Well, even if I don’t get the job I will be back for sure. This place is great, friendly professional staff that give a great hair cut. I wouldn’t even mind waiting for a bit if I had to.

In town from NY and I desperately needed haircut. I checked out Unilocal (as I do whenever I am in a new city). I liked the reviews, so I went in for a cut. The place is exactly what I hope for in a barbershop; it LOOKS like a barbership — not some overdone salon that’s TRYING to be a barbershop. I got a friendly greeting when I walked in the door and sat down for my wait; about an hour — which was perfect.
The barbers were friendly, chatted with customers and everyone got out of the chairs with a good cut. Luis, the owner, cut my hair. He did a great job, was super friendly and offered me some recommendations for dinner (and his card in case I forgot the names — #Awesome). My cut took about 15 min and was exactly what I asked for. $ 20 + tip and I walked out happy (FYI — There’s a $ 1 service charge for credit cards).

As of July 2014:
All cuts $ 20. Seniors and kids $ 15. Straight razor, face and head shaves $ 25. Beard trim edge up $ 10.
Free Wifi. Great guys. Been coming for years.

This place is a breath of fresh air. Friendly staff, quality hair cuts, a blast from the past. There’s nothing hurried about the experience.
I went in for the first time after a couple of my friends raved about their experience. Luis gave me the best cut I’ve had in years for half of what I usually pay.
Can’t recommend this place highly enough.
