RUDE, OBNOXIOUS, ARROGANT! I «met» Dr. Foxman in the hospital (Cedars-​Sinai) on the day after my hip replacement surgery. He burst into my room (the door was closed and the curtain was pulled across) as I was lying on the bed having my dressing changed. He didn’t introduce himself so after a couple of his loud comments, I finally said, «Who are you?» He told me he was an internist there in place of my surgeon to examine me for release from the hospital.
Then, out of the blue, without any warning, he asked me why I was on HRT (hormone replacement therapy)…NOTHING to do with him or hip replacement surgery! Then he began a harangue about the evils of HRT. His manner was sneering and disdainful. He presumed I didn’t know anything about the subject, questioned my judgement, mocked and disparaged my hormone doctor, scared me with threats of risks and early death from HRT, and, in my humble opinion, was flat out wrong about some of his information. He went on and on loudly lecturing and chiding me for being so ignorant and foolish.
Dr. Foxman behaved in an arrogant, inappropriate, almost bullying manner. He was totally out of line to come into my room and scare me with his unsolicited opinions while I was lying in a bed trying to heal a day after surgery. He is not a healer and knows nothing about healing. He would rather use scare tactics to force someone into compliance with his opinions than educate and present good solid information.
The modern Hippocratic Oath says: «I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon’s knife or the chemist’s drug». Dr. Foxman violated the oath of his profession. He would do well to review it and renew his commitment to it.
The man is a nut case.

After years of bouncing between HMOS and their designated PCPs, I landed a job with decent insurance (Aetna) And I’ve had more health problems in the past 6 months than my entire life, so my g.f. asked for a name by her well-​known internist/​GP at Cedars and I was sent to Dr. Foxman.
He’s a consummate pro. Answers and elaborates on any questions I have. Explains treatment options. And more than anything, I feel he genuinely cares about myself and my health. He’s encouraging — doesn’t lecture. And looks at the long run of my health And when I’ve had questions, I’ve emailed him a variety of occasions and he’s always responded quickly and with an answer or refers me to someone who can.

0 star. BEWARE OF THIS DOC AND HIS MOBILE SERVICE!!!
Horrible, horrible, horrible! We referred a patient for home visit under his mobile doc service. They were so eager to provide the service and then it went downhill from there. it wasn’t even the doctor that visited the patient, it was one of his PAs. Several times we called the office to speak to the doctor or PA and they were never available. The staff referred us to a dedicated number which transferred us to their call center in the Philippines. It was difficult to coordinate anything with them cause we had to adjust our calls to their time zone. If we weren’t desperate to have a mobile doc come out and see the patient we would have never used him. We should have believed all these negative reviews on Unilocal and other sites.

He is always available when I need something and has become my primary since looking for one for many years I could trust in.

EVIL, AWFUL, STUPID. Those words can’t even BEGIN to describe Dr. Foxman and his staff of idiots. He is a liar, completely incompetent, and doesn’t give a rat’s ass about anything other than money. His nurse, Lana, who was doing a routine procedure, caused me PERMANENT DAMAGE. Dr. Foxman knew this, and still had the balls to CHARGE ME. If you value your time, money and health, absolutely stay AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE MAN AND HIS OFFICE.

This guy is a TOTAL SCAM. He is only there to milk money from you and insurance companies. I went to him for a first time visit because I needed a new GP in the area. We went thru the normal interview for a first time patient, took 10 minutes. I asked a few questions and he was helpful at the time. BUT THEN I received his bill and he was billing for EXTRA TIME spent with me. I complained to my insurance and they said he can do that if he spent a lot of time addressing multiple issues. THAT IS CALLED A SCAM! His office people are not helpful and very dismissive. I turned down all his additional weight loss and cosmetic surgery suggestions — more ways for him to make some $$$ from you. I will be filing additional complaints with authorities. DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR.

Dr Alex Foxman and his Mobile Physicians service is very flawed. I had to wait over a month to get my blood test results, and the receptionist, jacq, was very unprofessional, my messages were not being relayed to the doctor, and their online patient portal was useless, as my emails were never responded to concerning my care. Dr Foxman seems not to care about me as a patient, and the communication is the worst Ive ever had with a physician. I am very unhappy with the time wasted, continuous messages i left for Dr Foxman that were never responded to. I feel he needs to hire a more efficient front desk staff, it is not professional at all, and i feel as a patient to warn others about the Mobile Service. Dr Foxman told me today very curt and short with me, that he would not be able to be my doctor anymore. I left a message for the Dr to please write me back to confirm reciept of my email, before confirming my last appointment for Dr Foxman to make a home visit, and he never called to discuss my concerns and emails. I called to see why my messages werent being responded to for over a month, and I even sent 2 messages to his receptionist, jacq, who seems to not take her job seriously. Very poor service. I feel they only care about making money charging insurance, and not a good bedside manner. Patient beware. this is not a practice that cares about its patients and I am very dissapointed with all the frustration and time wasted trying to communicate with Dr foxman, who doesnt like to speak with the patients… I will find a new PCP who is more professional and cares about the quality of care for patients, especially since Im disabled… I am not happy with the rudeness of Dr foxman and his staff! I EVEN HAD MADELINE FROM MY SPINE SPECIALIST CALL 2 TIMES TO ASK WHY IT WAS TAKING OVER A MONTH TO GET MY BLOOD TEST RESULTS AND EKG RESULTS BACK. SHE COULDNT GET THROUGH TO ANYONE TO SPEAK TO IN PERSON EITHER, SO I HAVE THEM AS WITNESSES TO THE INCOMPETENCE OF HIS PRACTICE AS WELL. RUDE STAFF, RUDE DOCTOR, NOT RECCOMMENDED!

In search of a new GP I went to Dr. Foxman. I explained that I wanted to lower my medical costs, because my other docs now must charge facility fees. My physical was uneventful. Although Dr. Foxman was approachable and conversant with me, he seemed a bit detached, and spent a lot of time typing on his laptop, instead of interacting with me. I understand that he needs to record info about my medical history (which I provided on a two page printout), but the experience seemed a little awkward. Although I didn’t have any immediate issues, there was no real «physical» exam performed. If a doctor, especially a male, doesn’t examine your private parts, especially when you’re a male, I sort of wonder how thorough we’re being. Moving on, we ran a few blood tests, and I had to ask for the results because the office doesn’t automatically send them to you. In fact, they’d had the results for many days in one case, and in the other, the response was «oh, nothing was found so we didn’t notify you.» And that was several weeks afterwards… this lack of a protocol to notify patients about results seems a little disorganized and lacking in proactive communication. and detached. The real jolt was when I got home and looked through the paperwork. Other reviewers aren’t kidding when they mention that Dr. Foxman wants patients to pay an additional $ 250 «membership fee,» to be in the Dr. Foxman Club. Hmmm… seems like he might have mentioned that during the visit, but no. I thought that was quite odd. I prefer more transparency and honesty when dealing with people, and I think it would have been a good idea to mention this up front when we were talking about fees. Maybe he probably knew that I would be a one-​timer, and figured it wasn’t going to matter. Well, that’s correct, I won’t be going back. So, I’m still looking for the new GP. For what it’s worth, I have yet to find a local doc who comes close to Dr. David Zingmond and UCLA. The rub there is the $ 200 facility fee that is charged for each appointment. Maybe I just have to accept that cost and go back to him.

PATIENT BEWARE!
I have been a patient of Dr. Foxman for 3 years now and at first I was totally «wowed» by his personal attention. But after my first year of visits (for annual physical and an unfortunate bronchitis), he completely changed.
Here’s the BAD:
1) You have to pay $ 250/​year patient fee. For the «privilege» of being his patient. This is supposed to get you more access, all I found was that he took my money.
2) OVER BILLING and FRAUDULENT BILLING
Dr. Foxman is in my network and he has a contract with my insurance company to accept the agreed to rate and my $ 25 co-​pay. Almost every visit after my first he sends me bills for the difference between what the insurance company covers and his charges. EVERY TIME I have to call and remind his staff that I am «in network» and they can’t legally bill me. They then remove the charge. But how many people don’t know their rights and just pay?!? This is fraud.
3) LACK OF BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE
Recently, as in two days, I requested a simple TB test that was required for a school volunteer program. After begging, they «squeezed» me into their schedule (so much for that $ 250 patient access fee!). My school wants a note from the office of exactly when I took the TB test and when the results were read. They refuse to provide anything, not even a letter! (WHAT DOES MY $ 250 patient get me?!?) I have to get a second rest at a different office now. It’s absurd.
4) OVER SELLING WEIGHT LOSS PRODUCTS
Dr. Foxman is a total weight loss program/​drug pusher. I am fairly healthy male in my early 30’s. yes, I should lose 20lbs. But I also a lot of muscle and an active lifestyle (I just finished my first Ironman Triathlon!). Every year he would tell me I am obese and need his weight loss program/​drugs.
5) WRONG PRESCRIPTIONS
My insurance company, like many, forces me to use mail order pharmacy for 90 day supply of «maintenance» medicines (such as Singulair). On NUMEROUS occasions he has ordered me a totally different medicine and the wrong quantity forcing me to pay extra for the medicine. He is totally inept at times.

Dr. Foxman and his entire staff are incredible. He is by far the best GP I have ever had. I was very sorry to move out of state and leave the 10 year relationship I had built as a patient of Dr. Foxman. It is hard to find such great and knowledgeable service. I never felt like a commodity. Dr. Foxman takes the time, he goes above and beyond in all cases. You are a cut above the rest Dr. Foxman. Thank you for everything.

In November an older MD friend told me about the days when your physician would take the time talk to you in her/​his office before examining you. Other people at the dinner table mentioned that they are at all times wearing a gown when they see their MDs. Just a month later, I had a first appt with Dr Alex Foxman. I am new to town and needed a primary care physician, and he is covered by my insurance. Dr. Foxman sat down with me in his office and spent time hearing all of my concerns before examining me in an exam room.
Here is what is much more impressive:
While l was sitting on the exam table, Dr Foxman asked me if I am a vegetarian. He noticed that my skin of the corner of my mouth was dry and said it could be a sign of anemia (he gave the skin condition some technical name I can’t recall). Foxman took blood tests and I was indeed anemic. He sent me my blood results and recommendations on Dec 31 late afternoon. I emailed him a few questions that evening and he replied, though it was New Year’s Eve.
I had been dizzy for months and other docs told me to eat more salt to raise my blood pressure, which did not help. The dizziness went away with iron supplementation that Dr Foxman had me purchase over-​the-​counter at my pharmacy – I.e., he wasn’t tuning into my anemia with an aim to sell supplements (thank goodness).
I wasn’t sure about the doc at first because his bedside manner was business only, but who really cares. I’d much rather that my doc use his focus to notice such nuances that affect my well-​being than to engage in idle chit chat.
I’m glad I scored so well and found a such a good primary care doc.

I was referred to Dr. Foxman by another doctor– an orthopedic surgeon who is also a patient of Dr. Foxman. I knew he’d be a great doctor if other doctors put their health in his hands. He has always nailed diagnoses for me– one visit or email is all that it takes. He is thorough and really seems to be knowledgable. He is very, very accessible, often answering my emails late at night — even on weekends. I live far from his office, and can often resolve issues via email without a long trip down or an office visit charge. His office staff is professional, and the office is well-​run with appointments always being on time. I think it’s very important to have an internist at a top hospital, so I also value his relationship with Cedars-​Sinai. I highly recommend Dr. Foxman.

This «Doctor» warrants no stars at all. I wish I had read these reviews before going because, as many other patients stated, he charged my insurance for several unnecessary tests, which I ended up having to pay for. Also, during my visit, Dr. Foxman answered his phone 3 times and his cell phone which was on loud went off twice. Also, during my consultation he did not even look up from his computer screen to look at me and even interrupted me when I was talking. I have never experienced anything so unprofessional. There is no way I would ever return to this office.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Foxman. It is so difficult to find a doctor that you can trust and Dr. Foxman is that doctor. You never feel rushed. Dr. Foxman and his staff are courteous, knowledgable and overall a pleasure to deal with.

I am a healthy young male but wanted a check up because I hadn’t been to a doctor in a couple years. I asked Dr. Foxman to recommend the appropriate tests for overall health. He recommend a series of tests and asked if I wanted to proceed with the testing. I asked him what he would bill my insurance. He said it would be billed as an «Office Visit». I am covered for office visits so I agreed to proceed with testing. However, Dr. Foxman ended up billing my insurance for many other things than just an office visit against my permission. I never authorized him to perform ANY tests beyond what is considered an «office visit». He gave me his word on this and went back on it. I tried to explain my frustration and resolve the issue but Dr. Foxman refused to admit he did anything without my permission. I guess a persons word means nothing these days and i need to draw up a contract for something as simple as a physical.
