Dr. Shahin Ghadir is dedicated to helping patients overcome their reproductive challenges and infertility issues to achieve their goal of having children. A true visionary, he is inspired by the idea of both giving life and bringing life into the world. More than his strong work ethic, Dr. Ghadir has built a reputation as a compassionate, responsive and hand-​holding physician. A strong believer in preparing for the future, he is committed to helping patients retain their future fertility options — whether it is egg freezing or embryo freezing or even when preparing for medical treatments that can affect reproduction, such as chemotherapy.

A clinician and scientist at heart, Dr. Ghadir has conducted considerable original research on women’s health issues such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the treatments of fibroids in fertility, adhesion therapies as well as research in the area of sexual health. Dr. Ghadir, did his thesis in the area of PCOS with some of the world’s renowned experts at the Cedar Sinai Medical Center. Additionally, he frequently lectures both nationally & internationally on all aspects of fertility treatments, which includes his broad range of knowledge in the specific care and protocols relating to treating women over the age of 42 and allowing him to have exceptional success rates in this category.

As a founding partner of Southern California Reproductive Center, Dr. Ghadir is double board-​certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and also at the Keck School of Medicine at USC. A native Angeleno, Dr. Ghadir earned his bachelor’s degree with cum laude in psychology from UCLA, and his medical degree from the Central University School of Medicine, where he graduated summa cum laude and was ranked first in his class. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, as well as a three-​year subspecialty fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the combined UCLA and Cedars-​Sinai Medical Center program. Dr. Ghadir currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Fertility Association.

Dr Ghadir and his entire staff have been incredible! Anyone going through any infertility problems knows how much of an emotional rollercoaster it can be. I don’t think I could have gone through this process without the amazing, supportive, and all around positive nurses and staff. Maria and Ludi (Dr Ghadir’s nurses) were two God sent angels. They always took time to answer any of my questions and gave me that extra positive push to get me through. From the Front Desk ladies, to the ultrasound technicians, to the lab work staff, and my nurse angels — they made this difficult process feel so seamless. Dr Ghadir is wonderful! He always made my husband and I feel at ease with the process and set us on a plan that was right for us. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a fertility doctor to choose Dr. Ghadir. It will be the best decision you ever made. I know it was ours!

He is EVERYTHING. The best in the Biz. So grateful for him. His knowledge, his existence, his care. Dealing with fertility can be scary stuff but not with him. Went through 3 IUI and 2 IVF cycles with Dr Ghadir for fertility issues/​suspected PCOS. None of the cycles were successful. Went for 2nd opinion, turned out I did not have PCOS and was able to have 3 children naturally since then. Wish I would have just relaxed instead of being so aggressive in the first place. My only advice is to be patient and try not to stress too much. The thought of being infertile is so devastating. It was one of the toughest times in my life physically and emotionally.

Words cannot express the love and gratitude I have for Dr. Ghadir! After several years of trying to conceive, my husband and I had lost all hopes of ever becoming parents. As a wife, the pain and the guilt of not being able to become pregnant sat heavy on my heart. I had resigned myself to the belief that we would never experience the joy of bringing a child into the world. My husband and I both told each other that we were fine with the cards we had been dealt. But, in all honesty, I was not fine. I wanted a baby. I wanted to raise a family with my husband, the most loving and generous man that I know.
And so, the research began. After several inquiries and countless hours on the internet, we were blessed to find Dr. Ghadir. I was so nervous about the prospect of seeing an infertility specialist, but that fear soon dissipated as soon as I had my initial consultation with Dr. Ghadir. He was so warm and knowledgable and optimistic (yet never over-​promising) that I immediately trusted that he would be able to help my husband and I fulfill our dreams of becoming parents. I left his office that day feeling more alive and more hopeful than I had felt in a long time.
My intuition was spot on! I remember visiting Dr. Ghadir sometime around February or March, and by late summer, we underwent our first IUI. Two weeks later, I found out we were pregnant! And in April of 2013, our little boy was born!
A couple of years after our son was born, my husband and I returned to Dr. Ghadir in hopes of providing our little one with a sibling. After undergoing three IUI cycles this past summer, we are pleased to announce that we are now expecting our second baby! This is a direct result of the thorough attention, expertise, patience and love of Dr. Ghadir and his staff (Maria, Raul, Desta… the list goes on and on). Every single person at SCRC works tirelessly to help so many couples conceive. And for couples like my husband and I, more than once!
Dr. Ghadir is an expert in his field. He is so warm, so funny, so patient, and so real. He is amazing. He was that spark of hope for my husband and I during a time when we felt hopeless and helpless. Infertility can be such a scary and daunting thing to experience as a couple, but Dr. Ghadir made us believers that anything is possible. Not once, but twice!

My life before Dr Ghadir… highly successful busy working professional trying for many years to start a family. My life after meeting Dr Ghadir… around the clock feedings, diapers, baby laundry, learning everything I can about early childhood development, cooing, drooling, baby snuggles, exhausted!
After many years of trying to get pregnant, I just wanted some answers. At 36 almost 37 yrs old, my bio clock was ticking and I was turning up empty handed. I was the person who didn’t want IVF. It’s even in my medical chart. Honestly, I wanted to know what was «wrong» with me. My first meeting with Dr. Ghadir was what I needed. I remember the confidence he had that we would be successful in having a baby. Confidence I had slowly lost. He simply asked for me to trust him.
He is so easy to trust. He is determined. «No» really isn’t in his vocabulary. Success is in his vocabulary. When you struggle with infertility for so long you really need that emotional boost and he was able to provide it. As a result of his confidence, I changed my mind about IVF. With so much at stake financially I really wanted to know there would be a positive result at the end. While he could never guarantee I would get pregnant, his confidence made me believe it would happen. His sense of humor makes him approachable and helps relieve anxiety throughout the process. I never once doubted his skill.
It took one IVF cycle for success. I now have an eleven week old happy healthy son who has filled an empty hole in my heart. I am forever grateful for Dr. Ghadir.

As another reviewer mentioned he is hilarious, and his sense of humor was very welcome during what was at times an arduous process. But he’s so much more than funny. We consider Dr. Ghadir to be forthright, honest, caring, and responsive. His knowledge and practice are cutting edge. He provided the most advanced information every step of the way. We just had a beautiful baby boy, which wouldn’t have been possible without Dr. Ghadir & the great staff of SCRC.
It took us a few cycles of IVF to be successful, but Dr. Ghadir never lost hope, even when we were about to. He’s also very compassionate, & has great bedside manners. He’s always available via phone or email, or his nursing staff who are very helpful & knowledgeable. I also have to mention the lab & ultrasound technicians who are very professional, & extremely sweet.

Dont expect any interest from this doctor to trat you like anything other than another number. On one visit he requested through his nurse that i see him the next time i went in. When I did he said «why are you here» and i said «because you asked me too!»
Also he is very insensitive to how vulnerable you are in these situations and can straight mean about it.

Dr. Ghadir is a nice man so nothing personal against him but I had a bad experience. Communication is not good, I was treated like a number, like another reviewer mentioned many tests were ordered but little explained. Not all of my condition was disclosed. We were referred to Dr. Ghadir by my husband’s primary care. We both find him and the entire staff to be professional and caring. Dealing with infertility is stressful to begin with so to be at an office where you feel like your needs (medical and emotional) will be met is a huge plus. We also have close friends who saw his colleague Dr. Mark Surrey and now have a 4-​yr old girl.
