Soleil General Contracting Inc

I hired Soleil General Contracting after talking with Michael about a few exterior repairs and the exterior painting of my house. He was very responsive in terms of emailing back and forth about colors, and I was happy with his estimate. I paid for half up front, with the understanding that I would pay the other half after the job was completed. Mike said the would get started in the coming week, and the whole job would be completed inside two weeks.
When I politely checked back in a week later, then two weeks later, and then three weeks, a month later… I was told they had gotten busy, they got behind on other jobs, there was bad weather, etc. Then Mike just stopped responding to my texts. A week later I get a text from him from a different number, telling me this is his new number, and he would be starting the job next week. When I checked a week later, there was an illness that prevented him from getting started, and he said said he would get started soon. Understandable. Then the following week, he said he would have the house «where it should be» by the next week. At that end of that week they hadn’t even started, and Michael was getting more and more difficult to reach, not responding to texts or voicemails, etc. Long story short, now we are over two months in, and all they had done is power wash the house and the deck. Now the new phone number he gave me no longer works, and the old one gets no response. I’ve left voicemails, texted, and emailed, and nothing. I don’t know if they intentionally scammed me or not, but they took my money and did not provide me with the service; in my book that is called bait and switch, and that that is fraud, and fraud is illegal.
I had a lot of other work I was going to give to them after the painting was completed, but obviously I’m not going to use them again. I am out a lot of money and behind schedule, and there is no recourse for me because I can’t even get a hold of them to ask for my money to be returned. I have emailed requesting my money back, but I got no response. I realize a lot of other reviews suggest that people have been happy with their work, but this has not been my experience.

Michael and his team at Soleil did a wonderful job painting our office in the Laurelhurst neighborhood. We needed everything refreshed, and needed him to color match several accent walls which he did well. They did an excellent job with all their prep work, including patching of several areas, and hand rolled everything versus spraying (for the same cost as what the other bidders were quoting to spray), and they used low VOC paints which was important to us. We did all the organization of this project remotely from another state so it required excellent communication skills and thoughtful decision making before and during the project. Michael did a wonderful job communicating about the different issues and questions he or we had along the way, using texted photos with notes on them so there was never any confusion about what we were all looking for as the final product. His team was great to work with on the scheduling front and they were amenable to all the various issues we threw their way from afar. They also made payment (and, therefore, being able to start the job expeditiously) possible with Google Wallet. We will definitely use Soleil again for other contractor needs, and we highly recommend them across the board!

Hired to sand and refinish approx 700 feet of oak wood floor. Mike was responsive, said what he would do then did what said he would. Tragically a vanishing trait amongst contractors these days. His bid/​estimate was prompt and the job was done as promised. We are pleased with our refinished floors!

Reliable, great communication, fair prices and superb service. The project, which included opening a kitchen wall, refacing cabinets and remodeling a basement, turned out great.
