Been here many times as it seems it’s one of my work hang out. Today went and decided to review. I ordered the Dungeness crab fried rice, lots of crab meat and the size of this dish was of epic proportions. I was like OMG when it came out. I was slightly intimidated. I ate like two bites and was done with it. The reason I give it only three stars is the staff is never friendly and they always seem to be in robot mode. They don’t really come by and check on you and when they do– it’s not with a smile, not sure if anyone else has noticed this but I wish they had friendlier staff. The food has always been pretty good and the atmosphere is much better on the left side of the restaurant as it lets you sit down under the table so basically it’s sunken down and you can sit with your feet up or down. Your choice! I like to go but not too much. too many people from work here.

My favorite restaurant in Beaverton! Wonderful, flavorful food, great atmosphere, and all at a very reasonable price.

We used to eat at Thai Derm a lot, and we had takeout from them often. Lately, not so much(we like a closer Thai place better). But, given that. We did like a lot of their dishes, especially mussuman, noodle dishes, soup, and dancing string beans(with chicken). coconut shrimp, and pumpkin curry. I like their dining area with the funky seating, although that is hard for some of us(arthritis, general chunkiness, etc.) to manage. They have more regular tables and chairs in the back. They have a fish tank back there my kid likes to look at. This isn’t a bad Thai option in Beaverton when you need a fairly quick meal.

We went there a few weeks ago for dinner. Pretty casual place, décor is nice with low tables and Thai style. I thought we had to sit on the a pillow with our legs crossed at these low tables, but when we sat down, there is an area where you can put your feet so you don’t have to sit yoga style. Nice! Anyways, we started with spring/salad roll which was real good. My friend had a soup, forgot what it was called, but it was pretty darn tasty. Our entrees consisted of mussaman(sp) curry and pad see eiw(of course). Both we quite good, had good spice level, thai flavors too. They serve brown rice if you like that better than white. I was pleased with what we had and we even looked at the table next too us and that looked quite tasty too. I will be going back for more! Service was fine, didnt have any issues with it. We went around 8pm or so, so it wasn’t very busy. Price was what I expected it to be for a dinner for 2 with app and a soup. Overall, I will be coming back. Read some of the other reviews, I didnt have that experience. Hmm… Happy Thai eating!

Thai Derm gets a tentative 4 star rating. The first time was pretty good. My medium spiced dish was more than medium heat, but the flavor was good and the portions were large. The ambiance is good(though there’s something about it that doesn’t seem perfectly clean). The service was decent. This time, however, was a different story. It wasn’t awful, but my medium spice dish had absolutely no spice to it. Really. None. It had very little flavor, too. The noodles were overcooked, but the chicken was cooked pretty well. So, why the 4 star rating? The boyfriend really liked his food. That gave it a bump from a high 3 star to a 4. We’ll go back and get a solid rating one way or the other. Hopefully it’s a solid 4.

One of the better Thai food places around Hillsboro/Beaverton area. These are the items that we tried: Tom Yum soup(extra spicy): this was real good. Chicken Satay was good. Dungeness Crab Fried Rice was good too… I experimented with the item, Sizzling Seafood, and it was surprisingly good(wasn’t like Mexican Sizzling Fajita style), but good in it’s own way. The Salt & Pepper Calamari(typically can’t-go-wrong-item) wasn’t great.

It’s okay. Many of the comments seem to be about the service. I ordered takeout, so all I have to go on is the food. The mussaman curry was pretty good. Decent flavor, but not enough spice for me. If you have a craving for your average Thai food in America, this is it. Good, not special.

Since my last review, I’ve eaten here numerous times, and sadly, my opinion of the place has gone downhill. The food is still great. I’m actually really bummed that I need to find a new favorite Thai place. See, every time I’ve gone back, the service has gotten worse and worse. Many of the waitresses are rude, they keep changing their minds about when they deliver, and getting ignored gets old quick. Last night was the last straw, though. My boyfriend and I went in for dinner. The restaurant was pretty quiet, and there was plenty of waitstaff there… yet, 20 minutes later, nobody had even been by to drop off water for us, let alone take our order. So we got up and left, and went someplace else. Cause really, 20 minutes of radio silence is just not acceptable on a quiet night.

I’m a huge fan of Tom Yum Noodle soup. I have found that a lot of Thai restaurants carry Tom Yum soup, but they don’t include the vermicelli noodles. When I go to a Thai restaurant and find that they include the noodles, I jump on the opportunity. I heard about Thai Derm from a friend of mine who lives in Beaverton. I saw on the menu online that they had Tom Yum Noodle soup. I decided to venture out and have my own taste test. The prices on the menu online were off from what they were at the restaurant. Instead of being $ 10.50, it was $ 12. The portion size was smaller than what I would have liked. The quality of the broth was good — tangy and spicy, and I liked the Squid, ground chicken, and shrimp. Overall the soup was delicious. I wouldn’t rate it as the best Tom Yum Soup I’ve had in the Metro Portland area, but I’d go back again. I can see paying $ 9.50 for the portion size that I received, but the quality of the food was great. I also liked the seating arrangements. They had cushions on flat wooden bench like seats. The table was in the center and there was room for you to put your feet under the table, or you could cross your legs indian style across the cushions.

Im struggling between 3 and 4 stars, but went down because of lack of consistency. I have been to thai derm several times, and most dishes are very good. There is never a wait(even when the place is quite busy) and sitting with your feet in a hole under the table is pretty cool as well. Their $ 6.50 lunch special is plentiful and comes with soup. Great deal! The ‘yelp special’ re: free delivery is out of date. As of this posting, I was informed via phone that they won’t be doing delivery for another month or so, since they dont have a driver right now.

Let me start off by saying I’m not a huge fan of Thai food, however my husband loves it. We make musaman curry at home fairly frequently and it is pretty tasty. We were seated quickly when we first walked in. I was surprised how many families had their kids there, my kids definitely won’t eat Thai food. The seating was interesting, you had to climb into the booths because the floor under the short table was sunk down. It was pretty cute, but there was no seat back to lean against. It took a somewhat decent amount of time for the waitress to come and take our order, no complaints there really. I ordered the Musaman(I’m really adventurous) and my husband ordered the Panang Curry. We also ordered egg rolls as an appetizer. We were starving, but were enjoying talking while we waited. After a while the wait started to become ridiculous. A couple that had been seated at least 20 minutes after us received their food first. At this point I asked the waitress how much longer our food would be. She said just a minute. I think the food came out about 10 minutes after that. We waited a good hour from being seated to getting our food and the food was subpar. The musaman was way too sweet and it tasted grainy. My husband said the panang wasn’t too bad, but he’s definitely tasted better. When you combine the subpar food with the terrible service I definitely cannot recommend this restaurant.(as a side note, the egg rolls weren’t bad)

I’ve tried several times to like this place… they deliver, and I love Thai food so when I first ordered from them I was so excited. Jackpot, right? It was disgusting. I have tried several choices from the menu, and it’s overall bad. I judge a place by how fresh the food tastes, and especially by their quality of meat.(In these cases, it was chicken– no bueno). I would love to give this place a good review, but that would be a lie. There are better Thai places in Beaverton– and I now know to stay away from Thai Derm.

Color me impressed, surprised, and realllly full! I was at work yesterday, totally craving some Pad Thai, and since I work in the vicinity of Cedar Hills Blvd, Thai Derm seemed the logical choice after a quick search on Unilocal.I had no chance to peruse a menu beforehand, so when I came to pick up my order to-go, I was pleasantly surprised by A) the hefty weight of my box of noodles, and B) the low, low price of $ 6.50 for what was certainly a good-sized portion of pad thai. But many times I’ve been fooled into thinking«wow that’s a lot of food for not a lot of money» only to find that the food tastes awful, so it wasn’t any great deal at all. Not so here! This pad thai was delicious-the sauce was tasty, there was a very nice amount of perfectly sauteed tofu chunks, and some tasty cabbage and bean sprouts on top. Crushed peanuts and lime wedge in the corner, all came together for a great lunch. Next time I get food here, I’m getting dinner for my husband and I both, so we can share the pad thai, and try their curry. Good stuff mate, good stuff.

In 18 years of waitressing, 10 as a manager, I have NEVER yelled or argued with a customer. This mean, rude, condescending and snide(and I so just want to call her a bitch) woman screamed at me in the restaurant lobby for five minutes. They screwed up our order three separate times and all we wanted was to have what was not eaten do to their error, taken off. She refused, said that she didn’t care and that I could just go sit down and shut up. I was so infuriated I left the place and sat in the car until my family was done. She charged us full price and added more to the tip. She’s always there and the owner could give a rip. I don’t need to be abused when I go out for dinner. Not a good restaurant.

Wow, what a grouchy hostess/waitress. When I walked inside, the young lady who greeted me barely grunted an acknowledgement and asked how many people were in my party. When I told her it was just me, she rolled her eyes and walked me to a table. Seriously, she looked like she was thinking about spitting on me. She slammed a water down in front of me and disappeared back into the depths of Hades from which she emerged. Gratefully, she was not my waitress. The woman who took my order was actually somewhat pleasant. I ordered the Panang – extra hot. It was excellent. Loaded with lots of fresh green beans. I liked it. Really good Panang and at a reasonable price. Too bad that grouchy waitress almost ruined my appetite. This place is close to my work, so I’ll go back. Hopefully the Curry Nazi doesn’t work every afternoon.

This is probably the best thai food that you will find in Beaverton. And they deliver! I’ve actually only dined in one or two times. Thai Derm is perfect for those nights that you just want to kick it at home and have food come to you. Beats the hell out of pizza delivery and kicks butt on price compared to Delivered Dish. Every time I’ve had delivery, the food arrives piping hot! I’ve never been impressed with the noodle dishes. I want to like them, but every time I end up ordering one I am disappointed. The stir-fry dishes are wonderful. They serve it with plenty of sauce to soak up with an order of sticky rice. Veggies are always cooked well so they are tender but still a little crisp. Mmm Thai Derm.

I suggested Thai Derm for a large group dinner last night, it has always been a favorite, and I knew my friends would get a kick out of the fun seating. I called ahead and made a reservation for 9 people, hours in advance. The food was amazing, as always. But I was shocked at how lousy the service was! The server only took drink orders 1 time, despite additional members of our party joining our table. She never came over to take an appetizer order. When she finally took our food order, we had all arrived and been ready to order for at least 20 minutes. She never took a dessert order, and refills were rare. Like I said before, food was great. We get to the counter to pay, and the server WOULDNOT split our tab. Keep in mind, we filled the largest table they had, and were clearly not 1 big happy family. There were several couples and singles. We offered to calculate it out for her, and explained that there was nothing posted about payment restrictions. She kept saying we were all friends so it shouldn’t be a problem, and that she was too busy to split the order after the fact. We were the last table there! And she spent 5+ minutes arguing with us; that’s the time it would have taken to split the bill! After explaining that not one person wanted to cover the $ 100+ tab, she finally offered to split the tab into 5 even payments.(Not a great deal for the people that didn’t order drinks or came alone.) We all left annoyed, and vowing to never go back. I really do enjoy Thai Derm’s menu, but I have to take a stand against poor customer service. Never argue with your customers! Not only did she miss out on a large tip, but she lost 9 return customers for the restaurant. There are plenty of other amazing Thai restaurants closer to me, and with lower dinner prices, that I will give my money to. Sorry Thai Derm!

I’ve driven by this place a bunch and something about it never called out to me. It’s boring looking and something about it said dirty. When I asked for a good local Thai places my sister suggested Thai Derm. Skeptical, but hungry for Thai, I came in. I wanted to run the other way when I walked into an empty seating area that looked like a cafeteria. Luckily, a waiter whisked us to the back which was much more ascetically pleasing and had other people dining. The booths are clumsy, they are made to look like you’re sitting on the floor but really you just have to climb in, which I did very ungracefully. I got Chow Mein. I always get chow mein… it was alright. I also ordered a hot tea which was good. but not very hot. More adventurous boyfriend had pineapple curry which looked yummy. Everything else at the table looked good. Next time I go(If I do, I’m not dying to go back or anything) I’ll get something more fun, they had a lot of things to choose from. The prices are very reasonable. 4 of us ate for about 50 $ which included 2 beers. They give you punch cards which I like, for ever 5 $ you spend they give you a stamp and after and after getting 20 stamps you get 10 $ off your next visit. Also they have free delivery if you order more then 15 $ worth of food.

Thai derm is always great. We have tried so many Thai places. Everytime we hit this place it is awesome. They get a little busy and some of the wait staff doesn’t speka really great english, so make sure she repeats back your order. With that said, it’s a very clean place, without the usual GNATS that seem to plaque most Asain restaurants around the area. Try sitting in the Tatamie styled tables, they are cool.

This is probably one of my favorite places to go to eat Thai food. The atmosphere is very nice, and the staff are very friendly. I came here the other night with a group of friends and we all enjoyed it. We each ordered a dish and shared it with everyone(there was plenty of food for everyone). Each dish we had was very tasty. I also love how they offer unlimited refills on their Thai iced tea(I have never been to a place that does this)! I will for sure come back the next time I am craving Thai food!
