It looks like I’m definitely going against the grain, but I’m going to give this place a positive review. I live in Hampden and have been ordering delivery from them for a couple of years. Every time I’ve ordered, the food had been tasty, hot, and of a reassuring consistency. Usually I avoid ordering Chinese takeout meat other than pork because it’s often a little rubbery and too fatty for my liking. But this place has always been good and they’ve never messed up my order. The dishes I’ve tried include the fried dumplings, the spring rolls(not quite greasy enough for me, but still good), Hunan chicken, Singapore rice noodles, and others I can’t recall at the moment. I’ve been happy with all of them. Is it amazing haute cuisine? No. But it’s a lot better than any other Chinese takeout I’ve tried in Charles Village or Hampden over the last 10 years. I’ve only ever ordered online so I can’t speak to order mixups over the phone. Minus one star because delivery can take a long time(although it was only 25 minutes when I ordered last night, plus the driver called to tell me he was 5 minutes away).

I’ve ordered from this place for over a decade and have spent a lot of money here. Tonight was the straw that broke the camels back and I will NOT be ordering from here ever again. I called I placed my order and they called me back 5 minutes later saying her son had taken the order and she wanted to go over it. He had written down Hunan chicken instead of Hunan shrimp which she supposedly corrected. Fast forward 45 minutes and guess what gets delivered? Yep, Hunan Chicken, not shrimp! I call and she says«Whoops, I forgot to change the order after I spoke with you.» Then she says they’ll bring me my Hunan shrimp and I am to give them the chicken back. Ok, what the hell? It’s now 7:30pm and I’m freaking starving!!! She did not even apologize. The kicker was when my husband came home 10 minutes later and began eating his Szechuan Crispy Beef. It was not the same thing we always get. No celery was in the dish and it was nothing but carrots. I think her son was also the chef. I called back and told them to keep my Hunan Shrimp and how bad the entire dinner was and all she just said«Oh, OK, sorry». After a decade of eating here, my goose is cooked!

Ordered delivery through eat24. Came promptly within half an hour. Included rice even though eat24 says they don’t(don’t pay for extra rice, you’ll get it for free). Food tastes like standard Chinese takeout, can you really expect more? Only problem was they got the order wrong. Wanted Peking pork, small. Got someone else’s mooshu pork, large instead. Oh well. Singapore chow Mei fun is a bit dry but standard. Crispy scallops is over the top drowned in sweet and sour. Unnecessary. If I want an accurate order, I’d probably order somewhere else. That said, they do advertise a really cheap buffet lunch. Might go to that at some point.

I didn’t know it was possible to make bad Chinese food. It smelled and tasted terrible. The trashcan smelled worse after we dumped the food into it.

We should’ve checked Unilocal and seen the horrible reviews before deciding to order. But we acted on impulse and responded to the flyer these guys left in the building. Whoops. We ordered a meal for 2 at 8:18 and the phone lady said 45 – 50 minutes. After 1:15, we called to check on the undelivered food. She dryly said«it’ll be there any minute now» and we naively accepted that answer. I called again 1:50 after our order was placed. Same lady. She offered no apology of course, and she spent the next several minutes calling the delivery guy on another phone. Finally she comes back says«the driver said he’ll be there in 3 minutes.» Out of patience, I told her that’s fine, if and when it arrived I would give the driver a tip but I wouldn’t pay for the food because it was ridiculously late and clearly everything would be cold anyway. I’ve never done that before but in the circumstances I wasn’t going to pay and I was surprised she hadn’t already offered, or at least even apologized in the slightest. Instead she said no way, that she’d call the driver to cancel the delivery, and that I don’t know business. After all, how can a business give away food(the order was $ 17). I told her she wouldn’t have a business if they continued to miss expectations by over an hour and then offer nothing, all while behaving very rudely. She then tried to make excuses for the delay by saying it’s a holiday(oh… I didn’t realize it was a tradition to order Chinese on Halloween… obviously, they must have been swamped!). She also threw the driver under the bus saying he was new and didn’t know what he was doing. Yeah right, blame the driver who depends on tips right? It was completely unprofessional. Why can’t you take responsibility? I told her if that was her attitude she should indeed cancel the order – no way we would pay, even though it was super late. 10 minutes after hanging up, we get a call and it’s the delivery guy. Could we come down and pick up the order? Ha! The phone woman hadn’t even called the guy to cancel the order. What a worthless scumbag. I felt bad for the driver. He should get a new job because the way this business is being run, it’ll be going down the tubes in a hurry. Oh, we called another place. We had our food in 25 minutes. I guess it wasn’t a «holiday» over there?

I ordered vegetable lo mein, vegetable fried rice, and pepsi. The vegetable lo mein is impossible to eat! It has a weird odor, and tastes awful. I didn’t even get to the fried rice because of the odor. And the Pepsi bottle is greasy. Will never order from them again.

The place needs to be closed for a through cleaning. It is filthy. The rest rooms are beyond filthy. It boggles the mind what the kitchen must look like. Better try Yum’s up the street.

My pork lo mein tasted suspiciously like shoes. The veggie spring rolls are incredibly chewy and are missing veggies. The fake chicken general tso’s is ok and so are the string beans. The coca cola was perfect, but also hard to mess up. Forgot my egg drop soup but, honestly, I think we dodged a bullet on that one.

Ordered food at 10pm on a Saturday night. The prices are great and it all arrived in about an hour and the delivery guy was super nice. Food was hot and smelled great opening the bag. Unfortunately, the food didn’t hold up to our expectations. Pork fried rice and General Tso’s chicken were extremely dry. The hot and sour soup was decent, but left my friend with a stomachache later on. The 2 liter soda we got also had a layer of grease and dust at top of bottle(that is common when plastic is stored in a kitchen for a long time). Not the end of the world, but does raise a concern about restaurant cleanliness.

there really isn’t any great asian food in baltimore — but this place isn’t bad. the food comes hot, it usually takes 45 mins — hour. the wonton soup is good — and they actually make their crispy friend noodles.

This is solid Chinese food, I’m really confused by the other reviews! I have ordered delivery from them for years when I lived in Bolton Hill, and now that I moved even closer I eat in and get take-out frequently. I have never had an issue with incorrect or unfriendly delivery. Sometimes(like on a fri/sat night around dinner rush) I remember it could take longer to get food(~45 min — 1 hour) but it was never cold, soggy, or bad, which made the wait tolerable. I have definitely gotten burned by terrible American-Chinese food in Baltimore, but this place hasn’t let me down yet. The menu is HUGE and I have only tried maybe ten different entrees, but this is probably because everything I’ve had I wanted to get on a regular basis. The food is reasonably priced and it satisfies. The vegetables are always crunchy and the sauces are flavorful and viscous(sometimes a little too vicious, but I prefer this over bland or dry any day). Seafood is reasonably sized and well-prepared. Portions are not too small but not too big. They don’t skimp on the fortune cookies or sauce packets and the food has always been well-packaged in my opinion(no styrofoam, cardboard is stacked between items, double-bagged). The place itself is quite shabby and generally sticky inside(wish I was kidding) which is why I’ve rated it so low… I have never gotten sick on the food there but sometimes I think I am surprised by this. I would be way less uncomfortable eating there if they maintained their restaurant’s appearance a lot better. Obviously it doesn’t keep me away much… it’s convenience and reliable deliciousness balance out my wariness, but I really wish they were a little more clean and updated.

Do not order from here! I ordered house Yat ga Mein from Paul Chen’s and it was the worst food ever. It smelled and tasted like urine was used in the meal prep. I even let someone else taste it just to make sure I wasn’t mistaken and they said the same thing. Threw the entire meal in the trash and called and complained.

I ordered beef and broccoli and crab ragoon, it didn’t take long to get here but when I opened my order, it was sweet and sour chicken instead of beef and broccoli. I call the restaurant to let them know that I got the wrong order and they hung up on me. As you can imagine, I will not be ordering from here again.

I ordered delivery from Orderup for my boyfriend and I to eat on his lunch break(around 2PM) and it took well over an hour to be delivered. Needless to say, my boyfriend had to go back to work on an empty stomach. I called the restaurant and they said the driver was on his way(a 9 minute drive from the restaurant to my apartment). 40 minutes later — no food. So, I call again. The lady says she’s going to call the driver and call me right back. 20 minutes later — no call back and no food. So of course by this time, I haven’t even eaten and I’m already turned off from this place. I will not order here again! Also, I ordered the General Tso’s Chicken and the Orange Chicken. They both tasted exactly the same. Not much flavor at all and same with the egg rolls. There were also tiny holes on the bottom of the takeout box, so it leaked EVERYWHERE. Blah. Bad experience.

Crab rangoon were delicious, but everything else was mediocre at best. The eggrolls were completely tasteless. To be perfectly blunt, this was the worst Chinese food I have ever had– although to be fair, I don’t eat a lot of Chinese food.

Ordered fried rice. What arrived was old, hard and smelled like an old carpet. It was the worst fried rice I’ve ever had… and I’ve had a lot of fried rice. Also ordered Moo Goo Gail Pan, which was decent.

Ma Po Tofu is too sweet I don’t understand Americans and sweet Chinese food. It’s BADBAD. The Hunan Tofu is perfect. No Americanized sugar added. The Wonton Soup was great. I’ll remember to avoid Ma Po Tofu. I’ll go to a Chinese or Taiwanese place for Mao Po Tofu from now on. Get it Straight, or I’m spending my money elsewhere.

Mostly writing to remind myself not to order delivery or take-out here again. The food is disappointing. Yes, even for cheap Americanized Chinese takeout food. I like Kung Pao and dumplings, as a general rule. This is not the place to get them. It’s free delivery off of GrubHub, and most dishes fall below seven dollars apiece, so I guess that’s the plus. I’ve ordered from here more than once, figuring I wasn’t trying the right thing. Learn from my mistake. The soup is bad. The broth tasted… off, and there wasn’t anything other than broth and noodle. It’s not like the green onions in wonton soup do much, but it’s a textural difference every so often. The Kung Pao isn’t hot. Now, I’m a spice fiend, but I’m not blind to Scoville units in the hundreds. Nothing. The sauce for the dumplings tastes like barbeque sauce thinned with soy sauce and they’re very doughy. The Monk’s Yu-Shiang pork(hey, the monk dishes got good reviews, go with those, right?) had three strips of the fake meat in the container and entirely too much onion. The sauce was bland, too. It’s a lot of corn starch, as people have said. The szechaun green beans were okay. Bright side? There’s a whole series of cheap Chinese delivery options. This is not the place to indulge the craving. Just say no and spare yourself the regret.
