There are certain times in my Unilocaly life when I wish I could give more than a 5-​star review. So, dear readers, please add an extra star to this company because they more than deserve it.
It was a chilly Sunday in Bellingham, the Seahawks were playing, and all was right in my little world as the hubby, kids, and I settled in for Thanksgiving leftovers and to take in the big game against the Steelers. It was one of those moments that’s perfect, even though you don’t realize it until a few days later. The chaos started when one of the kids yelled from the master bathroom… sort of a frantic-​but-​not-​full-​panic «Hey mommmmm???» that got my attention but did not seem serious enough to knock the hubby out of his football haze. I hurried down the hall to be greeted by a bathroom full of Really Stinky Water. I won’t go into great detail, but think about your last visit to a Port-​a-​Potty and you get the drift (pun intended). Several hours later, and knee deep in you-​know-​what in our basement, most of the initial damage was contained but it was clear a professional needed to be brought in. It was late, so we banished the kids from the bathrooms and went to bed. First thing the next morning, I searched Unilocal for «Rooters.»
Up popped several choices, but the first one I noticed was CR Plumbing & Construction and I was extra-​thrilled that not only did they have a good rating by my local Unilocaling compadres, they also offered the option to receive a quote directly through Unilocal.I do love convenience! I typed out a quick message describing our problem, and eagerly awaited a response. Meanwhile, I called a couple of other places and was either told a flat out no (it was, apparently, a busy weekend for emergency plumbing problems in the Ham) or just got an answering machine. I sent the hubby off to work and dove in to my morning routine. Soon I heard that reassuring «beep» of a new Unilocal message received, and was delighted at a very professional reply from Chris of CR Plumbing, as well as an extremely reasonable quote (and don’t we all love reasonable quotes, especially during the holiday shopping season). He said he had a morning job to complete but would meet me at our house in the early afternoon. I breathed a sigh of relief — we’d be back in the bathroom business by nightfall!
If only my story ended there. But things got worse — not in the plumbing arena, but in the family-​medical-​emergency arena! Shortly after talking to Chris on the phone and setting up the appointment, I received a call and had to rush to the emergency room. I hastily texted Chris, apologizing that I would not be home and saying we’d have to reschedule. You know what he said? He said don’t worry, I’ll still come over and take care of it and we can settle up later. This man who I had never met (except through Unilocal) actually came to my house, rooted out our backed-​up sewage pipe, and tested everything to make sure it worked… and I never even met him.
This, my friends, is what local business is all about. It’s what community is all about. And it’s what makes me prouder than ever to live in wonderful, eclectic, beautiful ol’ Bellingham. Thank you, Chris! You are a true professional.

He finally came by after numerous messages for an estimate and told us he would send an official quote. He never responded. Was planning to hire him based on the good vibe we got when we met him but the lack of response is a turn off.

Chris might be pretty decent at his job. Maybe all other 5 stars reviews are just completely overrated. Truth is, we never even got to find out. He completely flunk at his assignment by not even showing up and not even bothering to call and explain. Moreover, he didn’t just waste my entire morning waiting on him, and also made me miss the chance to find another plumber to come in on A Friday. In short, very disappointing experience! Think twice before using this guy!

I began a DIY project and failed. I tried a previous contractor but I must have annoyed him away with all my questions.
Chris has an excellent bedside manner, and professionalism. I called and texted Chris about my repair problem for a week and he didn’t lose his cool or get mad. I would call Chris again if I needed help.

Chris and his man were awesome! Was very polite, thorough and straightforward with the job and cost. Had him replace leaky shower valve cylinder. Used a Unilocal deal and he even cut a little bit more of the cost off that. I’ve gone through a few other 5 star Unilocal plumbers for miscellaneous jobs in the past few months and Chris was by far the best. He is someone I will definitely be using him in the future.

I’ve used this company for a few projects and I have had a really good experience. They do good work & are very reliable. You get what you pay for when it comes to contractors and when it comes to my home, I would rather pay for a good plumber who can get everything done right and leave us with a quality product time & time again.

CR Plumbing has been consistently excellent and reliable ever since we were lucky enough to discover them. Their service is of the highest caliber and the most up front and honest, extremely fair. You can always depend on getting a true explanation and a fair price for a job well done every time. It is very refreshing to find such honesty and pride in their workmanship. Chris did a great job on remodeling two bathrooms in my condo. It was not cheap, but worth it. Every time I use them, it makes me smile.

It’s really simple. All you want is (1) a plumber who will give you an up-​front quote regarding the job at hand, (2) show up on time at the time agreed upon, (3) stick with the price agreed upon, (4) clean up after doing the job, and (5) let you know the reason (s) why the item repaired/​replaced broke down and how to lengthen its life.
Chris did all of the above. He says he strives to be the best. Guess what, Chris, you’ve achieved your goal. Thanks for the excellent service.

I am a owner of single family home in Westchester. I met Chris for the first time five years ago when I had a small leak that needed fixing. Two other «supposed» professionals had already worked on it and not gotten very far. In fact they had ruined the job and made things worse than before. Chris came in and fixed it in 20 minutes. Chris’ rates were higher but ended up costing me significantly less.
Since then Chris has become my goto guy for all my plumbing needs. Chris is extremely competent and I am always amazed at how much he knows. Other plumbers that I have known wander in a haze of confusion by comparison.
In addition Chris is extremely punctual and a good communictor. I will unhesitatingly recommend him to anybody.

Needed lots of little repairs done to a rental home built in the 50’s, in particular a shower handset that I tried to remove myself. Somehow Chris and his man Brady managed to save the valve (an estimated $ 700 savings) and replace the handset I had ruined. All without needing to replace one single shower tile.
I’ve worked with a lot of plumbers, and I can tell you confidently that these guys are as good as it gets. These aren’t Mike Diamond/​Roto Rooter journeymen. Chris is a master craftsman, and his guys are absolutely professional,

I needed to replace the thermocouple on my water heater. This is a simple procedure if you know what you’re doing. But I didn’t, I don’t like screwing around with gas and I needed to get the hot water working again stat. So I called around a few highly rated plumbers off of Unilocal.It was a Thursday morning. One of them said they couldn’t get out there until Saturday. Another said they normally charge $ 150 for that plus the part. That’s crazy because I know it should take half hour to do at most.
I live close to Chris so he was able to come by right after I got off work in the evening. It took him all of 20 minutes to replace. He honored his Unilocal discount and it ended up being half of what the other plumber quoted. This was a really small job but I would contact him again if I had some other plumbing issues because he was easy to deal with and straightforward.
