These guys were top notch. I hate, hate, hate moving, and they made it very painless. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly. Did a great job packing. A single relatively cheap lamp I had ended up a little busted at the end of the move, and they just offered right there and then to credit the amount from the total bill. Some of the most honest, friendly movers I’ve ever worked with.

Fantastic moving company. Had great experiences from beginning to end, and felt very taken care of. Will definitely be using this company for any of my future moves in the Bay Area, and would recommend them to anyone who is looking too.

Our 1^st move in 20 years and these guys were wonderful. From Sean’s initial response to our great crew today: Fred, Thomas and Swau-​va. They were respectful to us and our stuff. Good attitude all around, and fun to hang out with– all 3 made the stress of moving way less stressful. On time, friendly, quick, and efficient: what more could you ask for? Oh yeah, this: they are even reasonably priced.

Fantastic and easy move! (Even though it was from Berkeley to mountain view) The guys were super nice and were patient while I kept deciding how to organize furniture in my room. Great price, and worth every dollar. I would recommend these guys to anyone looking to move!

Very friendly staff. Moved our large furniture from a small 1 bedroom apartment about 5 miles in less than 3 hours. They showed up a half hour early which was fine with me since I wasn’t charged any extra time. I would definitely use them again.

These are the best movers. Ever. Best. Ever.
I hate moving mostly because dealing with movers can be so awful, in addition to the pain of packing alllll of my belongings up and dealing with the logistics. I’ve had movers throw a $ 1300 mattress over a flight of stairs, damaging it permanently, then not comp me on the damages. Could definitely live without that experience during a move.
Movers Anonymous came highly recommended from friends. They were polite and worked hard. They treated my belongings like they were all fragile and deserving of extra care. They were also remarkably quiet and organized during the job. It was very impressive. They were extremely respectful and professional, both the office/​admin staff and the movers. Painless experience.
Another thing: No hidden charges. The office person explained in detail everything he needed for my job and all the costs that I’d be charged for. Nothing was left out. I paid exactly what I was told I’d be charged before the move.

Nope. I don’t get it. Why so many positive reviews? Maybe I am the only customer in the company’s history that had a bad experience.
I found MA on Unilocal after searching for a very high-​rated mover. Left a voicemail and got a returned call the very next day. The man on the line was extremely friendly and helpful and managed to help me schedule a SAME-​DAY move for that afternoon — luckily, I had only one bedroom’s worth of stuff, and I was looking to move ASAP. I was pleased with our interactions, and he sent me a truck with 2 guys to help me move 1 king bed, 1 dresser, 2 nightstands, 1 bookcase, and about 5 or 6 boxes. Nothing major.
The truck showed up right on time… but I couldn’t tell it was my movers because the truck was unmarked and had graffiti on the sides barely painted over. I didn’t like that sign at all.
The movers parked and came up into the apartment, REEKING of marijuana. It was a 2pm move and obvious they had just taken a lunch break and gotten high. I am a small girl and was at the house alone and NOT looking to cause trouble, so I said nothing… I didn’t know what to say, and didn’t want two people in charge of moving my stuff angry with me.
The guys were totally out of it and it took them 2 HOURS to move the aforementioned items out of a second-​story home. I had a 3 hour minimum, so it barely mattered, but I was shocked. They wrapped my expensive mattress so poorly in plastic that it was bending over, causing a large crease down the middle. And they ignored the mattress bag I had purchased and provided them to avoid having to use the plastic.
When the move out of the house was done, they stood outside of their truck smoking cigarettes and said they’d meet me at the storage unit. Once at the storage unit, things went okay, but still a bit slower than would be reasonable.
I’ve moved many, MANY times, in and out of houses and apartments and cross-​country, and this was my worst moving experience. Having my two movers show up HIGH and be unable to understand how to properly wrap a mattress was truly shocking. PLUS, this place makes you pay in cash… CASH? I spent hundreds of dollars on a move that is no untraceable? WAY too weird for me.

I just read the owner’s response, and this is not quite what happened. Here’s my reply:
1) Regarding the theft, it wasn’t an unknown quantity. Also, the guys worked hard, and I’d had a previous great move, so I didn’t want to embarrass the owner on a public forum. But since he brought it up, I’ll respond. I had counted the money in my wallet the night before — over $ 150 went missing, which is over half of what was in the wallet. Not a small amount, and very noticeable. I went over the details with Sean and the other employee. I told Sean that I wouldn’t mention it in the Unilocal review because I didn’t want to embarrass the guy, not because I had ‘dirty laundry’ (what is that supposed to mean?). I discussed it with the other employee because I thought he should know since this was his partner, but did not press it further. I liked the guy in question, he’s young, and people do stupid things when they’re young. Hopefully, this won’t happen to another client.
2) Double drive time: as I explained in the review, since I did not get a confirmation one way or the other that I would have to pay it prior to the move, I DID agree to pay for the drive back. As for «You agreed to the double drive and I made you say it on the phone when you booked», that is absolutely not true. [In fact, note to Sean: this is why I didn’t call you back on the phone. Once you said that I had explicitly agreed to pay for the drive back, I realized that the rest of our communications needed to be in writing and documented, so that we didn’t have a ‘he said, she said’ conversation. Most importantly, though, what difference does it make, since I agreed to pay for the drive back anyway?] As I indicated, prior to the move, Sean didn’t say that he would NOT charge me, just that he hadn’t yet decided. What I did NOT agree to was to pay 2 ½ hours for a drive that clearly took no more than an hour. Again, it would have taken that long if they’d driven 22 MPH all the way back on Routes 101 & 80, a 55 mile trip back to their Berkeley location in free flow traffic (again, I left half an hour after they did, and the freeway was clear). They would have been pulled over by the CHP for driving that slow. That is my one and only claim. I made no other claim for damages or return of any other money, did I, Sean?
3) As for the damage, the stereo console’s door hinge was tweaked, and wouldn’t close, but this was repaired right away by the senior employee. The guys Sean hires are very competent and professional, and they know what they’re doing. Unfortunately, the wood on the left side of the wooden case had been damaged at the bottom. I pointed this out when I saw the cabinet come off the truck. Sean and I went over this, so I don’t know why he keeps ‘forgetting’ what I wrote him, that being that the wood was damaged, not the glass door. I did not ask him to pay for repairs. I just pointed this out when he got upset about my request for return of the overcharges for drive time, that being that I was not asking him to pay for repairs on the cabinet.
4) «This all probably would have gone the other way if Karin had not pressured us on an extremely busy weekend (she messaged on July 3^rd and was livid for a response by July 5^th, was kind of hostile, and threatened to Unilocal if she didn’t hear back right away.)» Livid? Here’s what I wrote after two days of not hearing from the owner:
I really would like an answer to this. I don’t want to have to post this on Unilocal.Also, did you speak with Fred about what else happened?
That’s not livid. That’s more of a ‘hey, is there anybody out there?’ I looked at the rest of my e-​mails, and they were also polite to the end. Again, I will refer to the fact that all of our post-​move ‘discussions’ were e-​mailed on my part, and texted by Sean. Everything I sent is in writing. Sean, copy and paste where I was ‘livid’. You’re not going to find it.
5) «Basically, ‘Sean not being pretty to you’ translates to ‘I didn’t get my way’ and I’m upset. He should give me some money back!» I had politely e-​mailed Sean that I felt that I had been overcharged on the drive back. After reading his second reply, I realized that the overcharge would absolutely not be returned. I was willing to overlook the missing money and the damaged furniture. I was not happy about the overcharge, but if Sean had been more professional about it, I would not have written this review (I just would have stopped recommending them). But bottom line, his e-​mails to me resembled his response to my review — insults and accusations that I was trying to scam him out of money. It’s all right here — I don’t need to copy and paste the texts I received. After a few of these insults, I’d had it. Thus the review.

Sean, Fred and other two members helped me move in the end of June, 2015.
I met them at a friend’s place to pick up a few things before loading things up in my own apt.
I had a lot of stuff, and some boxes were full of books, and they literally had no complaints.
A lamp got broken, and a sofa couldn’t be reassembled back bc some lost screws that fell into the wood compartments. Fred had another job afterwards, and promised he would buy the proper bolts to repair the sofa.
and he came back to fix the sofa, and it was sturdier than before the move!
Fred was courteous and these two other guys, students from Ireland, did a great job.

Sean was prompt in his response and very clear and friendly. The price is better than any other moving company around and these guys are extremely professional.
Duncan and his assistant arrived on time. They wrapped and padded corners, they made sure things were taken to the right location, and even made a second stop with no additional charge. They were courteous and efficient. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!
They moved me from west Berkeley to the inner richmond.

This is the best moving company around the east bay! I have moved plenty of times and this move was by far the best.
Last minute call the night before and they were able to fit me in early morning during the busiest time of the year (move out for college students and summer leases).The two gentlemen arrived promptly at 9 (when the window was between 9 and 10) and quickly moved my things out of my Berkeley apartment. They were efficient, fast, had proper wrap and blankets and took incredibly careful care of my belongings.
Yes, they are insured. Yes, they have a big enough truck. And yes, they are way worth it. They do not charge some crazy flat rate fee; instead you get exactly what you pay for: great great great service.

These guys are amazing! We ended up moving from a small 2 bedroom to a large home. I thought for sure we would need a small truck. They brought the big one just in case. We filled the whole thing. Then they had to drive up a hill in Montclair in the rain. It was raining and they took amazing care not to get any dirt/​mud in our home. I will always use them!!!

These guys are great! Very friendly, courteous and professional. My boyfriend and I moved from a small, one bedroom apartment into a new 5 bedroom house. It took two men about 4 hours to go up and down two flights of stairs to get everything packed up into a huge truck, then another hour to get it all into the house, all the while they were in great spirits. They asked us where we would like our stuff, and if we wanted it wrapped. We had a great experience with these movers.
Only thing that I didn’t like is that they were scared of my dog! Jk my dog is crazy so I don’t blame them.
One of the guys dropped a cheap mirror, brought it back upstairs to show us, and said he would pay for it! We were totally okay with it, it was just a cheap $ 15 mirror from target. Poor guy looked so sad.
They never once complained, were very helpful and knew what they were doing. I will use again if I ever move in the future.

These guys did a fantastic job moving me from one East Bay home to another — and I loved that Sean, the owner, called the night before to confirm and see if I had any questions. This was the second time I’ve used MA and I’d use them again!

Awesome guys. Was very very pleased. Was getting my living room, kitchen and dining room ready for hardwood floors, so we could stage it. They packed everything so well into a few rooms that my nightmare of having every room packed to the gills never happened– the house remained usable and showable because they were so efficient.
Highly recommended.

It hurts me to write this review because in the past I have RAVED and recommended these movers to anyone who even dreamt of moving.
I have used M.A. twice. Once in 2010 and once in 2011. I not only told the movers how they were the best and tipped accordingly I even wrote Sean the owner to let him know how great they were.
Fast forward to August 2014. We had a complicated move, which I stated in my very detail email. I suggested the movers the most comprehensive way to move out of our place into the Pods… well…they kinda did it backwards and ended up wasting a lot of time and even banged up one of the floor boards moving a L-​shaped Couch (which was not meant to come through the house at all) through the house out the front door. Anyways… the guys Fred and Ronnie were nice guys and hard workers. But the move took probably an hour or so longer than it should of.
When I called Sean with my grievances (I did so with a heavy heart and expressed that to him). He was rude and cold and accused me of cheating him out of 80 dollars because I was confused about the set up fee. Although his employee gave me a bill I paid exactly what the bill had written on it. So HIS employee mis calculated. I was told that «I should have known because I know his {his} company works»…
I was absolutely offended. I hired them 3 times in 4 years. He didn’t offer to accommodate me at all even though my husband whom is a real estate agent talks up his business to all of his clients whom buy homes. To accuse me of deliberately stealing $ 80 buy not paying him. (A woman who has hired him more than once) is too much. His employees only take cash after the move, they did NOT give me a receipt and then had me feel out a questionnaire about how my move meant. It was not even an anonymous questionnaire?!? One of the questions is, «did anything get broken in the move?» How should I know? We hadn’t unpacked anything yet. I wrote…“not sure yet”.
Unfortunately the floor board is damaged as well as a dresser drawer handled that was badly bent.
The 3 stars are an average of the other moves. The first move was a 5
the second a 4.5 (the movers were a tad late but worked like mules… btw… Those gentlemen no longer work with Mover’s Anonymous which is a shame).
The third move is a 2 because the guys (who I did have some issues with i.e. the floorboard damage, leaving behind their trash on my property, taking a break only 2 hours after arriving when they knew one Pod needed to be packed by 1pm) were really nice guys and hard workers.
Unfortunately Sean was very unprofessional when dealing with a disgruntled thrice repeat customer whom previously has given him nothing but kudos.

We moved yesterday, and used Movers Anonymous for the first time. Fred, Ronnie, and Caurell were on time, kind, courteous, and completely professional — for all of the 11 hours that our move took.
We moved from an easy-​access 2 BDR 1 BTH to a more complicated (lots of little levels and stairs) 4 BDR 3 BTH in Berkeley. All three guys were super patient and careful, even when they had to carefully strategize how to get awkward furniture up and around curves/​staircases, etc. We also worked out a solution for picking up my piano from a different house (very close by), and moving it on the same day. Sean was easy to get in touch with and very professional and easy to deal with. Expectations were clear and our every expectation was exceeded.
I can’t say enough about Fred, Ronnie and Caurell — the amount of energy and vigor and unfailing kindness they maintained all day was amazing. They asked at the end of the day to walk through both the old house and the new house and make sure that everything was both taken out of the old house that we needed and then placed in the correct location in the new house.
Use these guys — feed them well at lunch — they provide a service well worth the cost.

I am so impressed with the top notch job delivered by Tim and Rodney during my recent move. My move was a difficult one with three stops and way more stuff than I estimated. To say the Tim and Rodney did a great job is really an underestimate. They were very professional and patient and made all of the right decisions. My job was a long job and we could have used a couple of more guys but Tim and Rodney stuck it out till the end. They took great care in moving everything. Sean was very helpful on the phone in setting up the job and if I ever move again (which I hope I don’t) i will definitely call on Movers Anonymous to help! I wish I could give more than five stars.

Trust.
It’s absolutely the most important thing you need in movers, and I trust Movers Anonymous with all of my personal belongings. They met all of my high expectations in a move from the top floor of a 3.5 story walk-​up in San Francisco to a house up a flight of stairs in Berkeley. I decided a 3-​man crew would be best since I had a few large pieces of furniture and many, many stairs. It was the right choice.
Chris, Sean G and Ronnie were all stellar movers. They moved incredibly quickly and efficiently, and even helped consolidate some of my smaller items into larger boxes for me. They have great technique with straps can carry what seems to be an extraordinary amount of weight on their backs. They took care to use pads and shrink wrap to cover and protect all of my potentially breakable items.
Everything about the move was smooth — no problems with getting large items down the stairs and they took utmost care with all my items. They walked through doorways carefully, always called out to look out for potential obstructions.
They also took care to make sure someone was watching the stuff on the truck — I was moving out of Hayes Valley and at times there can be people who are looking to potentially nab something. They kept an eye out and it’s very possible I could have lost something valuable if they hadn’t.
All in all, they were super efficient. I moved my 1BR across the bay in 4 hours, including driving time. Their rates are fair and they worked quickly to be time efficient. I would highly, highly recommend these guys for any Bay Area move. You will not be disappointed and you will feel SO much better about moving.

Again, I have to reiterate my review from two years ago. I used Movers Anonymous for my third (and I hope final) move. I am shocked by how smooth it all went. From the planning phase, when Sean was extremely patient and strategic in our scheduling. His calm demeanor and solution-​focused manner gave me such peace of mind. I again had Chris’s crew (Ronney and Shawn) for the move. They were extremely fast, professional, and borderline magicians in their packing of the truck. Nothing was broken, it all happened more quickly than I anticipated, and they were extremely careful and professional in their moving. This is truly as good as it gets. I would ONLY use Movers Anonymous and would recommend them to anyone.
One tip. Getting an initial callback is the only challenge. I knew this so by planning several weeks in advance and trusting their callback I was still able to get everything planned well in advance with no stress. That’s just the nature of this business. You of course can’t expect movers to stop the move they’re on to schedule your move. And when Sean does call back, often in the evening, he’ll ALWAYS call to maintain your peace of mind and he’ll be patient in your discussion. So the tip is, as soon as you know, even if you are still working out the date, call as soon as you can to give them time to get back to you. Once you have a date scheduled, the responses are quick and easy. 5 star service.
