too bad its gone this place was simply perect

I ate lunch here with Anna and my two sons (6 and 2). I had been pretty excited to come here for a meal as previously I had just come for desert.
I am a pretty fair Unilocaler I would say, so take my rating here as you will. I was overall disappointed with my experience here. Both my burger and Anna’s Turkey burger were just OK. The «kids burger» was fine for what it was. I think I am most turned off by the $ 47 bill I paid ($ 57 with tip). The food just wasn’t worth that much, especially since we ordered two «kid’s meals.»
The service was fine and friendly and the atmosphere was cute. But, overall the experience was merely «EH» at best.
Next time we’ll go back to the Beverly Hills diner.

I come here pretty regularly for their turkey burger. It seems to be the only place in BH to get a decent one at a decent price. You can add avo, cheese, onions whatever and it is under $ 10. Also I like the retro décor for a little kitsch flavor. I have yet to try anything other than a turkey burger and fries, but maybe someday I will try the chicken apple sausage dog– sounds pretty good to me.

This place is totally decent. They have VEGAN hot dogs served with vegan chili. I got the combo meal which comes with fries and also ordered a strawberry lemonade. Total bill was about $ 12.00. Good deal for a full lunch.
The vegan hot dog (sausage) was pretty tasty, but they need to work on the chili a bit — kind of bland. Also it was served lukewarm. Y’all know that I like my food piping hot. Anyway they packed it to go and didn’t forgot to pack the onions, mustard, pickles and relish.
Service is pretty good, but I think they are a bit understaffed.
I’m soooo juiced because it is on my drive to work and I can always stop by if I’m in a hurry and don’t have time to stand in line at Chipotle…

This is a small retro 1950’s diner that advertises Coney Island style hot dogs.
While my focus were their french fries, The salad I had was fairly large and fresh and although not creative, was above my expectations for this sort of retro diner.
French Fry Review:
Sweet potato fries: The yam fries are krinkle cut, which for me typically indicates frozen, generic and low quality. I was actually surprised by how good these were. They were definitely the crispiest krinkle cut yam fries I have had.
Regular/​seasoned fries: These were surprisingly good fries with skin and fresh seasonings/​herbs. They were slightly crispy and had a satisfying fresh flavor (but may have been frozen).

My honey and I were here the first day it opened which was a little over a year ago. We live in walking distance and thought it was a great new concept for Beverly Blvd’s row of quaint little restaurants. When they first opened they were busy, but they’ve completely fallen off since then. It’s usually pretty empty nowadays which makes me so sad! When I ate meat I ordered the Sandy D’s Chicken Sausage ($ 5.99). I remember it being good but not great. Since then I’ve gone veg, but lucky for me they added a Vegan Dog! The Vegan Dog ($ 5.99) is served with sautéed onions and vegetarian chili (I ordered mine without the chili). It’s not too bad! I appreciate the fact that they even have vegetarian options. They have a veggie burger ($ 6.99) also which I’ve yet to try.
The Coney Island Fries ($ 3.49) are really great and all of the milkshakes and desserts are to die for. Marty and his wife are usually there too and they’re exceptionally nice people.
If you live/​work in the area it’s definitely worth a try.

My best friend and I, every Sunday, go on our weekly hot dog adventure. How did this start you may ask? Our discovery of our mutual wiener obsession plus it’s just fun.
For this week’s my friend picked Marty D’s — I think she just liked their slogan «If it ain’t 8 inches… It ain’t Marty D’s» Got to love the not even remotely discrete sexual insinuation.
We were the first ones there at 10am, faces pressed against the glass. Overeager much? When you walk in the place has a very east coast, vintage Jersey Shore vibe to it. Sort of like you stepped back in time to the 50’s. There was an older man who greeted us at the host stand with pants at least 3 inches too short; I am guessing him to be Marty? I heart old people, especially abrasive old East Coasters.
After being seated, we ordered sodas that came in old fashioned Coca-​Cola Classic glasses. Diet coke, my sweet nectar of life, tastes even better in one, I swear. We both ordered the deluxe dog combo which included a beef kosher dog with fixins’ and their signature Coney Island fries. Delicious hot beef injection get into my mouth, stat! If beef isn’t your thing, they also have vegan and chicken dog options. AND if hot dogs aren’t your thing, I wouldn’t go here, but they have burgers, salads and a pretty expansive dessert menu. There were also some fountain drink options that sounded like they came straight out of Goodfellas, for instance the «Cherry-​Lime Rickey?» No idea what the eff that is.
The only downfall of this place is the service lacks a bit. I had to go to the counter to get my soda refilled a few times and the waiter looked a tad bit intimated by us. Like we were praying mantises who were going to attempt to mate with him then eat his body.
Despite the somewhat peculiar service, the wieners were sublime and I will definitely go back soon. Hopefully this mom and pop-​esque diner stays in business; it seems a bit out of place in the middle of hoitey toity Beverly Hills.

Best dogs ever. Fabulous atmo. Had to wait a few minutes for a table of 4, but definately worth it. The owner is always there and really cares. Not only after making a few bucks. Best shakes I’ve ever had…
Not to be missed.

The décor is very good. The concept is good, but the food is boring. Unfortunately the hot dog is bland. It’s usually empty too, so there isn’t much atmosphere. Too bad. They did a nice job on the design.

Last Wednesday, I was craving a burger and my BFF suggested trying Marty D’s. Neither of us had been there so we thought, «why not?»
We ventured into the completely empty restaurant, which I have to admit worried me a bit. I mean no one? Not a single soul? We grabbed a booth and sat down. I chose the chili cheese burger and an order of fries (heart attack waiting to happen I know). It was ok. not great, but not terrible either. The burger was cooked well done as I like even though our server had never asked how I wanted it cooked. The chili burger with a bit of mustard was tasty, slightly spicy and a pretty fair serving, what I loved most? The thick generous slice of cheese! All too often you get a cheeseburger and the cheese is so thin it’s barely there! When I cut into this burger the cheese was oozing from the burger and falling from the sides.
While it does not compare to Pie ‘n’ Burger, In’n’Out or 25 Degrees it was sufficient to fulfill my burger craving and made for an OK meal.
On a non-​food note– I thought it a bit awkward that the server was being bitched at by the manager (?). She definitely spoke loud enough that we could hear her and considering the place was completely empty we could obviously hear everything that was said. Coming from a customer service background, I just don’t feel that your customers should ever have to witness that. Even if your employee deserves it, it should never be part of your customer’s dining experience, EVER. Completely unprofessional.
I’m not certain I’ll revisit Marty D’s, the food wasn’t spectacular and the price a bit steep for what you get.

Servers here are GAWD AWFUL! The owners are nice and always there and I understand what they are trying to do by hiring these timid, nice people and help them out but hire some people that remember to bring drinks and food to you please. You want people to come back right?
It is a little spendy. I go here from time to time when I don’t mind kicking back and grabbing a old fashioned fountain drink and a $ 10 hot dog, which isn’t too often. I’d recommend going just for the amazing deserts though! Huge sundaes!
Get the servers in check (I hear there are a ton of actors here that LOVE to serve that have a great personality for it) and you got yourself a business!

Having lived in Manhattan in the 90’s Grays Papaya hot dogs comes to mind and also a neighborhood deli called Sarges on 3^rd Ave and near 38^th. Sarges carried Empire Meats hotdogs. After sounding out Empire Meats. they told me that Marty D’s carried their hot dogs.
Now I have another choice besides Nathan’s or Hebrew National. So. Beverly Drive is not close from Silverlake. but if in the area. Get a hot dog at Marty D’s. Wished they also had Pastrami! Not as homesick about NY dogs.

It’s eh. The servers were friendly, but not that efficient. I think parking was average. And I ordered fries and a dog and I was still hungry! The price was only $ 10, so not Beverly Hills pricing, but it was good that I got to try it out.

Grade: A
Reason: they know every ingredient on the menu. Marty is actually wandering around and he will want to chat with you about your meal. Each waitperson knows the ingredients and they still are kind of chatty about what you might want… this is total comfort food.
It may be a limited menu, but they do what they do very well.
PS: I get the corn instead of the fries.

What can i say about Marty D’s except it is an excellent Hot Dog Joint, in an old school NYC kinda way.
It starts with their gourmet specially made NYC Kosher hot dogs, which are fantastic. They have great service, great french fries served in a nice holder with special ketchup holder.
Don’t worry, they also have tuna and grilled cheese sandwiches and salads and more. this is a very neat spot i highly recommend. They even have amazing cole slaw. which is hard to find good stuff of out here in Cali, NY style has a bit of a bite, which out here they love the «creamy» and bland type.
also… Marty based his deserts on nyc’s famous place i grew up with, SERENDIPITY. from frozen hot chocolates, to big sundae’s brownies and more.
this is a nice little place which is perfect down low place to head to, but it’s an old school, but fresh and nicely kept new place which is great.
Love the soda’s as well.

I’m always looking for a place to go to that just for dessert. As a former employee (sorry, cast member) of the Disney’s Soda Fountain and Studio Store, I was looking for a place similar, but without the Disney prices, or having to go back to my old place of work. Marty D’s is what came to me, courtesy of my dad.
It’s in Beverly Hills, which is not the first place you would think of for the location of a soda shop, but hey, whatever works.
Now, I’ve never had lunch or dinner here, so I can’t say how the food is, but I have been here for dessert. Their menu is very similar to the DSF, but the quality isn’t quite on par. I’m a fan of marshmallow fluff, and Marty’s fluff just isn’t quite up to snuff. (Yay! I rhymed!) They also don’t give you enough of the fluff to really taste it on your sundae either.
As for service, I’ve been later in the evening when they don’t have as large of a staff, but at the same time, the restaurant is never packed (that I’ve seen at least) so in that case, service is a little slow.
But it’s a soda fountain for dessert, so I haven’t been completely turned off to it yet. So as long as things stay the same (or get better), I’ll keep going back.

Film maker and hot dog griller Marty Davidson’s new hot dog joint and soda fountain is quaint. With its 50’s style dcor and counter top soda fountain. His kosher hot dog ($ 7.99) is decent. It’s served with yummy grilled onions, pickles, sauerkraut or horseradish coleslaw, all on the side. The wiener itself lacked any real snap to the skin, but the flavor was good. Enhanced by the onions, pickles, slaw and some brown mustard, made it ever better.
The fries were crispy and hot. I ordered mine with some chili and cheese on top, but the chili lacked any kick and didn’t have much flavor. The dogs come with fries, which annoyed me slightly. I would rather share some fries, than be forced to order them with my hot dog. I wanted to leave room for a shake, but after finishing the dog and the fries I was too full. Other sides include a potato knish, baked beans and corn-​on-​the-​cob.
The authentic soda fountain is the highlight of Marty D’s. The New York Egg Cream made with Fox’s u-​bet chocolate syrup was wonderful. Sadly it was my first egg cream soda ever! Can’t wait to have another. They have an extensive list of shakes and malts, sundaes, splits, and even a Frozen Hot Chocolate, made famous by Serendipity in NY. The also carry LAMILL roasted coffee.
It’s a great place if you are looking for an authentic soda fountain experience. You can get a dog and be satisfied but don’t expect to be blown away. It makes the list, but it’s not a stand out for the hot dog.

The décor’s retro 50’s and it does feel like you stepped into a fifties; except when you see the prices. Eight dollars can get you either two gallons of gas or a Marty D’s kosher dog and fries. Add three dollars for a drink and yup, we’re not in the fifties, but in oh eight.
The strawberry lemonade does come with free refills.. .

This place was depressingly empty on a late afternoon, but we stopped here anyway. The hot dogs are pretty expensive and yes, it’s nothing that special. But the desserts are absolutely kickass. We were going to go to Pinkberry or Coldstone afterwards, but decided to have one of the ice cream desserts here instead. Not as expensive and very tasty, although I recommend splitting them because the desserts all seem pretty big.
Lastly, regular fountain drinks are only 2 cents! And maybe cause it was so empty the waiter was really friendly and talkative. Extra stars for that :]

Marty D’s was filled with professionals and families for Friday lunch. I loved the retro décor, including the lunch counter and bright colors. They have a limited menu: the Marty D hot dog and chicken sausage are your entrée choices. For sides, you can get fries, baked beans, cole slaw, or a few other options. They do have a large fountain and ice cream menu, including ice cream sodas, milkshakes, sundaes, and cake. Service is efficient, but for some reason, the dessert took three times as long as the hot dogs.
My friend and I each had the Marty D, a drink, and a scoop of ice cream; we shared a side of fries. The Marty D comes on a poppy seed bun with two kinds of mustard, relish, peppers, and sauerkraut on the side. Including tip and tax, it came out to $ 20 a person. You’re reading that correctly: $ 20 a person. So while I thought the hot dog, fries, and Dandy Don’s ice cream were delicious, they weren’t worth $ 20.
I’ll go back if I get a hot dog craving, but I can’t afford to go here all the time. I wonder how long they’ll be in business with those prices…
