Siam Lotus Asian Kitchen & Bar

This is probably the best Thai food in Beaverton. Pad thai hits it in the spot with its tanginess and how it should burst with flavors in all directions. I’ve had too many bland pad thai at restaurants and there’s really nothing more disappointing than that. You won’t be disappointed here. Chicken wings are also worth checking out. The meat falls right off the bone, meaning they pre-​steam the wings. I like it like that. Maybe you don’t. Service is also very good here. They’re always happy to see you and make small talks even with to-​go customers.

The food taste as great as it looks. The service was 5 star all the way. I visit this awesome place everytime I’m in Oregon.

Pf Chang’s of Thai food? If you love Pf Chang’s, you’ll love it here. Nice resorty ambience, attentive service, tons of (white, no offense) families and crying kids. Flavor was extremely sweet from beginning to end, lacking the complexity of my expectations for a 4.5 rating on Unilocal.The protein in both my dishes were chewy and dry.
Would head over to Thai Noodles etc behind the theatre for less Americanized Thai food in Beaverton. If not, make the trek out to Tarad Thai Market in Portland.

So, I’m thinking for me at least, the Round is doomed.

Just not what I expected. Not stellar.
I do like Mio however, at least I think I do. Anyway.
I was super excited, given all the good reviews, to try this spot. Also, I think they’re related to Siam Thai on West Union and I appreciate that place a lot for the food and the service. Their flavors pop. So good. Seriously.
I went with a friend to Siam Lotus on a Saturday about 2 in the afternoon. It is hard to spot from the parking lot. It’s to the left of Mio and the door is around the corner. It was fairly empty inside. It is very clean and the décor is pretty nice. We were seated in a booth by the window. The tables move which made dining companion happy.
Our server brought us water and asked if we wanted to start with an appetizer and beverages. After a long while she brought us our calimari. It was hot, tender, and tasty but a bit oily. There was a touch of oil slick on the plate. There was a typical Thai dipping sauce accompanying the fish. Eh.
A while after that the server came back and took the rest of our order. I thought she might have taken it when she brought the tempura but she did not ask. So in between we had the pleasure of hearing her and the manager yelling at each other across the restaurant, as well as a woman yelling into her cell for ten minutes while standing at the door (holding it open to perfectly share the cold wind with us) in order to give her friends directions.
Sigh.
Our house curry (described as peanut and red curry) with chicken eventually arrived in a cute petite cauldron with a bowl of jasmine rice– I guess what would have come with it and the $ 1 extra rice that the server offered when she heard we were sharing. Allegedly. It wasn’t a ton of rice or curry. Dining companion had fretted that we had chosen too much food but no, we did not. And, the curry, while ordered medium, was not spicy or particularly flavorful. The chicken in the sauce was dry. There were a couple chunks of broccoli and alot of carrots and green peppers. Eh.
We also ordered Chiang Mai pork skewers. This appetizer consisted of four skewers of chewy, very lean pork stuck like glue on wooden skewers. The knife they supplied couldnt push it off, so we ate them like popsicles. They weren’t as laquered with sauce or caramelized as in all their press photos. This made me sad. They came with some chili dipping sauce and a little slaw like salad that was dressed with something that tasted like Miracle Whip to me. Eh.
We skipped dessert. (After this we headed to Jim and Patty’s for an espresso instead).
Our server disappeared for the entire meal, until at the very end when she refilled our water and then decided to bus our table while we were gathering cash and figuring out her tip. This involved her reaching between us for dirty dishes and utensils and making it pretty awkward while dining companion was passing me money and trying to decide her gratuity.(I usually do 18−25%.Sometimes as much as 30% if they’re amazing or I have my awful dad with me. Depends.)
Despite them helpfully suggesting a tip amount on our ticket (which just bugs me) she lost $ 1 doing that. I was irritated. The place was virtually empty and she could have waited to bus until we left. Seriously.
On the way out we noticed all other tables around us had cloth napkins (ours were paper). Fancier for dinner? I don’t know. It’s the same menu. I don’t think there are lunch specials. There is a happy hour with a big variety of eats and drinks, maybe that’s the thing to do here. *note I just saw their webpage says they have happy hour on Sat from 12 – 6. if they do it was never mentioned or offered to us.
I don’t think I will be back though. There is a lot of Thai to be had and we werent super impressed. Maybe a trip for happy hour but… maybe not.
On the way out I noted that Thai is usually comfort food for me and this experience… wasn’t comforting. Sad me.

Love it! Seriously best happy hour and service ever. Fastest service from the kitchen, awesome drinks– they make their own infused vodka and we loved everything! Especially the caramelized chicken, passion fruitini, crazy shrimp and chicken pad see ew. Wish I could try it all.

Went in on a slow Sunday afternoon for lunch. Inattentive bartender, food took way too long to arrive, small portions… At least the food tasted good, but there are way too many other options in the area to come back here.

Love this new Thai restaurant. The décor is amazing and not your typical mom and pop thai place. The plates come out beautifully decorated. I saw some new dishes on the menu I’ve never seen other places. Our server was great and happy to answer our questions. He was very knowledgable about everything on the menu.

I am very impressed with this restaurant, which has some of the best Thai food I’ve had so far. The flavors are fresh and delicious, the ingredients were cooked pretty much perfectly in what we had ordered, and the dishes are presented beautifully! The atmosphere is intimate and service great. I have no complaints for my experience at Siam Lotus.
Recommendations: their fried duck was really good, as well as their fried rice. Upon returning, I feel good about ordering anything and will probably love it.

Great place in Beaverton. Came for lunch and ended up sharing three appetizers: the chicken wings, Coconut shrimp, and crab rangoon. All three were very good, ingredients were fresh and really tasty. I also had a thai tea that was excellent. We’ll definately be back to try some entrees!

So so yummy! We had the southern herbal rice, chiang mai bbq pork, papaya salad, caramelized chicken wings, salmon mango salad, panang curry, and ended with the fried banana with coconut ice cream.
Everything was delicious and unique. It definitely rivals the thai food in Thailand. The salmon mango salad was unlike anything I’ve had. A must try. The décor of the restaurant is beautiful and chic. Great atmosphere with great food!

Really delicious and different tasting food! I loved the décor and fish tank.
Pros:
Thai Iced Tea — Creamy and delicious
Honey Crispy Chicken — YUM! Crispy, sweet and delicious. It seemed like it was overly crunchy, but the chicken was tender within. The sauce was not overly sweet.
Crispy Rolls — They were ok, nothing to write home about. Very filling for the cost and the plum sauce was great.
Cons:
Service — They forgot my Thai Iced Tea, I had to re-​park and go back in to retrieve it
Location — Now the location left something to be desired, only because of the heavy traffic, confusing parking lot and parking seemed like it was a mile from the location.

Came in for lunch after reading the reviews, definitely my favorite new spot. The Bangkok Beef Noodles were amazing… sweet, savory, so many favors, and love the wide egg noodles. A very unique dish and not one you’ll see just anywhere. Honey crispy chicken was also good. Only bummer for me was no Pad Kee Moa on the «lunch» menu, but it worked out because I may have gone «safe» and would’ve missed out on the BBN.
Addition: the Pad Kee Moa is the best on the west side, just a perfect balance of flavor a and consistency. The Carmelites wings are also delicious, and they now include a finger bowl afterwards (another reviewer mentioned the mess). Lastly, the herbal clam chowder is out of this world. If you love interesting twists on old favorites, than this is it. Delicious Thai flavors, that dance over a Classic clam chowder base.

Great happy hour! A drink purchase per person is required (does not have to be alcoholic). The spicy dishes can be ordered on a 1 – 5 scale of spiciness. I ordered level 2 spice and it added a nice kick without being overwhelming.
The Tom kha soup tastes just the way I wanted it to. I preferred the chicken pad see ew to the holy basil noodles, which seemed a little too salty for my taste. The HH portions are moderate, so it’s easy to try a few different dishes. I ordered a soup and a noodle dish, which was plenty with my cocktail.
The service is friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
The door is located on the MAX side of the shops, so from the parking lot it’s through the breezeway to the left of Pacific Eye clinic.

One of the best Thai restaurants I have ever been to! I have already lost count the number of times I’ve been here. We always order their chicken wings, crab rangoons, and we try our best to change up our noodle dishes
Our water glasses were never empty and they’re very attentive.
All the dishes has been very flavorful and it’s the only Thai restaurant I’ll go to when I am back in PDX to visit my hubby.
We never have to circle around for parking which is a plus. Ambience is nice and it makes our dining experience very comfortable. I’ll be coming back here again in a few weeks!

They truly deserve every star. I docked it one point because my panang beef was a bit tough and I was given white rice instead of brown.
Service was exceptional. Our water glasses were never empty. Big portions.
Pad Thai — for the first time, my husband did not finish his food. It was so flavorful through and through. I stole a few bites.
Panang Beef — like mentioned above, the beef was a little tough. It was fork tender like they promised. The curry was very smooth and aromatic. My mouth is watering as I’m writing this review.

Discovered a fabulous new Thai Asian Fusion place close to home tonight. Thank you Donna and Unilocal.Would have driven past it for years. We’ll be coming back for sure. Great fresh creative dishes. Mango Paradise and Duck BBQ were truly memorable. Started with Fresh rolls and finished with Homemade Coconut ice cream and fried banana. Wait staff and bus person were warm gracious and kind.

Came here with my son last night to use a Groupon. Siam Lotus is located right next to Mingo and Mio Sushi, both of which were packed, but Siam Lotus was curiously almost completely empty.
We were greeted and seated by a genuinely sincere and friendly hostess who was happy to see that we had the Groupon. She recommended the crispy honey chicken.
We were then greeted by a very friendly and competent waiter who offered to answer any questions about the menu. We ordered appetizers and drinks.
I was VERY impressed with the iced tea. I’ve honestly never had iced tea that was the perfect strength and had such a pleasant and complex depth of flavor. It was truly outstanding.
The basil crab rangoons were delivered first, and unlike every other Asian restaurant that uses won ton skins, these were actually stuffed pastries, much like empanadas. The crab flavor was a bit lacking, as was the basil, but overall, they were far better than average. My son said they were the best he’d ever had.
Slightly less successful were the caramelized chicken wings. They had a very nice flavor, but the thick sauce rendered the skin a bit soggy and rubbery. They were so heavily sauced that I wish they would have brought a finger bowl (like Spinella’s Off the Wall does).
The chicken pot stickers were honestly outstanding. Again, a very complex flavor palate and oustanding texture.
The theme of outstanding flavors and quality continued with the entrees. The recommended crispy honey chicken was mind-​blowingly good. I’ve never tasted a crispier fried chicken, and the light honey wasn’t too sweet or overwhelming. I’d strongly recommend this entrée to everybody.
We also got the beef house special curry, which is a house signature dish. The waiter offered a scale of 1 to 5 on the heat level, stating that «2» was «medium». I ordered a «3», and there was no discernible heat whatsoever. He brought us a «spice tray» which had Thai peppers, chili paste, chili flake, and jalapeño peppers which enabled us to turn the heat up. The Thai peppers were amazing. They were sweet, tasted pickled, and packed a mighty punch in the heat department. Aside from the heat level, the flavor of the curry was truly outstanding, and the beef was perfectly tender and had no fat or gristle. It was great to see such a wonderful preparation. It is a combination of a red curry and a peanut-​based sauce. My son eagerly devoured most of it.
Also noteworthy was the herbal clam chowder. I got the «cup» size, which was still huge. The broth was truly magical. You could easily tell it was a clam chowder, but it was so unlike any chowder I’ve ever had in my life. The herbs added such wonderfully complex bright and fresh overtones that the dish as a whole transcends description.
With such glowing reviews of how great the food was, why only two stars? Dessert was an absolute disaster, and the waiter’s handling of it was really bad. We took the waiter’s recommendation of the «fried banana with caramel coconut sauce» and added a scoop of the house-​made coconut ice cream. My son dug in and raved about how delicious it was. I dug in and found it absolutely disgusting, and not remotely tasting like banana. Why the difference? Take a look at my pictures. The dessert has banana-​stuffed pastries which are fried and look EXACTLY like the crab rangoons. Well, one of the four stuffed pastries in the dessert was, in fact, a crab rangoon. I brought this to waiter’s attention, and he said he was sorry. That was the extent of it. No offer to comp the dessert, no offers of discounts on a future visit, no escalation to the owner (who incidentally was the friendly person acting as the hostess that evening), just the apology. Now, if a restaurant pays that little attention to details, and cannot keep ingredients straight, I fear of taking my kids back there, who have lots of different allergies. I’m very thankful I wasn’t allergic to shellfish, or I would have been in BIG trouble from eating a crab rangoon dessert instead of banana.
Would I go back to SIam Lotus? I’m really not sure. All but the dessert were outstanding, but the dessert fiasco was SO bad that it may well have undone all of the good. It also seems risky to return because I can’t be sure that what is supposed to be in the food is actually what will be in the food.

Tried them out for lunch.
5 star for ambience. (They have a huge indoor and outdoor sitting)
4 star for service
3.5 star for pad Thai (excess of sweetness that I didn’t like)
5 star for green curry with tofu (just great)
Over all satisfying lunch experience. I will recommend this place if you are looking for good ambience and above average Thai food.
I will go again to try more options from the menu.

One night, having just forced down the majority of a bottled, green, celery-​heavy juice drink, I began craving delicious Thai noodles. Wanting to try somewhere new in the neighborhood, I came across Siam Lotus and remembered that I had previously spotted it during my trial 24 Hour Fitness membership.
I decided on Basil Noodles w/​Chicken for takeout. The person on the other end of the phone was very friendly and inquired about the spice level, explaining that they use a 1 – 5 rating system for heat. I opted for a 1. He said it would be ready in about 10 minutes and that he would include additional spice on the side in case I wanted to increase it a bit.
Showed up and paid for my order. Someone brought it from the back and I headed out to my car. I then realized they hadn’t included a fork, which would be an issue since I wasn’t going directly home. This meant I had to walk all the way back to the restaurant, which normally isn’t an issue, but it was windy and pretty cold out. They also didn’t include any of the spices on the side as they said they would.
The dish was delicious. Maybe it could have been a bit spicier, but really it was quite good the way it was prepared. I would happily order it again, although I’m also curious to see what else they have.
